Update: It has now been more than a year. Since then, they migrated their billing system, at least for egg storage, and I have experienced registration, payment, and customer-service problems. I therefore stand by my review. Overall, I would not recommend Shady Grove Fertility to anyone seeking these services and would advise choosing another fertility provider. If you must use Shady Grove, I strongly advise against the Arlington clinic. The process and my interactions with Shady Grove Fertility’s Arlington clinic began well. I expected egg freezing to be smooth, professional, and standard, but those hopes quickly disappeared. Problems included their failure to order all necessary tests at once, requiring repeated testing and wasted visit fees; a disorganized process that forced me to request information urgently at the last minute; a treatment schedule inconsistent with what I was told during update calls; major appointment delays caused by overbooking and overcommitting; having to visit multiple clinics, with physicians providing different next-step plans; being instructed to take medication I did not have, creating confusion; and staff unwilling to help when timing problems arose. By the time of my egg retrieval, I had lost confidence and trust in the process. While signing consent forms, I was uncomfortable with a provision allowing photographs ‘for educational purposes.’ They responded, ‘Oh, that is not really allowed, so you can cross it out. I do not know why it is still there.’ This was deeply concerning from a legal consent perspective. Finally, the most frustrating part was my follow-up call. I asked the physician for more information for the future, and she said she would adjust the current protocol, including a different trigger and a more aggressive medication regimen. Someone with the same initial laboratory results who froze eggs at a leading New York clinic had received high-dose medication and a different trigger from the beginning. I feel I was denied the opportunity to do the process properly the first time.

I had the privilege of completing three rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI) under Dr. Malik’s care at Shady Grove Fertility, and I cannot praise her and her team enough. From the beginning, Dr. Malik showed extraordinary compassion, empathy, and attentiveness. She carefully listened to my concerns and clearly explained every step, making me feel genuinely cared for not only as a patient but as a person. Having a physician who was both highly skilled and emotionally supportive meant everything to me. I formed a strong connection with Dr. Malik and her team, and their kindness and professionalism helped me remain hopeful throughout. I am deeply grateful for everything they did to support and accompany me during such an important period of my life. Thank you, Dr. Malik and the Shady Grove team, for your care, encouragement, and unwavering support. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

We cannot say enough good things about our team—Dr. Nair and our nurses Rebecca and Olivia. They were compassionate, understanding, and encouraging. They explained everything clearly without sugarcoating it. Our journey was not smooth, but I always felt I had an excellent team beside me through the hardest times. I had a wonderful experience working with Dr. Nair and nurse Rebecca at Shady Grove. Thanks to the SGF team, I have a healthy baby girl, something that would not have been possible without them. I had an appointment with Dr. Nair to discuss possible fertility treatment options. From the first visit, she was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. She patiently answered my questions and eased my concerns. Fortunately, my husband and I did not need any of Dr. Nair's services and conceived a few months later! After my test was positive, Dr. Nair and nurse practitioner Olivia were amazing. They gave me tremendous reassurance, support, and guidance, and of course shared in my excitement! Thank you both for your knowledge, encouragement, and advice... and for taking the first ultrasound pictures!

Shady Grove played a vital role in helping us successfully build our family. We have a healthy toddler and expect our second baby in October. They balance a focus on outcomes with giving patients the autonomy to choose the most appropriate treatment plan. They are experienced in treating patients of advanced maternal age and eager to help. I always recommend them, and Dr. Reh, to friends seeking fertility support.

My husband and I came to Shady Grove Fertility later in life hoping to have a child, and we were fortunate to meet Dr. Reh. We were very nervous about fertility treatment, but Dr. Reh and her entire team were kind, explained everything clearly, and made us feel at ease. Before we began full treatment, Dr. Reh recommended several tests and vaccinations, and miraculously, we conceived naturally! Everyone on the team genuinely celebrated with us, which meant so much. I am only 15 weeks pregnant, so there is still a long way to go, but I am truly grateful to Dr. Reh for helping us achieve this pregnancy. If we decide to have another child, we will definitely return to her!

I cannot thank Shady Grove Fertility and Dr. Reh enough for helping us through our IVF journey and making our dream of becoming parents a reality. As a 39-year-old, I knew the odds were against us, but thanks to their expertise and guidance, we were able to retrieve one genetically viable embryo that resulted in a successful transfer. Shady Grove’s multiple locations made it so convenient to attend all of my monitoring appointments, and their early hours and efficient staff ensured my visits were quick with minimal disruption to my work schedule. Dr. Reh and her nurse team were always in touch, providing updates, reassurance, and guidance throughout the entire process. Dr. Reh also tailored a medication regimen specifically for me to give me the best possible chance at success, and it worked. My pregnancy went smoothly, and I was released from Shady Grove at 8 weeks gestation. A few weeks ago, I delivered a healthy baby boy, and I could not be more grateful. Becoming a mom is the greatest gift of my life, and I owe it to Dr. Reh and the amazing team at Shady Grove. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone going through this journey. Very transactional experience here. Example: The Dr. failed to review our discrete issues before an appointment and when we brought some of them up, her response showed us that she failed to review our file/testing and instead only was regurgitating what is available on the NIH website. Billing is a nightmare: we were over billed (then refunded). Several tests were inputted incorrectly when ordered, just causing more stress during the already stressful process. Look elsewhere

I am a physician, and my wife and I came to Shady Grove Fertility after cancer caused fertility problems. We hoped they would bring some light to an extremely difficult time, but we were shocked by repeated errors, incompetence, and disregard for detail. The worst issue involved Dr. Reh. After our initial meeting, she created an intrauterine insemination (IUI) plan. My rough calculation showed that her planned 3 vials of semen amounted to only about 15% of a normal IUI, making it nearly pointless. We repeatedly requested a follow-up to understand why. Our concern proved justified: when we raised the issue several times, Dr. Reh clearly did not understand why she had created that plan. Without us, the problem might never have been found. Her carelessness would have wasted our time, samples, and money. Rather than apologize or acknowledge the error, she said, "Well, I see many patients every day..." This was appalling and unacceptable. The administrative team made other smaller but equally careless errors. They requested lab results submitted weeks earlier. We sent the intake coordinator Jessica 7 follow-up emails before she responded. She said we needed a form but never sent it. After weeks of follow-up, she replied that it was attached, but it still was not. We escalated the issue to senior managers Leah Valentine and Katie Martino, who acknowledged it but took no action. As of this review, I still have not received the form. We finally left for another clinic. We lost four months of trying to conceive and hundreds of dollars, but hope our experience helps others avoid the same outcome. Family planning requires meticulous care, and this clinic clearly cannot provide it.

The person who answered the phone was unprofessional, and the amount of information required for registration was absurd, from personal details and a Social Security number to the date of marriage (why do they need that?). I understand their concern about clients not paying, but scheduling an appointment should not require such an extensive process or all of our personal information. When we canceled, they were unhappy, kept insisting that we reschedule, and even hung up on me (no thanks). Think carefully before scheduling there. Other locations may provide better service.

Over the past five or six years, we had excellent experiences at SGF Arlington and other nearby locations. Under Dr. Malik's guidance, we were fortunate to complete several IVF cycles and ultimately have two healthy babies.

My husband and I scheduled a consultation with Shady Grove Fertility and Dr. Reh because we plan to start a family in the near future and wanted to gather information in advance, including learning about health concerns and medical history affecting both of us. Instead of feeling welcomed and supported, however, we felt judged and discouraged. From the beginning, the entire appointment felt dismissive. We felt as though we should not have come so early, even though our goal was simply to obtain important information. Several of our questions were brushed aside or minimized instead of receiving the understanding and clear answers they deserved. The information the clinic provided was confusing and disorganized. We left still unsure about the next steps or what we should consider going forward. Worse, the clinic's overall atmosphere added to the poor experience. The staff were rigid and cold, as though helping patients were an inconvenience rather than part of the clinic's responsibility. Many of our questions received only answers such as 'That is not my responsibility' or 'You need to ask someone else,' without clear guidance about whom to ask or what to do next. Honestly, the front desk staff were the only people we encountered who made us feel comfortable. Fertility care is an extremely sensitive field requiring close attention to patients. Patients should feel supported, respected, and fully informed, especially during an initial consultation. We did not experience any of that here.

Five stars! Dr. Malik and everyone at SGF, including the nurses, front desk staff, and laboratory technicians, gave my husband and me exceptional support throughout IVF. Together they created an encouraging, hopeful environment that sustained us even when we felt hopeless. Although SGF physicians are in high demand, Dr. Malik always made time to speak or meet with me and never made me feel like a burden, even when I repeatedly asked her and the nurses questions. She is the most thoughtful and kind physician I have met, as well as highly skilled. She was open to different ideas and never made me feel there was only one possible path. I highly recommend her to anyone considering fertility treatment. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Shady Grove is like buying a timeshare. They use bait-and-switch tactics and will not disclose the total cost of the entire process. They draw you in with videos, genetic testing, and unnecessary appointments. Only after you have wasted time and money on various tests and spent months being encouraged to continue do they finally tell you that IVF costs 37000 dollars.

This place was a disaster. I was treated by Dr. Rachana V. Garde at Shady Grove Fertility in Fairfax, and my care disregarded patient safety and medical judgment. Despite laboratory results showing a follicle-stimulating hormone level of 2.88 ng/mL and estradiol of 5,403 pg/mL, both clearly indicating a high risk of OHSS, Dr. Garde ignored the warnings, made no adjustments, and continued treatment. I was not warned, protected, or offered alternatives. As a result, I developed severe OHSS, experienced unbearable pain, and had to call 911 in the middle of the night. I was taken to the emergency room, diagnosed with a blood clot, and received emergency care. After retrieval, I was told most of my follicles had already ovulated, meaning the cycle was not only painful but also poorly managed and ineffective. The emotional trauma, physical suffering, and thousands of dollars in avoidable medical costs continue to affect my life. It took me more than a month to gather the strength to write this review. Whenever I think about the neglect, silence, and resulting harm, I relive one of the worst experiences of my life. No patient should experience this.

During my IVF treatment, SGF gave me the wrong medication midway through the cycle. Although the doctor informed me of the error, they did not apologize or meaningfully acknowledge what I experienced as a person during an already vulnerable treatment process. Ethically, this is concerning. Doctors follow the principle of 'do no harm,' and although mistakes happen, failing to acknowledge or apologize for them only compounds the harm. When I asked them to recognize the emotional impact this had on me, they only reimbursed the medication cost—nothing more. I had to inject a medication I never consented to and would never have used unless absolutely necessary. This experience mattered to me, but it seemed not to matter to those providing my care. At times, I felt less like a person and more like a number in a system. When something goes wrong, you may find yourself treated the same way. If you have had a similar experience at SGF, I encourage you to speak up. Leave a review. File a complaint with the Virginia Board of Medicine. Consider contacting the Virginia Attorney General's Office so they are aware of the clinic's pattern of care. Every voice matters; together, we can make the system more accountable and humane.

The information our coordinator/nurse sent my wife through the portal was often factually incorrect and even contradicted the doctor's information. We frequently had to send multiple messages to get a response about this very important part of our care, and replies were always significantly delayed. Billing was a complete disaster. It was nearly impossible to reach anyone except through the portal, responses took days, and they almost never addressed the actual issue. Once, when we finally managed to escalate a problem, we went from being told we had overpaid and had a large credit to owing a substantial amount within days. This was clearly not because of treatment, but because they could not provide accurate information. It also took us several literal months to finally receive an itemized bill. I am still trying to piece together the 17-page statement, which I suspect is intended to overwhelm us. The doctor was nice, although it was painful to learn after several cycles that research suggested trying a different approach. I do not know whether it would have worked better, but come on. This is painful enough already. I do not know how many other providers are within a reasonable distance, but given how expensive IVF usually is, it is best to find somewhere that will not take advantage of you. Good luck.

Dr. Levens and the Shady Grove team are truly angels on earth. Over the past 13 years, I worked with two different fertility teams while trying for our second baby. With the other teams, I always felt overlooked. How could they move so many patients through so quickly while investing so little in them? At Shady Grove, I never felt rushed. At our first appointment, Dr. Levens was thorough, kind, and honest about our chances of becoming parents through different paths. We ultimately chose donor eggs because they gave us the best chance of becoming parents again. We had several detours, underwent a few procedures to make sure everything was right, and canceled several cycles because we were not where we needed to be. Dr. Levens and Stephanie were responsive and always explained what was happening. They made every step and what came next easy to understand. Dr. Levens always communicated with genuine compassion, whether the news was good or bad. He put my family ahead of his schedule. We graduated this week, and I cannot thank every one of them enough. Do not hesitate to try again or start over. The right team makes all the difference.

I had a very poor experience with a phlebotomist on Sunday, August 17, 2025. 1. She placed the tourniquet too close to the blood-draw site, which obstructed needle insertion and left the area unsterilized. 2. She inserted the needle too forcefully, causing bruising at and around the site. 3. She kept sniffling and appeared ill but was not wearing a mask. Overall, very unprofessional!! This clinic is partly owned by a private equity firm. The problem is that private equity firms focus on annual profit growth rather than staff or patient well-being. Everyone seems overworked and irritable. Dissatisfied employees and doctors lead to dissatisfied patients. This clinic will only get worse.

I am very disappointed with Shady Grove Fertility (Fairfax) because of serious billing and insurance issues. Before starting egg freezing, I called to confirm that they accepted my insurance and was told they did. After treatment began, their financial department said my insurance was not accepted, forcing me to pay entirely out of pocket. Shady Grove Fertility never accepted my insurance and required me to self-pay for all services. Therefore, I had to pay for everything without insurance. But one year later, I received: • A 2024 bill for as much as $3,900, claiming my insurance did not cover the services. After I explained the situation, they finally corrected it to $2,000 a month later. What are they doing!!! This is fraud. My contract also clearly stated a $65 monthly storage fee, but I was charged $80. Worse, starting in July 2025, I was automatically charged twice each month ($160 total). Patients should check every charge carefully. There is no transparency or accountability.

If you are willing to do your own research, prepare, and advocate for yourself, SGF will be an ideal partner. I am currently receiving treatment at SGF Fairfax. Although minor issues inevitably arise, I can confidently say that the SGF team has incredible expertise and provides an excellent community service. Be prepared for unexpected issues such as insurance problems or physical responses; SGF is very good at adapting. Fast, convenient communication is SGF's greatest strength. Messages I send through the portal are usually answered within 24 hours and rarely take 48. Scheduling is easy, and the front desk staff work hard to accommodate last-minute needs. Finances are complex throughout healthcare. My insurer made mistakes and created obstacles at several stages of treatment. My financial counselor, Kimberly O., is amazing. She communicates quickly and effectively among me, my insurer, and my clinical team. She is very patient and responds remarkably quickly to both routine requests and unexpected urgent issues. My doctor is Dr. Garde, and my experience has been very good so far. I hope to share more details after I ‘graduate’ from SGF. I especially want to recognize the nursing team: Danielle and Jacqueline are angels. They went above and beyond to help with unexpected situations, and their level of care amazed me. The clinic is busy and fast-paced, yet they remain attentive to every patient, demonstrating exceptional skill and selfless compassion. The “Shady Grove” organization is like buying a timeshare. They use bait-and-switch tactics. They will not disclose the final cost of the entire process. They draw you in with videos, genetic testing, and unnecessary appointments, and only after you have wasted all that time and money on testing and spent months being led along do they finally tell you that the entire process will cost $37000.

Hello everyone! I do not usually write reviews, but I suddenly wanted to write one for Ariana E. I have piercings and tattoos, yet I am afraid of needles. I hate blood draws because they always hurt. Ariana E is incredibly gentle! My veins are small and often require several attempts, but Ariana always succeeds on the first try, without pain. Once she told me she was finished and I had not even realized she had inserted the needle. I never imagined I would be an SGF patient, but I am truly grateful you have her. She calms me and makes blood draws very easy. I usually develop large bruises on my arms, but that has never happened with Ariana. Ariana, thank you for taking such attentive care of your patients!

I have held this in for four months and finally need to let it all out. The only reason we endured it for so long was that we desperately wanted a child and kept trying to remain positive. After four months of treatment, however, all we had was frustration, emotional stress, and a great deal of wasted money. We chose this clinic only because of my insurance. Apart from the kind receptionists and ultrasound nurses, our experience at the Fair Oaks clinic was deeply disappointing. Most staff treated us like a burden, as though we were asking for favors rather than paying patients seeking help. This is difficult to say, but it must be said: one of the two phlebotomists, the taller one, was extremely rude, and based on my observations, her behavior appeared highly discriminatory. I do not say that lightly. I noticed that she treated people very differently. She never returned my greetings or responded when I thanked her and always maintained a cold attitude that made us feel we owed her something. I used to greet her with a smile but eventually realized she did not want our kindness. Yet she gave several other people special attention and was always enthusiastic with them. Once, she even disrupted our appointment time, made us wait more than an hour, and caused us to miss an important meeting without offering a single apology. She simply blamed someone else and maintained the same attitude. People say she is kind only to certain patients—the ones she chooses for 'special treatment.' The female doctor was almost never present. She acted more like an inaccessible celebrity than someone genuinely providing care. She did not listen or help and made us feel completely ignored. My assigned nurse handled only basic administrative work. Whenever I asked a question, she dismissed or minimized it. Once, I asked a straightforward question by phone, and the nurse simply laughed and said she did not know, as though I had asked something foolish. This was extremely unprofessional—if you do not know, you should ask the doctor or find out. It felt as though no one truly cared about us. Even the financial coordinator could not track our payments, causing our treatment to be placed on hold. After a great deal of effort, they finally told us it was just a 'technical issue.' If something goes wrong at this clinic, you are essentially on your own. They appear professional on the surface, but we never felt any real support. This was our first fertility clinic. After everything—the hope, heartbreak, and disappointment—we lost trust in it. The experience took an emotional, financial, and mental toll and was one of the hardest periods of our lives. Even so, we will not give up. We will continue our journey at another fertility clinic. I wish everyone going through this process good luck—please choose your clinic carefully.

If I could give this clinic zero stars, I would. TriCare no longer covers medical services at any Shady Grove clinic. I reported poor care to the patient care coordinator but received no response. To reach her, I had to interrupt her while she laughed on a phone video with two phlebotomists as I waited more than 45 minutes for a blood draw. Federal employees and military members—active duty, reserve, and veterans—no longer receive coverage, while Shady Grove’s fees have increased. Their doctors are cold, uncaring, and unresponsive. I was repeatedly called by other patients’ names, and my doctor misstated my medical history. He also complained that he had spent too much time with me—only 10 minutes after 5 failed cycles—because he was too busy. Their finance department openly violated HIPAA by refusing to provide medical records (PHI) until receiving advance out-of-pocket payment. Care was not individualized, and the care team did not adjust treatment based on current results. Moreover, my partner and I are federal employees. During the government shutdown, when we were unpaid, they denied us care and forced us to stop an IVF cycle already in progress. Please seek care elsewhere. This practice only cares about its bottom line. Its doctors have poor pregnancy outcomes because continuing to charge you when you do not reach your fertility goals is more profitable. They exploit patients, and the finance department often cancels cycles on Friday afternoons when weekend appointments are scheduled. Try these clinics: Columbia Fertility Associates, CCRM Associates, Dr. Rifka, Washington Fertility Center. Best wishes.

We had an amazing experience at Fair Oaks with Dr. Gannon! Thank you so much!!! After years of trying different methods without success, we had nearly lost hope. A friend suggested Shady Grove, and it worked on our first attempt! The team was very attentive and supportive. I am usually afraid of blood draws, but they adjusted the process so I would not faint, and everything went smoothly. The doctor and team explained the entire process in detail, answered all my questions, and continued to help throughout treatment. This made me feel very safe and reassured. I experienced some symptoms and felt overwhelmed, but the team was always there to answer my questions and provide guidance. Billing problems ruined an otherwise excellent care experience. I had a frozen embryo transfer (FET) in early August, and it still has not been billed correctly. I have repeatedly had to go back and forth between Shady Grove and my insurance company to learn the claim status. Shady Grove keeps telling me it is "under review" when it was actually denied two months ago, and they say they recently resubmitted the bill, though my insurer confirmed today that no new claim was filed. They had authorization for the procedure, so the claim should have been straightforward because the same codes were used. I feel passed between claims representatives, with no one taking ownership of the problem or treating it as important. I feel I must scrutinize every billing detail to ensure accuracy, which is extremely frustrating. I suspect the matter is less urgent to Shady Grove because if insurance does not pay, the patient will likely be responsible, which is very discouraging. I will update this review if the matter is resolved.

This clinic and Shady Grove as a whole are scammers. They use bait-and-switch marketing. We provided our insurance information before the appointment, and they told us the service was covered and quoted a price. When we arrived, however, they claimed a fertility exclusion meant the appointment was not covered, told us to self-pay, and charged a higher rate. I called my insurer, and no such exclusion existed; my plan actually covered fertility testing and all related services. I spent hours arguing with Shady Grove customer service before they finally submitted an insurance claim. They kept pushing us to self-pay rather than use insurance so they could charge more. The doctor was good, but they look for ways to keep insurance from covering services so they can collect more. Update: My insurance company approved the claim. This proves they lied in order to charge more.

Jennifer in the financial department is one of the most thoughtful and dedicated people I have worked with in years. She is not only approachable but deeply empathetic, with impeccable communication skills. I could feel how much she cares about her clients, and I was very fortunate to have her help with all my insurance and benefits matters so I could receive the services I needed as quickly as possible. The worst place! A complete scam! This is not a medical clinic but a predatory business model. After wasting more than $30,000 on multiple failed IVF cycles and overpriced medication, my advice is simple: run! This clinic operates like a profit-driven used-car dealership. They do not treat patients as patients; they exploit the desperation and grief driving you to empty your wallet. They profit specifically from your emotional pain and fear of infertility without showing any compassion. The truth behind the “care”: Manipulative sales: They exploit your desire for a family to sell expensive and unnecessary treatments. Questionable data: Do not trust their claimed success rates. Everything is carefully designed to keep the clinic's “business” profitable. Price gouging: Everything, from procedures to medication, is priced far above industry standards. The irony is that once we finally left this place and abandoned their “science,” a miracle happened—we conceived naturally. Do not let these people sell your hope back to you at a premium. Save your money, protect your sanity, and keep trying. Miracles do happen, but not because of the people in this building.

The infertility journey is incredibly difficult and discouraging much of the time, but this clinic always greeted me with warm smiles at my early-morning appointments. They always remembered my name and treated me with great kindness. They consistently responded promptly to my questions through their website or by phone. I just “graduated” from the clinic yesterday, and I will always be grateful to everyone I met there. They were truly wonderful and helped us fulfill our dream of becoming mothers! We can hardly imagine how difficult it is to navigate insurance, approvals, authorizations, verification, and countless other obstacles and institutions. My husband and I faced many setbacks and struggled with the process's complexity, but these three women helped us remain optimistic. We first visited the Leesburg clinic about three years ago and had a terrible experience; my review is on that clinic's page. A friend later recommended Dr. Brown in Fair Oaks. About six months later, I had my first egg retrieval with her, but all the eggs stopped developing after three days. We felt devastated and hopeless, as though we were back at the beginning. Dr. Brown was retiring at the end of the year, and there was not enough time for another retrieval before she left. She said another doctor would be assigned in the new year. We tried again at the beginning of the year with our third doctor. Honestly, we had little hope, but the outcome was unexpectedly good. Dr. Swelstad and his team, including nurse Emily ❤️, were exceptional from beginning to end. From preparing for the second retrieval through the ultrasound after our successful transfer, they did everything possible to help us. I highly recommend them. Thank you for everything!!!

This clinic does not deserve its 4.3 average rating. Here is why: 1. You will feel like just one of their many "patients." 2. Be aware that the doctor there is inexperienced and offers only two IVF protocols regardless of who you are. 3. After two failed IVF cycles, they will strongly recommend donor eggs. 4. You cannot even reach the on-call doctor when you have questions. Considering the enormous amount we all pay for IVF, I find this unreasonable. 5. New nurses lack supervision and sometimes give patients incorrect instructions.

SGF Fair Oaks turned my experience around. I had previously received care from a provider at the Leesburg office, and we were not a good fit. He went so far as to say, "What the hell are you doing?" regarding the more patient treatment plan my husband and I chose, which was fully covered by insurance and aligned with our personal beliefs. We were ready to leave SGF until I was connected with Julie Bobersky. She listened to me, our story, our hopes for the journey, and what we were and were not comfortable with. She personally selected Dr. Brad Swelstad for us at Fair Oaks, and it could not have been a better move. Dr. Swelstad was patient, compassionate, and sensitive to our goals and dreams for our family. He treated our preference for patience with care and offered support and statistics that helped us feel informed and empowered. 2 short months later, after a similarly simple, low-tech treatment plan that was fully covered, we learned that we were expecting. I share my story in the hope of encouraging others to hold fast to their beliefs and what feels comfortable. If you do not feel supported, hold your head high and advocate for yourself and your family. Not all providers are the same, and thankfully, this practice is large enough that you, too, can hopefully find the support and care you need. The Fair Oaks front desk, phlebotomy team, and NP ultrasound specialist were always kind, prompt, respectful, and smiling. The music in the waiting room is always on point!

I highly recommend Dr. Alexandra Gannon and her team. We tried to conceive naturally for years without success and eventually decided to visit SGF to learn more about IVF. Although I had heard that some people disliked the clinic's size and felt it was like a "factory," our experience was nothing like that. From our initial consultation with Dr. Gannon through our final graduation visit, we never felt like just a "number." Dr. Gannon genuinely cares about her patients, and this was evident in every conversation and interaction. She is highly skilled, and she made our experience at SGF so positive. Our nurse coordinator, Sophie, was also outstanding—always warm, gentle, and patient. She answered every one of my many questions. Our nurse, Tiffany, was wonderful as well—always positive, kind, and friendly. Here, they remember your name, know your story, and show a level of care that I have never experienced from any other doctor or nurse. Our IVF transfer was successful, and we graduated from SGF. I miss this core team so much. They do excellent work, and I am sincerely grateful to them. I strongly recommend seeing Dr. Gannon if you can—she is the best.

I came here because I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and wanted someone who genuinely cared and could help me. This clinic made me feel more important than any other clinic had. Before coming here, I saw four OB-GYNs. This clinic found a medication that effectively treated my PCOS without making me ill. This clinic is amazing! Everyone is helpful and friendly and truly knows what they are doing. I have no complaints at all. My nurse, Anna, is always attentive and supports my decisions, whatever I choose. She is also always reachable by phone or portal message. The only drawback is that I sometimes have to go to Woodbridge or Fairfax for monitoring or certain treatments that are available only at another location or when no provider is present. That is not the clinic's fault. I have been a Shady Grove patient in Woodbridge and Fredericksburg since 2020 and honestly highly recommend both clinics! Even Ashley, the financial counselor I worked with through SG, was very professional and knowledgeable about insurance and benefits. I have read about poor experiences at other clinics, but mine has been excellent!

If you are struggling with infertility or uncertain about your path to pregnancy, go to SGF. Dr. Nancy, whose last name I have forgotten, is amazing. Hers is the best fertility clinic team I have encountered. If you need a doctor for fertility concerns, go to SGF. I love her and her team. They once saved my life. I had high blood pressure and did not even know it. During testing and evaluation, the doctor identified it and helped determine the source of my fertility problems. I later saw a cardiologist who confirmed it. In any case, my baby is now 16 months old. Dr. Nancy cares about you and takes every aspect of your health seriously.

Honestly, at one point I thought it would never happen because I experienced nearly every medical setback along the way. However, Dr. Durso and nurse coordinators Vivien and Anna never gave up on us or our dream. My baby girl is only one month old, but she is perfect to me. Whenever I look at her, I remember the journey I completed with the support and encouragement of the Shady Grove team. It was all worthwhile.

My experience at Shady Grove was not positive. I scheduled IUI in 2022 and was very confused about the process and timing. On day 3, I went for an ultrasound and paid for both the ultrasound and IUI. After medication was prescribed, I received a call saying my BMI was too high, which devastated me. I understand the process, but I wish someone had explained it before I traveled to Woodbridge. Years later, I lost the required weight and more, then tried to schedule IUI again. I completed the intake forms and called but never heard back. I have attended another fertility clinic where someone is always available by phone, the office is open 7 days a week, and patients do not wait months for a response. Fortunately, I became pregnant through IUI. Looking back on everything, I do feel I wasted time and money at Shady Grove. The people were kind, but I wish they communicated better.

This will be a long review because I was treated here for several years. In only a few years, we completed 3 natural cycles, 12 intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles, and 1 egg retrieval. I admit there were a few billing errors when claims were submitted to insurance, but they were corrected quickly. Billing issues during treatment are stressful, but these were not deal-breakers because they were resolved promptly. Sadly, Rosario has left; she was wonderful. She cried with me and hugged me after every failed cycle, and I am deeply grateful to her. The new phlebotomist is equally good and very gentle. I am a difficult blood draw, so I am thankful they have someone so skilled! My nurse is Anna. I cannot remember my first nurse's name, but both were very gentle and thoughtful, especially given how many calls they must make to tell patients that cycles have failed. They are sensitive about the nature of each call and know how to communicate with people longing for a child. The entire clinic understands the pain of infertility. Even with secondary infertility, children are not allowed in the clinic because of the sensitivity involved. I saw several physician assistants, and my primary doctor was Dr. Nancy Durso. She is the best. It was clear that she genuinely cared about her patients. She does not do this only for money; she truly wants to help people build families. She would talk with me, ask how I was doing, or chat about music, and I never felt like just another source of revenue at Shady Grove Fredericksburg. I love my team. Sometimes I had to go to Fairfax, which was inconvenient, but I understand they are closed on weekends and timing sometimes requires it. Dr. Durso also performed my egg retrieval in Fairfax. Amazingly, I conceived naturally in the same month as the retrieval, so I never needed a transfer. They monitored my pregnancy until about 10 weeks, then transferred me to my OB-GYN for continued care. About three weeks after my son was born, Anna called to check on us. It was so thoughtful and unexpected! She arranged for me to bring my son to meet the staff—the team that had helped me conceive him. They scheduled it during lunch so patients still undergoing infertility treatment would not encounter a child in the clinic. Even now that my son is here, I remain grateful for their sensitivity toward patients who are still struggling. Overall, the clinic staff are friendly, empathetic, and thoughtful about the sensitive nature of treatment. From the front desk to the nurses, phlebotomist, physician assistants, and of course Dr. Durso, the entire team is wonderful. I am deeply grateful to this clinic, though it feels bittersweet not to need them anymore. Of course, the goal is ultimately not to need them, but you form strong bonds with people who care for you, so leaving can feel sad.

I want to give special thanks to Dr. Durso, Nurse Anna, and Nurse Practitioner Laura. My husband and I are delighted to announce that we are expecting a baby boy in November 2026, thanks to Shady Grove Fertility. My father passed away on March 14, 2025. I had my embryo transfer on March 13, 2026, one day before the first anniversary of his death. I went through three failed intrauterine inseminations (IUIs) and one successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle. It was a long and difficult journey. I enrolled in the IVF high-risk program, which was expensive, but my mother helped me greatly. My employer provides good insurance, but it did not cover any medication costs, so I had to pay out of pocket. Keep in mind that medication costs add up quickly. Also remember that many others are going through the same experience. Keep your spirits up, and stay strong and brave! I would recommend Shady Grove Fertility to anyone who longs to have a family.

I began my journey at SGF Leesburg in October 2024. By April 2025, after one egg retrieval and one transfer, I was pregnant. I am very grateful for the team's work throughout the process, especially reception and nurses Kelly, Claudia, Jackie, and Vanessa. They are highly professional and do their best to meet your needs. From the beginning, Jackie was knowledgeable and friendly and immediately made me comfortable with the clinic. Kelly was my nurse, and her professionalism showed both experience and approachability. I sometimes felt guilty about my many questions, but she always answered promptly without making me feel foolish. Finally, although I did not interact much with Dr. Khan, I appreciated that he promptly gave the staff feedback on my case. This is a wonderful team, and they made my experience feel easy. I know IVF is not actually easy; that feeling was entirely due to this excellent staff.

As a healthcare provider, I know how difficult it is to create such a comprehensive, efficient, and caring environment for patients. Dr. Khan's practice achieves that and more. The nursing team always responded quickly, and he called or messaged me when needed. My appointments were always prompt and on time. Dr. Khan treated me not only as a colleague but, more importantly, as a patient receiving attentive care, for which I am grateful. At my graduation appointment, he hugged me, moving my sister and me to tears. Such compassionate care is rare but essential in today's world, and I am very thankful to have a physician like him. You cannot go wrong choosing him!!!

Infertility is a painful and challenging experience. I did not know what to expect, but the Leesburg team truly made me feel cared for like family. My first IVF embryo transfer ended in miscarriage, which nurse Kelly discovered in the office during my 6-week scan. Claudia, Vanessa, and Kelly made me feel so cared for that I will always remember it. I am deeply grateful that they accompanied me throughout this journey. Dr. Khan is very reserved. He is intelligent and has an excellent team, so you do not interact with him often, but he is highly knowledgeable and patiently explains things when you ask questions. Overall, I have just graduated and am now 10 weeks pregnant, and the Leesburg women were the people I most wanted to tell. Kelly, Claudia, and Vanessa have supported me throughout my pregnancy, and I could not have reached this point without them. I cannot wait to return after my baby is born and introduce her to them. She would not exist without the Leesburg team.

We have been going through this for many years, and it has been truly difficult...but I know I am not the only one, and many people visit SGF every day...Yet Theresa and the other SGF staff recognized my name as soon as I walked in. I did not expect much because I know they can be very busy at times, but even so...they smiled, greeted me, and encouraged me every day. Nurses Claudia and Wendy did more than draw my blood and send me on my way...They always supported me and gave me hope. Nurses Kelly and Stephanie were also always there for me. I had an excellent IVF experience in Leesburg. Dr. Khan is knowledgeable and patient and always offered me the best treatment options. I greatly appreciated the clinic's transparency and clear communication from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about Shady Grove Leesburg. Everyone was helpful throughout and made a stressful situation much easier. Every visit felt welcoming, from Vanessa at the front desk to Claudia and Wendy drawing blood. All the nurses were helpful and caring. My RN coordinator Stephanie was consistently responsive and knowledgeable. I will never forget her empathy when delivering both good and bad news. Financial coordinator Taylor was easy to work with and answered many questions about treatment costs, insurance approvals, and more. Although my SGF doctor is in Fairfax, I often went to Leesburg for monitoring appointments while preparing for our second child. Words cannot describe how wonderful Shady Grove Fertility in Leesburg is. We became pregnant after two intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles. I wanted to wait until we officially welcomed our baby in early December before sharing this review. From our first appointment, every staff member was wonderful. I recently transferred to SGF from another four-letter fertility clinic in our area, and the difference between the two is remarkable. From my first appointment at SGF, I felt truly heard and understood, which I had never experienced before. Dr. Khan believed me, took my concerns seriously, and ultimately helped me obtain the diagnostic procedure I needed. It had a tremendous impact on our outcome, and I am very grateful for his expertise and compassion. He is honest, reliable, and knowledgeable. My intrauterine insemination (IUI) protocol was very different from what I had become accustomed to at my previous clinic, but Dr. Khan was right. Our first IUI was successful. I also want to praise the nursing team. My nurse—hello, Stephanie!—always responded the same day, which made the process much easier. Wendy, Bailey, and all the medical assistants treated me warmly, patiently, and positively at every visit. They made obtaining prescriptions simple and relieved much of the burden of fertility treatment. The clinic is always clean, well arranged, and welcoming. Even the wait times are very short, usually no more than 20 minutes, which I greatly appreciate. The telephone support staff made the transfer process very simple; they were professional, efficient, and reassuring. Overall, my experience at SGF Leesburg was excellent, and I genuinely believe transferring here was essential to our treatment journey. I highly recommend this clinic. My infertility journey began many years ago. I tried many approaches and visited many clinics but never found a plan that truly suited me. Once I found Shady Grove, everything became easier and clearer. Dr. Kahn is highly knowledgeable and truly understands what my body needs. I have been a patient at this clinic for nearly two years, and because of poor communication between the doctor and nurses, we have not even completed one full IVF cycle. Dr. Khan treated me like a number. First, he was over an hour late for our consultation; that should have been the first warning sign. My hormone levels were low, and when I asked how to improve them, he said it was impossible and that this was simply how things were. I completed 6 months of GLP-1 treatment, lost 30 pounds, maintained a high-protein diet, and repeated the labs—my levels reached the minimum threshold! He performed two IUIs, both unsuccessful. He diagnosed endometriosis but told me surgery would not help. I left the Leesburg office and transferred to Dr. Browne at Fair Oaks. At our first meeting, she told me I could not become pregnant with endometriosis and needed surgery immediately. One more thing!!! I received lab results and called the clinic with a question. The nurse said, “I’m sorry, Dr. Khan does not take phone calls. You need an appointment to see him...” I need an appointment just to ask one question? That was all I wanted to know. I strongly advise against this clinic. It was profoundly disappointing.

From the first day of our journey, Dr. Xu, Adrian, and the entire team provided exceptional care. We never felt rushed and always felt like more than just another patient. As we overcame fertility challenges, having such a caring and attentive team was essential to maintaining hope for our future child. Under the team's attentive care, we retrieved a large number of eggs and completed PGT-A testing. Our first frozen embryo transfer was successful, and our ideal son was born in February, just over 10 months after my first egg-retrieval injection. We cannot wait to work with the team again in the near future!

I cannot praise Dr. Hsu and her team at Shady Grove in Woodbridge enough. My husband and I had been unable to conceive on our own, so I did my research. Although another Shady Grove location is closer to my home, I specifically drove 40 minutes to see Dr. Hsu and her team. Everyone was kind, caring, compassionate, and genuinely supportive and wanted to help me become pregnant. Everyone knew my name and sincerely cared about our outcome. We completed two IUI cycles. The first failed, but the second succeeded! I am now 12 weeks pregnant and have no complaints. I do not know another place or team I would trust with such a sensitive issue. I am writing to express my disappointment with the service at Shady Grove. On October 2, my spouse and I consulted Dr. Xu. During the consultation, Dr. Xu advised that because we had an embryo in Puerto Rico, it would be best to have the transfer performed there while receiving pre- and post-procedure care from Shady Grove. Based on that recommendation, I scheduled the transfer with the clinic in Puerto Rico. However, when I later contacted Shady Grove to arrange the related care, I waited an entire week for a response and was then told that the clinic no longer provides pre- and post-procedure care for transfers performed elsewhere. This delay and poor communication caused significant distress and wasted time. If the policy has changed, all physicians must be informed promptly so patients can make informed decisions. A one-week response time for a prospective patient is also unacceptable. Because of this situation, I may have to cancel the planned transfer in Puerto Rico because my husband, a service member, will deploy at the end of December. Given the area's large military community, I am surprised that Shady Grove offers no support for circumstances like ours. I hope you take this feedback seriously and review your communication and service processes to prevent similar problems in the future.

My experience at Shady Grove Fertility was very different from what I expected when beginning fertility treatment. I anticipated a cold, impersonal setting, but was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Xu and her team are knowledgeable and professional, but what impressed me most was their care, empathy, and genuine warmth. This journey is emotionally difficult, and positive support and guidance from professionals were deeply reassuring. Courtney, the clinical team's PCC, accompanied me throughout prescreening. I appreciated her encouragement and prompt responses, which made the process less intimidating. I am still in treatment and hoping for a good outcome, but I am very grateful to have such an excellent team beside me.

I spent more than two years with SGF at the Woodbridge office, they were awesome, a really personable and helpful team the whole way through. Every staff member gave me exceptional support and help. Would recommend to anyone trying to grow and family.

Ms. Courtney has been very kind to me. Whenever I call, she is always happy to answer all my questions. Even when I ask the same question repeatedly, she remains patient and listens carefully to everything I say. The staff at SG are also friendly and respectful. I love it here. I will be starting fertility treatment soon and truly hope everything goes well.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to this team. Nurse Tutu was outstanding during all my ultrasounds. She was gentle, caring, knowledgeable, and reassuring and always took time to make me feel comfortable and cared for. My nurse and phlebotomist Lorena was wonderful. She was highly skilled and so gentle that I could barely feel the needle, which meant a great deal because I am very afraid of needles. She always brought a calm, positive energy that immediately put me at ease. Charise at the front desk was equally excellent. She was always welcoming, friendly, thoughtful, and patient in answering questions. From the moment you enter the clinic, she makes you feel fully cared for. I willingly drive farther to receive care from this team because they are truly exceptional. They gave me tremendous comfort and support throughout treatment at SGF, and I sincerely appreciate every one of them. Their compassion, kindness, and dedication made all the difference. Thank you, ladies! 💕

My experience at SGF Woodbridge has been absolutely wonderful from start to finish. I am so blessed to have worked with Dr. Hsu, Adriane, Tutu, Cherise, and the entire team, who made me feel so welcome while being efficient and caring with my needs. From the moment you walk into the clinic, Cherise greets you with the biggest smile. She remembers every patient’s name and is always so kind and positive, making every visit that much better. Adriane is equally amazing. She is always quick to respond, helpful, and always makes sure my questions and concerns are addressed. Nurse Tutu is also incredible. She always greets every patient with warmth and friendliness and offers comfort when you are feeling nervous. Her compassion and genuine care for her patients make her an outstanding physician. Dr. Hsu is one of the kindest doctors I have ever met. She makes you feel like you are just chatting with a friend. Her medical expertise and bedside manner are exceptional—she is patient, thorough, genuinely cares about her patients, listens carefully, and is always reassuring and supportive. I am thrilled to share that my first embryo transfer was successful, and I am now in my second trimester. I am so grateful to the entire SGF Woodbridge team for helping me achieve this dream. I truly could not have done it without them. I cannot wait to meet my miracle baby and share this joy with the team that helped make my dream come true.
