Dr. Juan Carlos Angelats, United States

Dr. Angelats grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, in Chicago's western suburbs. He graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a biology degree, attended the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine, and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Minnesota in 2002. Dr. Angelats enjoys partnering with patients to provide the best care and takes seriously the trust they place in him to protect their health. His core value is to be direct without dictating care. He believes patients should have the clearest possible understanding and expectations about their health, which requires a conversational approach. His parents were born and raised in Peru, so respect for and understanding of cultural differences are central to his patient care. He also speaks fluent Spanish. Dr. Angelats commonly provides annual gynecologic examinations, prenatal care including delivery, management of abnormal Pap smears, menopause and infertility care, and management and surgery for pelvic pain and endometriosis. He is also a versatile surgeon who performs abdominal, vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic hysterectomy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, endometrial ablation, and LEEP. Outside medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters and watching his children participate in soccer, lacrosse, and figure skating. He enjoys running, cycling, tennis, and many other sports and is a lifelong sports fan. During his training, Dr. Angelats received the Michigan Scholar Award for academic achievement.
