Dr. Lannon is wonderful. However, the rest of the team and their communication are terrible. Some staff members are very kind, but most are not. You would expect everyone working in such a sensitive and vulnerable area of healthcare to be mindful of their tone, delivery, and overall communication, but they are not. Even their automated phone recording sounds as though it is complaining that you called. In addition, it is almost impossible to get a return call, and they essentially refuse to communicate by any method other than their email system. Incidentally, you receive no message notifications. Even if notifications are enabled in the app settings, banners and other alerts do not arrive because of how the app is configured. You must repeatedly log in and check your account.

I had a very disappointing experience with Boston IVF in Portland, Maine. Communication and follow-through were consistently poor throughout my time with them. It often took a long time to get any response, and I frequently had to follow up multiple times just to get basic information. One of the most frustrating issues was their referral process. I was told they had referred me to MaineHealth, but MaineHealth never received any information. I personally contacted MaineHealth three separate times, and each time they confirmed that no referral had been sent. After each of those calls, I reached out to Boston IVF again, and they repeatedly assured me they would send the referral—but it never happened. Despite having a large staff, the level of service I received did not reflect that. The administrative coordination and communication were especially lacking. While they were efficient when it came to billing and charging insurance, patient care and follow-up did not meet expectations. After waiting for six months with little progress, the experience has been a major disappointment. Overall, I would rate their service as mediocre and would encourage others to carefully consider their options.

This clinic made an already heartbreaking fertility journey even harder. Communication with the nursing staff was deeply frustrating. Replies were either delayed or never came, while I anxiously waited for answers. After five failed transfers, I was repeatedly told that other doctors would review my case. This never happened. I felt dismissed rather than genuinely cared for. Worse, before my fifth transfer, a nurse escorting me back to the recovery room asked whether I was excited about my first transfer, reinforcing the impression that they neither knew nor cared about my medical history. The final straw was trying to leave. I submitted two formal transfer requests and called repeatedly to have my records sent to another clinic, but they still ignored me. This delayed my treatment and added more strain to an already overwhelming situation. Fertility treatment is deeply personal, and patients deserve better.

She was so kind, warm, informative, positive and pleasant! I was really impressed with how well she explained the process and what will be happening next and answering all of my questions thoroughly!

It took enormous effort to schedule a consultation—nearly eight months. Their phone service was terrible, and every representative gave a different answer. I had to resend my records and referral four or five times. I finally drove 45 minutes to the appointment, only for the doctor to tell me they could do nothing. I understand that everyone needs to earn money, but they could have told me by video or phone. No one wants to learn in an unfamiliar exam room that they cannot have children. The doctor was kind, but the entire process was deeply disappointing from beginning to end.

Where do I begin? I had a fallopian tube removed because of an ectopic pregnancy, so I needed IVF to conceive my second child. I chose this practice and absolutely love my team ❤️🥰. Many thanks to Dr. Lannon and her team. I had one egg retrieval and one frozen embryo transfer. I am now 14 weeks pregnant and, thanks to them, expecting my second baby, a boy. If we want another child in a few years, I would gladly choose them again. My entire experience went very smoothly.

Dr. Lannon is the best, but his care team communicates very poorly. No one answers the phone, so I always have to leave a message. They may call back within two days. When we email, they usually respond three or four days later, or not at all. We have been trying to transfer our last egg, but they repeatedly denied receiving emails with the relevant documents, even though we have proof that they transferred the egg. I had my husband handle the paperwork because completing forms causes me anxiety and stress. However, they repeatedly refused to listen to him or accept his requests. We still have not received the embryo, and I worry that they either lost it or want to keep it longer so we have to pay more storage fees. Do not work with them.

I would give zero stars if I could. The nursing team is a disgrace. I thought endless hormone injections, miscarriages, financial strain, and multiple IVF cycles would be the most stressful parts. I was wrong. Dealing with the nursing staff was the most stressful part. In response to the owner's note: Boston IVF began in 2008. If you are still working toward the goal of quality patient care, you should be embarrassed.

Dr. Lannon and the Portland nursing staff were wonderful! They made us comfortable, and we learned so much in one visit. My only complaint concerns the financial and insurance staff. I told them several times that I work in customer service and must be on calls all day, and asked to schedule a specific date and time to discuss insurance. They never tried to help schedule a call and never replied to my emails about availability. Given the emotional and time-sensitive nature of this process, more flexible and accommodating financial staff would have earned them 5 stars.
