Dr. Martha Noel, United States
Dr. Noel is a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Duke University and a medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and her REI fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Before joining RMA in 2022, she practiced at UCSF for six years.
She finds that working at RMA allows her to practice evidence-based medicine while forming meaningful relationships with patients—two deeply fulfilling aspects of her career. “Scientifically, there is tremendous innovation in reproductive endocrinology. The breakthroughs each year are incredible, and there is still much work ahead. It is intellectually exciting to be part of a field that is advancing so quickly. On a personal level, I value being able to build such strong, lasting relationships with my patients,” she explains.
Dr. Noel understands that infertility can be physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. “Many people do not talk about their fertility struggles, which can be very isolating. Sometimes I am the only person they can truly open up to. As their physician, I fill many roles for people, and that is something I genuinely value.”
Dr. Noel’s mother experienced infertility before conceiving her, and Dr. Noel often considers how different her mother’s journey might have been with today’s treatments. “My mother is also a psychologist, so psychology and infertility both influenced me and shaped how I care for patients. As a fertility physician, my role is to provide both medical care and emotional support.”
In addition to access to leading research, Dr. Noel appreciates RMA’s emphasis on the patient-physician relationship. “I value the ease of communication between physicians and patients. If one of my patients comes in for an ultrasound and I cannot see them personally that day, I can quickly send a message: 'Hi, I reviewed your ultrasound. Everything looks good, and I’ll see you in a few days.' That makes a meaningful difference to people, and it is simple. RMA has an excellent system for doing this,” Dr. Noel explains.
