Andrea Reh, M.D., FACOG, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and REI. She graduated with honors from Cornell University with a B.A. in biology, then earned her medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Reh completed her OB/GYN internship and residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

During residency, she served as administrative chief resident and was named an Outstanding Resident in Gynecologic Endoscopy by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She completed her REI fellowship at NYU Fertility Center, returned to Washington, D.C. to practice in 2010, and joined Shady Grove Fertility in 2015.

Dr. Reh has published and presented nationally on fertility preservation, IVF stimulation protocols, donor eggs, thyroid autoimmunity, blastocyst transfer, and chromosomal aneuploidy. She received the Berlex Foundation Faculty Development Research Award and an ASRM CREST scholarship. She has served as an expert panelist for Inova Life with Cancer®, a cancer survivorship support group, and as a speaker on WIAD FM's Community Focus and Curetalks.com. She has also appeared on WJLA's Good Morning Washington and Fox 5 DC's Good Day.

Dr. Reh teaches medical students as an adjunct associate professor at Georgetown University and associate professor at the University of Virginia, and teaches OB/GYN residents at Inova Fairfax. She was named a Top Doctor by Washingtonian (2019–2021), Northern Virginia Magazine (2020), and Arlington Magazine (2021).

Update: It has now been more than a year. Since then, they migrated their billing system, at least for egg storage, and I have experienced registration, payment, and customer-service problems. I therefore stand by my review. Overall, I would not recommend Shady Grove Fertility to anyone seeking these services and would advise choosing another fertility provider. If you must use Shady Grove, I strongly advise against the Arlington clinic. The process and my interactions with Shady Grove Fertility’s Arlington clinic began well. I expected egg freezing to be smooth, professional, and standard, but those hopes quickly disappeared. Problems included their failure to order all necessary tests at once, requiring repeated testing and wasted visit fees; a disorganized process that forced me to request information urgently at the last minute; a treatment schedule inconsistent with what I was told during update calls; major appointment delays caused by overbooking and overcommitting; having to visit multiple clinics, with physicians providing different next-step plans; being instructed to take medication I did not have, creating confusion; and staff unwilling to help when timing problems arose. By the time of my egg retrieval, I had lost confidence and trust in the process. While signing consent forms, I was uncomfortable with a provision allowing photographs ‘for educational purposes.’ They responded, ‘Oh, that is not really allowed, so you can cross it out. I do not know why it is still there.’ This was deeply concerning from a legal consent perspective. Finally, the most frustrating part was my follow-up call. I asked the physician for more information for the future, and she said she would adjust the current protocol, including a different trigger and a more aggressive medication regimen. Someone with the same initial laboratory results who froze eggs at a leading New York clinic had received high-dose medication and a different trigger from the beginning. I feel I was denied the opportunity to do the process properly the first time.

I had the privilege of completing three rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI) under Dr. Malik’s care at Shady Grove Fertility, and I cannot praise her and her team enough. From the beginning, Dr. Malik showed extraordinary compassion, empathy, and attentiveness. She carefully listened to my concerns and clearly explained every step, making me feel genuinely cared for not only as a patient but as a person. Having a physician who was both highly skilled and emotionally supportive meant everything to me. I formed a strong connection with Dr. Malik and her team, and their kindness and professionalism helped me remain hopeful throughout. I am deeply grateful for everything they did to support and accompany me during such an important period of my life. I had an appointment with Dr. Nair to discuss possible fertility treatment options. From the first visit, she was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. She patiently answered my questions and eased my concerns. Fortunately, my husband and I did not need any of Dr. Nair's services and conceived a few months later! After my test was positive, Dr. Nair and nurse practitioner Olivia were amazing. They gave me tremendous reassurance, support, and guidance, and of course shared in my excitement! My husband and I came to Shady Grove Fertility later in life hoping to have a child, and we were fortunate to meet Dr. Reh. We were very nervous about fertility treatment, but Dr. Reh and her entire team were kind, explained everything clearly, and made us feel at ease. Before we began full treatment, Dr. Reh recommended several tests and vaccinations, and miraculously, we conceived naturally! Everyone on the team genuinely celebrated with us, which meant so much. I am only 15 weeks pregnant, so there is still a long way to go, but I am truly grateful to Dr. Reh for helping us achieve this pregnancy. I cannot thank Shady Grove Fertility and Dr. Reh enough for helping us through our IVF journey and making our dream of becoming parents a reality. As a 39-year-old, I knew the odds were against us, but thanks to their expertise and guidance, we were able to retrieve one genetically viable embryo that resulted in a successful transfer. Shady Grove’s multiple locations made it so convenient to attend all of my monitoring appointments, and their early hours and efficient staff ensured my visits were quick with minimal disruption to my work schedule. Dr. Reh and her nurse team were always in touch, providing updates, reassurance, and guidance throughout the entire process. Dr. Reh also tailored a medication regimen specifically for me to give me the best possible chance at success, and it worked. My pregnancy went smoothly, and I was released from Shady Grove at 8 weeks gestation. A few weeks ago, I delivered a healthy baby boy, and I could not be more grateful. Becoming a mom is the greatest gift of my life, and I owe it to Dr. Reh and the amazing team at Shady Grove. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone going through this journey. Very transactional experience here. Example: The Dr. failed to review our discrete issues before an appointment and when we brought some of them up, her response showed us that she failed to review our file/testing and instead only was regurgitating what is available on the NIH website. Billing is a nightmare: we were over billed (then refunded). Several tests were inputted incorrectly when ordered, just causing more stress during the already stressful process. Look elsewhere

I am a physician, and my wife and I came to Shady Grove Fertility after cancer caused fertility problems. We hoped they would bring some light to an extremely difficult time, but we were shocked by repeated errors, incompetence, and disregard for detail. The worst issue involved Dr. Reh. After our initial meeting, she created an intrauterine insemination (IUI) plan. My rough calculation showed that her planned 3 vials of semen amounted to only about 15% of a normal IUI, making it nearly pointless. We repeatedly requested a follow-up to understand why. Our concern proved justified: when we raised the issue several times, Dr. Reh clearly did not understand why she had created that plan. Without us, the problem might never have been found. Her carelessness would have wasted our time, samples, and money. Rather than apologize or acknowledge the error, she said, "Well, I see many patients every day..." This was appalling and unacceptable. The administrative team made other smaller but equally careless errors. They requested lab results submitted weeks earlier. We sent the intake coordinator Jessica 7 follow-up emails before she responded. She said we needed a form but never sent it. After weeks of follow-up, she replied that it was attached, but it still was not. We escalated the issue to senior managers Leah Valentine and Katie Martino, who acknowledged it but took no action. As of this review, I still have not received the form. We finally left for another clinic. We lost four months of trying to conceive and hundreds of dollars, but hope our experience helps others avoid the same outcome. Family planning requires meticulous care, and this clinic clearly cannot provide it.

The person who answered the phone was unprofessional, and the amount of information required for registration was absurd, from personal details and a Social Security number to the date of marriage (why do they need that?). I understand their concern about clients not paying, but scheduling an appointment should not require such an extensive process or all of our personal information. When we canceled, they were unhappy, kept insisting that we reschedule, and even hung up on me (no thanks). Think carefully before scheduling there. Other locations may provide better service.

My husband and I scheduled a consultation with Shady Grove Fertility and Dr. Reh because we plan to start a family in the near future and wanted to gather information in advance, including learning about health concerns and medical history affecting both of us. Instead of feeling welcomed and supported, however, we felt judged and discouraged. From the beginning, the entire appointment felt dismissive. We felt as though we should not have come so early, even though our goal was simply to obtain important information. Several of our questions were brushed aside or minimized instead of receiving the understanding and clear answers they deserved. The information the clinic provided was confusing and disorganized. We left still unsure about the next steps or what we should consider going forward. Worse, the clinic's overall atmosphere added to the poor experience. The staff were rigid and cold, as though helping patients were an inconvenience rather than part of the clinic's responsibility. Many of our questions received only answers such as 'That is not my responsibility' or 'You need to ask someone else,' without clear guidance about whom to ask or what to do next. Honestly, the front desk staff were the only people we encountered who made us feel comfortable. Fertility care is an extremely sensitive field requiring close attention to patients. Patients should feel supported, respected, and fully informed, especially during an initial consultation. We did not experience any of that here.

Five stars! Dr. Malik and everyone at SGF, including the nurses, front desk staff, and laboratory technicians, gave my husband and me exceptional support throughout IVF. Together they created an encouraging, hopeful environment that sustained us even when we felt hopeless. Although SGF physicians are in high demand, Dr. Malik always made time to speak or meet with me and never made me feel like a burden, even when I repeatedly asked her and the nurses questions. She is the most thoughtful and kind physician I have met, as well as highly skilled. She was open to different ideas and never made me feel there was only one possible path. Shady Grove is like buying a timeshare. They use bait-and-switch tactics and will not disclose the total cost of the entire process. They draw you in with videos, genetic testing, and unnecessary appointments. Only after you have wasted time and money on various tests and spent months being encouraged to continue do they finally tell you that IVF costs 37000 dollars.

Our fertility journey was not easy, but at every step we felt understood, supported, and genuinely cared for. The customer service was unlike anything I have experienced at another medical facility. From the front desk and nurses to Dr. Reh herself, every interaction was warm, kind, and professional. They never made us feel like just another patient; they made us feel like family. My husband and I worked with Dr. Reh upon the beginning of our fertility journey at Shady Grove Fertility. This was our first experience with any fertility clinic, and Shady Grove/Dr. Reh were amazing! During our consultation with Dr. Reh, she was super positive and optimistic that it was not an "if" but a "when" we would get pregnant. She had both my husband and I go through all of the baseline testing/imaging to pinpoint the issue; which she did! We had a plan in place and we were able to successfully get pregnant with our first baby! We delivered him at the end of December and he was perfectly healthy and happy. Deciding to work with Dr. Reh and the team at Shady Grove was easily the best decision my husband and could have made. We have been blessed with our beautiful son, and we can not thank Dr. Reh and the Shady Grove team enough for all of their support in our fertility journey and the beginning stages of our pregnancy.

After beginning our fertility journey at another practice, switching to Shady Grove could not have gone more smoothly. Dr. Reh had an excellent bedside manner and warmly and patiently supported me through all my tearful moments and many questions. My husband and I completed one IVF cycle and now have our baby girl, with two more embryos frozen. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Reh and her SGF team for making this difficult journey go smoothly.

Working with Dr. Reh was wonderful. I transferred from Dominion Fertility after being misdiagnosed and treated like a number. Dr. Reh patiently eased our fears and helped us develop the right treatment plan. She not only calmed us but also gave us great encouragement. Our first transfer failed, but Dr. Reh always called to check on us and gave us hope. With her help, we have just welcomed our second child and could not be more grateful!
