Dr. Parviz K. Kavoussi — United States

Dr. Parviz Kavoussi grew up in the Austin area and returned to practice here after having completed his residency in urology and a 2-year fellowship in reproductive urology/andrology: male infertility/reproductive medicine/microsurgery (vasectomy reversals/sperm retrievals) at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Kavoussi’s publications have included textbook chapters, as well as peer-reviewed articles in multiple peer reviewed journals and he has taught multiple post-graduate courses at national meetings.

Dr. Kavoussi is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin and an adjunct assistant professor in the department of urology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, and has been selected as an expert to peer review manuscripts for publication in multiple medical journals. I would give this provider 0 stars if I could. Dr. Barsky never personally reviewed any of my tests with me, either in person or by phone. If anyone did, it was always a nurse. This was the least effort I have ever seen from a doctor. Her staff are pleasant, but if you want your own medical records, be prepared to pay $25. If you do not have a fax machine, you will need to get creative with a fax app or collect them in person because they will not upload your documents to the portal for you to access. If you plan to find a quality provider and transfer your care, be prepared to pay this clinic another $25 for your own medical records. 0/10. Do not use this woman or her office.

Dr. Barsky was my fertility doctor and was very kind and compassionate throughout my care. She explained everything thoroughly. We had to cancel the first transfer cycle because my lining did not reach the preferred thickness. She made several changes to my plan, and they worked. We completed the transfer the following month, and my sweet 3AA stuck. I will always be grateful to you, Dr. Barsky. ❤️

I am not sure I can adequately express my gratitude for the patience and thoroughness Dr. Maya Barsky showed throughout my experience. She is truly an incredible professional who deeply cares about the person—and family—sitting before her. The clinic itself and the other doctors are excellent and demonstrate genuine teamwork when needed. After a procedure, I needed to contact the on-call doctor, who was not Dr. Barsky. I never felt that I was bothering the clinic's other doctors. They took time from their personal lives to provide help and support late at night and around holidays. Thank you, Dr. Barsky and Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine, for helping me through this period of my life.

I am surprised to see poor reviews here. My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Austin Fertility and Dr. Barsky. She and her team were very supportive, kind, and thoughtful. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found them.

Great place. They are very professional and kind. We had a wonderful experience. The facilities are well equipped, and every time we visited, we were encouraged to ask questions. The medical team spent plenty of time with us and made sure all our questions and concerns were addressed. They followed up after every visit, and we felt we received individualized care. We got the result we wanted ;)

As soon as they answer, they put you on hold. I could not even get them to take my call. I tried 2 times one day and 2 times another day. On the second day, my first call disconnected while I was on hold. I called back, and I think the woman recognized the number I had called from before and immediately told me to hold.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Lebovic for less than a year, and we would absolutely recommend his clinic to anyone with fertility needs. Dr. Lebovic has been with us through the highs and lows of this journey and has remained kind and caring throughout. His nurse practitioner, Ashlee, is wonderful! She is empathetic and caring and makes you feel seen and heard. The office and providers respond promptly whenever I call or email. Their financial coordinator, Ann, is also a pleasure to work with. She worked with us and our insurer to ensure all authorizations were completed quickly, with no problems in that area, unlike financial/insurance issues we had with another clinic. After being disappointed by two other local fertility clinics, we found one that was thorough, compassionate, and able to address my fertility issues successfully. After one failed IVF cycle, Dr. Lebovic conducted research and proposed a unique plan that ultimately succeeded—we are pregnant!! We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Lebovic, Ashlee, and their team!

As a gestational carrier, keeping stress low is essential. Everyone at Austin Fertility Center was patient and understanding, and my testing was completed quickly. Thank you for making my visit easy and stress-free!

My husband has seen Dr. Kavoussi for nearly two years. He underwent a successful vasectomy reversal, but we still have not conceived. The doctor is kind and knowledgeable, but it is difficult to speak with him for even five minutes. The clinic staff and team did not communicate important information promptly, causing significant delays. The entire process felt self-directed; my husband and I had to determine what to do and when. The clinic is willing to answer questions, but we never expected to face this situation, so how were we supposed to know what to ask? I expected more guidance. We are considering changing clinics because they seem not to care. I understand this is a business, but we are high-paying clients. After multiple poor customer service experiences, we truly feel like dollar signs rather than people dealing with a very difficult issue.

He initially agreed to perform a bilateral epididymectomy and scrotal vasectomy to sterilize me. Later, I proposed paying him a one-time fee of $500 or $1,000 in exchange for his covering all child support if the sterilization ever failed. Statistically, this would have been an excellent deal for the doctor. Two years later, I contacted him and said I would no longer require him to pay child support if the sterilization failed, but he still flatly refused to perform the surgery! He is too afraid to accept an almost nonexistent risk of litigation, even though he would almost certainly win if it occurred. In Texas, doctors are treated very leniently in wrongful pregnancy cases, regardless of how serious the surgical error may be. So what is he afraid of? In my opinion, he comes across as a complete coward and overly dramatic!

Poor customer service, rigid attitudes, and a lack of empathy. I recommend seeking fertility treatment elsewhere.

Several years ago, I received treatment from Total Men's Health (TMH). At first, everything seemed promising, but eventually my bloodwork began falling outside the normal range. Things went off track, and I could feel it. Total Men's Health specializes in TRT, yet their physician assistant said my laboratory results were fine. I was concerned. This is a truthful account of my experience, without exaggeration. Fortunately, I switched to Dr. Kavoussi. He modified the TMH treatment approach, and my latest laboratory panel is now back within range. I have plenty of energy at the gym and feel much better. The physician assistant's approach may have been too aggressive. The levels prescribed for me were risky, and I could feel it, including episodes of a racing heartbeat. I could tell Dr. Kavoussi was not impressed. He was shocked by the laboratory data I showed him. Working with a specialist like Dr. Kavoussi rather than a physician assistant is essential for TRT. Dr. Kavoussi offered other innovative, well-tested options that TMH did not provide. I am also comfortable discussing any related concerns with him.

I had a vasectomy with this doctor in 2019. The pain could not be controlled, and I had to return for another surgery. Look up post-vasectomy pain syndrome; it is not as rare as you might think. More people need to speak up and find other ways to manage parenthood. I am also not certain, but my testosterone levels dropped significantly several years later, although they will never acknowledge a causal link.

I have been coming here for two years. He wastes time and money. I paid a great deal to speak with him for 5 minutes, and nothing was explained clearly. He said I had a blood-related problem and could never have children, but everyone in my family has 4 to 5 children. A very poor doctor. If you want to start a family or need anything else, I would not come here. It is a waste of time and money. God bless everyone reading this; please take my word for it 👍🏻

I cannot say enough about my experience with my surgeon, Dr. Kavoussi, who performed delicate surgery for a severely congested spermatocele. I searched extensively for a surgeon specializing in this unusual procedure, since most doctors seem to focus on more routine men's services such as vasectomy, kidney stones, and bladder conditions. Dr. Kavoussi literally wrote the book on this procedure; an entire section of a major urology text covers it. He is also a wonderful person. He has an excellent manner and sense of humor, and gave me time to ask a long series of questions without ever seeming to rush me or failing to listen and address my concerns. On the day of surgery, he had an excellent staff, most of whom have worked with him for many years. The entire team worked together very well and made me feel completely comfortable with every aspect of the surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone needing urologic surgery. He is confident, extremely knowledgeable in his field, and a true gentleman. Thank you, Doctor, for a job well done. You made my daily life much more comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you as well, Mandy! Larry A.

I am a Coptic Orthodox priest, and last week I accompanied a church member to visit Dr. Parviz Kavoussi for his help. I appreciate doctors who listen carefully to patients, educate them, and clearly care for them like family. Dr. Parviz not only conducts his work with exceptional professionalism but also does all three. May God bless him, and thank God Austin has him.
