I want to share my experience at Frisco IVF because I wish I had seen similar information before undergoing a hysterosalpingogram (HSG).
I went for a routine HSG as part of a fertility evaluation. The doctor briefly explained the procedure and said it was a routine, low-risk test. I followed all pre-procedure instructions exactly and was not given prophylactic antibiotics.
The HSG itself was uncomfortable but tolerable at the time. Several weeks later, however, I developed worsening pelvic pain, bloating, and other symptoms inconsistent with normal recovery. Over the following days, my symptoms worsened instead of improving.
After further evaluation, I was diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This was extremely distressing physically and emotionally, especially because I had no signs of infection before the procedure. I needed additional treatment and recovery time, significantly affecting my fertility journey and overall health, as well as causing financial strain from an emergency visit, multiple medical appointments, and time away from work.
The hardest part was the lack of clear communication and support afterward. Although the test is generally considered routine, I felt that the potential risks and warning signs were not emphasized enough and that I was not adequately prepared for this type of complication.
I am sharing this not to discourage necessary fertility testing, but to encourage patients to ask detailed questions beforehand about infection risks, antibiotic protocols, and which symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Fertility treatment is already physically and emotionally demanding, so patients deserve thorough counseling and attentive follow-up whenever they experience symptoms after a procedure.

Getting someone to response back is frustrating. Team needs a manager that puts the pts first and address the multiple complaints already stated in several reviews. Getting someone to response back via email(pt portal) or phone call is a nightmare. Be prepared to get delayed or ignored messages. Also billing is horrible. They have no explanation for anything and will push procedures out so they can get more out of your pocket. I have sent two different email via pt portal about my concerns and seems like nothing has been done to correct or better the situation. Been with the clinic for 6 months and have not been closer to our goal. Frustrating.

This is my honest review of Dr. Ku, not his administrative, laboratory, or medical staff. It is long and may contain upsetting content, so please read with caution.
My husband and I wasted more than three precious years and a great deal of money with Dr. Ku. As this was our first experience with a clinic and reproductive endocrinologist, we began with an open mind and no preconceptions or unrealistic expectations. Given our age, we understood our chances of success when we consulted him. At first, Dr. Ku was warm, confident, and professional, but his confidence and professionalism gradually faded during treatment. We had one spontaneous pregnancy and three frozen embryo transfers, two of which resulted in pregnancy. Sadly, every pregnancy ended in miscarriage before 9 weeks.
After my final successful transfer ended in another miscarriage, I was taken to a consultation room. Dr. Ku told me it was in my best interest either to remove several small fibroids—which did not affect conception or maintaining a pregnancy—or to “borrow a uterus” before trying another transfer. He said this to me in front of a relative shortly after his staff confirmed that my final ultrasound, before I left the clinic, showed no fetal heartbeat. I had trusted Dr. Ku and his medical expertise for years, and his cold, insensitive manner shocked me. My relative was also disgusted by the way he treated me. I could no longer trust or spend money on someone who treated patients this way.
That evening I found CRE in Dallas. The next month, my husband and I consulted Dr. Saleh and transferred our records and embryos, and we have never regretted it. A simple test identified the cause of our recurrent miscarriages. With a new treatment protocol, I became pregnant after our first transfer at CRE. Twelve months after leaving Dallas IVF, I delivered a healthy daughter at full term without complications. And yes, my small fibroids are still there!
Today, looking at my chubby three-month-old baby, I wonder what my life would be like if I had followed Dr. Ku's advice or had not found a more understanding, capable, and considerate reproductive endocrinologist. I am not writing this to disparage Dr. Ku, but to share my experience and encourage anyone questioning the quality of their care to advocate for themselves. My case was complicated, and unfortunately Dr. Ku did not diagnose it correctly. Eventually I found someone who did. It was a gamble, but completely worthwhile and rewarding. Please do not give up. You owe it to yourself to keep going. This process is already stressful and expensive enough. Why not make the most of it and spend your hard-earned money more wisely?

Overall, I had a good visit. The doctor clearly explained my condition and treatment options, which I appreciated, and I felt confident in the recommendations.
The pace could be improved. At times it felt rushed, and having more time to ask questions or discuss concerns would make the experience better.
Still, communication was clear and the doctor's guidance was helpful, so overall it was a positive visit.

The front desk and nurses provide terrible service. Communication is extremely poor, and they almost never answer the phone. Although the messaging platform can resolve some issues, sometimes you really need to speak with a person. IVF is already highly stressful, and this clinic’s support staff make it worse. Dr. Gu is highly skilled, but he cannot do everything alone. The clinic should hire more employees who genuinely care about patients!

Over three years, we completed three rounds of IVF at Dallas IVF Frisco. Unfortunately, every treatment failed. The experience was physically and emotionally challenging, leaving us frustrated, depressed, and without answers about our infertility and recurrent miscarriages. That was in September 2024.
Fast-forward to 2025: we returned to our hometown, found a new doctor, and are now expecting our first baby.

The billing problems are terrible! I saw Dr. Barnett in 2023. Two years later, on the day after Christmas while the clinic was closed, we received a text demanding payment of an unexplained balance or threatening collections. They also sent a portal message with no subject or content. The billing department is extremely unprofessional!

I am extremely disappointed with the billing practices at Dallas IVF/Fertility Specialists of Frisco.
I was seen in December 2023, provided my insurance information, and paid my portion. My insurer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, processed and paid the claim in January 2024, as clearly documented on their statement.
Nearly two years later, without any phone call, email, mailed bill, or other attempted contact, I received a “final notice” text saying my account had been sent to collections. When I called, the billing representative gave inconsistent explanations, incorrectly labeled the visit as “self-pay,” and was dismissive and unhelpful, despite documentation showing insurance payment and a contractual adjustment.
Sending an insured visit to collections because of an internal bookkeeping error, without proper notice, is unacceptable.

I recently met with Dr. Ku by telemedicine to discuss my fertility options. At first, I felt relieved to finally meet a doctor who understood me, showed empathy, and paid attention to my situation. I was pleased to move forward with treatment—we agreed on the next steps, and he even thanked me for being willing to travel to Dallas for the recommended testing. I left the consultation hopeful and reassured that my fertility care was finally progressing.
However, I later received a portal message from Dallas IVF stating without explanation that they could not continue treating me because ‘sometimes patients accept certain treatment plans and sometimes they do not,’ even though I had agreed to every recommended next step. I repeatedly called and sent messages asking for an explanation but received no response.
Given how emotional, stressful, and vulnerable the fertility journey can be, I reasonably expected a fertility clinic to communicate clearly and compassionately. Their lack of transparency, abrupt termination of my care, and complete silence afterward left me confused and deeply disappointed.
In my experience, Dallas IVF is unreliable. Although they may appear caring, their actions showed otherwise.

If genetic testing matters to you, go elsewhere. We initially came here because Dr. Gu wanted to screen for a specific balanced translocation. He ordered testing and gave us the results.
After consulting another geneticist, however, we learned that Dr. Gu had not ordered the correct test at all. Consider what else he may fail to do properly, potentially causing harm to you or your family.

This review is long overdue. After two painful years of infertility at another clinic, my wife and I transferred to Dallas IVF. Choosing Dr. Gu was the best decision we ever made. His team was thorough, attentive, and professional. As a same-sex couple, we felt incredibly supported. I truly cannot express our gratitude. Because of Dr. Gu, we now have a healthy, lively, perfect 1-year-old daughter—and she is also why this review took so long! We are wonderfully busy. Before changing clinics, we had several IUI cycles and, after a very disappointing egg retrieval, four failed FETs. With Dr. Gu, the difference was remarkable. Dr. Barnett never remembered who I was or what we had discussed at our previous appointment. Every appointment/discussion felt rushed and overly formal, and I always left confused about the next steps. The entire office staff seemed miserable, as though they hated their jobs and did not want to be there. They never called to schedule follow-up appointments. I constantly had to follow up and remind them that they were supposed to call me to schedule. But believe me, if you owe them money, they will not forget to call when payment is due. To them, I was nothing more than a bank account. Certainly not a woman longing to have a child. Helping people have children seemed to be their lowest priority. Their business is making money, not helping people become parents.

In November 2024, I had a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) with Dr. Ku. My brief interaction with him was positive, so I have nothing negative to say about him, but the overall experience was a nightmare. Scheduling the appointment was a nightmare. The actual appointment was even worse. I was in so much pain that I nearly passed out on the procedure table, and I could not remember or understand what he told me. Trying to obtain the exact results or find someone to discuss them with was a nightmare. Now, 6 months later, I have unexpectedly received a $93 bill.
I am actually considering repeating the HSG or having a similar test with my current doctor just to confirm whether the blocked fallopian tube result was accurate, because I do not trust my original experience at Dallas IVF at all. It was both stressful and painful.

The ultrasound techs for being thorough and patient when I asked so many questions, this process is scary, but you always were encouraging and put me at ease! The phlebotomist, thank you for always getting my blood without having to stick me multiple times! The nurses, you helped execute the plans flawlessly! First, I want to say that I do believe this clinic can be excellent. However, that was not my husband’s and my overall experience. After learning that Dr. Ku specializes in this diagnosis, we contacted him for a second opinion about my diminished ovarian reserve. We had already completed 3 IVF cycles at another clinic and produced only one low-level mosaic embryo. When we first met Dr. Ku, we felt very hopeful because he had reviewed our history and had a plan for what he wanted to try. We also said that if we did not have success, we might try transferring our low-level mosaic embryo. He gave no indication that this would be a problem. Only after another failed IVF cycle did he tell us he would not transfer our embryo because of the lower chance of success, even though after everything we had endured, it was our only embryo. At that moment, it genuinely felt as though he cared only about his success rate. This was disappointing because until then he had made us feel very well cared for.
After that conversation, we decided to explore embryo donation and expressed interest in working with their internal bank. We contacted the appropriate person and understood that the process might take time. However, we completed all the forms and were told someone would review them within a few weeks, confirm whether changes were needed, and officially add us to the waiting list. That was 5 months ago, and no one has contacted us about anything since. We do not even know whether our forms were approved and we are simply waiting for a match. We wanted to like this clinic but are disappointed, to say the least.

Dr. Ku is truly one of the kindest people you will ever meet! His positive energy makes IVF easier. I completed two rounds, and despite my infertility issues, God and Dr. Ku gave us a baby boy! He is now three months old, and without finding Dr. Ku, we might never have become parents. I recommend him to everyone!
