After earning a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior from Columbia University, Kristin Van Heertum, MD, earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health in Abington, Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University.
Throughout her training, Kristin Van Heertum, MD, gained extensive knowledge of basic and complex fertility diagnoses and treatments. She also trained in advanced surgical techniques, including advanced hysteroscopy.
She chose reproductive medicine because it allows her to make a positive difference in patients’ lives. “Being a fertility physician allows me to build close, meaningful relationships with my patients. This is life-changing work, and I feel fortunate to help patients build families.”
Our Nashville fertility physician is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Van Heertum is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI).

Kristin Van Heertum, MD, provides patients with current, proven fertility treatments. In addition to expertise in in vitro fertilization (IVF), she has specialized expertise in fertility surgery and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and is passionate about fertility preservation and LGBTQ+ fertility care. “It is rewarding to see how the right care plan can help patients overcome fertility challenges.” Dr. Van Heertum has also authored articles in several peer-reviewed journals and conducted research presented at national meetings.
Outside work, she enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her husband, a local orthopedic trauma surgeon, and their young daughter.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Van Heertum and the entire NFC team. I came to them during one of the hardest times in my life, after a miscarriage and profound grief. Dr. Van Heertum was deeply compassionate and took time to genuinely care for me, even scheduling an additional consultation so I could ask all my questions and feel supported.
Her nurse, Carly, was equally exceptional. She made me feel heard and cared for and has since become a dear friend.
Their outstanding care and expertise allowed me to go through my first healthy pregnancy feeling confident and supported.

I recently underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) at Nashville Fertility Center and highly recommend Dr. Van Heertum and her team! From the moment we entered the clinic, we felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for. From the front desk to the nurses, sonographers, and doctors, the entire team treated us with compassion and professionalism throughout.
Dr. Van Heertum and her nurse, Carly, were extremely knowledgeable and patiently explained every option and step without ever making us feel rushed or overlooked. The staff always responded quickly to our questions, making a complex and emotional journey feel manageable and hopeful.

A family member recently had an egg retrieval at NFC and had an excellent experience. The staff were knowledgeable, warm, and attentive, making her feel comfortable throughout. Communication was smooth, and they did their best to answer all her questions.
Clarksville is not their main clinic, but it was more convenient to travel to, so she chose that location. We initially worried that the quality of service outside the Nashville clinic might be lower, but that was not the case.
Overall, I cannot say enough good things about the NFC staff and highly recommend them to anyone seeking fertility services.

We highly recommend Nashville Fertility Center! We had a wonderful experience and are thrilled to finally be expecting our miracle baby! Dr. Hill, his IVF nurses Jaime and Tina, and the rest of the staff are first-rate. They are very professional and caring, and we were extremely pleased with every appointment. They rank among the top 15 nationwide, and our experience here shows why!
Dr. Hill has been doing this for a long time and continues to study data and new findings to apply to each case. One thing I noticed at my first appointment was that, unlike my experiences at other clinics, he had clearly taken the time to read my chart. He is very honest and will show you the data supporting his recommended plan, but he is willing to work with you and make adjustments if the plan is currently too much for you.
We had tremendous success here, and I am very grateful to NFC. Highly recommended; you will not regret it!

This place is terrible. We met with Dr. George Hill for a consultation. He not only made insulting comments but was needlessly pessimistic. We came to learn about egg retrieval, as we noted on the form, but he went from 0 to 100. He discussed needing lawyers and surrogacy even though that was not relevant to us. He not only gave us false statistics about pregnancy and IVF but wanted my girlfriend and me to undergo unnecessary, expensive testing, adding to our distress. He even wanted our potential surrogate to fly in for testing despite us not wanting children for at least a year. We did not feel heard at all. We left with a $380 bill, seemingly for nothing, and my girlfriend was so overwhelmed that she cried. We may receive other bills because that is how things work, so do not expect otherwise. They did not itemize the invoice, so we honestly do not even know what we paid for. The doctor never considered the cost. My advice is to go anywhere but this place. There are many other options in the area. We regret going here. Save yourself the heartache and money.

If you are undecided, call and make an appointment! My PCP referred me to Dr. Hill in May/June of this year. They worked with us to make our dream come true. He, his nurse Melissa, and the front desk staff are all wonderful! Thank you so much!

My wife's and my insurance covered IUI at 100%, but this company charged us every time we visited. We told them insurance covered all procedures and laboratory work, yet they coded the claims so our insurer would deny them and we had to pay out of pocket. I do not recommend this company. They are more concerned with taking your money, and we had no success. Try another center. Trust me, you will have a better chance by avoiding these so-called trained professionals.

The nurses were very good, but I was not impressed with the doctors. At the second and third visits, it seemed they had not read the notes from the previous visit.
Another facility told us my wife needed fibroid surgery before IVF, something this office never mentioned.
Read reviews of local fertility clinics to see which is considered best; there is a reason.

We were very pleased with our experience at Nashville Fertility Center. We used both the Murfreesboro and Nashville offices, and our experiences at both were exceptional! Supportive, encouraging, warm, and knowledgeable staff made our experience more pleasant. Dr. Weitzman is wonderful. He explained every aspect of our situation and all our options. He is highly knowledgeable and current on research and procedures. His high expectations reassured us during our journey. We will always be grateful to him and his staff!!

A nurse I previously worked with referred me here. The second time, we saw Dr. Abby, which was good. We requested information and pricing for IVF. They kept discussing our Bluecross Blueshield insurance and said they would email the information. That was at the end of March; it is now May, and no one has sent anything or followed up. The woman at the front desk was also very rude and unpleasant. My husband entered behind me without a mask, and she asked where his mask was, while another man of a different color inside was not wearing one and she said nothing to him. I told my husband to come in because that man had no mask. She still made him buy one, and after the other man's wife heard me, she requested a mask for her husband. Then a song came on the radio and I sang along. I suppose she did not like it because she turned the radio down, which made me sing louder! I know I should not have lowered myself to her level, but Karen asked for it.

This clinic refused to schedule a consultation for me unless my husband was present. I previously underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI) at another clinic and wanted to transfer somewhere closer to home. His sperm was frozen, and he had always simply signed a waiver. We have a 1-year-old child and no childcare, so we cannot both attend at the same time, and they refused. They then said it was an FDA legal requirement. I could not find anything on the FDA website or in any other search to support their claim. I do not understand such a blatant lie. I would rather they simply say it is their policy.

While my wife and I were trying to conceive, they tried to bill my insurance thousands of dollars for bloodwork. Then they sent us a $350 bill for routine blood tests. Companies like this are why insurance is so expensive. Do not trust them or give them your insurance card. Shameful!
The doctor was also extremely rude.

The staff here were amazingly pleasant and very informative. I had tried every possible way to get pregnant, and when I came here, by the grace of God, I saw results at every visit. I am so happy. These are the best doctors I have encountered, and I had a wonderful experience at this facility. I came to Nashville for IVF and became pregnant on September 2025. Thank you so much to all the doctors, nurses, and surgeons for taking such good care of me. See me again in the next 2 years for another embryo transfer. I will definitely return. Every appointment required a 4-hour drive, and every trip was worth it. And guess what? I had a beautiful baby girl on May 2026! 🙂 She is my first baby, and this was my first pregnancy. I thank God above and the doctors. I am so happy and overwhelmed to have experienced this journey. Thank you.

Everyone in this office is lovely! Dr. Weitzman is kind and calm; his registered nurse Kari provided tremendous support, a friendly face, and a point of contact throughout this difficult process; sonographer Kristin is thoughtful and kind; and Jocelyn is the best phlebotomist ever! They are a first-rate team that gets results. You cannot find a better place in the city for your fertility needs.

They say, “It takes a village to raise a child,” but for some people, it takes a village simply to have one. We will always be grateful to our amazing village for making this miracle possible. Dr. Vanheertum, her nurse Miranda Palmer, and the entire staff were truly incredible throughout this journey. When we met Dr. VanHeertum, she gave us hope that my husband and I could have a child. She was very thorough in testing and determining the best treatment plan for us. After struggling with infertility for over 3 years, seeing Dr. Vanheertum was the best decision we made. Thanks to her, we welcomed our first child in April 2021. At first, we were completely lost, but Dr. VanHeertum took time to explain every option, answer every question, and truly accompany us through each step. She genuinely cares about her patients and knows what is best for you and your situation. Trust the process. We cannot thank everyone at Nashville Fertility Center enough for making this possible and treating us so well. Words cannot express our gratitude to the NFC IVF team. Dr. VanHeertum and the nurses were always kind, answered every question, and consistently guided us toward pregnancy. I could not have completed this process at any other center and highly recommend this clinic. We said we would return for our second child.
As I sit here rocking my child, all I can do is smile and feel grateful. Dr. VanHeertum did it again!!! We welcomed our second child in November 2024. Dr. Weitzman is incredible. He’s very open and reassuring. From my very first appointment and even after my surgery, he made it a point to answer any and all questions I had. One thing I’ll always remember from this experience - is to make sure you have trust and confidence in your surgeon. He reminded me of this and reassured me that he felt confident about my procedure and the success afterwards. I was nervous about the surgery itself but I had full confidence in him.

The staff were amazing—very kind and welcoming. Dr. Smith was friendly, candid, and knowledgeable. She gave us a great deal of information clearly and concisely. She truly listened to us and did not immediately blame our concerns on weight or health issues. By the end of the consultation, she had developed a plan and began implementing it immediately. For the first time, we felt that we had a direction for the future. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love Dr. Humphreys and her team. Paige and Merrill are also wonderful. I highly recommend them. Dr. Van Heertum and her team are truly exceptional. Her bedside manner is excellent. She is kind, compassionate, and attentive. She sincerely listens to your concerns and responds quickly and thoughtfully. In my case, she identified the problem promptly and provided effective treatment.
Her team is also very responsive through the patient portal and provides lab results promptly. Their level of care and professionalism impressed me throughout treatment.

I am extremely grateful for Dr. Glenn Weitzman's excellent surgical skill! I had a large dermoid cyst on my left ovary for more than a year. Because I do not yet have children and wanted to preserve my fertility, keeping the ovary was essential. I saw more than six doctors, and because the cyst was so large, none was willing to remove it without also removing the ovary. Dr. Weitzman, however, was highly knowledgeable, patiently explained everything, and listened carefully to my concerns. With his expertise, he successfully removed the cyst while preserving my ovary. I am deeply grateful for his care and dedication.

We came to Nashville Fertility Center for help this year. I was excited to finally take the next step after our fertility struggles, but my husband and I were very disappointed with this organization.
If you are 43 or older, do not expect to use your own eggs. Their policy is not to help anyone over 43 who wants to try with her own eggs. Also, apparently do not be over 38, which is their lower age cutoff. Even if your egg quality is declining, they will not help you. Knowing this could save about $500 and unnecessary travel.
Their counselors should clearly tell anyone over 43 that they will not help if she wants to use her own eggs. Unless you are willing to pay an additional $10,000 to $15,000 for donor eggs, do not expect help. Then being 43 to 47 seems acceptable to them. Most women do not want to proceed directly to donor eggs without trying their own first. Taking a nonrefundable $500 fee from desperate older couples seeking help only to reject them is unethical.
A simple phone conversation about their age and weight restrictions would have saved the doctor’s time and spared us $500 and 6 hours of unnecessary travel. Find a more ethical fertility center. I hope this review helps other older couples and spares other women from leaving in tears.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Weitzman and his surgical skill. He performed my laparoscopic myomectomy, removing multiple fibroids of various sizes while carefully preserving my uterus in hopes of supporting future fertility. I had very little pain and no complications. He explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions, making me feel supported at every step. After surgery, he personally called to check on me. I feel fortunate to have him as my doctor and recommend him and NFC to everyone!

I received treatment at NFC for two years. Thanks to them, we welcomed our third child in October 2025. Our son is a blessing to our family and has brought endless joy to our lives; I cannot thank them enough. Everyone at the clinic was kind and considerate, making this difficult journey much easier. Dr. Hill, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Eblen are all wonderful. Nurse Tina is truly a gift from heaven and was born to be an IVF nurse. I would recommend this clinic to anyone seeking fertility treatment in Middle Tennessee.

I will not return to this clinic. After two miscarriages in the first quarter of 2025, my wife and I clearly realized that this is not the place for personalized care. During the first miscarriage, we had to visit the Franklin location, where the head nurse told us that the ultrasound at the Nashville location had not provided information that could have helped us better manage the first miscarriage. We both work in healthcare and know what patient care should look like. This clinic clearly fell short.

IVF is a long and painful process, not only because of the financial cost but also because there are no guarantees. Dr. Humphries and his team were consistently thoughtful and kind. We were not successful every time, but we continued following Dr. Humphries's recommendations, and we now have a lovely baby boy.
I sympathize deeply with anyone going through this process. It is a challenging game of probabilities, and fortunately we succeeded on our second attempt.

Highly recommended! Dr. Smith and NFC helped us have our miracle baby! Our fertility journey brought unexpected challenges, including three early miscarriages and IVF. After our first IVF cycle, we faced more heartbreak when every embryo was found to have genetic abnormalities. Throughout the journey, Dr. Smith remained a steady and compassionate source of support. She listened carefully, patiently explained every detail, and adjusted our treatment plan to our circumstances, ultimately achieving remarkable success. Thanks to her expertise and dedication, our second IVF cycle produced six genetically normal embryos! 2022: During a gynecology follow-up at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), I was told that I might need a hysterectomy because of uterine fibroids. Honestly, I was shocked because I thought there were other options, and I was certain I had told this doctor that I wanted to become pregnant. I spoke with a friend, who recommended her gynecologist at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital. I took her advice and scheduled an appointment. The Ascension gynecologist then strongly recommended that my husband and I see Dr. Weitzman at Nashville Fertility Center. We did. He explained that, given the extent of my uterine fibroids, a successful pregnancy would not be possible, but he was willing to perform a procedure called a myomectomy to remove as many fibroids as possible before considering the next treatment options.
2023: I had the myomectomy. There were no major postoperative complications. We took the necessary time to heal. Afterward, we planned to try to conceive and return for a follow-up within a year.
2024: I broke down crying almost every month when my period came.
My husband and I prayed often. In the fall, it was time for our appointment with Dr. Weitzman. I told him that I had recently taken a pregnancy test that appeared positive, but we both held back our excitement, afraid it was a false positive. He decided to do an ultrasound, and the result was unbelievable! We heard the heartbeat and saw a tiny image on the screen that was ours! I cried tears of joy. I was really pregnant!!!
2025: We welcomed our precious son!
2026: Our son is now one year old!

I am so grateful to Dr. Smith at Nashville Fertility Center for taking care of me! She is kind, intelligent, and thorough. She puts patients first and always makes sure you feel comfortable with your treatment plan. Fertility treatment is such a vulnerable and stressful experience, and being cared for by an excellent doctor like Dr. Smith means so much. I felt completely at ease in her care! I also saw many of the other doctors during my time at Nashville Fertility Center, and they were all wonderful and always made me feel well cared for. Dr. Hill is now retired; he not only transferred my embryo, but also transferred the embryo that became my first daughter, so my family is truly grateful to Nashville Fertility Center!
The nurses, nurse practitioners, phlebotomists, ultrasound technicians, and other staff at Nashville Fertility Center are also outstanding. They genuinely care about your health and encourage you throughout the process. Seeing their familiar, smiling faces at every appointment was so comforting when the visits were so important and nerve-racking. We love NFC and would recommend it to anyone seeking fertility treatment.

Going to Nashville Fertility Center was the best decision of my life. I was afraid to seek treatment for years, but I finally went and met the wonderful team at NFC. Dr. Weitzman was truly my lifesaver. Our first frozen embryo transfer was successful, and now we have a baby boy. I highly recommend NFC, and I will be returning for follow-up care soon.

I came to Nashville for IVF AND GOT PREGNANT 🤰🏽 ON September 2025. Oh my gosh, thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and surgeons for taking such good care of me. See me again in the next 2 years for another embryo transfer—I will definitely be coming back. Every appointment required a 4-hour drive, and every trip was worth it. And guess what? I had a beautiful baby girl on May 2026 🙂. She is my first baby, and this was my first time ever getting pregnant. I thank 🙏🏼 the Lord above and the doctors 😬. I am so happy and overwhelmed to have experienced this journey. Thank you!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Van Heertum and the team at Nashville Fertility Center. From the beginning, Dr. Van Heertum and her team made me feel valued, heard, and supported at every step. Her extensive knowledge and attention to detail gave me great confidence, and it was clear that every decision was made to maximize our chance of success.
We had only one embryo, and through her expertise, care, and personalized approach, she helped us achieve our dream. I trusted her completely and always felt I was receiving the best care. We are so grateful to Dr. Vanheertum for helping us on our journey to parenthood! Before meeting her, we had experienced 3 early miscarriages without answers, followed by 1 more after our first visit. We had nearly lost hope, but testing and insight after the fourth miscarriage finally led to a successful pregnancy. Dr. Vanheertum ensured that I was closely monitored throughout the first trimester. We will definitely return to her for early prenatal care in future pregnancies. We are delighted to finally be parents to our beautiful 5-week-old baby and will always be grateful!

Dr. Van Heertum was wonderful to work with throughout our pregnancy. She always took time to listen to and understand our needs and questions.
