Jonathan Kim, M.D., is a compassionate, skilled fertility specialist board certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). He completed his OB/GYN residency and REI training at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Kim combines expertise and empathy to support patients through fertility treatment. 

An experienced Houston-area physician, Dr. Kim is pleased to continue helping families pursue parenthood. He understands the emotional and physical challenges of fertility care and provides individualized treatment plans for each patient’s needs. 

Dr. Kim provides patient care at SGF Houston’s Katy location. Outside work, he values time with friends and family and enjoys reading, tennis, basketball, and playing the violin.

    Dr. Kim's team—wonderful people! From Leslie at the front desk to the women who do bloodwork, who have magic fingers because you do not feel a thing, to nurse Paige, who always makes me smile. She is the most cheerful person. Nurse Tanya is soft-spoken and has a nurturing, motherly warmth that gives me confidence. Thank you to Miss Dori for her kind personality, and to Dr. Kim himself, who is very cool and kind. It is like working with one big family. I would not have it any other way.

    This office is amazing! The atmosphere is always very relaxed and welcoming. I was accidentally scheduled at another location, but when I arrived here, they fit me in this morning without any problem. Leslie at the front desk is always so kind and helpful whenever I visit! :) I also love the books in the waiting room so much that I bought them for myself and other IVF sisters. They are very inspiring books, and some of the poems really spoke to me and my journey.

    We followed Dr. Kim from another clinic. We love him, and the SGF team is even better than our previous clinic. They are friendly and treat you like family, knowing your name and status before you reach reception. I believe they anticipate my pregnancy almost more than I do. They truly make you feel like family. The experience was wonderful, and when we try for a third baby, we will return to Dr. Kim and his SGF team.

    Great experience today! Sonographer Tanya was wonderful and the first to use a gel warmer on the probe, making the exam more comfortable. She was attentive and knowledgeable!

    Communication is extremely poor. After paying for treatment, we made countless calls, left numerous voicemails, and sent many portal messages, yet a week passed without any response. When necessary steps cannot be taken promptly, delayed responses can waste time, money, and energy and may even cause treatment to fail. We received a voicemail far too late, and appointments were postponed at the last minute without prior guidance on what we should do.

    It has been a long journey for us. I highly recommend Dr. Jonathan Kim and his team at SGF Katy. Dr. Kim is kind, compassionate, and warm, and he takes the time to sit down and patiently explain everything. We initially had some issues with insurance and our financial counselor, but he personally followed up to help resolve them, and his counselor Laurie Hix efficiently got everything arranged for us. He was also very transparent about what to expect throughout the process. From the beginning, he gave us confidence and clarity, which was invaluable to me. Special thanks also to Leslie, Paige, Tonya, Ivy, Dorian, and everyone else at the clinic, in case I missed anyone. This journey can be difficult, but having an excellent medical team by your side makes a tremendous difference! Best wishes to everyone about to begin this journey. I highly recommend SGF Katy.

    Dr. Kim is amazing! I followed him from his previous clinic, and I am so glad I did. He is kind, thoughtful, and explains everything in great detail. He makes every effort to be there personally for each follow-up appointment. I have great confidence in his judgment and treatment plans. His team is also very kind, especially his ultrasound technician Tonya, who is warm and always patiently explains everything. I recently graduated at 10 weeks and could not be more excited! Dr. Kim gave us hope we never imagined possible. Thank you so much to Dr. Kim and his team! We will be forever grateful.

    Dr. Kim and his team are wonderful! Dr. Kim takes time to answer questions patiently and is very considerate throughout treatment. I previously saw another fertility specialist and clinic, but transferred to Dr. Kim after recommendations from a colleague, a friend, and an OB-GYN. After trying to conceive naturally for two years, I underwent IVF with Dr. Kim and became pregnant. We are very grateful!

    I’ll speak to wonderful support staff interaction I had as we all have unique clinical journeys: Laurie, my financial advisor, has been absolutely incredible. Even when something wasn’t technically in her lane, she consistently showed up, followed through, and helped me get answers when no one else would. During an already stressful fertility process, her responsiveness, kindness, and willingness to help made a huge difference. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely cares about her patients and our hurdles - not just accounts or paperwork.     I am truly impressed by the exceptional customer service I received by Dr Kim, his staff, and Laurie my financial educator. Dr Kim genuinely cares about his patients and very attentive.     Dr. Kim is truly a miracle worker. With his attentive care and guidance, our dream of building a family finally came true. He is highly skilled, but even more remarkable is how genuinely he listens to patients and thoughtfully guides them toward the best option.     We recently transferred from HFI to Shady Grove Fertility for our first IVF cycle, and it was the best decision of our fertility journey. Dr. Jonathan Kim managed our care, and his involvement throughout the process was very reassuring. Unlike our previous experience, Dr. Kim was personally present for every monitoring visit, which was extremely important. Having him there meant we could ask questions at any time and receive prompt, clear answers. His encouragement and support made our first IVF cycle much easier. We are very glad we made this decision!

    Dr. Kim is highly skilled and genuinely cares about his patients. He took time to understand my individual situation and developed the best IVF protocol for me. After two failed egg retrievals at other clinics, Dr. Kim helped us create six embryos in our first cycle with him.     We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Kim and his outstanding team. Dr. Kim is kind, knowledgeable, and patient in explaining every step of the process. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was the entire team.     Our first and likely only IVF attempt was with Dr. Jonathan Kim. We went into it feeling that everything depended on this one chance. We knew very little about the process and never questioned his guidance. Looking back, I feel that we were deprived of hope, valuable time, and money. Despite multiple semen analyses showing low motility, high sperm death rates, and a low sperm count, they never recommended DNA fragmentation testing, even after our first embryo transfer failed. They gave me no details about the appearance or quality of the retrieved eggs and almost no feedback about the eggs that fertilized. Because there was so little monitoring, they did not even record the date the transfer cycle was canceled. They would not allow us to communicate with the laboratory. Instead of investigating the root cause, they kept urging us to do another IVF cycle and repeatedly mentioned donor eggs without truly exploring the problem. It was deeply frustrating to have such a personal treatment process handled with a one-size-fits-all approach, and it seemed focused on making money. The front desk’s attitude and last-minute extra fees left us extremely disappointed with the entire experience with him and his team.

He is extremely knowledgeable and patient, and always listens carefully to your concerns before guiding you in the right direction.     Most reviews focus on clinical care, but I want to recognize the staff at SGF Katy—especially my financial counselor Laurie. She changed my one-star review into five stars. Laurie is exceptional. Even when issues fell outside her responsibilities, she showed up, followed through, and found answers when others could not. During an already stressful fertility process, her responsiveness, kindness, and helpfulness meant so much. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely cares about patients, not only accounts and paperwork. I am profoundly grateful for her support when I needed it most. A caution: Dr. Kim is highly skilled, but his clinical team is very slow to respond to initial messages, as my account history demonstrates. If you can overlook the customer-service shortcomings and are fortunate enough to work with Laurie, you will be in good hands.

    Dr. Kim and his team are outstanding! From the start, he went above and beyond. Like a teacher, he explains complex medical information simply, often using analogies. He is kind, compassionate, communicative, and genuinely cares. I always felt heard and supported, never rushed. Special thanks to financial counselor Laurie. She is patient, helpful, and understanding. Fertility finances can be overwhelming, but she explains options and provides reassurance at every step. Dr. Kim has built an excellent team that shares his standards of care and compassion. Everyone, from the front desk to nurses and coordinators, was warm, helpful, and efficient.
