One of the most accomplished physicians in his field, Dr. Sahakian has performed more than 10,000 IVF procedures and has helped bring more than 7,000 babies into the world. Together with his colleagues, he pioneered one of the most innovative financial programs in modern medicine.
Because PFCLA consistently achieves high success rates, the clinic is willing to assume the financial risk of treating intended parents with infertility. This program changed the practice of reproductive medicine.
Expertise
Dr. Sahakian focuses on treating same-sex couples and people experiencing social infertility. One of his proudest accomplishments is helping hundreds of LGBTQ+ couples fulfill their dream of building a family. He also specializes in treating patients of advanced maternal age, including postmenopausal women seeking fertility treatment with donor eggs. He helped one of the oldest documented women give birth at age 67.
Dr. Sahakian is board-certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and taught obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA Hospital for more than 10 years.

Education and Experience
After earning his bachelor's degree in biology with honors from the American University of Beirut, Dr. Sahakian earned his medical degree with honors from the same institution in 1987. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, one of the largest university-owned hospitals in the United States.
After residency, Dr. Sahakian completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his fellowship, he conducted extensive research on endometriosis and trained in all aspects of advanced reproductive technology, including IVF and third-party reproduction (egg donation and surrogacy). He joined PFCLA in 1993 and has served as medical director since 1998.

Dr. Evans and her team are the best. I cannot say enough good things about PFCLA. They were highly communicative and professional throughout the egg-freezing process. They assign a dedicated manager to guide you through every step, plus another person to handle billing and insurance.
Please note that some of their major procedures are performed at the larger Westwood office.

Truly the best fertility center in Los Angeles. Fertility treatment can be one of the most mentally, physically, and emotionally difficult experiences of your life, but PFCLA made ours as comfortable and positive as possible. From the beginning, Dr. Sepilian and Mary, our coordinator, made us feel heard and cared for and treated us as people, not just another patient. They always took time to address all our concerns and questions and were consistently very responsive. After 1 IVF cycle at PFCLA, we are now 4 months pregnant and extremely grateful. I enjoyed being their patient so much that I even tried to persuade Dr. Sepilian to deliver our baby. We cannot wait to return for our next transfer.

They refused to estimate the cost of an egg-freezing cycle before a consultation, which costs $350. I have never had this experience anywhere else, including at their Westwood location. I might therefore spend $350 on a consultation only to learn that they charge an excessive amount for the cycle. The person on the phone said, “It depends on many factors,” but refused to say what they were. How do storage, retrieval, and anesthesia “depend” when other clinics can provide definite prices? It feels predatory.

I highly recommend Dr. Evans and her team! She is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and passionate about her work. Infertility is challenging, and she supported us closely throughout treatment. My spouse and I both appreciate her calm manner and warm bedside approach. Her team is also excellent—Amada is a compassionate, detail-oriented clinical coordinator who is always helpful. All the nurses and other staff at the Glendale office are outstanding as well. We have always found Dr. Evans attentive and are glad we found her. As an LGBTQ+ couple, we also greatly appreciate the inclusive care she provided.

Dr. Evans and her team are wonderful. I primarily saw her at the Glendale clinic but also met other PFCLA physicians, and I cannot say enough good things about them. Although this is usually not a pleasant experience, they made it as good as possible.
The process had many ups and downs, and Dr. Evans stayed beside us, helping us understand every step. She is kind, wise, and listens carefully to concerns. You can tell that achieving a positive outcome is always her priority. Many thanks to Dr. Evans, Amada, and the entire PFCLA team. We look forward to welcoming our daughter in a few months.

Dr. Evans is an incredible IVF doctor. She is approachable and considerate. IVF can be invasive, but she makes it as comfortable as possible. She seems to be very trauma-informed for example. Her communication is prompt and clear. Most importantly, she is skilled at getting you the outcome you desire -a baby or babies, in arm.

Everything seemed wonderful and sounded great at first, making it easy to feel hopeful. Afterward, however, the information became unclear, every appointment felt rushed, and the medical staff had poor attitudes. This process comes at a tremendous financial and emotional cost. Although I understand that they see many patients, patients deserve honesty and courtesy, both of which were often missing in my interactions with this facility.

For context, I have had egg retrievals at two different clinics several years apart. The first was at Pacific Fertility Center LA. The good news is that Dr. Evans retrieved my eggs, and I am very grateful for that. At the time, I was concerned because two of my friends had frozen their eggs at two different clinics, and their doctors monitored their hormone levels throughout the process. Dr. Evans did not monitor my hormone levels. She was not involved throughout my retrieval process, although I was told this in advance, and there was no follow-up after the retrieval or completion of treatment.
I recently completed another cycle at Pinnacle Fertility with Dr. Karine Chung. She monitored my hormone levels throughout and adjusted my medications as needed. Although I was older, the results were significantly better. If you must choose Pacific Fertility Center LA, I recommend asking:
1. Whether they will monitor your blood test results throughout the process.
2. Whether they will use estrogen priming or any other measure to ensure synchronized follicle development.
3. What their postoperative care and follow-up involve.
Dr. Evans was kind during my first retrieval, but I worry that she was not as thorough as other doctors. You may need to advocate for that level of care.

Being referred to Dr. Sahakian was truly the turning point in our fertility journey. My husband and I immediately felt at ease with his direct, informative communication style. His impressive credentials are evident, but it’s his confidence and clear expertise during every discussion that really set him apart. Dr. Sahakian is an exceptional doctor—highly professional yet reassuring. From the beginning, he was direct and honest and never sugarcoated anything. I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dr. Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Clinic Los Angeles. He is a fantastic doctor—kind, professional, and excellent at his work. With many years of experience, he is one of the best physicians in the field. I assure you that if you have fertility concerns or, like me, want to pursue surrogacy, you will not regret seeing him. He has countless success stories helping people realize their dreams of a family, and his staff are the best. I especially want to thank Julie Jin. She was outstanding and helped make my surrogacy journey easy. Whenever I had a question, she responded quickly and was always friendly, helpful, and informative. I could not have asked for a better coordinator. If I pursue surrogacy again, which I certainly hope to do, I would gladly undergo IVF again with Dr. Sahakian and his wonderful team. 10/10, highly recommended!!!

Terrible experience. He was very insensitive about a process that is extremely vulnerable and sensitive for women, especially in their 30s. I told him I had never become pregnant despite being in a relationship for four years, and he replied, "That concerns me." He also suggested that at my age, to be safe, I should consider 2 rounds of embryo creation and 3-4 rounds of egg freezing, claiming the cycles would have "no effect on your body" and no side effects—as if 1 cycle were insignificant. He also tried to tell me supplements do not work, which I know is false. Finally, after telling me my egg count was declining, he said I had a beautiful uterus, which felt inappropriate. Overall, Dr. Sahakian was insensitive, arrogant, and lacked clinical etiquette and empathy. I strongly advise against seeing him.
