Jessica Spencer, MD, is from Los Angeles and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at UCLA. She then completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research at Emory University. Dr. Spencer joined Emory in 2008 and served as division director from 2014 to 2022. In 2021, she was appointed the Anne Winship Bates Leach Professor and Vice Chair for Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics. She also serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Spencer's research interests include reproductive health outcomes in cancer survivors and women exposed to other gonadotoxic therapies used for autoimmune diseases and sickle cell disease. She and her collaborators have also explored the mechanisms of premature ovarian insufficiency in patients with galactosemia and the Fragile X premutation.
She sees patients seeking treatment for infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, and fertility preservation at Emory University Hospital Midtown and Emory Decatur Hospital.
She advocates for improved access to advanced reproductive care, particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community and patients with cancer.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience at Emory Reproductive Center and with Dr. Jennifer Kawwas. From the first appointment, the care and professionalism of the entire team were truly exceptional. The receptionists were always warm and welcoming and made scheduling and communication easy and stress-free. The nurses were compassionate and attentive and went above and beyond to provide support and answer every question throughout the process.
Dr. Kawwas is simply amazing. Her expertise, attention to detail, and personalized approach made me feel confident and cared for throughout my IVF journey. She took the time to explain every step clearly and ensured that I always felt informed and empowered.
Thanks to the incredible Emory team, I am delighted to share that I am now pregnant! For anyone facing fertility challenges, this clinic is a beacon of hope. I do not know why it took me so long to write this review, but Dr. Kawwass and her team are amazing! Everyone we dealt with at ERC—including doctors, nurses, technicians/clinicians, the administrative team, and even billing—was outstanding and responsive. Dr. Kawwass explained everything, was honest, and was ready to help whenever we were ready. Our chances of success on our fertility journey were very low, but after all the ups and downs, we now have a beautiful two-year-old son. IVF is stressful enough, but ERC made it easier to manage. We live more than an hour from Emory, but we are so grateful we went to Dr. Kawwass, her team, and ERC! You truly are the best!!!

I had the most wonderful experience at Emory under Dr. Kawwass's care, helping my husband and me realize the blessing of having two beautiful little girls in our family. Beginning my journey at age 40, going through three IVF cycles, and now having two beautiful children is truly a miracle. Dr. Kawwass is very caring, knowledgeable, and easy to speak with. She gave us realistic expectations and far exceeded them. Dr. Kawwass genuinely cares about her patients, and I cannot express my gratitude. Overall, my experience at Emory Reproductive Center was excellent. All the nurses, assistants, doctors, and even receptionists were pleasant, always positive, and seemed happy to help. If you are considering IVF or have any reproductive concerns, I highly recommend Emory Reproductive Center.

I want to share my experience at Emory Reproductive Center and especially express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Heather Hipp.
At 37, I underwent an egg retrieval at Emory and chose to freeze my eggs. Several years later, at 42, my husband and I decided to start a family. I met Dr. Hipp in December 2023 and began fertility treatment under her guidance.
Over the following months, I completed three thaw cycles and one egg retrieval. Through these efforts, we were fortunate to create two euploid embryos.
The process was long and emotionally challenging, but thanks to Dr. Hipp's expertise and support, I became pregnant after my first embryo transfer in October 2024. My final appointment with Dr. Hipp was in December 2024. It was an emotional moment filled with happy tears and a heartfelt hug. Saying goodbye was difficult, and I will always be grateful for her attentive care throughout.
I feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Hipp and her team. I sincerely believe I would not have my son today without her guidance, dedication, and attention to detail. She ensured everything was ready before transfer, including a carefully performed mock transfer. Her flexibility was also invaluable. When my husband was traveling for work, she arranged telehealth appointments so we could both participate.
The entire Emory Fertility Clinic team was exceptional. I especially want to thank ultrasound technicians Safira and Jonelle and nurses Suhaila and Kate, who were always responsive, supportive, and very kind.
Dr. Hipp truly cares about her patients. I always felt seen, heard, and supported.
I never felt like just a number. Her empathy, professionalism, and expertise made an enormous difference during a process that is often physically and emotionally stressful.
Infertility is an extremely difficult journey, but a skilled and compassionate physician can make all the difference. I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Hipp and the Emory Fertility Clinic team for their life-changing care. Their work profoundly affects many lives.

As a physician married to a surgeon, I have immense respect for everything in medicine—but what Dr. Kwass does is especially extraordinary. Helping people become parents is one of life's greatest gifts, and she does it with unmatched compassion, confidence, and care.
I firmly believe God chooses special people to help others fulfill such a noble purpose, and Dr. Kwass is one of them.
I arrived at the REI clinic at Emory Midtown filled with doubt and uncertainty. Dr. Kwass welcomed me warmly. Her extensive experience and smile immediately put me at ease. Even through difficult moments such as a failed transfer, she remained beside me—attentive, kind, and deeply human. Her entire team provided impeccable patient care from beginning to end.

Words cannot express my wonderful experience at Emory Reproductive Center. Dr. Jennifer Kawwass and her team froze my eggs when I was 35, and now, at 41, I am pregnant with my first child through IVF!
First, they are extremely knowledgeable. They truly are among the very best in their field in terms of credentials, experience, and team quality. You feel you are receiving the highest level of care. They provide comprehensive information, cover different directions and ideas, and ensure you are fully informed and involved in decision-making.
Beyond the science and expertise, they are also very caring. I could ask questions I thought were silly, and they were patient, responsive, and highly supportive. During my many clinic visits, they greeted me by name, creating a warm and familiar environment—from the receptionists and technicians to the laboratory and Dr. K's team. I was sad when I graduated to obstetric care, although I received excellent guidance and referrals even then.
I have friends locally and elsewhere who attended different clinics. Although every situation is different, I have no doubt that my experience was among the very best. I am extremely grateful to Emory and highly recommend it.

Dr. Lee and her team are wonderful. They always explain everything thoroughly and are all very patient and attentive. My husband and I succeeded on our first IVF cycle, which was a wonderful surprise! My positive review is not based on the success; even if it had failed, the overall experience would still have been excellent. I found Dr. Lee honest, and she addressed all my questions and concerns. Dr. Kawwass and her team are the best! We sought her help after experiencing fertility problems. She and all the nurses were patient and kind and gave us options throughout the process. Her entire team responded positively to our hundreds of questions, and their attention to detail never wavered. I would recommend Dr. Kawwass and her team again and again—not only because I became pregnant, but because her team genuinely cares about and invests in every patient’s treatment.

Unfortunately, because of the inefficiency and, frankly, negligence of the Emory University Hospital system, I never had the opportunity to see a doctor at this clinic.
Patients scheduling appointments can speak only with schedulers, not directly with clinic staff. Furthermore, despite confidently assuring me that my insurance would cover the visit, they did not actually verify my insurance until the day before the appointment.
In my case, I waited several months for an appointment with Dr. Marshidi because I have a chronic condition requiring care from a reproductive endocrinologist. I had previously been assured that my insurance would cover it. The day before the appointment, however, they said it would be classified as fertility treatment and would cost $500 just to see the doctor, even though it was for a chronic condition rather than pregnancy.
I could have scheduled with another specialist during that time. Now I have run out of medication and must wait another 3 to 6 months to see someone else and obtain a new prescription, further harming my health.
Emory's patient navigation system and its appointment scheduling and management processes do not truly put patients first.

Words cannot describe how outstanding Dr. Kavas and her team are—they consistently go above and beyond. From reception to the doctors, every team member showed compassion, hope, patience, and warmth throughout treatment. At every visit, each person makes you feel like their most important patient. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tona and his nurse Laura. They are both highly knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to answer every question I had throughout the process. They also guided me toward the right treatment decisions to improve my chances of a successful pregnancy. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable in this field, but they helped me overcome them and laid the groundwork for our future success. I could not ask for more. Because this is a large clinic, your case can also be reviewed by doctors other than your own, allowing you to benefit from their shared experience.
It is also worth noting that Emory's embryology laboratory maintains exceptionally high standards, which is crucial. It holds the highest level of SART accreditation, and I believe that made a major difference in my case. The clinic and laboratory are open every day, including weekends, so everything runs very efficiently.

Dr. Kawwass is a highly skilled and compassionate doctor. Our infertility journey was long and difficult, but she guided us with empathy and attentive care at every step. We could tell she genuinely cared and always put our best interests first. Thanks to her, we now have a beautiful miracle baby and will always be grateful. Dr. Spencer and Dr. Schirmer also made very positive impressions. The clinic's nurses were kind and responsive, which was especially valuable during an emotional and stressful time. The financial coordinator could sometimes be difficult and frustrating to reach, but after repeated follow-ups, we eventually received a response.

Don't do IVF at Emory Reproductive Center. The clinic is disorganized, unprofessional, and lazy. They won't tell you your test results unless you ask several times (and they keep test results out of the MyChart portal?). The staff often doesn't even do basic tests that are standard practice in most clinics (e.g., tracking LH and AFC during IVF monitoring). The clinic has very dehumanizing policies (e.g., staff won't tell patients their AFC or number of follicles during scans). The staff rushes through embryo transfers, cutting corners and doing a sloppy job during a procedure that is very high-stakes (and expensive). We had a much better experience at a different clinic.

After a long fertility journey, I am incredibly grateful for the attentive care I received from the entire team at Emory Reproductive Center.
After being diagnosed with endometriosis, I came to Emory and ultimately underwent surgery and two rounds of IVF. Throughout the process, Dr. Kawwass and her team provided exceptional care, guidance, and support. Fertility treatment is physically and emotionally challenging, but I always felt that I was receiving professional and compassionate care.
Dr. Kawwass patiently answered my questions, explained the treatment options, and helped me make informed decisions. She never rushed me and always made me feel that my concerns mattered. Her expertise gave me confidence throughout such an uncertain process.

Stay away! I wanted to use them for outside monitoring, but the office staff were incompetent, unprofessional, and badly in need of training. The woman on the phone told me I could go to this location, but it turned out that I could not because this office only sees established patients. She gave me a "hard" fax number that was actually bogus: it only routed documents to this location, and staff at the other offices could not access them; otherwise, they could have scheduled me elsewhere. What a disaster! And my lab work never got done because the woman on the phone failed to tell me that lab appointments require three days' notice. My trip was arranged at short notice, so I did not have three days. I spent the day before my departure calling, waiting, calling again, and waiting again. I assumed scheduling two simple lab tests would not be difficult, so I did not pursue another clinic. It turned out to be nearly impossible. This was the worst experience I have ever had.
