Dr. Jim Toner, United States
Jim Toner, MD, is a nationally recognized infertility specialist who has been in active clinical practice since 1991. He has extensive experience in all areas of reproductive medicine, including IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies. He has also held several leadership positions in the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. Dr. Toner has published more than 200 articles and abstracts and is a sought-after speaker nationwide, with more than 250 presentations.
A Philadelphia native, Dr. Toner graduated from Saint Joseph's College and then earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed clinical training at the Jones Institute in Norfolk, Virginia, where the first IVF baby in the United States was born. He subsequently joined the faculty and worked there for 10 years. During that time, he studied ovarian reserve, endometrial receptivity, and luteal support and trained several current leaders in the field. He then entered private practice in Atlanta and recently returned to academic medicine to teach the next generation of clinicians. Dr. Toner is particularly interested in advancing research to expand access to care by developing simpler, less expensive IVF methods.
Dr. Toner is a devoted husband and father of 4 children and 4 stepchildren. He enjoys gardening, reading historical fiction, and hosting an annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. He currently serves on the boards of Emory University's Aquinas Center, the Jones Foundation, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
