They let my mother die. Nothing was done to save her life. Nothing. If you want your loved one to survive, do not come here. The care was simply terrible. Absolutely terrible.

I am giving two stars only because I delivered my three children here, and those experiences were wonderful. The emergency room is an absolute disaster. No one cares about patients with chronic pain. As one nurse said, they are just "clocking in." They insist people are only seeking drugs, so they refuse appropriate pain management. For the past six days, I have had excruciating abdominal and back pain. Their tests could not identify the cause. After I nearly became hysterical begging for relief, they finally gave me morphine. Because they could not see anything wrong, they believed Tylenol at home was enough to manage my pain.

Run from this place! Switch to a new provider! Find a new medical group!! Negligence. Refusal to provide care. This place is a joke. A covering doctor would not review laboratory reports for someone with dozens of "abnormal" results and absolutely refused to see the patient in the office because her regular doctor was out of the country and she was uncomfortable interpreting basic laboratory results. What a joke and an excellent way to be sued when something goes wrong. They recommend going to the emergency room just to have laboratory reports reviewed. What a scam. With an average 3-star rating, this is what you get: second-rate providers doing as little as possible while trying to make you pay their medical group as much as possible.

Dr. Thiago Gagliano and Dr. Allison Casey saved my life. When I went to two other hospitals in Massachusetts, they thought I was crazy and inventing my symptoms. These two outstanding doctors took my symptoms seriously and performed tests to determine what was happening. I am extremely grateful to both of them.

I went to the emergency room after attempting suicide. I had a good experience until psychiatry became involved. The psychiatric assistant was very condescending and dismissed what I said. I was a 19-year-old girl with severe trauma and ultimately placed in the same McLean unit as mostly male felons aged 30 to 60. My safety was not considered. I could have waited longer for a room at another hospital.

No appointments. I was told to call back in 2 months. Every two months, still no primary-care appointments. They address internal problems by closing new-patient scheduling. Because I cannot obtain a primary-care appointment, I cannot see an available specialist. No one cares. This is their system working as intended.

This score is specifically for the emergency department. Based on the cleanliness and friendliness of staff elsewhere, I would give the hospital top marks. I do not like going to hospitals and go only when I truly need care. Yesterday I felt very unwell. They saw me promptly after I arrived around 9:30 a.m., and I was initially pleased because I thought I would leave within four hours. Instead, I left at nearly 7 p.m.—you can calculate how long that was. After tests or scans, the doctor nearly forgets about you. In the end they found nothing, and the doctor could not explain what was happening. 😔 I left with the same pain and breathing difficulty. This was not the first time; the previous visit took nine hours. I would rather die at home than go to the hospital and wait to die. Terrible!

This hospital is a joke! I have wasted over a month simply trying to call for an appointment. Each time they complete ‘new patient registration’ and then hang up. How many registrations does one patient need for one appointment? How many years must I wait before your lazy staff graciously condescend to make the appointment?

Orthopedics is outstanding. Dr. Lange is not only a talented surgeon, but also a thoughtful person who treats patients more like valued clients, with wisdom, warmth, and respect. The pain management clinic works with you to plan your perioperative care. Throughout every aspect of my care at Brigham and Women's Hospital, from the radiologists and physician assistants to inpatient care, I felt like a welcome guest. 5 stars and praise for Brigham and Women's Hospital. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had the worst experience of my life here. First, I miscarried and was ignored by medical professionals for months! They had me take an HCG test every 5 days, only to say it was still present and that we should wait. I begged for help. Nothing could bring my baby back. After that, Dr. Lee treated me. She may be the worst OB-GYN. Because of her lack of professionalism, care, and attention, I have PTSD and other health-related problems. She forced me to labor for 48 hours even though she knew my baby was too large for the birth canal. She did not care. I asked for a cesarean section several times until I could no longer advocate for myself because she had ignored my preeclampsia for months. It nearly killed me, caused hallucinations, and left me unable to move my fingers because of severe swelling. As a result, I have stretch marks down to the lowest part of my legs. After nurses advocated for us for hours, my husband continued fighting for us. My baby's heart rate and mine began dropping too much. She rushed us into an emergency cesarean section. During surgery, all I remember is her laughing and taking bets on how large the baby would be. The baby was large, just as the technicians had repeatedly told me for months. I had informed Dr. Lee so that labor could be induced or a cesarean planned. My baby—weighing 11 pounds and measuring 23 inches—was born even though I did not have diabetes. After more than a week recovering in the hospital, we were able to go home. I refused to see her during recovery. Later, I could not change providers. When I told her I had mastitis, she dismissed me repeatedly and said I was exaggerating and should go home. I had to tell her I would sue if she came near me, and another doctor was able to help. By then, my abscess was larger than a tennis ball. I struggled to breastfeed my baby. I underwent multiple needle aspirations without results. Afterward, we left the United States, and I began recovering in Chile. I had wonderful doctors who listened to me and treated all the problems she caused. Six years later, my son and I are still discovering health issues connected to that experience. We are fortunate to be alive because I had several risk factors and should not be here. Dr. Lee is the worst medical professional I have ever met. Anyone who wants a respectful birth and to survive should find another OB-GYN. Giving birth alone in the middle of a highway would be safer than being under her care. I hope she loses her medical license because people like her should not be around babies or mothers. During examinations, she kept asking about my first pregnancy. I repeatedly said it was a miscarriage, as documented in my medical history. She even laughed several times and never apologized. We were always at the bottom of her priority list. Even with scheduled appointments, she kept us waiting and sometimes saw us alongside other people, which were the best visits. I hope other mothers do not experience this. I am sorry it took me so long to post a review, but the trauma and pain are real.

My partner is currently hospitalized here. The problems at this hospital are patient communication, surgical delays, and a lack of care from some staff. For example, my partner is older and needs help setting up his Patient Gateway account. He has been asking for help for the past 10 days, but no one, not even the social worker, has helped him. I tried my best but could not set it up for him. In addition, the doctor has placed my partner on a no-food diet about 3 times for a procedure, given him a time for the procedure, and then delayed it for hours while he went hungry. It is shameful to treat an older patient this way. Finally, while my partner is being treated for liver and pancreatic cancer, it has been difficult to obtain information from the doctors about his diagnosis, results, side effects, and quality-of-life concerns.

An IV for migraine relief after 8 hours in the emergency room cost $26,000. I spoke with a doctor for about 5 minutes while on a gurney in the hallway. $26,000, and no one ever mentioned that it would be expensive. Unreal. Does this place only care for billionaires and therefore assume I have $26K on me?

Sarah's hernia department and her team are extremely disorganized. I called a month before my appointment and was assured I would speak with a surgeon. When I arrived, they did not know how to proceed. After I provided information about my condition, I was told I would need to return 5 to 6 times. What a waste of time. Extremely unprofessional!! Do not waste your time!

At around 6:10 a.m. on February 20, 2021, I was on my way to work when a speeding car hit me. My car was totaled, and I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was at an excellent hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, where I received great treatment. I am nearing the end of my recovery from the headaches, dizziness, and forgetfulness that followed. I just want to thank the entire staff who helped me that day. They made me feel so welcome with their kindness and smiles. I have been to other hospitals, but I have never received such great care from the doctors, nurses, CNAs...everyone!!!!

I have PSC and received an email from the PSC registry about an ongoing DILIN study by the Brigham PSC Collaborative and Harvard. The listed criteria were age 18 or older, ALP at least 1.5 times the upper limit of normal, and other inclusion criteria, all of which I met. I went through the interview and research process and released all my medical records. During the interview, I specifically asked whether I needed IBD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, UC, or a similar condition to qualify. I was told I did not. I was then told I qualified for the study and would likely be placed in group 2, with a possible place in group 1 if someone was disqualified. I was excited. Less than two days later, I was told I had been disqualified because I did not have IBD. I pointed out that this was not stated in any study materials or inclusion criteria. I was told that within two days they had changed their minds and now wanted only people with both PSC and IBD. This was an enormous waste of time, exposed sensitive medical records, and was deeply disappointing. Months later, the Brigham PSC Collaborative sent another email seeking more participants for the DILIN study. Again, there was no mention that IBD was required. I emailed to ask and was again told they were only seeking people with PSC and IBD. If they cannot even update the study criteria under inclusion or the description, how can anyone trust that the study will be managed professionally? The people I spoke with, Sophie and another person, then acted as though I were an idiot who could not follow instructions or was unreasonable and ignorant.

We recently had the privilege of visiting Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston to welcome our new granddaughter. The hospital, located on Francis Street, is an impressive, large facility that offers valet parking for a fee to simplify the experience for patients and visitors. The doctors and nurses who cared for our daughter, son-in-law, and their newborn were exceptional, attentive, and compassionate throughout our stay. The hospital campus provides ample amenities to make the wait more comfortable, including a cafeteria, a 24-hour Panera Bread, and a food court a short walk away with additional dining options and a sit-down restaurant.

I was humiliated and blamed. Today, March 13 at 2:00 p.m., following instructions from the NP at CVS Seaport, I went to the TB clinic for an X-ray. The woman at the desk, Emma Stone, said very rudely and loudly, "Where on the form does it say chest X-ray?! I clearly told you on the phone that you must write exactly what you need!" I said, "My TB skin test failed, so the X-ray must be of my chest." She said, "I understand what you are saying, but you do not understand what I am saying! Go tell the NP to write it clearly!" She shouted so the entire room could hear. I then found that the form said, "CXR may be required." Not only did she not know a medical abbreviation while working at a radiology center, but she was also harsh and rude to me as a patient. Her name is Emma Stone. (P.S. I posted this on the BW TB clinic page, but the review disappeared, so I am posting it here.)

Hello. I am waiting here for my niece, who is about to be discharged. I parked in the area marked for pickup and drop-off, and the valet approached and told me I would be ticketed for being there. I am Black, while other white people had also left their cars, and he said nothing to them. I asked whether I could go upstairs to help her with her luggage. They had not moved their cars. Now they want to call security and the police while I am picking up my niece. This has been a terrible experience, and now he is telling all the valet staff to target me simply because I am Black. I was singled out.

Yesterday at BWH, I saw Daniel Kent, P.A., a colorectal specialist under Dr. Ronald Bleday. I had been experiencing severe rectal pain for some time. He is a very kind and gentle man who understands his work and genuinely cares about his patients. More importantly, he makes you feel heard. He prescribed a special medication that gave me some hope. God bless you, Daniel, and thank you again for helping me and for being yourself!

I went to neurology, and things were fine at first. My original neurologist was excellent, but I could not see him this time and wanted to change medications. The nurse practitioner was terrible, late, and the appointment was very poor. The second visit was virtual; she was late again and did not remember me four weeks later. The appointment lasted less than 10 minutes and could have been handled by message. The hospital itself is greedy. If your insurance charges copays based on billing, be prepared to pay two: one for the doctor and another for the facility, including for virtual visits.

In September 2021, my life changed in an unimaginable way. At only 34, I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. As the mother of two daughters, then ages 6 and 7, I was terrified for myself and for them. I could not imagine leaving them or their lives continuing without me. I had no idea how my story would unfold, but thanks to Dr. Patel and his exceptional team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, I am alive and healthy today and able to embrace life more fully than I imagined. Dr. Patel is remarkable. From the beginning, it was clear that he and his team combined outstanding skill with compassion. They treated me not only as a patient but as a person, mother, and daughter whose life and family mattered. Their urgency, care, professionalism, and kindness complemented one another. During the most frightening experience of our lives, every nurse, doctor, and staff member went above and beyond to keep my family and me supported, informed, and reassured. I felt them fighting for me as strongly as I wanted to fight for myself, and I knew I was receiving the best care. Thanks to Dr. Patel and his team, I recovered and returned to work only six weeks later, something I could not have imagined. Since then, I have been promoted, bought a new home, and started a small family farm. Apparently, after a ruptured aneurysm, I decided goats and chickens were the perfect addition to life, and somehow the chaos has brought joy and fulfillment. Most importantly, I am present every day for my daughters. I watch them grow, celebrate milestones, share laughter, dry tears, and read countless bedtime stories—experiences I nearly lost forever. Every day reminds me of the gift I received. Dr. Patel and his team did more than save my life: they gave my daughters their mother back, gave my family a future, and gave me the chance to keep dreaming, creating, and laughing, even among goats and chickens. They combine world-class medicine with genuine humanity, and I have never seen a team so fully devoted to patients. Their compassion and care did more than help me survive; in many ways, they restored meaning to my life. This hospital caused my husband’s death early this morning through what felt like a planned death. They removed his ventilator without notifying me, his healthcare proxy, or obtaining my consent. When I arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday, he was suffering because he was not ready to breathe independently. I repeatedly asked them to restore the ventilator, but they refused. I called 911 and the VA hospital requesting immediate transfer. This hospital falsely claimed the transfer could happen early today but could not be arranged overnight because the office was closed. Based on when I arrived, my husband remained fully conscious and struggled without sedation for 18 hours before his final breath. At midnight, I told them not to let him die because I would transfer him to the VA hospital. On August 11, I asked them to document my reason for requesting transfer on the VA transfer form, but they refused. I still planned to transfer him the next day, August 12, but they falsely claimed that I had declined the VA transfer. They said they could do whatever they wanted without informing me or obtaining consent. They would not wait, even though my husband could at least have gone to the VA with dignity. Since July 4, the hospital had repeatedly pressured my children and me to end his life and became angry whenever I refused. My children could not understand why staff treated us so badly simply because we did not want to end their father’s life. They even controlled the Mychart record with false and fabricated information. They entered a DNR/DNI order without my knowledge or consent. I now understand that continued ventilator support after my husband’s tracheostomy was ongoing treatment, not an escalation. They brazenly removed the ventilator from the room and then claimed bringing it back would constitute escalation. Knowing he could not breathe independently, they allowed him to suffer without sedation for more than 18 hours. Yesterday they secretly and abruptly ordered the ventilator removed and then began their weekend. From 5:00 p.m. onward, they refused to restore it despite my repeated requests. My husband was a veteran, an engineer, and a devoted father of two young children who served this country. They told me they could remove his ventilator and disconnect the tracheostomy tube in his neck because it was their clinical decision and they did not have to inform me. We never gave up hope, especially after his tracheostomy on July 27. We hoped he could return home or go to rehabilitation and wanted more time with him. They removed the ventilator without my consent or notice and refused my requests after I discovered it. On the weekend, when all clinics were closed, the one clinic opened specifically for us immediately closed the patient portal account, allowing records to be erased, altered, or falsified. My husband came only for a nutritional evaluation, but it became a fatal journey. He could walk, talk, eat, and use the bathroom. He was improving in small steps each day, but they would not wait. After his long stay, I believe they ended his life without my consent for financial and insurance reasons.

At first, the hospital restricted my husband’s treatment. They refused transfusions, blood products, X-rays, CT scans, laboratory tests, and vasopressors, and allowed an arm injury to continue bleeding, all under labels such as ‘futile,’ ‘nonrecoverable,’ and ‘no escalation.’ I objected repeatedly and reminded them that, as his healthcare proxy, I had not consented to these decisions. Despite those restrictions, my husband remained alive. He was stronger than expected and lived longer than predicted. When withholding these treatments did not result in his death, they went further and created a new plan to remove his ventilator. That decision is what truly killed my husband. He had a tracheostomy and had repeatedly used the ventilator for respiratory training. With ventilator support, he could have lived longer. Instead of respecting his life, they denied the one support he needed and ended it prematurely. They told me, ‘If he goes back on the ventilator, he will need sedation—but now he is awake and doing much better,’ as though conscious suffering meant improvement. They deliberately allowed my husband to die after 18 hours of gasping and exhaustion. That was not comfort care; it was prolonged torture. I will call them killers and criminals for the rest of my life. I am devastated that they showed no respect for a life or for a devoted father of two young children.

Good luck scheduling any outpatient appointment through this hospital system, even if you are insured through BRIGHAM AND WOMEN'S HEALTH PLAN. If you move, you apparently cannot change doctors anywhere in Massachusetts either. I will not drive more than an hour for care when doctors 15 minutes away are accepting new patients. Fortunately, I am in reasonably good health. Who knows how long I will have to wait for new insurance before finding another hospital in the area that actually permits appointments instead of giving you a phone number where no one helps. Thank you for wasting my time!

My husband had brain surgery on September 4, 2025. The surgeon told him the procedure would be done one way, then decided the next day not to do it properly. They discussed discharging him on Friday, September 5, telling him everything was normal, the surgery had gone well, and he would go home that Friday. On Friday morning, my husband sensed that something was wrong. He kept telling the doctors and nurses throughout the day and into the evening, but they repeatedly told him to calm down and go back to sleep. He was extremely uncomfortable, and no one listened. Friday night, he got up, got dressed, and said he was going to the hospital down the street because he was being ignored. He needed emergency surgery; spinal fluid was dripping from his nose and leaking from his brain. If my husband had not spoken up, he would have left and could have died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital because the doctors and staff ignored him. If you or anyone you know is ignored as a patient, contact the licensing board. Do not let doctors or nurses mistreat you; make sure they are held accountable immediately. My husband called me himself to say he needed emergency surgery. Not one doctor or nurse called to inform me. Bring someone with you whenever you receive medical care.

Yesterday I went to the emergency room for chest pain. I was seen by a student doctor named Sean, who was very professional and cared for everyone in the ER while handling multiple patients with ease. I forgot the nurse’s name, but she was wonderful, and they made a great team. I have been treated at Brigham for many years, and I can say that this was the first time I felt cared for without being judged. I am often ill and have received terrible treatment. Once I was even told I was pretending to be sick, or they assumed I was seeking drugs—completely wrong. A message for Sean: you are amazing. Yesterday, you put many of the doctors in that ER to shame. You will be a wonderful doctor. May God bless you on your journey through life. You are a natural healer, as shown by the way you treat others. I am glad I came there and met you 🙏🏽💕

Dr. Micheal Weaver did an excellent job on my ankle surgery after I was admitted to the emergency room with an open ankle fracture. Although the ER was crowded, everyone took very attentive care of me.

Not recommended. I was hospitalized for a week and received a $3,000 bill, even though I have insurance. I called the billing department to ask whether any financial assistance was available. They said I did not qualify because I did not have state health insurance. When I explained that I work full time and my employer is therefore required to provide health insurance, they said there were no assistance options and hung up. It was an awful experience trying to get help with the bill.

There are many doctors in healthcare, but few genuinely care about your outcome and understand your pain. She is truly an angel, and anyone treated by her will receive the best care. They have had my pathology report for a month. My doctor's office left a voicemail, and I also left a voicemail, but neither my doctor's office nor I can reach them or receive a response. This is outrageous.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I sought care for chest pain and a burning sensation in my lungs when breathing, but they prescribed medication for heartburn!!! I do not recommend this clinic. My pulmonologist diagnosed me with a lung infection.

The gynecology department is a joke and impossible to reach. Their online support system is even worse. They read or view your messages but do not respond until hours later. Messages are ignored, and when you call, they simply transfer you to voicemail.

Place is a joke. Just shut this hospital down. No one knows what they are doing. they sent a cancer patient home with no notes about his medication of anything. Gateway is not updated and the care team just wanted to push him out even though he was have memory issues and we asked for a MRI and more testing. Nurses were useless. Every answer out if their mouth was the don't know. God help anyone sent here if they are dieing.

It's not a hospital, it's more like the White House or a police station. All the staff are rude and arrogant, abusing their positions. Especially the Phyllis Jen Center staff. At Jen center: if you decide to move at any point in your life, it isn't possible to switch your doctor to any other location in Massachusetts Very. Rude and arrogant Its is by far the least professional as well. If you’re looking for the highest level of care , medically and emotionally , you don’t need to look any further. Mass General is the place to be.

When a doctor knows that an operation isn't going to work because someone's heart is to weak, but does it anyway, that's irresponsible and unprofessional. Doctors can't be trusted. It's supposed to be a well known Hospital in Boston. Doctors are good. Nurses need to be a little more attentive to patients. It was hot in the room my wife was in. The air conditioning wasn't working and it was in the 90's outside. My wife was getting sores because she was sweating so much. You would think patient care was much more important. A little more compassion would work. Nursing needs more training. This review is based on experience on floor 11D. If your going to use valet parking here or at children's hospitals, beware, the valets they go through your personal belongings and touch everything in your vehicle. Another thing, there should be hand sanitizer everywhere in this hospital and some departments you have to go looking for it. Down from 3 stars to two stars. We met Dr. Samanez today the 1st of June 2022. He is one of the nicest Doctors we've met. He's Funny, Compassionate, Empathetic, Professional, and a genuinely nice guy. This hospital keeps going down the tube. My wife has heart failure and is very sick and the heart clinic sends her to the Emergency department instead of admitting her themselves. No morals or decency. It's a shame. My wife was admitted on 11/14/22 on the 7th floor for tests and her nurse's name was Jen. No personality whatsoever. Acted as if we were troubling her. This hospital sucks. Nurse managers in the Shapiro building suck. They love to push their power around. I'd rather go to an animal hospital then this dump. Nurses are just as ignorant and rude.

I love this hospital! I live more than 30 minutes away, but I am very willing to drive here for care. The nurses, doctors, and social workers are highly professional. Treatment matters, but their kindness and compassion are equally remarkable. Our city is fortunate to have this hospital and these healthcare professionals. I also want to recognize the hospital restaurant. Honestly, the food and variety are quite good. Other hospitals could learn from it.

Dr. Clinton is outstanding. Although Dr. Lieberman is my primary physician, Dr. Clinton, who performed my cesarean section, also provided exceptional care. Both doctors are excellent and highly skilled. I am very glad I chose this practice and hospital. After a traumatic vaginal delivery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in June 2023, I chose to deliver at Brigham and Women's Hospital in November 2025 in hopes of a different experience. It was the best decision I could have made. The medical staff were professional, competent, and compassionate. My night nurse, Christina, was amazing! Thank you for everything!

These doctors thought it right to do 15 to 17 electro shock therapies would be a great mental health fix and now I have really bad memory loss and other issues. No good.

I am giving two stars because all the clinicians were kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, residents, and attending physicians were lovely. However, their emergency department process is extremely inhumane and makes patients feel like livestock on display. Their waiting areas are tiered—first a public waiting room, then a makeshift waiting area in the hallway. After six hours in various uncomfortable waiting rooms, I finally got onto a stretcher, only to be placed next to the nurses' station. There was no curtain and no privacy, and I had to discuss personal matters in front of everyone in the hallway, at the nurses' station, and walking past. My condition was not a minor ankle sprain or respiratory virus, but something private that should have remained confidential. They may be a top hospital in certain specialties, such as obstetrics, gynecology, and surgery, but their emergency room is the worst I have visited apart from Carney Hospital. I have been to many emergency rooms in the Boston area and several in other states. I will never return here by choice. Carney had blood everywhere, including fresh and old blood in the public restroom. It was disgustingly dirty and has now closed. It is shameful that this supposedly world-renowned hospital has such a terrible emergency room. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Please improve!!! *I was in severe pain and bleeding heavily, and I nearly fainted when trying to use the restroom or get water. I fully understand triage, and no one wants to be the sickest patient, but I should have had somewhere to lie down safely while waiting. Yes, they fully knew that I was dizzy. This also would have prevented the hospital from becoming liable if I fell and was injured.

On September 3, my husband was flown to your facility by medical transport. All the doctors and nurses were wonderful. They saved my husband Malone's life after an aneurysm and stroke. Without you, he would not be here with me today. God bless you, and thank you so much!

I was transferred at least 6 times and told I had to register online before scheduling. I then spent a full hour on the phone just trying to schedule a brain scan. They showed extremely little empathy, and most receptionists seemed not to know what to do. I would give 0 stars if I could. Very disappointed and frustrated.

My husband was scheduled for surgery tomorrow, but they killed him on Saturday morning. They mishandled the insertion of a urinary catheter in the ICU, and he ended up on a ventilator and died a few hours later. They were terrible: for four days they gave him no IV fluids and left him without food. Please do not make the same mistake I did. I regret taking him there, because otherwise he would still be alive. I only wanted him admitted to the ICU so his kidney function could improve enough for surgery, and they would only do that in the ICU. We were together for 48 years, and they took away the rest of my life. I cannot believe it.

Great pre-op experience. Negative 10 for helpfulness once discharged home. I was in excruciating pain, and pages to orthopedics were answered 5.5 hours later. I was told to Go to urgent care. Another page went unanswered for 6 hours, with the MD stating it was the first page he received. I spoke to a patient advocate, who was given a complete fabrication of what actually happened. Stay away.

I had a C-section here in 2016, and it was an extremely traumatic experience. During labor, my baby's heart rate was dropping, but my repeated requests for a C-section were ignored. They even told me, ‘This is not your country,’ which was shocking and disrespectful. They agreed to surgery only when the situation became critical, then suddenly raised the price, leaving us no choice. Years later, during my second C-section, the doctor found serious complications from the first surgery. The baby was delivered quickly, but the doctor had to spend an additional two hours repairing damage caused by the previous suturing. I have now been told that I can never deliver vaginally again. This experience has had lasting physical and emotional effects. For such a highly regarded hospital, this standard of care and treatment was deeply disappointing.

My out-of-state doctor referred me here. Although my primary care doctor and insurance company faxed my insurance information at least twice, the woman handling new patients—Yolanda, as I recall; I tried calling someone else, but she alone handles women's health—initially told me I was registered as a new patient but could not schedule an appointment until the insurance information was faxed. That would have been fine, except I had been working on this since December 2025 and it was now April 2026. She kept telling me it was my responsibility to have the information faxed or mailed and that it simply had not been sent. I offered to email her a copy, but she insisted it had to be faxed or mailed. That was fine, but her attitude was terrible. She repeatedly insisted it could not have happened or that my doctor had not done it, even though the fax was sent while we were scheduling. I had even called beforehand to confirm the correct fax number and read it back over the phone. They were highly unprofessional and also seemed unable to manage their own records. They repeatedly called me about entirely different patients, which I consider very unprofessional—especially patients for whom they left messages saying surgery had to be rescheduled that same day. At this point, I would rather live with endometriosis forever than deal with their unprofessional intake process and rude front desk again.

I recently had surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and my surgeon, Dr. Jones, and her team did an excellent job. Her postoperative care was genuine and attentive. Nurse Robin on 8B 332 was also especially kind to me. I would recommend this hospital without hesitation.

Good luck to everyone. They repeatedly bill incorrectly and never code preventive care claims properly for submission to insurance. Even when errors are pointed out, they refuse to reconsider. I hope the attorney general thoroughly investigates their billing and insurance claims one day. Consumers are trapped in this ever-growing healthcare provider group with no option but to keep paying.

I had a disappointing experience with the customer support staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Some representatives were unhelpful, difficult to reach, and unclear in their communication. My concerns were not addressed promptly, causing unnecessary frustration and stress. I expected greater professionalism and better customer service from a hospital with this reputation. I hope management reviews these issues and works to improve the patient experience.

Here, even when a patient's life is at stake, do not expect the doctor to be on time for an appointment. Boston hospitals are hell; they have no respect for patients' time outside the hospital.

I do not have a primary care physician. My former primary care physician is awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Despite calling different providers for over a year, I still do not have a replacement. A few days ago, I developed a new food allergy and spent an afternoon in the emergency room—not at BWH—because of anaphylaxis. The attending physician suggested that I find an allergist, which was unsurprising given the severity of the reaction. I called 2 different doctors in the BWH Allergy and Immunology Department. BWH will not allow me to schedule an appointment because I do not have a primary care physician. My insurance does not require referrals. At least the attending physician in the emergency room was kind enough to prescribe a set of 2 EpiPens in case of another episode. I suppose I will just keep going to the emergency room.

Very disappointing experience. I completed all the required questionnaires online and even arrived an hour early. I was then told I had to leave to find a library to print and scan additional paperwork. I returned on time for my appointment, yet was still not seen. Patients seeking infertility care are already under tremendous emotional stress. Taking a full day off work only to be turned away over paperwork is unacceptable. This office needs to communicate requirements clearly and show more compassion for its patients.

Every medical professional, especially those in reproductive medicine, should treat patients the way Dr. Ashby does. My situation was extremely difficult physically and emotionally. She listened to me wholeheartedly, which is very rare in any doctor. She even went out of her way to attend tests usually performed by other technicians. She is not only a five-star doctor but a five-star person. I have no doubt that she is leading me in the right direction. I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with fertility problems.
