Dr. STEVEN A. BRODY, United States
Steven A. Brody, MD, PhD, is the medical director of LA IVF–San Diego and one of the country's most sought-after reproductive endocrinologists. Born in Belle Harbor, New York, he earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Brody is the only physician in the United States board-certified in four specialties: internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism, obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Dr. Brody completed certification training in these specialties at Yale New Haven Hospital, the National Institutes of Health, Stanford University School of Medicine, and Baylor College of Medicine, respectively. He used the skills gained at these institutions to treat cancer patients at Yale New Haven Hospital and deliver hundreds of babies at Stanford Medical Center. Dr. Brody received the William Osler Award, named after the father of American medicine.
Dr. Brody has also distinguished himself as an educator, serving for nine years as a clinical assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego. He has served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Public Health Service, director of IVF at Alvarado Hospital, and a board member of the San Diego County Medical Society. These accomplishments reflect Dr. Brody's exceptional versatility as a medical professional and specialist.
Dr. Brody has contributed to numerous professional organizations and helped publish many academic articles. His work has not been limited by geography. While lecturing in Moscow, he performed hands-on surgical demonstrations broadcast live to local physicians. Dr. Brody has also taught and lectured in Peru, Colombia, Ukraine, Russia, and Japan.
Dr. Brody wrote his first textbook, Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy, while at Stanford University School of Medicine. He later coauthored Principles and Practice of Assisted Human Reproduction with Dr. Robert G. Edwards, who received the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the development of in vitro fertilization.
As a supporter of women's health and an advocate for effective healthcare access for all, Dr. Brody has appeared on numerous radio, television, and other programs, sharing his experience as a physician and educator with the broadest possible audience. His proudest achievement, however, is his relationship with his two wonderful children, his son David and daughter Katie.
