I had a very poor experience with Kofinas Fertility Group and want to share it to help others make an informed decision. At the beginning, they told me they were in network with my UHC Empire Plan. Based on that information, I proceeded with testing. After the claims were processed, I learned that although part of the office visit was covered, imaging performed by the doctor in the same clinic was classified as out of network and denied. This was never explained in advance. For comparison, while living in Florida, I visited two IVF clinics using the same New York City insurance plan. Both provided a detailed cost breakdown before I met the doctor, including what was covered, what was not, and a reasonable estimate of out-of-pocket costs. That transparency was essential, and this clinic did not provide it. Communication was a serious problem. For example, they never proactively mentioned the cost of my husband’s semen analysis. I learned about it only because I specifically asked during the scheduling call. Otherwise, it would have been an unpleasant surprise at the appointment. I also know that this service would have been covered if the clinic were truly in network. This is only one example of how they handled matters. When I began asking questions, the answers were vague. They said they would “cover” the denied charges but provided nothing in writing. At the same time, they said I would still be responsible for some major procedures and tests. When I requested clear pricing, they said the costs depended on the insurer’s reimbursement rate, making it difficult to understand what I would actually owe. The financial responsibility meeting was also uncomfortable. I asked basic questions, and the representative seemed impatient. When I spoke with a supervisor, the tone was dismissive, with no acknowledgment that I had previously been told the clinic was in network. None of the calls were recorded, so there was no way to verify the conversations. I must say that the clinical staff at the Staten Island location were truly wonderful. In every interaction, they were kind, patient, and supportive. They were the best part of my experience. Dr. Peter had a calm manner, but I personally found it difficult to fully trust his guidance when the points he emphasized did not align with the overall treatment plan. Consistency is essential to me when making major medical and financial decisions. Fertility treatment is already extremely stressful, and patients should not have to deal with insurance and billing confusion. Clear information before any testing should be standard. If you are considering this clinic, I strongly recommend that you: Confirm all costs in writing, including which services are in network Request a detailed cost breakdown in advance Confirm how imaging, laboratory tests, and procedures will be billed I wish I had done this before coming here.

They are incredibly thoughtful and make you feel fully supported at every step of treatment. Dr. B is truly exceptional—knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. He takes time to explain everything, answer questions, and ensure you feel comfortable and confident. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients and their success. This team goes above and beyond to provide not only excellent medical care but also essential emotional support throughout treatment. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking a caring, encouraging, and understanding environment.

I had such a wonderful experience with Kofinas Fertility. After years of infertility and miscarriages, Dr. B was exactly the doctor I needed. He is patient, spends time with you, and answers all your questions. I truly trust him and his recommendations. The nurses are very warm and friendly. I had several procedures at the Manhattan Reproductive Surgery Center and truly felt I received the best care from all the doctors and nurses. I have one healthy Kofinas IVF baby and am now expecting another. Highly recommended!

I am very pleased with this office and the Manhattan office. Everyone, from the nurses to the front desk, is cheerful. Dr. B is very kind, always understands my concerns, and investigates everything thoroughly without leaving anything unexplored. I am beginning my IUI journey and hope this is my last stop.

Dr. Brzechffa is wonderful and is the reason I stayed with Kofinas! He always explains everything thoroughly and goes above and beyond to answer questions. Sadie took excellent care of me and was incredible at every step.
