I was fortunate to undergo IVF treatment with my daughter at Wilmington Fertility. Every staff member was wonderful, compassionate, and kind. By the end of the process, they felt like family. Their professionalism and attention to detail were outstanding. From check-in and the lab to the doctors, I cannot say enough about their excellent service!

This is simply a money grab. I have never felt so dismissed and belittled as a patient as I did during my initial consultation with Dr. Sessions. I want to emphasize that the receptionists and nurses were very kind, and this review is not a reflection on them. What clinic schedules a financial consultation about treatment costs before the patient has even met the doctor or discussed treatment options? If this is offered, patients should be allowed to decide after the consultation whether to schedule it. I had just paid my $50 copay at check-in when I was told to schedule this waste of time. I came for a consultation because I knew nothing about how endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) might affect my fertility. To Dr. Sessions, both were “irrelevant,” even though every specialist I had consulted previously said they could affect my future fertility, especially after my 30s, since peak fertility is in the 20s. She immediately recommended egg freezing without discussing other options. She spoke in a confusing way that anyone without a medical background would struggle to understand. She told me my PCOS did not matter because my cycles were regular, despite imaging, hospital records, diagnoses, and other documentation supporting my medical history. The rushed and impersonal consultation led me to tell the lab technician, scheduler, or whoever I was hurried to afterward that I was not interested in scheduling lab work because I had been given no time to consider options that were barely presented. I would never recommend this clinic. The experience left me deeply uncomfortable and upset for days. This practice clearly prioritizes money over medicine.

I do not trust them with my future fertility. I have a severe peanut allergy. Dr. Sessions told me that progesterone contains refined peanut oil and that she would need to prescribe a different form to help me become pregnant because she did not want to risk an allergic reaction. A few weeks later, I called the on-call nurse to ask whether I should start progesterone supplementation as soon as possible. She readily prescribed it. I assumed she had reviewed my chart and trusted that it was the correct medication. It was not. The progesterone they prescribed could have killed me. The bottle stated, “Do not use if allergic to peanuts.” Imagine if I had taken it without noticing. For weeks I tried calling the on-call nurse or anyone in the office and left multiple messages, but no one returned my calls. Novant referred me here after two miscarriages, yet I cannot reach them, obtain medication that will not endanger my life, or get answers to basic questions about my cycle. Worse, they billed me about $200 for one consultation even though I had insurance and prepaid a $55 copay. When I called to report the billing error, they said, “You need to resolve it with your insurance because they made the mistake, not us.” I had to call my insurer myself, and they confirmed they had already paid for the appointment and that Wilmington Fertility’s bill was incorrect. I am glad I checked, but frustrated that I had to investigate it myself. I plan to go elsewhere because I do not feel safe with their care and felt ignored through most of my experience.

I was very disappointed with my ultrasound experience. During the scan, the technician made political comments about differences between the South and Maine, where she is from. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and made me very uncomfortable. Politics has no place in a fertility clinic. I will not return.

I love this place—the doctors, consultations, front desk, and all the nurses are wonderful! I began my journey here in 2023–2024, and now my little baby is due in 2025, in month 5. Before starting with them, I had experienced three difficult years of unexplained infertility, and now the journey has finally reached a happy ending. It is all thanks to WFC! Thank you all! Update: Our 3-month-old baby! Thanks to them! Never give up!

I recently had an egg retrieval and received the best care imaginable! I truly love everyone at this clinic 🥰

We absolutely love WFC! Infertility is a painful journey, but this team gave us tremendous support and care. Dr. Session is extremely knowledgeable and always finds a solution. No matter what issue we faced, she believed we could find an answer. Thanks to her, I finally understand why I had been unable to conceive for so long. She connected me with a better OB-GYN after I had been misdiagnosed. She never saw my infertility as an obstacle, but as part of the path to pregnancy. She is very honest, which my husband and I both appreciate. We needed someone who would tell us everything clearly instead of being vague. Nurse Madison was also amazing and never made me feel like a bother, even with my countless questions. Jessica, Melissa, Savannah—the entire team is outstanding. I have seen many reviews complain about the cost, but fertility treatment is expensive everywhere... Nathan on the financial team was very helpful! If you are struggling to conceive, come here. You will not regret it ❤️

Words cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Donna Sessions and the entire Wilmington Fertility Center team. Dr. Sessions is knowledgeable, dedicated, and thorough. From the beginning, I knew I was receiving the best care. She patiently explained everything, making an overwhelming treatment process feel manageable and hopeful. What truly sets this clinic apart is its staff—the people you interact with every day are incredible. Savannah played a vital role throughout my treatment. She made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for at every step. Madison was equally outstanding and responded almost immediately whenever I contacted her, which is essential during the emotional ups and downs of IVF. The entire team made this difficult, emotional experience much easier. I am deeply grateful for their care, compassion, and professionalism. I would recommend Wilmington Fertility Center and Dr. Sessions without hesitation to anyone beginning a fertility journey.

I highly recommend this clinic. Dr. Session is very knowledgeable and will not rush into treatment without fully understanding your specific diagnosis. At every visit, Madison and Savannah made us feel like family, and Jessica always greeted us with a smile. Thanks to this excellent team, we welcomed our little angel through IVF in 2026/4. We were very fortunate to have such a wonderful team with us throughout the process.

I should have listened to those who warned me. Do not go to this clinic. They do not care about patients’ best interests, only their own convenience. I am glad I left before starting an IVF cycle. Do not let them persuade you that they are Wilmington’s only fertility clinic. They are not, and they are certainly not the best.

I wanted to post this review before receiving our results because the outcome will not change my assessment. Everyone we encountered here—the front desk staff, especially those wonderful ladies; the nurses we often spoke with, Madison and Savannah; Dr. Session; and even Nate in insurance and billing, which is always stressful—was excellent. They treated every question seriously, and I asked many. They were always accessible, friendly, supportive, and helpful. Once, they even spent hours speaking with my insurer to approve more medication so treatment could proceed on schedule. I especially appreciated being connected with the financial team immediately after consultation so we could plan our insurance strategy, identify exclusions, and prepare without being surprised by every explanation of benefits. We live in Wilmington, and it was wonderful to find the right team nearby instead of traveling to Raleigh. But if they moved to Raleigh, I would gladly drive there to work with them. We do not have results yet, but that will not affect my review because they truly are excellent.

There is no communication or understanding of the financial burden created by their policies. I think I will take our business elsewhere, but I will let my wife make the final decision.

I would not recommend this clinic to others seeking fertility treatment. There are other clinics in Wilmington that will take the time to guide you through the entire treatment process.

I felt isolated and unsupported at this facility. They seemed focused on selling me various expensive treatments without offering any guidance. At every visit, they overwhelmed me with large amounts of information from different ‘studies.’ I had almost no opportunity to ask questions because I felt judged if I was unfamiliar with the research. Go elsewhere.

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with our experience at Wilmington Fertility Center. IVF is already an emotionally intense and vulnerable process because it is not the path to parenthood we initially chose, but a last resort born of necessity. We expected empathy, professional guidance, understanding, and support. Instead, when we asked entirely reasonable questions about the treatments they strongly promoted, we were consistently met with coldness and hostility. The staff offered virtually no explanation or rationale for why certain treatments were necessary, even when they clearly repeated things we had already tried. IVF is expensive, and we were prepared for the cost. During the initial ‘diagnostic phase’ alone, we spent thousands of dollars on tests, treatments, and consultations as we prepared for this hopeful journey. We assumed that because this was a self-pay medical transaction, they would show some compassion and professionalism; in many respects, it is also a business. Yet despite the enormous emotional and financial cost of treatment—and the substantial compensation the clinic receives for providing it—we received no compassion, support, or basic respect from this clinic when we were exhausted, vulnerable, and hopeful. I am an attorney, and I often work with similarly vulnerable clients while guiding them through difficult legal matters. My field is also self-pay, so attorneys must treat clients with dignity and respect during hardship. Our professional standards require attorneys to respond to clients, educate and guide them, and ensure informed consent through sincere, ongoing dialogue. This helps clients understand their options, weigh the benefits and risks, and actively participate in key decisions about their cases. Unfortunately, Wilmington Fertility Center does not appear to follow comparable standards in its medical practice. Communication was poor. Uploaded information and messages went unanswered, and they made no real effort to guide us through what is often a last-chance attempt to have a child. We ultimately decided to leave and seek care elsewhere. I strongly urge anyone considering Wilmington Fertility Center to pay close attention to how they treat you emotionally—not only to their recommendations and fees—before deciding to receive care there.
