Dr. Paul Shin, United States


Paul R. Shin, M.D., earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with honors and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. Before residency, he completed a one-year general surgery internship at Emory University Hospitals and Clinics in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his urology residency at the University of Virginia, followed by a male infertility fellowship at the Glickman Urological Institute of Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Shin served on the executive board of the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR) from 2011 to 2013 and chaired the program for its 2012 meeting. He served on the strategic planning committee for the 2014 American Society of Andrology meeting. Since 2014, he has served on the Urology Care Foundation’s Reproductive and Sexual Health Committee and is currently an at-large board member of the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology (SMRU). He has also served on the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Continuing Medical Education Committee since 2014. Dr. Shin is board certified in urology and joined the practice in 2015.

    They emphatically claimed that my regular insurance would not cover anything. They insisted on using their insurance arrangement and made me pay more than 1000 dollars out of pocket for the procedure. Later, I received a letter from my insurance company saying it had covered the cost. Shady Grove had actually submitted a claim, so they were paid twice. When I called, they said it was too late to request the money and too late to submit a claim. I had to call my insurance company and have them speak with Shady Grove. After confirming that this was not the case, the insurer said Shady Grove was legally required to submit the claim. Shady Grove is truly unscrupulous.

    I wholeheartedly recommend Shady Grove Fertility in Frederick, Maryland, where the entire team of doctors, nurses, and staff is outstanding. From our first visit in 2023 to our final appointment a few days ago, we were always treated warmly and kindly and felt like valued members of a caring family. My husband and I began treatment there in 2023. Our first IVF cycle succeeded, and we joyfully welcomed our son in winter 2024. Nearly two years later, we are thrilled to expect our second child in May 2026, a testament to the exceptional care we received. Dr. Roth is an outstanding physician who inspires confidence and trust and explains every step clearly and compassionately. Nurse Holly was my nurse and always responded promptly and knowledgeably to my many questions and concerns. My husband and I will always be grateful to Shady Grove Fertility for helping us build our beautiful family. Their dedication, professionalism, and kindness made our dreams come true.     I cannot praise this clinic enough. Every team member is eager to help and takes time to listen. Dr. Bromer helped me become pregnant twice, and I trusted his expertise each time. When I graduated from the clinic, the staff gave me a card signed by everyone with my latest ultrasound photo.     All the team members here are so nice and helpful, but I especially want to thank Andrea because she is truly professional. IVF involves a lot of shots and pokes, and I went through two cycles — the second one was definitely more pleasant thanks to her. I used to have bad experiences with blood draws — bruising and long-lasting pain were normal for me. But ever since she has taken care of me, I realized that blood draws can be painless. I always asked for her by name at check-in, and she helped me with such kindness. I love her so much! She truly brought a smile to my face every time.

    Shady Grove Fertility helped me become a mother, and I will be forever grateful! I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and became pregnant after my third intrauterine insemination (IUI). My daughter was born a week ago; she is perfect and means everything to us. Every staff member we encountered was exceptionally supportive, knowledgeable, and empathetic.     I would give them zero stars if I could because their customer service is appalling. For months, I have been charged for a service that was never provided, and no one answers the phone or responds to email. The front desk staff know nothing. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Calls go unanswered, messages are not returned, and portal emails receive no response. When you finally reach a person, they have no idea what you are talking about.

    I cannot say enough good things about Shady Grove in Frederick. I have received care here since March 2025, and the women on the team have given me tremendous emotional and medical support. Nearly a year later, I am about to graduate from the program and am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I could not be happier. The journey was not always easy, but I am so grateful for the support and professional guidance of these exceptional women!

    Michelle was amazing! My wife has very difficult veins and usually requires several attempts, but Michelle succeeded on the first try—calm, confident, and highly skilled. Even better, she generously shared her technique with us. My wife later told another nurse at the Rockville location, and it worked again! That alone says a great deal about Michelle’s expertise. She made a normally stressful needle stick incredibly easy. We are very grateful and highly recommend her.

    The staff at the Frederick Shady Grove Fertility office are very kind and made me feel supported. The clinic is always clean, organized, and runs smoothly. The sonographer is friendly and knowledgeable and patiently answered all my questions about imaging results and pregnancy. I am sad that I will not see her after transferring to my regular OB-GYN. I have received fertility treatment at Shady Grove Fertility twice and have only gratitude and positive experiences from their professional care.

    This has been one of the most difficult experiences I have ever had. Problems have continued since we began working with this company. I first contacted the Hagerstown office, which is only a satellite office and currently performs no procedures. The doctor was kind and made us feel confident about treatment. My first clinic visit was in Frederick. I am grateful to nurse practitioner Milka and my initial contact Julie. Both were wonderful, kind, helpful, and thoughtful. After initial treatment, we were excited to begin IVF injections and egg retrieval. Yet after nearly six months, they told me my BMI was too high for sedation and had to be below 40. My weight had not changed since we started, so I do not understand why they waited so long to tell me. They then promoted a new GLP-1 program. I understood the medication was not covered, but they waited until one minute before my appointment to say the GLP-1 nurse consultation was also not covered and that all visits, follow-ups, and medication would be self-pay. I canceled. For a year I have dealt with incorrect billing. I repeatedly contacted SGF and my insurer, but SGF's claims team seems unable to process claims correctly. My insurer ultimately submitted multiple duplicate claims while SGF kept calling them pending. I sent SGF my EOB several times. It is now March 25, 2026, and I still do not have a final resolution for services received on March 17. They appear unable to bill correctly. At Rockville they also overcharged me nearly $600 for a procedure and took more than three months to refund it, leaving me unable to trust their billing. They ruined our care experience and created obstacles throughout. We will never return, and anyone using insurance should consider other options. This is awful. After my husband's cancer chemotherapy, we simply wanted to have a child.

    Words cannot describe our terrible experience with this company. The doctors and nurses were excellent, patient, and informative, and the clinical staff cared very well for my wife. Everything else about the company felt like a blatant attempt to extract every dollar from us and our insurer. Be extremely cautious with the front desk and management. For a procedure in Rockville, we were told we had to pay more than $1,200 upfront without being told it was only an estimate or that we could pay later. We were forced to prepay and told this was after our out-of-pocket responsibility, but the actual charge was less than half the estimate. We discovered this only because our HRA denied reimbursement due to SGF's incorrect billing, which I no longer believe was accidental. It took more than three months to resolve the first issue and recover our money because they billed both our insurer and us for the same service. For the past year we have also disputed every other claim, with no resolution. They use different codes each time, leaving us dependent on the insurer's EOB. They repeatedly submitted the same claim, producing five pages of duplicates when they last demanded payment. We were quoted one amount by phone, billed another, and then emailed a third amount higher than either. They offer additional consultations about GLP-1 medication and genetic testing but never disclose that these specialist consultations cost hundreds of dollars and are entirely outside insurance. Fortunately, we canceled one before being charged again. It is unacceptable that a company with either such poor bookkeeping or deliberate overbilling can continue operating. Research alternatives before using them, though I know options are limited. After cancer forced me to undergo chemotherapy, we simply wanted a child.

    We had an amazing experience at SGF Frederick! Dr. Bromer took time to discuss every option in detail. He explained that several treatment plans were available but believed the one we ultimately selected could help us become pregnant as quickly as possible. Sure enough, our first cycle of medication and intrauterine insemination (IUI) resulted in a twin pregnancy! When we received the news, everyone at the clinic was very kind, supportive, and caring. From the nurses and physician assistants to the office staff, everyone cheered us on. (I wish I could remember every name!) They even affectionately called me “scarf girl” because I always wore my warm scarf to appointments during the cold winter! Our family is now complete with our wonderful twins, and life is beautiful. We thank Dr. Bromer and the SGF team for helping us have a safe, healthy pregnancy.

    This clinic has truly touched me. At every visit, the entire team is enthusiastic, positive, warm, and friendly. For more than a year, Toni has been extremely patient and thoughtful, providing tremendous support through everything I have experienced. She always listens and offers sincere, considerate advice. Dr. Broomer is equally compassionate—he listens to my concerns, understands my circumstances, and always tries to make the choice he believes is best for me. Before surgery, he personally called to wish me luck; even when there was difficult news, he made sure to contact me promptly. That level of care deeply moved me and brought me to tears several times. Milka is energetic and positive and always explains everything in clear, simple language. Michelle and the entire blood-draw team are also wonderful—always optimistic, supportive, and understanding. This clinic genuinely cares about its patients, and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

    I have nothing but great things to say about my experiences with Shady Grove Fertility. From the very beginning, everyone was very helpful, kind, caring and willing to help my wife and I achieve our dreams of one day having a baby. Jamie Dean, our nurse who has worked with us and been by our side since 2021 was and is the absolute BEST! She was always so kind and nurturing throughout our process, even when we walked away sad. We continued to try and became pregnant in 2026 using IVF for the very first time and it was a success. I gave birth to my beautiful and healthy baby boy a few days ago at the age of 40. The entire team at SGF between various locations have been amazing and I just thank you all for helping to make our dreams come true!

    Had a great experience here for my egg retrieval!!! The anesthesiologist was so kind & patient with me, given I was nervous; the doctor, embryologist, nurses all were very kind/nice and explained who they were/what their role was. Although I was there for a few hours, it felt very quick because other than a 30 min wait for IV to hydrate you they're using that time to prep/explain or something is being done. I was knocked out, woke up and within 30 minutes able to go home with husband & knew egg count before I left. What stuck with me was how kind and good mood the team was. Look forward to working with this team in future for any implants! There's also a nice shopping complex nearby to grab breakfast after :)

    I have been a patient at SGF for six years. Of course, the journey has not been entirely smooth, and we have experienced some ups and downs while working with this clinic. Overall, however, the clinic is caring and supportive and, most importantly, receptive to feedback. - Dr. Doyle is wonderful. He is kind, thoughtful, and knows his patients. He is careful and takes time to explain his thinking, and both my husband and I trust him. - Dr. Robinson is also excellent. I first met him at his previous clinic and was delighted that he joined the SGF team. I had to make a difficult decision about surgery, and he carefully explained each option and its advantages and disadvantages. He is direct but kind and understood the challenges I faced. After surgery, he was very attentive and responsive and, most importantly, did an excellent job! I have some trauma related to surgery and was very grateful to be able to trust him. - The care teams and nurse coordinators for both doctors I worked with were responsive, attentive, and very helpful. - During our embryo transfer, the steps taken to verify the correct embryo were very clear. With all the alarming stories circulating, it was wonderful to work with such a professional clinic. Why not five stars? I did ask to change doctors twice and complained to the finance department several times. As with any large organization, I encountered some people who lacked consideration or communicated poorly, and one person even became very angry with me. What I will say is that whenever you complain or ask for a change, SGF responds constructively. They listened to my complaints, apologized, and implemented the requested changes. This is definitely an advantage of working with a large clinic, and I encourage everyone dealing with infertility to advocate for themselves and/or their partner. Infertility is awful, but that does not mean you do not deserve to work with people who treat you well. Overall, SGF does that, and if you feel they have not, they will listen.

He patiently and thoroughly explained every step of the surgery—from preoperative care and the day of surgery through postoperative care. His clear communication eased my concerns and made a potentially stressful situation feel manageable. What truly distinguishes Dr. Robinson is his exceptional bedside manner. He is kind, patient, and genuinely compassionate. I never felt rushed or overlooked; instead, he made sure all my questions were answered and that I felt heard and supported at every step.     Shady Grove is a scam! We argued with them about my insurance from the beginning. They said my insurance covered nothing, which was not true. They did not submit claims to my insurer even though they were legally required to do so! They kept pushing their own insurance company. We ultimately received a check in the mail because we had to call the insurance company about a procedure for which I paid $250. Today I received a $250 bill from eight months ago, and I guarantee it is the same money they refunded us. I initially went to Shady Grove in Frederick, Maryland, and had the same problem. It seems you will encounter the same issue at any Shady Grove. I have looked into it and done my own research. It appears they do this to many people, and I have had enough.

    Going through this journey has many anxiety inducing and uncertain (scary) moments. Especially when it comes to surgical procedures. But the team at Rockville were so amazing! Dr. Csokmay, nurse Sabrina, and CRNA Steve made us feel like we were at home and provided not only their expertise, but also caring compassion which is not something that can be easily taught!     Saying I am unhappy is an understatement. Following the doctor’s instructions, we arrived at 7:30 a.m. so my husband could provide an on-site semen sample at 9:00 for our IUI. He was not taken back until 8:30. I angrily asked whether he would be taken back in time for my 9:00 IUI, since sperm preparation takes 1–1.5 hours. After I asked, they made another call and took him back within 5 minutes. While we waited, three couples were taken back to provide samples. The front desk staff discussed everything except work, including telling stories, laughing, and sharing photos of their children—very sensitive in this setting. Another couple came to provide an on-site sample and left 20 minutes later! No one explained why we had to wait or why our IUI was delayed. It was nearly 9:30 and we were still in the waiting room with couples scheduled for 10:00 IUIs. It would have been easier if the office staff communicated or appeared to care about why patients were there and how difficult it can be to walk through those doors. Our usual office was closed, which is why we came here, but I will never return. Even if it means a longer drive on weekends, I will use another office. When we left and I went to the desk to check out, they all stared at us. The person on the phone helped us while the others did nothing but watch.

    It is best to schedule your appointment several hours before you need to leave. My appointment was at 7 a.m., and I arrived 10 minutes before 7, when they opened. I am still waiting to be called back after an hour and a half. I am typing this in the waiting room now.

    I have been receiving care at SGF for over a year, and today I finally graduated—I am so excited! My primary physician during this time was Dr. Lauren Roth. I really like Dr. Roth; she is direct and data-driven, which are qualities I value in a physician. She always explained my condition carefully and answered my countless questions. My nurse Christie was also wonderful. She was always enthusiastic, positive, and optimistic. She was highly conscientious and always responded promptly to my questions and concerns. Special thanks also to my medical assistant Jewel, who was very kind at every follow-up visit. I am giving four stars because I had some unpleasant experiences during my time there. I believe all SGF employees should receive training in trauma-informed care. Unfortunately, I experienced two miscarriages. At some appointments I felt anxious because I was nervous and crying, but I did not feel that the staff responded with enough sensitivity. My interactions with Dr. Michael Levy and Dr. David Saffan were especially poor. I also wish the billing department provided a smoother experience. Overall, I am very grateful for the care I received at SGF because I am finally pregnant with my rainbow baby.

    The staff were pleasant, but Shady Grove tried to charge both my insurance and me twice for a procedure I had only once! They even used the same code and synonyms for the procedure name both times, although they told my insurance company that the second charge was for "ancillary services," which is completely false. This is outright fraud. If they do not correct the error immediately and remove the second charge, I will report them to the appropriate authorities for fraud.

    I had an excellent experience at both the Rockville and Washington, DC locations. I am especially grateful to my nurse, Juliet, who was very kind and helpful. My only issue was billing. If you use insurance, I strongly recommend carefully reviewing your explanation of benefits (EOB). Shady Grove requires an upfront deposit before any treatment to cover possible out-of-pocket or coinsurance costs, but this is only an estimate and you should not rely entirely on them to reconcile it. They overcharged me by more than $1,400, and getting a refund has been very difficult. It has been three months since I last received services from them, and I am still waiting for the refund.

    My experience at Shady Grove was amazing! I am 32 and was diagnosed with unexplained infertility after my husband and I tried to conceive for a year. We began treatment at Shady Grove in April 2025, completed three IUIs, and ultimately became pregnant on our third IVF cycle! Although the process was frightening and physically and emotionally exhausting, Shady Grove did everything possible to make it positive and hopeful. My doctor was Dr. Roth. She is highly skilled and listened patiently to my needs and every question. She advocated for me with insurance several times and attended every important ultrasound. I felt that she truly heard my concerns and incorporated them into the treatment plan. If a protocol did not work, she was willing to try something new and adjust quickly without wasting time, which was essential to me. Dr. Roth is compassionate, understanding, and optimistic. I highly recommend her and would return to her if I ever need IVF again! Special thanks also to my nurse, Juliet, who was wonderful! She always called with clear instructions and was extremely thoughtful. Everyone, from the front desk to the doctors, was friendly, positive, and efficient. The clinic was beautiful and clean. I never had trouble scheduling appointments, and I had many of them. Wait times were also short. I recommend Shady Grove to everyone trying to conceive—best wishes, because I know how difficult this journey is—and I strongly recommend Dr. Roth! :)

    I am sitting in my car in the parking lot, crying. I called twice. The first time, someone answered and immediately hung up. The second time, I was speaking with the front desk when the call was disconnected again. I am part of this medical network and was asking whether my records could be sent to another highly regarded physician. I live far away and wanted to know whether I might qualify for surgery related to Asherman's syndrome. The clinicians where I now live are wonderful, but I wanted one final opinion before abandoning other treatment options and considering surrogacy.

    This has been one of the most difficult experiences I have ever had. Problems have continued since we began working with this company. I first contacted the Hagerstown office, which is only a remote office and currently performs no procedures. The doctor was kind and made us confident about treatment. My first clinic visit was in Frederick. I am grateful to nurse practitioner Milka and my initial contact Julie. Both were wonderful, kind, helpful, and thoughtful. After initial treatment, we were excited to begin IVF injections and egg retrieval. However, nearly six months after we started, they told me my BMI was too high for sedation and had to be below 40. My weight had not changed, so I do not understand why they waited so long to tell me. They then promoted a new GLP-1 program. I understood that the medication was not insured, but only one minute before the appointment did they disclose that the GLP-1 nursing consultation was also excluded and that all visits, follow-ups, and medication would be self-pay. I canceled. For a year, I have struggled with their billing errors. I have communicated with SGF and my insurer, but SGF's claims team seems unable to process claims correctly. My insurer ultimately received multiple duplicate claims while SGF kept saying they were pending. I repeatedly submitted my explanations of benefits (EOB) to SGF. It is now March 25, 2026, and I still lack final results for services received March 17. They appear unable to bill correctly. At the Rockville office, they overcharged me nearly $600 for a procedure and took over three months to refund it, destroying my trust in their billing. They ruined our experience and created obstacles at every turn. We will never return, and if you plan to use insurance, consider other options. This has been awful. My husband underwent chemotherapy for cancer, and we only wanted a child.

    Words cannot describe our terrible experience with this company. The doctors and nurses were wonderful, patient, and informative. The clinical staff took excellent care of my wife during visits. But every other aspect of the company seems openly designed to extract every possible dollar from you and your insurer. Be very cautious with the front desk and management. For a procedure in Rockville, we were told we had to pay more than $1,200 upfront, without being told it was only an estimate or that we could pay later. We were forced to prepay and told this amount remained after our cost-sharing, but the actual charge was less than half the estimate. We discovered this only because our health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) rejected reimbursement, saying SGF had billed incorrectly, though I no longer believe it was a mistake. It took over three months to resolve this first problem and recover our money because they billed our insurer and separately charged us for the same service. For the past year, we have also disputed every other claim with this company, with no resolution. They use different codes for every submission, leaving me dependent on my insurer's explanations of benefits to determine the correct claim. They repeatedly resubmitted the same claim until their latest bill request produced five pages of duplicate submissions. We were quoted one amount by phone, billed another, and have now received an email demanding a third amount higher than either previous figure. The company offers additional consultations about GLP-1 medication and genetic testing but never discloses that consultations with its specialists cost hundreds of dollars and are entirely uninsured. Fortunately, we canceled one before being charged again. It is unacceptable that a company lacking basic bookkeeping skills—or deliberately overcharging customers—continues operating. I suggest researching alternatives before using them, though I know options are limited. I was forced to undergo chemotherapy for cancer, and afterward we only wanted a child.

    I cannot fully express how impressed I was by our first experience at this clinic. We came for testicular sperm extraction (TESE) and egg retrieval. The coordination was flawless. Every staff member my wife and I met was professional, helpful, and went above and beyond. Our previous clinic experience was a nightmare, while Shady Grove's staff operated like a well-oiled machine. Every interaction was purposeful and carefully planned, and execution was seamlessly coordinated like Transformers!     Infertility is already one of the hardest experiences, and Shady Grove has made it worse. I just learned that negligence by my financial and clinical teams caused my insurance authorization to be denied. This means my next egg retrieval, already delayed because Shady Grove will not see me until authorization is obtained, will now be delayed another 4 months. I turn 40 in November. Do they not understand that every day matters in this process? You only hear from the doctor at the start of treatment and when there is bad news. It is nearly impossible to meet with them, and they delegate almost everything to the nursing team. I am deeply disappointed by their lack of thought and care. This clinic's mistake may cost me a child and my future.

    I would never recommend Shady Grove. My IVF experience was terrible. The title "patient care coordinator" is misleading: I coordinated all my care, spending hours daily between the pharmacy, insurer, and clinic begging for prior authorization. There was little or no counseling, and I always felt lost. My complaints include: - Repeatedly being told to attend on the wrong dates during intrauterine insemination (IUI). - No counseling after IUI and not learning until round three or four to avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). - A failed pregnancy test. - Overhearing doctors and nurses discuss my case before egg retrieval. - Anesthesia before egg retrieval. - Monitoring-call staff not knowing which weekend clinics were open. - Finance refusing an itemized bill. Unless you can coordinate all your care and investigate every mistake, avoid Shady Grove. Some nurses who call are also very rude and unhelpful, exactly what you need during the hardest time of your life :)

    Based on our recent experience, I do not recommend Shady Grove Fertility. On July 21, 2025, we booked a July 29 appointment at 9:30 a.m., completed all paperwork, and received an official calendar invitation. When we arrived, we learned Dr. Moon had apparently left one voicemail on July 22 requesting a change to July 31. That was the only attempt: no follow-up call, email, or updated invitation confirming we received or accepted the change. We wasted time attending an appointment that had been changed unilaterally without confirmation. This communication is unacceptable for a medical practice, especially fertility care, where timing and stress are already significant. A reputable clinic should use multiple contact methods and ensure patients acknowledge appointment changes. The lack of follow-up shows little respect for patients' time. I strongly recommend seeking fertility care elsewhere.

    I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Devine and his team. I received care from Dr. Devine twice, 6 years apart, and both experiences were rewarding. The nurses—Beth, Jen, and Emma—were responsive, communicated well, and helped whenever I had a problem. The phlebotomists were always highly efficient, and thanks to them I am no longer afraid of blood draws. Most of all, I want to thank our outstanding physician assistant, Shana, who handled most of my ultrasound appointments. Shana was a bright light, making every ultrasound fun, full of laughter, and honestly entertaining. My husband and I always felt as though we were spending time with a close friend rather than speaking with a healthcare professional. Shana, thank you so much for making our experience wonderful. I appreciated that they performed the hysterosalpingogram (HSG) in the clinic, making the experience quick and painless.     I loved my experience at Shady Grove. From the initial consultation, I knew I could trust Dr. Devine. She was patient, carefully reviewed my medical history before the consultation, and explained her analysis very well. She even shared her screen to show us IVF success rates under several different models, explained the differences, and clearly communicated her recommendation. During treatment, I visited the K Street clinic. Everyone there, from receptionists to phlebotomists, was wonderful—easy to reach, positive, and helpful. After each visit, I received a call from my nurse Jen, Emma, or Grace. They answered my questions patiently, took time to explain details, and always supported my decisions. They responded to portal messages very quickly; I never waited more than 24 hours, which was very reassuring. I had expected more frequent direct contact with Dr. Devine, but learned that she and the other K Street doctors reviewed every patient's results daily. Their treatment recommendations were simply communicated through the nurses, with whom I developed close relationships. I had two successful egg retrievals and one transfer at the Rockville clinic, which has a beautiful environment and wonderful staff. I am now 14 weeks pregnant. I am so glad I chose Shady Grove because it was truly the perfect place for me.

    I highly recommend Dr. Kate Devine. When I first saw her more than ten years ago, I was considering egg freezing but felt hesitant. She compassionately offered sound advice and a realistic assessment. This grounded me and gave me hope. She also made thoughtful protocol adjustments throughout the process. When I began IVF last year, I felt reassured knowing I was starting with her. Her focus on research and patient care helped me through this challenging period, and her distinctive approach combines empathy, skill, and experience. Recently, at age 45, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. I will always be grateful to her, her team, and Dr. Saffan. None of this would have been possible without them.

    I went in for genetic testing today, and everything went very smoothly. Although I arrived 30 minutes early, it took less than 15 minutes. Special thanks to Alanah for drawing my blood. If I had not watched her insert the needle, I would not have felt it. She was very gentle, quick, and kind. Incredibly efficient.

The blood draw team was patient, careful, and thoughtful. Fertility treatment can require blood draws several times a week, so having people who treat each patient with such care truly matters. The sonographers were also highly professional and made me feel at ease. Follow-up calls from the medical team were informative and supportive, and they patiently answered all my questions.     We are beyond grateful for Dr. Csokmay and his incredible team for helping us start our family. From our very first appointment, Dr. Csokmay was kind, gentle, and genuinely compassionate. He always took the time to explain each step of the process, answer our questions, and reassure us during what was an emotional and overwhelming journey.     I had an excellent experience with Dr. Selma Amrane. During the consultation, she was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and thorough. She answered all our questions and taught us things about genetic disorders that we had not previously considered. Ornella Adjeye was our patient care coordinator and was an excellent communicator who was always available to answer our questions. We wanted diagnostic information about our current fertility status, and she neither dismissed us nor pressured us. If I need fertility assistance in the future, I would definitely choose Dr. Amrane again.

    After a lot of research on egg freezing clinics, I decided to go with Shady Grove Fertility because of the Assure 20 Program--I'm so glad I did! Everyone at the office was so friendly and helpful! From the front desk staff to the nursing staff to the doctors, I felt like I was getting the best care. I'm especially grateful to Jane, who was my fertility nurse coordinator, and to Dr. Csokmay, who was my doctor throughout my program. Jane was a compassionate, knowledgeable partner for me throughout the process. She was quick to answer questions through the portal and went above and beyond to make the process as easy as possible for me! Dr. Csokmay was such a calming presence throughout the process, as well.     I froze my eggs at the Arlington office a few years ago, but because I live nearby, I came to the K Street office for blood tests and ultrasounds. The experience was terrible, with constant delays and extremely rude behavior. You work at a fertility clinic—find another job. Years later, I returned to Shady Grove. Dealing with the front desk here is still painful and again reminded me that it is worth driving elsewhere for any labs or tests. I cannot imagine being a regular patient here. No, thank you!

    I spent most of my savings and got nothing. I know success is not guaranteed, but their doctors are skilled at convincing you they can help you become pregnant while administrators avoid discussing hidden fees. I followed their plan, but it did not work. The medication prescribed to increase and balance testosterone did not work. None of their attempts worked. Their testing is accurate, but even after all the tests and everything else, be prepared to pay out of pocket because insurance covers only 5% of the cost. They charge for everything. I am now broke and cannot afford a child, which reminds me of what someone told me: infertility is a disease and problem for the wealthy. If you have money to spare—seriously, $79,000—and want to do everything possible, try it. Otherwise, you may end up frustrated and feeling useless, regretting the money and thinking you could have taken a vacation with your partner or used it for a down payment on a home. I advise anyone seriously considering treatment at Shady Grove to calculate every financial detail in advance and avoid payment plans, loans, or other financing. You may be better off flying to Colombia, the Dominican Republic, or Mexico and finding a fertility specialist who can provide all this and more for about $12,000.

    The team at Shady Grove Fertility’s K Street clinic is incredible! From the front desk and phlebotomy nurses to every technician and doctor, everyone treats each patient with dignity, care, and respect. As a queer, transgender/nonbinary person, I was nervous at first, but they made me feel completely welcome. I have never encountered such a compassionate medical team. I have been afraid of blood draws my entire life, yet this wonderful team made me look forward to every visit. They always make me smile.     Maybe I have just been unlucky. The office is nice and the staff are friendly, but whenever I come here, I know I will be late. For bloodwork, I am usually delayed by about 30 minutes. The process is disorganized, and this has happened more than once. If you have nowhere else to be and do not mind waiting, it may not be a big issue. But when you are sitting at the blood draw station and they call 8 people you saw arrive after you, staff do not seem to investigate unless you get up and ask.

    Hayden was amazing. I was very nervous when I arrived because I sometimes faint during blood draws. She took me to an examination room, elevated my legs, and had me lean back. I did not even feel the needle, and before I knew it, the vials were full and she was bandaging my arm. I have never felt so relaxed during a blood draw.

    I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Kathryn Devine and the team at Shady Grove Fertility. I found Dr. Devine at age 43 after a difficult fertility journey and prior treatment overseas. It took me a long time to find the right doctor and clinic, and I feel extremely fortunate to have become her patient. With Dr. Devine's treatment plan and the team's coordinated care, I became pregnant after my first embryo transfer, which still feels incredible. This is a very busy and highly organized clinic, so patients should understand that they may not have extended face-to-face time with the doctor at every stage. In my experience, however, the care was attentive, efficient, and well coordinated. I also appreciated that they respected my preferences, including my wish not to take birth control pills to schedule my cycle. I am now 44 and hope to deliver a healthy baby in December. I will always be grateful to Dr. Devine and her team for helping us reach this point.

    This SGF location is superb. The space is huge and beautifully furnished, providing a calming atmosphere. The exam rooms are clean and comfortable. Most importantly, the staff are some of the kindest humans you will meet—especially DeNae, Alanah, Hayden, Rose, and Ornella! Fertility treatment requires a lot of clinic visits and I was seeing these ladies multiple times a week. They always greeted me with a smile and showed genuine care and compassion. I felt reassured and hopeful each time I saw them. Highly recommend SGF (especially the K Street location) for anyone’s fertility journey.

    Do not come here unless you want to be deceived. Shady Grove has fallen extremely far. During fertility screening, my wife was exposed to latex despite her documented latex allergy. Apparently, the facility listed it in progress notes rather than in the allergy indicator. Instead of admitting the error, they denied any latex exposure despite my wife’s reaction, meaning the provider, Dr. Nicole Doyle, lied. Worse, they had the audacity to bill us. At best, this conduct is unprofessional.

    I met Dr. Bear at the office today. She was absolutely incredible. She broke everything down in a way anyone could understand. Every woman I met in the office was wonderful.     They made me go to Maryland for testing. The call center told me they do not perform male semen analysis and reproductive testing in the office, so I had to go to Maryland. I do think this should change, and I hope male and female reproductive health screening becomes more open and accessible, especially for people who cannot travel. People who cannot travel should be allowed to travel for work or medical care/health. A person's right to drive and travel should not be taken away except for murder or serious charges. I will make sure my great state of Pennsylvania respects this. The governor's and boards' guidance and projections for Harrisburg and elsewhere make this a great state. Amen.

    I highly recommend Shady Grove Fertility in Wexford to anyone considering treatment. Whether you only need monitoring, a medicated cycle, or any of the treatments they offer, you will be in good hands. As someone who experienced multiple miscarriages, seeking help was very intimidating at first. Dr. Nguyen, and especially the nurses and staff at Shady Grove Wexford, guided us step by step. Whenever a question or concern arose, their consistent and prompt communication through the portal greatly helped ease our emotions. We love all the staff, and everyone was very friendly at every visit. If you are reading this and nervous about medication or any treatment, I was there too. We postponed treatment for quite some time while staying in close contact with the care team, and when we finally decided to begin monitoring and medication, they were there to help us through it. It was worth every penny! Without hesitation, we give SGF Wexford 5 stars!

    After years of trying, multiple failed pregnancies, and several emergency surgeries, Shady Grove finally helped my wife and me conceive our first child. I will always be grateful for that.     I have been with Shady Grove since September 2024. My medical team has consistently provided a five-star experience. Working with my financial counselor, however, has always filled me with dread. The financial counselors need training in manners and professional ethics. They provide incorrect estimates, make billing errors, call to ask me for money on the day of my miscarriage, act rudely when my husband and I request itemized receipts, and much more!!! We are living through another person’s nightmare and spending more than $50,000 on treatment, so receiving no compassion or care is extremely upsetting.

    We went to Shady Grove Fertility Wexford for our IVF journey! The Wexford staff and office were always so welcoming and caring! Every morning monitoring appointment I was remembered by front desk staff and greeted by name. Demi made bloodwork painless and such a breeze and was so sweet! Dana and Susan were thorough, patient, and caring for each monitoring and procedure appointment. When we got pregnant with our baby girl after our successful FET, I could feel how truly happy the staff was for me and it was a bittersweet moment to graduate! I am forever thankful to the Wexford team for helping to make my dream of being a mom come true!

    In short, SGF helped my husband and me become parents to our son, and we will always be grateful to the SGF team. We had a wonderful experience with Susan and Dana, and the staff were always kind to us, even on the hardest days of our fertility journey.     I loved my experience at SGF! They were welcoming and helped ease my anxiety about my previous miscarriage. They go to great lengths for their patients. No one should have to experience infertility while dreaming of expanding their family, but SGF truly eased the pain. I highly recommend SGF to all my friends and family who may experience infertility or pregnancy complications. When I finally announced my successful pregnancy, the team felt like family.

    After several rounds of treatment, I feel this was an invaluable experience, especially during a difficult time. Everyone was extremely helpful and supportive, particularly Nurse Dana. She was like a counselor and made the entire treatment process comfortable and relaxed. I am very grateful!

    I am a gestational carrier who has had two pregnancies and will begin a mock cycle in a few days. Today I called the clinic to schedule outside monitoring. They took my information and said their outside monitoring team would contact me to arrange an appointment. I then received a call from my original fertility clinic saying that Shady Grove had refused to work with an independent gestational carrier who was not represented by an agency!

    I accompanied a friend to SGF for a procedure and truly appreciate the team's professional and thoughtful care! The warm welcome from the front desk helped her relax. The medical assistants she had been looking forward to seeing also made her laugh. Susan, the clinic manager, even came over to check on her and ask whether she needed anything else. Most of all, thank you to Dr. Lisa Green! She was very calm during the procedure and patiently answered all my questions. I wish I could give the SGF Wexford team even more praise! They are amazing!

    There are not enough words to express my gratitude to the SGF Wexford team. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is spectacular. The ultrasound techs, nurses, receptionists, phlebotomists, everyone. I transferred to SGF after 6 months at a different REI and it was the best decision I ever made. I love the fact that at Shady Grove you are assigned to 1 nurse, 1 doctor, and 1 financial coordinator -- this made it feel like a personalized team of experts that were not only IVF experts, but experts on my specific file and scenario!

    I was deeply impressed by Dr. Shen. He was outstanding during our meeting. He began by getting to know me personally, then asked appropriate questions about my unique situation. He thoroughly reviewed my history and was well prepared to provide recommendations, opinions, and information. Honestly, it was one of the best medical appointments I have ever had.
