Dr. Heather Hipp, United States
Program Director Heather Hipp, MD, is an associate professor at Emory University School of Medicine and program director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship. An Atlanta native, she graduated from Duke University with dual degrees in biology and English. She then spent two years as an IRTA at the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, Maryland, studying genetic associations with addiction disorders and chronic pain. After this basic science research, she was admitted to Emory University for her medical degree and graduated with honors. She remained at Emory for her obstetrics and gynecology residency, serving as administrative chief resident in her final year, and completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
She is actively involved in the clinical care of patients at Emory Reproductive Center and established the reproductive endocrinology clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she works weekly. She currently serves as the subspecialty residency educator for Emory's obstetrics and gynecology residents, oversees their REI rotation, and sits on the residency Clinical Competency and Program Evaluation Committees.
Dr. Hipp has received several clinical, teaching, and patient satisfaction awards, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society as a resident and the 2022 Emory University School of Medicine Mentoring Award. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She serves on the medical advisory board of Team Maggie for a Cure, an Atlanta nonprofit that supports women seeking fertility preservation before cancer treatment, and chairs the American Society for Reproductive Medicine
Education Committee. Dr. Hipp's previous research focused on women who carry a Fragile X mutation and their risk of primary ovarian insufficiency. She is a member of the National Fragile X Foundation's Scientific and Clinical Advisory Committee. She has also published work on national trends and outcomes in in vitro fertilization (IVF) using data from the CDC's National Assisted Reproductive Technology Surveillance System and SART. Dr. Hipp has presented her work in peer-reviewed journals and at national scientific and clinical meetings, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the International Fragile X Conference.
