Dr. Daniel Shapiro, United States
Daniel B. Shapiro, MD, joined Reproductive Biology Associates in 1995. A native of Miami, Florida, he graduated with honors and Phi Beta Kappa distinction from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He then attended Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. During this training, Dr. Shapiro first became interested in reproductive medicine through a 1987 research project with RBA.
Dr. Shapiro completed his fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1995. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology/infertility. He belongs to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists.
Since completing his fellowship, he has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers. He is an invited speaker on many reproductive medicine topics and recently served on the faculty of an ASRM postgraduate course. He is recognized nationally and internationally for his work using GnRH antagonists in IVF treatment and has advised other practices on their effective use.
Following advances in egg freezing at the RBA laboratory under Dr. Peter Nagy, Dr. Shapiro led efforts to establish a working clinical model for the RBA Egg Bank. Since the frozen egg bank opened for egg donation in 2007, Dr. Shapiro has served as its clinical manager. He also serves as Medical Director of RBA.
