I would like to share my positive experience with families looking for a fertility clinic. We chose to undergo intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) here for the first time, and it worked on our first attempt! We now have a son who has made our family complete. What impressed us most about Smile IVF was: 👨‍⚕️ Medical expertise: Dr. Mao and his medical team carefully analyzed our case and clearly explained the entire process, helping us feel relaxed and free from pressure. This gave both of us confidence throughout. 👩‍🔬 Technology and laboratory: The laboratory was able to select sperm precisely. We clearly stated that we wanted male embryos, and the laboratory met our request exactly. Seven eggs were retrieved, only 3 developed to day 5, and all were confirmed to be male embryos. The embryo we transferred was a healthy 4BB grade. “No expectations, no disappointment,” yet I was disappointed. For background, my wife and I conceived naturally and have two daughters. I was about 38 and my wife about 32 when we began trying. We consulted the clinic because we wanted a son. The clinic understood and accepted our plan, but the results did not meet our expectations. During the consultation and on the day I provided the semen sample, we emphasized that we wanted as many male sperm as possible. More than 10 eggs were retrieved from my wife, although I do not remember the exact number, and we ultimately had only 9 fertilized eggs. We sent all embryos for testing. Results showed 5 female and 4 male embryos. As I understand it, the clinic could have selected sperm by sex; why did they not do so? Even if not completely accurate, should the chance of a boy not have been much higher? In addition, 7 high-risk embryos were not recommended for transfer, leaving only 1 normal male and 1 normal female embryo suitable for transfer. We both felt something must have gone seriously wrong. My wife was devastated and cried, then spoke with the doctor. The doctor simply confirmed everything was normal without providing documentation. We transferred our only male embryo, but it failed. My wife has cried for two days and is deeply upset. We never imagined this could happen to us. Money means different things to different people; some save for years to afford this. I hope the laboratory staff will be more careful and apply their expertise more effectively. The doctor was polite, articulate, mature, and listened carefully to our family's questions. Some staff were lovely, polite, and friendly. The clinic was also clean. ***This private clinic is very skilled at online marketing, which is how I found it. However, the treatment and service did not meet my expectations at all. This experience was a very expensive lesson.
