United States Dr. Fiona Esfandiari


Dr. Esfandiari received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and was awarded a full academic scholarship. She spent two summers studying at Oxford University in England and received her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where she was awarded the Martin Luther King Service Award for chairing a community health fair. She completed her residency training at Parkland Hospital where she was elected by her peers and faculty to serve as Chief Resident in her final year. Dr Esfandiari has a passion for service and has traveled to Mexico and Nicaragua to provide care for rural, underprivileged areas.

Dr. Esfandiari believes in taking the time to listen to her patients, addressing all concerns. She believes that communication is the key to building lifelong relationships with her patients, emphasizing care and compassion. She has recently "been on the other side" going through IVF and pregnancy herself and has a whole new perspective and empathy.

After several years of private practice experience in Dallas, she relocated to Austin to raise her family. In her free time she enjoys conversational Spanish, travel and looks forward to exploring the outdoors in Austin with husband, son, daughter and dog.

    I've been coming here since I was 16; I'm now 31. Jaki Lockwood and Dr. Seeker are great. My annual visits are always good—I feel heard and understood and feel that I get ample time with my provider. However, their scheduling and responses to issues between appointments leave a lot to be desired. The staff/nurses who respond through the messaging portal have me seriously considering changing practices, which is unfortunate after so long.

    In the U.S., medical care can sometimes make you feel like just a number, but Dr. Fiona Esfandiari provided a personal touch that truly made a difference. She took the time to explain how we could address my situation and genuinely listened to my concerns. She answered all my questions thoroughly.     Dr. Uribe changed my life. I am 29 and had pelvic floor prolapse for 4.5 years. He was the seventh doctor I saw and the only one who truly gave me hope and a real plan to solve the problem. I had surgery last month, and he was excellent throughout the process.

    I have come here for annual gynecology appointments since 2021 and will remain a patient as long as possible. The office is always very clean and well maintained, and the Keurig machine is a nice touch. Although the gynecologist I saw for my first three years is no longer at the practice, I recently met Jaki Lockwood, who immediately made me comfortable. I am transgender, so finding medical care that feels safe can be difficult. AAOBGYN has consistently made me feel safe over the years. I recommend them to anyone looking for a new gynecologist.

    I have been going to Austin Area Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fertility for nearly 20 years. They delivered all my children, and I love everyone there. Every nurse and provider is knowledgeable, takes time with you, and helps resolve concerns. They are very kind and helpful. I cannot praise them highly enough!

    I have been going to AAOBGYN for over 20 years. I no longer work in Austin, so it is a bit of a drive for me to come in each year. However, I love the relationship I have with Kelly, one of Dr. Seeker's NPs. Parking is not always easy, but they do offer free valet service, which is wonderful! I plan to keep going until Kelly retires or one of us moves away from the area!

    My husband and I were amazed by the care provided by Dr. Seeker and his staff. We lost our first son in infancy and, after receiving many positive recommendations, decided to transfer to Dr. Seeker. Their genuine care and sensitivity to our situation led them to enroll us in a program that supports families who have experienced something similar as we approached our second child's due date. Highly recommended!

    As a new patient, this clinic absolutely did not impress me. Patiently waited for my appointment to have them cancel 24 hours before. Understand that it happens but then they couldn't see me for another 2 weeks. As a healthcare professional myself, please do better to be more accommodating especially when cancelations are on your end. Also not to mention, I'm getting texts about having a $2,242 bill on my account before ever being seen. 0/5 stars.

    I just moved to Austin a month ago and found that my insurance will cover my visits here. After looking at their reviews I had no doubt I wanted to come here. I get seen by Dr. Cowan and let me tell you he’s an amazing doctor! He listens, he cares, and this nurses are the best…so caring and loving!! I’ve had a procedure done a week ago without any issues and my post-op appointment went great also!! 100% recommend this office!!

    I love this clinic and have been a patient here for 25 years. From Dr. Uribe to his physician assistants and nurse practitioners, I have always been treated with respect and care. I was glad to discuss my laboratory results with Natalie through telehealth rather than having to visit the clinic in person.     The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. At every prenatal visit, I could see the baby or hear the heartbeat, which was both reassuring and exciting as a first-time mother. I brought my mother and mother-in-law to an appointment, and the nurses were very kind to all of us. They took extra time to show the excited grandmothers the baby and explain what we were seeing. They left thrilled and also loved meeting Dr. Seeker!

    I have taken time off work twice to see Dr. E. Both times, I waited in the waiting room for more than an hour without ever seeing the doctor, only to be told I would have to wait at least another 40 minutes. Why schedule an appointment in the first place? I waited several months to see her, time I could have used to find a doctor who would actually see me. I would not recommend this clinic. I understand that emergencies happen, so even after waiting nearly two hours, I readily agreed to reschedule. When I arrived today, the nurse told me the situation and my experience would be different. It was not.

    They are amazing! The doctor is amazing! Dr. Rogers was excellent during my appointment. She explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and gave me the help I truly needed.     I recently experienced an ectopic pregnancy and had to have surgery, which was one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. During this time, Dr. Landherr and the team at AAOBGYN were there for me in a way I truly appreciate. Dr. Landherr was knowledgeable and took care of my medical needs during an incredibly overwhelming situation. The staff was kind and supportive, and I felt like I was in good hands throughout everything. I’m very thankful for the care I received during such a scary and emotional experience.

    Dr. Esfandiari worked with me through lengthy fertility treatments and tests and ultimately oversaw my maternal care and delivered my baby. I’ve also seen her for routine exams and really appreciate her bedside manner. Her staff is always very responsive and I love that you can get in contact directly with her through her head nurse. I’m also giving extra points because labs and testing are all able to be done in house. I delivered this baby during the Covid pandemic and cannot thank the whole team, office staff and hospital for their amazing work and dedication to their patients.

    We took my partner for an urgent appointment because she was experiencing severe pain before her period. We waited more than an hour. When we told the doctor she had a family history of endometriosis, she performed an ultrasound, said it showed no endometriosis, and bluntly told us my partner was merely constipated and that the pain was caused by constipation. She sent us home with pain medication and ibuprofen, even though pain medication could worsen constipation if that were truly the problem. We consulted a gastroenterologist, who confirmed the pain was not gastrointestinal. We then saw an OB-GYN specialist who reached a completely different conclusion after an ultrasound. My partner is now being treated for endometriosis and has an MRI scheduled to rule out adenomyosis. Dr. Esfandiari's disregard for my partner's health caused her more than six additional months of pain and distress before we could see other specialists. If you are a person of color with other health conditions and pain related to endometriosis, I recommend avoiding this clinic. Their lack of empathy was evident throughout the visit.

    Unfortunately, I am now looking for a new OB-GYN, preferably a Black doctor. Recently I have not felt valued, and my concerns have not been taken seriously. I do not know whether this is due to too many new patients or something else, but the situation has changed. I am very concerned about possible endometriosis and heavy menstrual bleeding. Doctors usually do not perform a biopsy or other tests; they only do an ultrasound and say everything is normal. I know my body and know something is wrong. I initially liked this clinic, but repeated concerns were ignored. With multiple chronic illnesses, including a blood disorder, I know my body differs from most and may require additional testing or treatment. I will find a proactive OB-GYN who listens. Too many women suffer or die because doctors do not listen. I will no longer advocate for myself only to hear that this is normal or that I am too young for certain care. Normal does not apply to my medical background. When I sense something is wrong, I have always been correct, though doctors often take about a year to recognize it. Previous review: I saw Dr. E for about two years. She was kind and understanding, took every concern seriously, and always developed a treatment plan. Her nurses were also friendly and thoughtful. I lived an hour away but did not mind driving for her care. Especially as a Black woman, Dr. E never made me question or worry about my treatment. I truly appreciated her and her team.

    I am currently 13 weeks pregnant and have only seen Dr. E once so far, but everything has gone very well! Dr. E is kind and patient. When we met, I felt that she listened carefully to my concerns, and I believe she will be a wonderful doctor to guide me through my journey as a first-time mother! I will return to update this review later in my pregnancy :) Update: I have now had my baby, so I felt I should update my review! Dr. E was outstanding during delivery. In short, my epidural failed, so I was in severe pain throughout labor. My body was finally ready to start pushing at about 5:30 a.m., but by then I had gone roughly 36 hours without sleep and was exhausted before I even began. After pushing for an hour and a half, I was ready to give up. Another doctor was helping me that morning because Dr. E was not scheduled to start until 7:30, but I believe Dr. E came in early specifically to help me, arriving at 7:00. The atmosphere became much lighter as soon as she entered the room. She said, “Give me 20 minutes, and we will deliver this baby.” The baby was born at 7:29! Pregnancy is difficult, and childbirth is difficult, but having excellent doctors and nurses to help makes it much easier. Thank you, Dr. E and team!

    Dr. Esfandiari has been my doctor for my recent 6th pregnancy and 4th (and final) c-section. I was new to Austin when I got pregnant with this last baby so I didn't know any local doctors. I was very concerned about finding a good doctor since I was high-risk and going to have a 4th c-section. I felt relieved and in good hands from my first appointment with her. Dr. E and her office and surgical teams took such good care of me throughout my pregnancy and c-section delivery. She's also a fantastic surgeon. Baby was delivered safely and healthy! During the c-section, she addressed some issues that she found from my c-sections with previous doctors (not at AAOBGYN) to make sure that I heal well both internally and externally. I'm only 2 weeks post op and my scar is already so thin and tiny you can barely see it! An outstanding doctor all around.

    Dr. Esfandiari performed my surgery, and I could not be happier. After seeing several doctors, I finally found Dr. E, and I am no longer in pain. She is excellent and compassionate and listens to your concerns.

    The best doctor I have seen in any specialty. She is wonderful, personable, caring, and a good listener. During my third pregnancy, I passed a very large blood clot and thought I was miscarrying, but my other doctor gave me no answers. I switched after reading many excellent reviews, and they were right. I love Dr. E and her nurse. All the women are lovely. This was the first of my deliveries at which my OB-GYN was present. I had never experienced that before and did not know it was uncommon. I absolutely loved it and appreciated my doctor even more. I have also heard good things about the other physicians, gynecologists, and OB-GYNs in the practice. If you have the opportunity to see a doctor from this practice or Dr. E, take it. You will not regret it.

    Wonderful doctor and staff. I highly recommend her. She listened to my concerns, and I appreciate that she answered all my questions. She is one of the best OB-GYNs in Austin. If you are new to the area and looking for a trustworthy doctor, she is the best!
