After graduating from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1992, Dr. Storment completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the UT Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Storment is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

 

After working at the Fertility Institute of New Orleans for three years, Dr. Storment established his own medical practice in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 2002. In 2014, he expanded Fertility Answers to Baton Rouge. Today, Fertility Answers serves patients from more than two-thirds of Louisiana's 40+ parishes.

 

John Storment, MD, specializes in a full range of advanced fertility treatments, including IVF, ICSI, and egg freezing.

Dr. Storment oversees two advanced IVF laboratories for infertility treatments including in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), blastocyst culture, assisted hatching, and embryo cryopreservation. Dr. Storment is also affiliated with Lafayette Surgicare, located on the Women's & Children's Hospital campus.

 

Dr. Storment was a clinical associate professor at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and taught from 1999 to 2015. He has published numerous articles on infertility, ultrasonography, and the physiology of menopausal hormone replacement. His current research involves the evaluation and treatment of endometriosis and infertility. Dr. Storment remains actively involved in resident education in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and volunteers monthly at the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, providing gynecologic care to the working uninsured. Dr. Storment also speaks Spanish.

 

Dr. Storment is a member of ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists), ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine), SRS (Society of Reproductive Surgeons), Louisiana State Medical Society, Lafayette Parish Medical Society, and AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists).

This was one of the worst and most heartbreaking experiences of my life. More than a year ago, I experienced two pregnancy losses at Fertility Answers, yet no one ever contacted me—not medically, emotionally, or even as a simple courtesy. I was very open about my situation but felt completely ignored and forgotten. They took thousands of dollars and made promises that should have given me hope, but in the end, I was left only with grief and silence. There was no follow-up. No one cared. Not even one phone call to ask whether I was still alive. I came here emotionally vulnerable, trusting that I would meet professionals who truly wanted to help me, but I was wrong. As a Black woman, this experience sadly echoed what generations of us have endured in healthcare. We are often treated as test subjects and afterthoughts, and this felt the same. I felt like a science project: you were simply trying something without truly understanding how to help me, yet you still took my money without hesitation. Infertility is already agonizing, which is why we turn to doctors like you for support, care, and expertise. Instead, I felt like nothing more than a transaction. This is not acceptable. We are not numbers. We are not cases. We are people. Black women deserve better. We deserve to be seen, heard, and treated with the dignity and care every patient deserves.

I highly recommend Allison's acupuncture treatment. She has been treating my persistent pregnancy headaches, and my symptoms have improved significantly. She listens carefully to my concerns and offers excellent, safe advice to use alongside acupuncture. I will continue seeing her throughout my pregnancy and afterward!

Dr. Chappell is wonderful! He listened patiently to all my questions and concerns and addressed each one. However, I do not recommend Allison for acupuncture. Because I am a person of color, she consistently treated me differently from other patients. She deliberately skipped me to see another patient first, after which I decided not to return. Even after I asked her about it and explained that I had been waiting and needed to go to work afterward, she still said she would see the other patient first because that patient needed fewer needles.

During our four-year infertility journey, I often felt as though I was fighting a losing battle. Today, I walked out of Dr. Chappell's office holding an ultrasound image of our miracle baby, yet I felt heavyhearted because I would no longer see the staff at Fertility Answers every week. Dr. Neil Chappell is one of the kindest, most honest, and most compassionate doctors I have ever met. Jen, the ultrasound technologist, is highly skilled, and I wish she could continue performing my ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy. I will never forget the nurses' kindness, expertise, and reassurance through both good and difficult times. Infertility is an incredibly difficult journey, but everyone at Fertility Answers—from the front desk and phlebotomists to every other staff member—took exceptional care of us. I truly hoped to have a good experience at this clinic after seeing so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, I did not. The clinic has some strengths: appointments were available quickly, and customer service was friendly. However, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt at a high-volume fertility clinic. They moved me from room to room, briefly describing diagnostic tests without explaining why they were needed. They were unprepared for my husband’s testing even though I believed it was scheduled. I tried to allow for a communication error, and they eventually fit him in. But when his blood test results returned, the blood type was wrong, clearly indicating a laboratory error. Instead of repeating all tests, they drew only one small vial. I am now unsure whether I trust the results. Then we met Dr. Storment. Without reviewing our complete laboratory results or asking whether we were ready to discuss them, he immediately recommended IVF. He had just told us about our infertility problem. I was shocked, while he rushed through an explanation as if we understood. There was no time to process the information. He essentially told us to be grateful our results were not as bad as those of others. When you have just told someone they cannot conceive naturally, saying ‘it could be worse’ feels dehumanizing. My husband and I are fortunate to have some fertility coverage, and he commented that our employer’s business was doing well. Words matter during a sensitive appointment. I am not a number or a paycheck. I understand that the clinic is a business, but the comment was inappropriate. Patients having better access to fertility treatment should inspire gratitude, not that response. Finally, he said he would send videos about IVF and IUI and have us tell him what we wanted to do. There was no discussion of why the results looked abnormal or whether anything could improve our chances of natural conception. He seemed focused only on IVF. This is not the process I wanted. I expected more compassion, empathy, and communication.
