Dr. Tara Budinetz, United States


Tara Hope Budinetz, D.O., FACOG, earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). During an OB/GYN subspecialty rotation in REI, she knew this was her intended career. She completed residency at Geisinger Medical Center, where she served as executive chief resident, followed by fellowship at the University of Connecticut, where she further developed her passion for teaching.

Dr. Budinetz is dual board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and REI. Her interests include infertility, IVF, fertility preservation, donor eggs, third-party reproduction, recurrent pregnancy loss, endometriosis, PCOS, and reproductive surgery. Her patient advocacy has earned recognition including Mainline Top Doctor and Vitals People's Choice Awards.

Dr. Budinetz serves as REI Section Chief at St. Luke's University Health Network and teaches in its Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship. She belongs to ACOG, the American Medical Association, ASRM, the Philadelphia Area Reproductive Endocrine Society, and SREI. She has contributed to research publications and presentations on numerous topics and has been invited to speak at national conferences.

Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, Dr. Budinetz began seeing patients at SGF's new Allentown, Pennsylvania office in August 2021. She enjoys skiing, soccer, violin, baking, gardening, and time with her four children and firefighter husband.

    I would give them a million stars if I could! After years of unsuccessful treatment at another clinic, I came to Shady Grove for a second opinion from Dr. B. After the first consultation, I knew I had made the right choice. The Shady Grove team never gave up on me and kept working to find answers. Communication was always excellent. I was scheduled to graduate, and I love the Shady Grove team so much!

    My wife Nadia and I had been trying to conceive for a year and a half. From the beginning, we clicked with Dr. Budinetz because of her honesty, her understanding when we needed to cry, and the support she gave us. We dove in with scans, bloodwork, stimulation medication, and more. Yes, it was a little stressful, but we did not mind because we knew what we wanted—our little family. Her team was wonderful, from Mariah's charm to Molly's lively personality, Ashley's honesty, and of course our New York cousin Adam :) The lab technicians were also always friendly and kind! They gave us hope and a reason to keep coming even on days when work and school left us exhausted. Needless to say, we were very nervous about our first FET, but with their continued support, we ultimately succeeded, thanks to Shady Grove's outstanding teamwork, positive energy, and my body recovering when it needed to. We will be forever grateful! They have become part of our extended family. It was truly a pleasure working with them!

    I cannot say enough good things about Dr. B and the entire Shady Grove Bethlehem team. Coping with secondary infertility was one of the hardest periods of my life, and their smiles, patience, attention to detail, and kindness made it much easier.     For the past six months, SGF has been my strongest support system. Before SGF, I had consulted other clinics and had a terrible experience. After hearing many positive reviews, I ultimately chose SGF, and I am now so glad I did. The entire SGF Bethlehem team and Dr. Budinetz are wonderful. The nurses at this clinic are genuinely kind and compassionate. Their touch is like magic! Special thanks to Molly Prince, who was my nurse for most of my fertility journey. She and the two lovely women who took my vital signs at each appointment hold a very special place in my heart.     Dr. B and her entire team at Shady Grove are amazing! We were devastated after being diagnosed with unexplained infertility, but meeting Dr. B restored our hope. The Shady Grove staff did everything possible to support us. No matter how many setbacks we faced, they offered encouragement and positivity. Throughout treatment, the staff answered our questions and stayed in touch. I recommend Shady Grove to anyone dealing with infertility.     After several unpleasant experiences in another network, I switched here. The difference was remarkable. I primarily used the Shady Grove Bethlehem office, where everyone was wonderful. Adam at reception always made me feel welcome on arrival, and the laboratory technicians were consistently kind and made testing easy. Dr. B, Molly, and everyone else—you are all amazing!     I highly recommend Shady Grove to anyone facing fertility problems. It is frightening, but everyone at the Bethlehem office is helpful and kind and supports you throughout. There is a great deal of information, but their process is excellent and explained thoroughly, making you feel heard and able to understand what is happening. Today was my last appointment. Although excited to graduate, I was sad not to keep seeing everyone because being so well cared for is very reassuring. Well done, Shady Grove!

    I struggled with unexplained secondary infertility for over a decade. After four IUI cycles at another clinic, I found Dr. B and am very grateful I did. From our first consultation, she was optimistic and positive. I knew she would do everything possible to make my dream of a second child come true. After joining her clinic, we decided to proceed directly to IVF and chose the shared-risk program. The process was long, but her team made it very easy. I consulted in May and began my first cycle in June. My assigned nurse, Stacy, was amazing and patiently answered all my many questions. I cannot praise the SG Bethlehem team enough. The front desk was always welcoming, and Molly, the ultrasound technician, was wonderful. My first frozen embryo transfer succeeded, and I graduated at 8 weeks pregnant. I will always be grateful to Dr. B and her team. My due date is in April. If you are on this journey and seeking the right doctor, choose her. She is heaven-sent.

    Dr. B is an excellent physician who genuinely cares about me and my family. She went above and beyond in caring for us and made me feel supported throughout this emotional family-building journey. However, the clinic’s policy prohibiting siblings from attending appointments is a major barrier for families experiencing secondary infertility. Because appointments often require same-day bloodwork or ultrasound, we had to delay care for several months because we could not arrange round-the-clock childcare and the clinic would not allow my 7-year-old to accompany me to appointments such as a routine 5-minute blood draw. This policy made families like ours feel discriminated against and made an already stressful journey even harder. Overall, we ultimately had a very good experience at the clinic and welcomed our miracle baby this spring. I am deeply grateful for the care Dr. B and her team provided. I hope Shady Grove will continue to find ways to support all families experiencing different forms of infertility.

    Dr. Budinetz and her team exceeded our expectations throughout our first pregnancy. We are also an LGBTQ couple, and Shady Grove’s expertise was invaluable. Dr. B feels like a close friend, and we could not have found a better fertility specialist.     The infertility journey is difficult and sometimes confusing. Two things were always with me: my wonderfully supportive husband and the entire team at Shady Grove Bethlehem. I sincerely thank them for the help, patience, and care they gave us. Whenever we had a question or concern, nurse Stacey, financial coordinator Angel, and our physician Dr. B responded promptly. Every time we entered the clinic, Adam greeted us with a smile and asked how we were doing. My physician assistant, Molly, performed my examinations and was always kind and willing to explain things. The other staff members we had the pleasure of meeting were the same. If you are looking for a fertility clinic, I highly recommend Shady Grove Bethlehem for personalized, compassionate care.

    From our first meeting with Dr. B to our final appointment with Molly, we felt warmly and thoughtfully cared for. The fertility process can be frightening, but with the help of Molly, Stacy, Dr. B, and the entire Shady Grove staff, we felt supported, prepared, and heard at every step.     Shady Grove Fertility in Bethlehem, PA is an amazing place. The level of care that one receives here is some of the best I found. Starting with the receptionist Adam who always greeted us with a smile to Stacy, an amazing nurse who always quickly got back to us to answer our questions, to Angel our financial coordinator and finally Dr. Budinetz herself. Having gone through this process it can be long, scary, and overwhelming under the best of circumstances. We were lucky to have our gynecologist recommend this facility to us. I do not know enough kind words to describe the people that work here. I would encourage anyone looking for any type of fertility support to check out Shady Grove Fertility. I would recommend them to friends, family, and anyone who would listen.

    Everything I share here comes from my real experience 😊 I went through 6 IVF cycles in total, including 4 at RMA in New Jersey and others at leading clinics abroad. We usually ended up with only one embryo, which was always disappointing. We were even advised to use donor eggs. We faced severe male-factor infertility, and because of my age, I also had few eggs. Eventually, we decided to stop and live a peaceful life as a couple. About a year later, however, a voice deep inside kept telling me I was meant to be a mother. That was when I found SGF Bethlehem and Dr. Budinetz near my home. Honestly, we had no expectations, but her warmth, support, and approach to our case gave us renewed hope and excitement. She created a personalized treatment plan, and I never felt like an ordinary patient. She was extremely attentive and thoughtful. They were also considerate financially and placed no added pressure on us. My nurse Stacy may truly be the gentlest nurse in the world. The result was that all 3 mature eggs retrieved fertilized and developed successfully to day 5. It still feels unbelievable. Yesterday, Dr. Karen transferred two of them very smoothly and professionally. I am sincerely grateful. This team brought us so close to our dream, and we feel incredibly fortunate.     After multiple failures, the SGF Allentown/Bethlehem team truly changed our lives. My first transfer unfortunately failed, but Dr. B and her team supported us through that difficult time with calm and grace, and their dedication was unmatched. Even at my lowest point, Dr. Budinetz never gave up on us, and we ultimately welcomed our precious daughter! From graduating at 9 weeks pregnant to bringing her back to meet the staff, we will always be grateful to the SGF medical team.     It took me so long to write this review because it is difficult to put into words how grateful I am to Dr. Budinetz, her medical team, and the entire staff at Shady Grove Fertility. My fertility journey began in 2023. After years of trying, two egg retrievals, and four rounds of IVF, I finally welcomed a beautiful baby boy. From the moment I began working with this team, I felt respect, professionalism, sincerity, and hope. I always felt that they put my best interests first. Dr. Budinetz is a patient-centered physician focused on efficiency and outcomes. Fertility treatment is not one-size-fits-all, and sometimes it takes time to understand what your body needs to succeed. As I mentioned, I underwent four embryo transfers before finally succeeding, but each step brought us closer to our goal. We tried new treatments, and my fertility plan was always tailored to my circumstances to maximize the likelihood of success. This was never a pattern of repeating the same approach while expecting a different result.     Everybody was very caring and helpful. After struggling for so long to get pregnant me and My husband had pretty much given up hope. But everyone at Shady Grove gave us a renewed sense of hope which gave us the strength to keep trying, and we are finally able to conceive naturally. There’s nothing you can say that would be bad at all about shady Grove fertility.

    Dr. B is the most caring, compassionate, thorough, and down-to-earth doctor I have ever met. She works miracles and always does so with grace, humor, and care. I followed Dr. B from a previous clinic because I knew there was no one else I wanted beside me through my IVF and endometriosis treatment journey. Her team is also wonderful.     Words cannot describe how incredible Dr. B is. She is very down-to-earth and genuinely cares about every patient. She is never the kind of doctor who makes you feel she has no time for you. She takes time to explain things, answer every question, laugh, cry, hug, and most importantly, love you like family. I truly miss visiting her and her staff every week.     Shady Grove Fertility in Allentown has an amazing team that cares about your needs during such a challenging journey. Dr. Budinetz was always professional, but also deeply invested in my goal of becoming pregnant. I cannot say enough good things about her. She took her time and treated me like a friend, not just a patient. My journey was neither quick nor easy, and when the first few attempts did not work, Dr. Budinetz adjusted the approach to suit my body and help us reach our goal. Even when things became very difficult, Dr. B stayed by my side. She has a way of reassuring me and ensuring that the difficult process goes as smoothly as possible.     Dr. B is absolutely the best! We came to Shady Grove with no experience of the IVF process, and Dr. B was very willing to guide us through every step in detail. We had previously tried other fertility treatments elsewhere without success, so we decided to proceed directly to IVF. After our first IVF transfer failed, she personally called me to discuss the next plan and told us to try again when we were ready. Soon afterward, we tried again, and now, after our second transfer, we have an adorable one-month-old baby. My husband and I will always be grateful to Dr. B and recommend her to everyone!

    Thank you so much!!! Our little miracle would not be here without Dr. Budinetz. In August 2022, she performed my third and final embryo transfer at SGF Chesterbrooke, and we welcomed our wonderful baby boy. She is lively, compassionate, and highly skilled. From the moment we met her until the embryo transfer was complete, she was attentive in every way. I would recommend her to anyone having an embryo transfer there!
