Founded in 1866, University Hospitals serves the needs of patients through an integrated network of 21 hospitals (including five joint ventures), more than 50 health centers and outpatient facilities, and over 200 physician offices in 16 counties throughout northern Ohio.

As one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, University Hospitals is home to some of the most prestigious clinical and research programs in the nation, with more than 3,200 active clinical trials and research studies underway. Our health system’s flagship quaternary care academic medical center, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, has been affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine since the late 1800s, as well as Northeast Ohio Medical University, University of Oxford (England) and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. University Hospitals is also affiliated with Harrington Discovery Institute, which engages top scholars internationally in accelerating the development of medicines for unmet needs.
