The posted hours are wrong. I drove for an hour only to find them closed. Also, stop telling patients that pharmacies carry sterile specimen cups—they do not. I wasted an entire afternoon looking for one. This place clearly does not care.

RMA LI remains in business because Suffolk County lacks a reliable, research-driven, results-focused IVF center. Our first pregnancy experience was excellent and occurred after our first embryo transfer at our original clinic, a legitimate nonprofit research institution. However, after moving an hour away to Suffolk and having a young child, we felt that traveling back and forth before dawn for monitoring was too inconvenient. We looked around and found RMA Long Island. The reviews seemed good, so we chose them. From day one, they were extremely aggressive about copays. The first thing they said after ‘hello’ was, ‘You owe a copay.’ At our first appointment, they made us pay $250 even though my insurance did not require it. When I questioned them, they said, ‘You now have a credit on file.’ They collected a copay at every visit. Once the monitoring period began, they should no longer have charged copays, but they continued until we spoke up. When you point out these issues, they apologize, say, ‘You have a credit on file,’ and tell you that you will not have to pay next time. You really must closely monitor the private insurance claims submitted by RMA LI. Several times, I had to dispute charges because my insurer’s website showed I owed nothing, yet they charged me and said, ‘You have a credit on file.’ I mentioned that we had a healthy pregnancy at another clinic, so we naturally had several frozen embryos. RMA LI told us that even if we transported the embryos ourselves, we had to pay a $700 administrative fee. We merely borrowed their empty tank for transport. We had two failed cycles at RMA Long Island, resulting in emotional harm and financial loss. They use a one-size-fits-all approach for every patient. During both IVF cycles, they never adjusted my progesterone dose, even though adjusting it based on blood test results is standard practice in IVF. At our first clinic, the dose was always adjusted according to my bloodwork. This shows that RMA Long Island does not give individualized attention to patients’ test results and unique needs. After the first failed IVF cycle, they did not change or prescribe any medications or perform any tests. They simply confirmed that our insurance had enough funds remaining to cover another cycle and continued. They again emphasized copays and made sure we paid before the scheduled implantation date. After the second cycle failed, we wanted a phone discussion with Dr. Kenigsberg, which we felt was the least they could do, but they again said we had to pay a copay for the call. That was the final straw. We decided to return our remaining embryos to our first clinic. Again, we transported them ourselves. Our first clinic did not charge any ‘administrative fee.’ RMA Long Island, however, again demanded a $500 administrative fee to release our embryos. I asked for their written policy regarding these repeated fees and reminded them that I had already paid a $700 administrative fee when bringing the embryos in. They then went silent and did not charge the additional $500. I am certain they had already extracted enough profit from me and my insurance. Finally, when we began treatment at RMA Long Island, only my husband could drive, so we had to bring our 2-year-old to the clinic because all appointments were in the morning. After the first visit, they specifically told us not to bring our child again because children were not allowed. From then on, throughout my two IVF cycles, my husband and 2-year-old stayed in the car for every appointment. The entire clinic team, including the doctors, was pleasant. Kenigsberg Hospital was extremely cold and indifferent to patients’ circumstances. They are purely profit-driven and focused on making as much money as possible.

I found the Patchogue office fundamentally disorganized. I was an outside monitoring patient from RMA New Jersey, and my orders were faxed. I called to confirm they had received them, and they said they had. I arrived for my appointment only to find the office closed and learn that I was supposed to go to Stony Brook. When I asked why no one had called me, they did not know. Somehow they had no orders, and I was not on the schedule at either location. The NPs I saw at Stony Brook and Patchogue were wonderful, as were the MAs. Maribel at Stony Brook was also very sweet. I had no issue with the staff I personally encountered; the problem was mainly how the office operated. I do not understand why I could not access my own blood test results or why they lacked a better system for sending reports beyond faxing them and seeing a delivery confirmation. I consider canceled appointments and lost orders serious issues that should be corrected, although the administration apparently does not.

This was a terrible experience from start to finish. They delivered the worst news with smiles on their faces and were condescending and rude at best. I will list only some of what happened, but the entire experience was awful. The doctor assigned blame to whichever partner was the "problem," making me feel so terrible and guilty that I nearly decided not to try again. One ovary had seven follicles; 6 eggs were retrieved and none fertilized, which can happen. This was my second retrieval; the first was not at RMA. My first cycle with a San Ramon doctor was partly successful: I became pregnant but miscarried in the second month. We used RMA for the second cycle because they participated in a grant program. We received a 2% grant. I still have not received any refund for the genetic testing fee we had to pay upfront. They participate in the Department of Health grant but have their own application rules. I would not recommend this McDonald's of IVF clinics. The only positives were that the medical assistant was excellent at blood draws, there was little waiting, and the location was convenient. Choose a doctor who makes you feel comfortable, cares for you, and knows your name. They called me by the wrong name at every visit, and even at retrieval the doctor completely confused my name although it was clearly written in the records. Strangely, they were about to wheel me into the room before realizing they had the wrong patient. Another patient had exactly the same name as me and was ten years younger. I do not know how this confusion happened when they ask your name repeatedly. Fortunately, the nurse noticed before the doctor entered after calling me a different but similar-sounding name. Imagine if my embryos had someone else's name?!? After reading all the reviews, I know I am not alone. If something feels wrong, do your research and move on. God bless all prospective mothers.

I have been with them for more than 6 months and have had a very good experience. Everyone has been extremely supportive throughout this journey.

Age 25 and a childhood cancer survivor since age 14, I came here to freeze my eggs as a backup option for the future. I am unsure whether I want children but wanted the option. Every staff member was amazing—kind, helpful, accommodating, insightful, and more. I completed three cycles over 7 months and just finished my last one. I will always highly recommend them to everyone I know. It was frightening and difficult, but they made it so easy. If I ever did this again, this is the best and only place I would use. Thank you, RMA team!!!
