I strongly urge anyone considering Dr. George Kofinas to proceed cautiously. In January 2025, before my laparoscopic surgery, his office scheduled tests that I had explicitly declined because I had completed the same tests at his brother's clinic only days earlier. My concerns were ignored, and now—more than a year later—they are demanding approximately $1,500 for tests I clearly believed were never performed. This is unacceptable and feels highly deceptive. Worse, I arrived for surgery expecting Dr. Kofinas to perform it, as he had explicitly said he would. Instead, someone else performed the surgery without informing me or obtaining my consent beforehand. This was a serious breach of trust. Obtaining my medical records was another nightmare. I requested them in summer 2025, but the clinic delayed for months and provided them only after I threatened to report a HIPAA violation. Patients should not have to pursue their own records or resort to threats to receive them. The entire process reflected poor communication, lack of transparency, and disregard for informed consent. I regret not posting sooner, but with the billing issue still unresolved, I feel obligated to warn others. Proceed with extreme caution.

Dr. Nalin and Dr. Kofinas completely mishandled my frozen embryo transfer cycle. From the start, the clinic had difficulty accessing my cervix. I repeatedly asked Dr. Nalin to dilate it before the transfer, but she dismissed my request. Instead of addressing the obvious issue, she had me pay for four completely unnecessary PRP treatments at $450 each, which, incidentally, also lack scientific support. After the transfer attempt, I woke up to learn that Dr. Kofinas had canceled my cycle because he could not access my cervix, exactly as I had predicted. I was heartbroken after spending thousands of dollars and losing my time, money, insurance benefits, and an entire year. The failed transfer was entirely their fault because they did not listen to the patient. When I told Dr. Nalin that she had known about the issue and could have resolved it beforehand, her only response was, ‘Understood.’ Their negligence forced me to move my last embryo to another facility. After the canceled cycle, Dr. Nalin called and proposed, ‘I will demonstrate to Dr. Kofinas how to perform the transfer during another mock transfer.’ It is shocking and unacceptable that a younger doctor would need to teach a more experienced doctor how to do his job. There were many other issues, including inadequate stimulation that left me with only two embryos, while other clinics use much higher doses. The clinic also lost my husband's blood sample and made him return for genetic testing without even apologizing. They put everyone through an unnecessary mock cycle, wasting time and money and delaying frozen embryo transfer. When I reviewed my records, I found that Dr. Nalin documented counseling me about several matters, including metformin and IVF risks, when she had not done so. One nurse whose name I cannot remember was also very rude when I simply asked another nurse what else I could do to support my treatment plan. Instead of being kind and considerate, she gaslighted me and angrily said anything I did would only increase my stress, while her behavior itself made me feel stressed. The front desk staff were extremely rude as well. I do not understand how the clinic continues to operate while employing front desk staff who roll their eyes at patients. I also learned that Dr. Kofinas performs all embryo transfers, rather than the doctor managing your cycle. That is why he did not know my history or address my cervical issue, which another clinic was able to resolve. Finally, this clinic charges excessive fees, puts patients through unnecessary testing, and still mishandles the process. They treated me like an ATM rather than a patient. Patients like me are extremely vulnerable, and fertility care is sensitive, private, and critically important. Instead of understanding that, they treated me like a talking wallet and cared about nothing else. I should not be writing this review. I should be holding my first child, but they took advantage of me as a patient and took that hope away.

Dr. Jason Kofinas, however, went above and beyond to develop a protocol that made my beta-hCG levels soar and resulted in a healthy baby on the first attempt. I also want to recognize their coordinator, Tierney. The previous three clinics were disorganized and communicated poorly, and Tierney put them all to shame. She is the key person holding the clinic together, and her kindness is an added gift. I recommend Kofinas to anyone struggling with assembly-line care at other clinics. During my care, I found the billing practices at this center to be aggressive and extremely distressing. I was a fertility patient at Kofinas and, although I had been preparing for IVF, I became pregnant naturally. While pregnant, I was repeatedly contacted regarding payment timelines in a way that felt pressuring and intimidating rather than compassionate or patient-centered. The situation escalated to legal correspondence over payment timing, which caused me significant emotional distress during an already vulnerable period of my life. Being contacted by an attorney while pregnant, instead of having a humane and respectful conversation, was deeply upsetting. The communication felt focused solely on money, with threats of legal action rather than any effort to resolve the matter with understanding or flexibility. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of empathy. At no point did I feel treated as a patient whose health and emotional wellbeing mattered. Instead, I felt reduced to a financial obligation rather than a person receiving medical care. REGARDING the actual care & treatment received, Kofinas Fertility operates very much like an IVF-driven clinic. After three IUI attempts, the conversation immediately shifted toward IVF, with little discussion of deeper root-cause investigation or alternative paths. I often felt that IVF was the default recommendation rather than one option among many. One of my biggest concerns was that I had to advocate strongly for myself to get specific diagnostic testing done. After pushing for additional labs, I learned that I had borderline hypothyroidism—something that should be carefully evaluated early on in fertility care. This was not proactively identified, and I only became aware of it after insisting on further testing. Additionally, after doing the lap procedure, it took me over a year to get pregnant. While the doctors are knowledgeable, the overall experience left me feeling like I had to constantly push, question, and protect myself as a patient—medically and financially. Fertility patients deserve transparency, individualized care, and respect, not pressure or confusion. I strongly encourage prospective patients to: Ask very specific questions about testing before treatment begins Get everything in writing regarding billing Consider seeking a second opinion to ensure all underlying issues are addressed. Bottom line, I was able to get pregnant naturally which I believe my own self help remedies with lifestyle and holistic resources helped me alot. I needed surgery for endometriosis which I did have, but if you have no physical setbacks, I highly recommend seeing a naturopathic doctor first. Don’t allow them to play on your emotions!

The staff and doctors were very attentive. This negative review is for the receptionist at the Broadway main entrance, who was aggressive and had a terrible attitude. Someone like that should not work there.

This is a scam!! I never write reviews, much less reviews about a terrible, irresponsible, dishonest clinic like this one. I scheduled a consultation and called to ask whether I would have any out-of-pocket costs. They said no. On the appointment day, I paid my copay, and they performed laboratory tests that I had not expected. Before the results came back, I asked several nurses whether everything would be fully covered. They said yes and that I would have no out-of-pocket costs. I assumed they had contacted my insurance company. A few weeks later, I received two more calls to discuss my test results and financial options. They were supposed to send me the financial information but never did. I spoke with Dr. Kofinas again, and he pretended to email me the financial documents, but they never arrived. He repeatedly asked whether I had any other questions and said treatment could begin the following month. I was clearly being rushed into an expensive treatment with side effects. Two weeks later, I received a Labcorp bill for more than $200 in laboratory fees. I called Kofinas twice and explained why making the patient pay this bill was irresponsible and completely unacceptable. They said everything had been handled, and several nurses had assured me there would be no out-of-pocket costs. They hung up on me twice and never called back! Beware of this clinic's scam, poor communication, and lies!

One of the most concerning issues is how they bill—charging patients the full deductible upfront before submitting a claim to insurance. Incorrect billing codes were also submitted, and doctors who never saw the patient were listed on claims to use out-of-network benefits. Medical records from doctors who never provided care were even used to justify false claims. Beyond the billing issues, the workplace is highly unprofessional, and staff lack proper training and accountability. Instead of resolving problems, employees shift responsibility to others, creating confusion and frustration for patients seeking care. Dr. Jason Kofinas, as well as the whole Kofinas Fertility Group helped me with getting answers and being able to start my family. I wouldn't be where I am today about to start my third trimester without their help.

After countless doctors dismissing me, Dr. Jason was there with a listening ear. He always made me feel heard and never gave up on me. He monitored my very difficult case weekly. Answered every email at any hour of the night. Every treatment, every surgery, every procedure, and every protocol was done with care and with thought that was based on my specific diagnosis. I finally graduated today and it was the most bittersweet day. I will miss the team so much!! Can’t wait to go back for Baby #2!

I worked with Dr. Narine, and the entire process went very smoothly. The downtown Manhattan office is conveniently located, and the hours are very accommodating for people who work nine to five. Dr. Narine was kind, informative, and clear in working with me. All the support staff were equally friendly and responsive. I would return to this practice again if needed!

My experience at Kofinas Fertility Group was quite disappointing, and I have to write this to help others navigate this place. Before my appointment, I specifically asked to confirm the cost and insurance coverage. I was assured that if no one contacted me, everything was "fine" and covered. When I arrived and was asked to sign documents about financial responsibility, I sought clarification again. The front-desk staff assured me that because no one had contacted me, my insurance covered fertility testing. A little later I was reassured again that my insurance did cover the tests. Based on these repeated assurances, I proceeded with the consultation, ultrasound, and bloodwork. The doctor was kind and mentioned testing my husband genetically during the examination. She said a financial coordinator could quickly review his insurance afterward. I completed a blood draw of 10–14 vials. As I prepared to return to work, the financial coordinator stopped by. Based on the earlier responses, I expected only a brief discussion about my husband. Instead, she mentioned that I might owe up to $3,000 because I would later receive a deductible bill. This was alarming, and I questioned why I was only now being told this after the assurances I had just received. The financial coordinator deflected by explaining how deductibles work, entirely missing the point. My concern was the blatant miscommunication, not a misunderstanding of deductibles. She then admitted the front-desk staff were "uninformed" about insurance matters, should not have provided any financial information, and that she would speak with them. That admission was both shocking and infuriating. If the front desk cannot provide accurate financial information, why are they permitted to discuss it? The financial coordinator's admission of this internal failure highlighted a systemic problem: patients are misled by unqualified staff. During such an important medical journey, financial counseling should be the first step for every new patient upon arrival to ensure accurate information. Worse, the results from my 10–14 vials of blood were withheld until I spoke with the financial manager, who had no time at 3:30 p.m. on a Monday. Despite three calls to resolve the problem, I was placed on hold, disconnected, and treated dismissively. Because hormone testing is time-sensitive, this delay made the bloodwork useless. This lack of professionalism, transparency, and accountability is appalling. Patients deserve accurate, upfront information about costs, especially at a fertility clinic where the financial and emotional stakes are high. Misleading assurances about coverage, mishandling time-sensitive medical tests, and admitting internal staff incompetence without resolving the problem are unacceptable. It mistreats families who are already emotionally vulnerable while seeking fertility care. I will not return to Kofinas. I hope my experience warns other potential patients to seek treatment elsewhere. We will also report this to the BBB, as other reviewers apparently have. January 16, 2025—Update: It was courteous of one of Kofinas's owners to respond, but my review and recommendation to train your front desk better still stand. I asked three times to speak with the business manager, but no one called me back until I made time to post a review. The front-desk and telephone staff were extremely rude. January 28, 2025—Update: The owner had the practice manager contact us, and we reviewed the entire experience. She was courteous and understanding and hopes to correct this experience in the future. As noted, Dr. Levica, whom I met, was kind. If you decide to go here, discuss finances in advance, and good luck on your fertility journey.

Dr. Narine was outstanding throughout my egg-freezing/IVF journey! With her help and that of the excellent nurses, we became pregnant during our first IVF cycle! I am very grateful that this practice made everything proceed so smoothly. The staff and doctors truly care about you. I never felt like just another patient. They felt like family and were genuinely happy for me when I became pregnant! Graduating from Kofinas was bittersweet, but I will return for my second child!

We are so grateful to Kofinas Fertility Group and Dr. Narine. After two years of infertility, we first met Dr. Narine for diagnostic testing in June 2024. I am delighted to share that I am now 16 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. She helped us understand all our results and options.
