It took me time to write this review because I am deeply upset that this clinic took away my time, money, and opportunity to expand my family. We completed more than 10 IUIs and 2 IVF cycles at this clinic. During IUI treatment, they dismissed my concerns about my husband's low sperm count. For IVF, they used the same protocol each round. When our second round produced only abnormal embryos, they told us our best option was donor eggs. I later changed clinics, and my new doctor quickly diagnosed a C-section scar defect and stage IV endometriosis—issues this clinic completely overlooked. The new doctor also immediately noticed my husband's count and referred us to a urologist, who diagnosed a large varicocele—again, completely overlooked by this clinic. With these diagnoses, it was clear that our time at NCRM was entirely wasted because we could never succeed without addressing the underlying problems. They failed to look beyond the surface and provide truly personalized care. Even when I tried using them for outside monitoring, which I did not want to do but they were the only option in town, the care was shocking. For example, one scan inaccurately showed 0 follicles. One week later, my new doctor confirmed 30 follicles, consistent with all my prior scans showing 20-30. They seriously lack attention to detail and quality patient care. It feels as though this clinic exploits being the only clinic in town, providing substandard, dehumanizing care while profiting from families' dreams. If you can travel elsewhere for fertility care, do so. Do not waste your time, money, and dreams at this clinic.

To be clear about this review, we completed five unsuccessful IUI attempts with Dr. Whitten at this center, three of them full cycles, so that outcome is disappointing. But our disappointment extends far beyond not conceiving. It is about how this place operates. Other negative reviews describing it as a money grab seem accurate. There is almost no empathy or rapport between staff and patients, they never answer the phone, and you should be prepared never to see Dr. Whitten. During the year we sought treatment here, we saw Dr. Whitten twice. One positive person we can mention is Amanda. She is lovely, thoughtful, and personable. Unfortunately, we did not see her at every appointment, so be prepared to move back and forth between nurses. This is a very vulnerable time in a couple's life. There was no follow-up or check-in, and every appointment was so rushed that we felt moved in and out as quickly as possible. Appointments lasted 15-29 minutes and cost us $375 to $800, with no insurance coverage. Our most recent and final IUI attempt was especially disappointing. We did not even receive a call from Dr. Whitten's office about the result. We found it through the online portal. That was the final straw. Unfortunately, this is the only fertility center near us and is a one-hour drive each way. We will now seek another option and see a new doctor. We hope this doctor shows more professionalism and compassion instead of focusing only on money. If you live in or near the Reno area, we strongly recommend researching before using this facility. It may be worth driving elsewhere.

We always dreamed of building a family together, but after months of trying to conceive without success, we decided to seek help. We were both very excited when we first scheduled with Nevada Center for Reproductive Medicine (NCRM). From the moment we met the NCRM team, we knew we were in the right place. After a series of tests and consultations, we began fertility treatment. Every procedure was explained in detail, and we trusted that we were receiving good care. Although fertility treatment often brings an emotional roller coaster, we were surprised and thrilled to conceive on our first attempt! Today, as we look forward to holding our precious baby, we are filled with gratitude for Nevada Center for Reproductive Medicine. We will always appreciate their incredible work and the impact they had on our journey to parenthood. We will welcome our precious baby into the world on November 23, 2024.

I have called and left messages 4 times to say that I cannot take the medication the doctor prescribed and stopped it because of serious side effects, including heart problems. I need a different medication! No one called back! The label says to call with medication questions. Smh...Tmw will be my fifth call about this. Their clinical staff do not return calls. The office is poorly run. The doctor himself is kind and pleasant, but his staff are terrible except for the person at the front window who schedules appointments. He is the only staff member who does an excellent, efficient job. The rest of the staff are awful.

We had a wonderful experience at Dr. Whitten's office. At first, I struggled because I did not hear much from the doctor himself, but I came to realize that the nurse coordinators and medical assistants were doing their jobs and helping the doctor because he cannot do everything. Whenever I had a question, they asked the doctor and responded promptly. Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable, and we highly recommend Dr. Whitten. We are officially pregnant after our first IVF process. We could not have done it without such an excellent team. Thank you so much for helping us achieve our dream. The facility was always neat and clean when we arrived, and we never had problems with wait times before appointments. Highly recommended; you will not be disappointed...

I came to this clinic for monitoring because I was undergoing IVF at a clinic in San Francisco. I only needed weekly ultrasounds and bloodwork. The first week, everything went smoothly. The woman who performed the ultrasound was wonderful. I loved her. She even printed my ultrasound results from the first and second weeks. I also brought my husband because I felt better with him there. Now, about the blood draws. I am a difficult stick. I am covered in tattoos, so my veins are not visible. Fortunately, I am a phlebotomist with 20 years of experience, and after enough practice, we know where the good veins are. I showed everyone drawing my blood where the good vein was so they would not choose one that looked good and miss because it rolls. No one had a problem with this before. On the first day, the woman was lovely and listened. My husband was present. On the second day, the woman listened, though she seemed uncomfortable when I told her where to insert the needle. It was no big deal; she listened. My husband was also present. On the third day, I came in and the woman performing the ultrasound was different. She was still pleasant but distant. I assumed she was having an off day. No big deal; we all do. Then I went for the blood draw. It was a different woman. I explained where the vein was. She said, “Well, I will do it where I want, and it will be fine.” I let her, but she missed. She also was not wearing gloves. Instead of putting on gloves to clean my skin, she cleaned it with her bare hand. I jerked back, of course, because that was disgusting. Where were the universal precautions?! She tried to stick me again, and I pulled back again. She said she was going to get her supervisor. Her supervisor, Michelle, also came in without gloves, with chipped nail polish, and touched my vein—without gloves—where it was bleeding. I said “no,” and she replied, “I am a nurse, and I know what I am doing,” then drew my blood. As I left, I asked the woman at checkout to note that I wanted the woman who originally drew my blood to do it from then on. After leaving, I called and spoke with my clinical coordinator, who instructed me to report the incident to the office manager. I did so. I was very polite and asked whether those people could please not draw my blood and whether someone could explain to them that this was unsanitary and could cause an infection. The conversation seemed to go well. Later, my doctor called to tell me I was banned from the clinic because the clinical supervisor had told my coordinator that I grabbed the needle from them and tried to stick myself. They also said they had video from two different appointments of me trying to take the “butterfly” from them. First, a butterfly needle was never used on me. Second, my husband witnessed the first two appointments and can confirm that this is a lie. Third, we tried to obtain the alleged video, but miraculously they could not provide it. Because I did not want a difficult pregnancy or to travel all the way to Sacramento while carrying an IVF pregnancy, I called the office manager, Michelle, to apologize even though I knew I had done nothing wrong. I did not want to place any more stress on my body. My husband, grandmother, and I sat in a room with the call on speakerphone and heard her tell me she had sanitized her hands outside the room and that sometimes it was acceptable not to use gloves because they needed to find the vein. I apologized, and she said she would speak with her office manager and everything would be fine. No. She called my coordinator and claimed I had threatened her and threatened to shut down the business. My coordinator is still trying to obtain these recordings. That never happened. I was always very kind to everyone there. Anyway, fast-forward a few weeks: I miscarried. This place is awful. I cannot imagine working somewhere women seek help and treating them like absolute garbage. Why? Because you have a monopoly?

An excellent team of caring professionals and specialists in every field who create miracles for families. They provide the perfect combination of emotional support and medical care throughout the process. Forever grateful to this team!

We had our first consultation with Dr. Whitten today, and overall it was an excellent experience. He was thorough and had a very good bedside manner. He explained every detail and discussed what to expect next. All his staff were very kind. The waiting room was comfortable and bright, with spacious sofas. We were very pleased with the consultation and look forward to working with him.

Affordable. The doctor was kind and explained everything clearly.

Update: I filed a complaint with CMS and recommend that you do the same. Regardless of the bill amount, it is illegal not to provide a good faith estimate to self-pay patients. I received a good faith estimate (GFE) from Northern California Fertility Medical Center. Filing a CMS complaint is easy; simply search Google for ‘No Surprises Act complaint.’ As a healthcare industry leader, I was shocked by how this practice was managed, so much so that I chose to drive to Sacramento for treatment. When scheduling, they do not ask whether you take any medications, warn you that the first appointment includes a transvaginal ultrasound, or explain any part of the process. The Northern California office did all of these things when scheduling me. They told me my medication made it difficult to obtain an accurate ultrasound reading, but no one had told me to stop taking it or wait. The Reno clinic's lack of communication during such a distressing process made me question how the rest of the process was usually handled. After my first appointment, my personal assistant told me I had already completed most necessary tests and that the next step might be intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, when the clinic called to schedule a second appointment, they said the doctor needed to see me to determine what additional tests could be scheduled. Why could the personal assistant not explain this during the first visit and then schedule the tests? They could not explain which tests were needed and only said I had to see the doctor again. I had a bad feeling and never returned. Based on other women's reviews, I believe I made the right choice. If you can travel to Sacramento, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

All the staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very comfortable! The process is not easy, but with their help and support, we completed the transfer smoothly. If you are seeking fertility assistance, I highly recommend Nevada Center for Reproductive Medicine.

NCRM was amazing! We were running out of hope and decided to try them out. They explained every step and the staff was very friendly, caring and supportive. They are like family. I would recommend them to anyone going through infertility.

They said we would only discuss paperwork, but at the appointment we learned that additional testing was needed: an ultrasound (included in the appointment fee), semen analysis (a sample had to be provided within three days of ejaculation), a $150 chromosome blood test ($250 per person), and a lab order for bloodwork (cost unknown and dependent on the laboratory). Dr. W answered most of my questions but was vague on specific questions related to my testing. The second appointment was for laboratory and urine testing. I was confused about whether the urine test was necessary. According to my partner, the semen analysis room was dirty, with giggling from the next room and people coming and going, which made it difficult to concentrate. My partner did not want to touch anything. An HSG was required. The physician assistant helped me relax and explained the X-ray and procedure. She warned me that I might experience cramping. I requested a cost breakdown within an hour, and she provided it promptly. Mid-April: The doctor and I discussed the testing and some next steps. Five days later, I met with Sara, the financial coordinator. She gave me a cost breakdown: none of the items and tests we initially needed were included in the quoted price, so we would need to pay an additional $5,000 beyond the cost of IVF. The next day, Alicia promptly coordinated with the doctor and a supervisor to discuss hysteroscopy on a case-by-case basis. The doctor and I developed a personalized plan together. Early May: The clinic used Natera to process blood test results. Without prior notice, I was charged $700. The clinic seemed thoughtful about planning the next stages of treatment. IVF I had mixed feelings about the educational videos and knowledge tests. I found them helpful, but my husband felt teaching this information was the staff's responsibility. It would have been better to watch the videos before starting treatment. Much of the information was not provided in advance. Only after paying $14,000 for the IVF cycle were we told there would be additional fees for embryo transfer, a possible mock cycle, and extra ultrasounds. Be prepared to pay separately for every test so you can plan accordingly. Costs were higher than expected. IVF treatment began in early July. It involved many injections and medications. Allie and Ray helped with medications and shipping. During the follicle development ultrasound, Joanna had a poor attitude. She asked whether we had questions but gave short, abrupt answers. The ultrasound and blood draw took about 15 minutes. We were not told the injection timing window in advance. The injection window was about one hour within a 12-hour period. When we were 15 minutes late, she became anxious, and we had to inject in the car. The injection could have been prepared up to 30 days in advance. IVF cycle: When it was time for the trigger injection, Allie and Ray explained the process, but it did not feel clear enough. The final ultrasound was Friday, bloodwork was Saturday, and egg retrieval was Sunday. This rushed schedule was extremely difficult because I traveled from out of state. Most frustrating was the waste of unused medication. The clinic had us order a set amount based on a standard dose, but it was far too much, and we lost $1,500 in medication costs. The mock cycle took a long time. Assuming everything goes well, expect each mock cycle and transfer to take about a month. December: There was confusion about some medications and appointment scheduling. A new medication was added on the day of transfer, making it difficult to find before the holidays. I wish they had told us in advance. Because of my circumstances, I had another stimulation blood test, which cost more money. In December, the embryo did not implant. 😭 The earliest follow-up was two months later unless there was a cancellation, and fortunately there was. Dr. W suggested several possible reasons for the failed transfer. Many more alternatives were discussed now than before. During IVF, you can choose to donate embryos. We had thought this could help another couple with a low egg yield. Only after the failed transfer did we learn that we could purchase a donor embryo for an additional $8,500. 😖 For several weeks after the transfer, Alicia helped with various symptoms. However, she rarely discussed the long-term effects of IVF and the medications. My menstrual cycles are now irregular.

We love NCRM! We conceived our son through intrauterine insemination (IUI) in 2018. We are now undergoing IVF to grow our family, and everything is going well. They provide excellent medical care, and everyone is positive, welcoming, and helpful. We are very grateful to their team and hopeful about the future.

NCRM failed to inform me promptly of a clinically significant ultrasound finding that could have helped diagnose the cause of my infertility. Another clinic quickly diagnosed my condition 10 months later. Only after paying to obtain my medical records did I discover that the finding had been documented during my final treatment cycle at NCRM but was never communicated to me. As a result, I lost nearly a year of valuable time while my condition worsened. Poor communication between clinicians and the front desk was common. On one occasion, I might have been overcharged for an ultrasound if I had not challenged it. During another billing issue, the finance department did not know the price of the genetic screening quoted to every new patient. I ultimately had to contact the already busy clinical team to ask how to resolve the billing problem. Communication with one particular clinician was also frequently unpleasant. When I had an unusual reaction to a medication and asked her to explain it, she was cold and dismissive. She recommended canceling a cycle, but documented in my chart that I canceled because I felt uncomfortable. When reviewing my records, I found notes that did not match my recollection of what was discussed during appointments. This clinician no longer works there, but that does not erase our experience with her. The clinic became noticeably less responsive later in treatment. Once, I received a return call only after several hours because clinic staff had scheduled the wrong treatment. They told me I had to call the front desk myself and explain the issue again to arrange the correct treatment. I understand the pressure fertility centers currently face, but it does not excuse poor attention to detail. After our most recent treatment was canceled because of illness, the clinic did not follow up at all, although the doctor apologized six months later when we scheduled a follow-up to discuss other testing. I want to thank Katherine for always being kind; I was happy whenever I could reach her. Rianne was also very kind, and it was clear that she carefully reviewed my chart before appointments.

This place was and remains my chosen path. However, because of my age and irregular periods, it has not been as easy as I imagined.

NCRM has an amazing team. They are warm, friendly, helpful, and genuinely supportive. They make sure your questions are answered and that you feel comfortable. What a wonderful team and an incredible group of people!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Whitten and his team. Because my tubes were tied, we scheduled a consultation to explore our options for having a child. I had spoken with an out-of-town doctor who essentially crushed our dream, but Dr. Whitten changed everything. We were so pleased with the consultation that we proceeded with an IVC procedure. We received extensive information, and everything was explained clearly. There were never any hidden costs or surprises. His team made us comfortable, and whenever we had questions, we received immediate answers. The entire process went smoothly, and we felt very confident in Dr. Whitten's guidance. My husband and I are now expecting our first child, due at the end of June. We feel extremely fortunate and grateful for Dr. Whitten and his wonderful office staff. We have more embryos to transfer and look forward to returning to him to do it all again. Dr. Whitten is wonderful, patient, and gentle. I highly recommend him!

These people are not very helpful. Treatment moves extremely slowly, and money seems to matter more than my health or fertility concerns. I have been coming here for 2 years and am still not pregnant.
