I just graduated from this clinic after 1 successful embryo transfer on 11/27/24! Working with EFC was a pleasure. They treat you with great respect and care, which I loved. The doctors form a connection with you and remember your face and name, so it never feels transactional. If I decide to take this path again as a surrogate, I will return to this doctor! I cannot praise this place enough.

Words cannot fully express how grateful I am for the opportunity to work with Ember Fertility. IVF is not an easy journey, but everyone here made it one of the most amazing experiences I will ever have. I came to them as a surrogate, and they took excellent care of me. From the warm welcome when I entered to every outstanding staff member, no question ever went unanswered. Laboratory work and medication were all very easy and pleasant. They continually cared for me and ensured that both the baby and I were well. Whether you are using a clinic for your own IVF journey or are a surrogate like me, I recommend Ember Fertility 100% and encourage everyone to try their clinic.

I am extremely grateful to my extended EFC family. Two IVF cycles were challenging, especially because the first produced only one embryo. With the dream of having at least two children and considering my age, we decided to undergo another retrieval. My case manager, Sherrie, was a constant source of support throughout the journey. At my most difficult moments, her encouragement brought comfort and hope. She tirelessly answered all my questions about medications, scheduling, and procedures and always checked with Dr. Fregi and Nurse Wei to ensure I received the clarity I needed. Gen and Wei were also my angels, accommodating my requests and ensuring that I felt reassured at every step. Their kindness and dedication truly touched my heart. I can honestly say that choosing Ember was one of the best decisions I have made. The care and compassion I experienced here far exceeded my previous clinic, and I am extremely grateful to be part of this incredible community.

I did not go to this clinic because the patient coordinator, Sherrie B., was unprofessional and incompetent. First, she spammed my inbox with several separate emails, and the second time we spoke, she confused my name. Worst of all, less than five minutes into our conversation, when I asked about the clinic's experience, she raised her voice and said she did not know the estimated number of frozen cycles performed per year and that they could not provide information to people who only called without booking a consultation. I asked whether she could get this information from someone else before the $299 consultation, and she clearly said no, Dr. Freije would not provide it before a consultation. I told Sherrie that under those circumstances I would go to another clinic, and she abruptly hung up. I am not sure whether Sherrie was just having a bad day or is always like this (more likely the latter, since an early Yelp review is also about her). FWIW, clients need to understand your level of experience before committing, and rudely refusing such basic information frankly suggests either a questionable lab or a need for a better patient coordinator who understands basic communication.

Ember Fertility is absolutely the best clinic in California. The staff are professional, kind, and trustworthy and truly make you feel like family. I completed an embryo transfer and am deeply grateful to Ember and its staff for this life-changing experience that I will never forget. Thank you so much to the doctor and his staff.

A costly mistake! Think twice before choosing Ember Fertility! I do not usually write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about my experience with Ember Fertility. I entered the process full of hope, but it became one of the most frustrating and exhausting experiences of my life. I paid tens of thousands of dollars for IVF treatment, believing I had made the right choice. At first, everything seemed promising—until it was not. None of my embryos survived, and the clinic offered no clear explanation of what went wrong. Whenever I asked for more detail, I received vague answers and felt completely uninformed. The refund process was even worse. Initially, I was told I was eligible, but when I requested formal details explaining how my refund was calculated, I received only excuses and delays. They never provided a formal refund policy or proper documentation, just an arbitrary number with no clear rationale. At this point, I do not even know whether the refund calculation is fair or whether they simply chose an amount and expect me to accept it. If they operate transparently, why not provide simple documentation supporting their position? 🛑 If you are considering Ember Fertility, do your research. Get every financial detail in writing before paying. Do not assume policies will be explained later. Ask them directly about their refund policy. If they hesitate to provide clear terms in advance, that is a red flag. Be prepared to chase them for answers. If something goes wrong, do not expect fast or clear communication. I hope no one experiences what I did. Fertility treatment is difficult enough—uncertainty and financial opacity should not be part of the process.

My wife and I are so thankful for everything the team at Ember fertility has done for us! We are both first-time mothers and chose IVF due to potentially closed fallopian tubes. Going into this journey, we were hoping to find a clinic that would support us being multicultural and a part of the LGBTQ+ community. From the beginning, we felt very supported and uplifted by all of the staff at the clinic. Sherrie was our patient care coordinator and has been absolutely phenomenal to have on our team! She treated us like family and is always available to answer any of our questions or concerns and connect us with our doctor if necessary. Dr. Freije is amazing at what he does. He has always taken time to explain every part of the IVF process, and genetic testing so that we are making the best informed decisions for our family. He is very thorough and provided individualized care specific to me as the patient. It is very important to continuously be empowered to advocate for yourself and never be apprehensive to ask questions. We did have questions regarding the quality and quantity of eggs/embroys after our egg retrieval and unfortunately was never able to meet with the embryologist to address these concerns. Dr. Freije was very reassuring that the quality and quantity of embryos we created would allow us to have the complete family size we communicated we desired. NP Wei was a great point of contact and support throughout the process as well, making sure we were updated with care and medication instructions. Our phlebotomist Gen always got my blood draw on the first try and made it as pain-free as possible! The entire care team at Ember fertility was compassionate, gentle, and patient with us along our journey. We had success on our first embryo transfer and are now expecting our first baby this summer! I recommend Ember fertility to anyone I know seeking support from a knowledgeable medical team, so happy we found them!

My experience working with this clinic as a surrogate was outstanding! Dr. Freije is warm, funny, and has a great bedside manner. He makes you feel comfortable at every step. Linda was my coordinator, and she was wonderful too! She was prompt and informative about the next steps. The medical assistants were on top of everything and very kind! If I decide to do another journey, I would absolutely return to this clinic. I recommend this clinic for any and all IVF needs.

I underwent IVF because of a chromosomal translocation. Although I needed two egg retrievals, I was very satisfied with the positive outcome. After all, success is never 100%. We are very happy to have succeeded twice. My son is now four months old. The entire care team was excellent. A doctor personally examined me every time. Ember Fertility was a wonderful clinic for my partner and me. We decided to have a child in early 2024, and when we began our IVF journey in May, the process was streamlined. She received her first positive test after the first embryo transfer. I am very grateful for the personalized treatment Dr. Freije provided to my wife. His approach made it easy to trust him during treatment. He is optimistic but realistic, and he will not transfer an embryo if he believes your body is not ready. I think that is important because some doctors may simply “wait and see” and waste your time. In addition, every time we entered the office, Sherrie greeted us warmly and spoke with us. She was very welcoming and communicative. She also provided educational resources/papers for us to review so we could learn more. As the partner of someone who underwent successful IVF, I highly recommend Ember Fertility. My only advice is to make sure you ask questions. Do not be afraid to speak up and request more information. As patients, we sometimes forget the power we have over our own bodies. It is important to remind yourself that you have every right to know what is happening with your body/embryos.

I remember when I first began my surrogacy journey, and a few months later I was told to travel to California for some tests. Honestly, I was nervous about flying alone, but excited to see California. My program coordinator, Becky, was wonderful. She welcomed me warmly and answered all my questions in detail. Being alone in another state made me nervous, but they put me at ease. Everyone was kind, and the environment was quiet and clean. The next time I fly back to California, I plan to stay a few extra days. I had an embryo transfer and was so excited. You hear so many stories about failed IVF cycles, and I felt uneasy and worried about my embryo transfer. But I felt that this team knew what they were doing and took everything seriously. After the embryo transfer, I went home. About a week later, my pregnancy was confirmed. I was thrilled that this clinic was part of my first successful IVF pregnancy. I am now six months pregnant. They are the best team of nurses and doctors. I would absolutely recommend this fertility clinic to my friends and family. The trip to California was definitely worthwhile. This was my first time working with this clinic and Dr. Frije. I am a surrogate, and I honestly expected the process to be more complicated or stressful, but they made everything remarkably easy. Dr. Frije is an excellent physician who is respectful and highly professional. He stays involved throughout the process, genuinely cares about his patients, and ensures everything goes smoothly. Best of all, he speaks Spanish fluently. If you are considering any type of IVF treatment, this clinic is an excellent choice. They make everything simple, and the staff are outstanding. Dr. Frije and his nursing team are wonderful. The clinic staff are always courteous, and the doctor is consistently friendly, professional, and reassuring. They provide personalized care, send weekly updates and instructions by email, answer questions at any time, and even provide video guidance for injections. One of my coordinators sent me flowers, which made me feel especially cared for and supported. 10/10

After several failed intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles at a well-known fertility clinic in Newport Beach, I felt discouraged, physically and emotionally exhausted, and financially strained. During those months, I saw the doctor only twice—once for a video consultation and once at my final appointment. The doctor did not suggest IVF until after multiple failed IUI cycles, which made me wish I had received more personalized guidance sooner. Looking for a clinic that was more supportive, transparent, and patient-centered, I began exploring other options.
