Dr. Agarwal is a clinical professor and director of fertility services in the Department of Reproductive Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He also directs the innovative UC San Diego Center for Endometriosis Research and Treatment (CERT, www.cert.ucsd.edu).

Dr. Agarwal graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, then moved to the United States and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Duke University. He completed a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. After fellowship, he taught for eight years at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and served as director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine. He moved to UC San Diego in 2003.

In addition to important research on infertility, PCOS, and endometriosis, Dr. Agarwal enjoys providing personalized IVF care.

Dr. Agarwal is widely known for research focused on improving treatment options for women with endometriosis. His expertise has led to invitations to speak nationally and internationally. He has also published many studies on improving infertility treatment.

U.S. News & World Report and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. have ranked Dr. Agarwal among the top one percent of reproductive endocrinologists nationwide. Best Doctors, Inc. has repeatedly named him one of America’s Best Doctors, and he has been listed among San Diego Super Doctors.

I would give zero stars if I could. I did not have a good experience. The clinic staff came across as cold, unfriendly, and condescending. My initial evaluation had two parts: the first was online and the second was in person. Because I have some ongoing health issues, the doctor wanted me to see all my specialists for medical clearance before scheduling the second part. The clinic was supposed to call me to schedule it but never did. When I called, the person seemed rude and did not want to schedule it until I had seen all the specialists, almost as though they did not want to work with me at all. It was then delayed for more than a month because the doctor was on vacation. It felt as though they did not want to work with me because I was too high-risk. At my second in-person appointment, I felt rejected, as though they truly did not want to work with me. This is an emotional experience, and it is ten times worse when you do not feel supported by the doctor involved!

This was not a good experience for us. My wife saw a different doctor/provider at each visit. No one seemed to take ownership of her case. The first doctor she saw kept calling her “dear,” which was unwelcome and felt outdated and strange. (For context, we are also physicians.) It is also telling that they emailed me asking for a review rather than my wife. Overall, it was a poor experience. I am only leaving a review because they subscribed me to their email list even though I did not request it, and they specifically asked for a review. So here it is.

I had a very good experience at Reproductive Partners Fertility Center. I was impressed by the clinic’s professional and efficient management of procedures. All the doctors were kind and welcoming. The nurses and coordinators were very supportive. The first cycle produced good fertilization results. Although the PGS yield was not good, the first attempt was still remarkable considering my age. The embryology team was especially excellent. The embryologist called promptly with progress updates. Laboratory manager Zhang Wei was very professional and patiently answered all my questions. Overall, I am very satisfied with the medical care provided by this clinic. The surgical process was seamless, procedures were performed on the same floor, meditation and transportation were easy, the instructions were very clear, and last but not least, garage parking was convenient.

We had a wonderful experience at RPFC. Dr. Su was excellent and helped us through the crazy IVF journey. We appreciated her conservative approach and felt that she truly considered the science and the long term for me and our future child. We felt supported throughout the process and always had great experiences with every doctor and nurse we worked with. We now have a healthy 7-year-old boy who keeps us very busy!

Reproductive Partners Fertility Center was very helpful at every step of my IVF journey. They have coordinators who work directly with you to keep you on your medication and treatment plan so the doctors can focus on the medical aspects. They handled my information very carefully when I did not want to know the sex of the embryo, and they were very helpful when I wanted to know whether I was having a boy or girl. My two-year-old son is here because of RPFC! Thank you!

The RPSD center is an amazing clinic. From walking in and meeting with my nurse Sarah, to chatting with the anesthesiologist and my doctor (Dr. Anglin), they all made me feel comfortable and taken care of during the whole process. My wife and I have been undergoing IVF at RPSD, and everyone has been kind, professional, and attentive. Throughout the process, Dr. Wynott answered all our questions, explained everything in detail, and was consistently caring and friendly. Our care coordinators, Vivian and Sharon, helped with scheduling, guidance, prescriptions, and medication refills, all of which would have been very time-consuming without them. We completed our egg retrieval this morning, and everything went smoothly. We had plenty of time to ask questions and felt heard. Katherine received attentive care during the procedure performed by Dr. Stanhiser, which reassured me. Special thanks to Sarah for ensuring Katherine was cared for during retrieval and for being so kind and friendly all morning! We have spent a great deal of time in clinics and hospitals, and people like her truly make a difference in our lives!

Reproductive Partners changed our lives. We are deeply grateful to have worked with Dr. Garzo, who helped us have our lovely son, and to Dr. Su, who guided us through IVF and helped us have our beautiful daughter. Every appointment brought many emotions, especially the ups and downs of egg retrieval. The surgical center was first-rate. Every nurse and medical professional we met was professional and eager to support my husband and me. Britt was my coordinator, and honestly, I do not know how I would have managed without her. She truly became my friend! She kept everything under control, and I never felt stressed by missing information or uncertainty about what to do. Christine was my nurse on retrieval day, and she was the best. She was warm and calm on a stressful day. She guided me through every step and explained what to expect. After surgery, when I was crying and emotional, she sat with me and helped me realize how fortunate I was. The surgical team remained wonderful throughout—professional yet comforting—and I always felt prepared for each next step. When I came to Reproductive Partners for my embryo transfer, I felt welcomed into a wonderful family by warm, attentive staff. I still remember our first scan when we saw our daughter. Of 9 visits, this has happened 3 times. At each visit, it takes them 20–30 minutes to bring you back. If other appointments run late, yours is affected. A reminder: please respect your appointment time because delays affect others. This is helpful to know for someone like me who drives 1.5 to 2 hours each day for appointments and has a frequently changing work schedule. I recommend using PTO to reduce stress. The office staff, from reception to the nurses, are very friendly. Kaiser does not provide the floor number. If your first appointment is on a weekend, be sure to ask: 8th floor, suite 800. The building feels deserted. The office is very clean.

From start to finish, we had a wonderful IVF experience with Dr. Garzo and nurse Tiffany. I still remember speaking by phone with the lovely Elizabeth, who walked us through all the medical and financial details that were new to us while we explored different treatment options. Elizabeth was thorough and helpful. I am so glad we chose RPFC. Tiffany supported me throughout IVF and made what could have been an overwhelming process feel effortless. She is absolutely the best nurse I have ever met. All the nurses were friendly and easy to work with when I came in for blood draws and other tests; the staff here are truly wonderful. Dr. Garzo took excellent care of me, communicated clearly, and was fully informed about the latest research. Tiffany and Dr. Garzo are both very intelligent, so we felt very confident about our chances of IVF success. Everyone's body responds differently, so each day you rely on your doctor for the best medical advice. We trusted Dr. Garzo and were always impressed by his recommendations and calm, kind manner. I am delighted to say that our first IVF cycle was successful, and we now proudly have an eight-month-old baby boy!!! I absolutely recommend RPFC for any infertility treatment. Update: At age 41, we had our second son with Dr. Garzo, with a success rate above 20%; at 44, we had our third child, our daughter, with only a 4% chance!!!! Each time we obtained one healthy embryo, and I successfully carried that embryo. Dr. Garzo was very realistic about our chances but did everything medically possible to ensure the best outcome. We thank God and Dr. Garzo for working miracles through his hands, care, and expertise. Our children are now one, four, and seven, and all are very healthy. I still cannot believe we were given these miracles. Had things not progressed and we been devastated, I believe Dr. Garzo would also have given us security and comfort. The nurses have been consistently very, very kind throughout six years. I highly recommend this clinic!!!!!!!

I recently completed an egg retrieval at San Diego Fertility Center. Overall, I had an excellent experience with the clinic and its doctors. My care coordinator, Ryanne Brust, was responsive and helpful, always replying quickly whenever I had questions. Care coordinator Charlene also supported me by teaching me how to give injections and patiently answering all my medication questions. The women in the blood draw department were also wonderful: kind, gentle, friendly, and compassionate at every visit. Special thanks to my dear friend and nurse, Amanda Druppel, who was exceptional throughout. She originally recommended the clinic, answered all my questions, drove me to and from the clinic on procedure day, served as my nurse during the retrieval, stayed with me for 24 hours afterward, and even gave me my first injection and trigger shot. The surgical center staff made me feel comfortable and safe on retrieval day. The setting was clean, peaceful, and welcoming, and the nurses were kind and reassuring. My fertility doctor, Dr. Su, provided outstanding expertise and guidance throughout treatment. Dr. Lin, who performed my egg retrieval, was kind, attentive, and patient with my questions without making me feel rushed. Overall, this is an excellent fertility center with outstanding communication and professionalism. I would recommend San Diego Fertility Center to anyone undergoing egg freezing or fertility treatment.

I hardly know where to begin. My wife and I began our reciprocal IVF journey at RPSD last August, and Karolina made the entire process remarkably easy from the start. With her guidance, something potentially overwhelming quickly became organized and manageable. During our many visits over the following months, we felt surrounded by a team that truly became like family. Keely, Ashlynn, Cece, Morgan, and many others welcomed us warmly with care and laughter, which mattered greatly during a long and difficult journey. Our coordinator Vivian is exceptionally thoughtful. She celebrated every milestone with us, and her encouragement meant so much. The retrieval nurses Christine, Caitlin, Madison, and many others were also outstanding. They cared for my wife attentively, especially when things did not go well, and we will always be grateful. The embryologists impressed us with their knowledge and insight and handled our case with great respect and care. Finally, and most importantly, Dr. Jamie Stanhiser is beyond exceptional. You will not find another doctor like her. She has a special ability to brighten even the darkest days, and her expertise, support, and compassion are unmatched. As strange as it sounds, graduating from RPSD was difficult because we will miss her deeply. I wish I could express how much she means to us. RPSD was more than a clinic to us; it was a place of care, laughter, and hope. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who accompanied us and know they will remain part of our journey.

I transferred to RPSD because my previous fertility center made me feel that my opinions did not matter. At that center, I had one failed and one canceled egg retrieval. They suggested getting another opinion, and after doing some research, I chose Dr. Steinhauser at RPSD. From my first meeting with her and my coordinator Brittney, I felt heard, valued, and understood. They never made me feel uncomfortable for asking questions or advocating for myself. I am incredibly grateful to RPSD because I am now six months pregnant, and I know this center made our IVF success possible.

As soon as my husband and I met Dr. Agarwal at RPSD, we knew we had found the right clinic for our IVF journey. From beginning to end, every doctor, nurse, lab technician, and staff member was kind and considerate. Last but not least, I want to thank my nurse, Ashley M, for taking exceptional care of me on retrieval day and throughout the process. Ashley is not only one of the best nurses I have met, but also an excellent colleague. She made me feel completely safe at one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. Her calm manner, positive attitude, and humor put me at ease and allowed me to let go of my fear. I am truly grateful to her and the entire RPSD team for their wonderful care. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this fertility clinic. From the moment you walk in, you feel seen, cared for, and genuinely supported — you never feel like just a number here. Everything is incredibly organized, and the level of service is exceptional. They remember the little details about you, and you can feel that they truly have your best interests at heart. There are a few standout people who have made this journey especially meaningful for us. First and foremost, Dr. Lin. She is so caring, and I completely trust my health and future in her hands. She feels like a warm hug — steady, reassuring, and deeply compassionate. Brittney Gregg, our care coordinator, has been amazing. She is responsive, authentic, and has stood by our side through our million questions and even more emotions. We always know we can count on her. Our incredible nurses: Amelia — truly a gem of a human. We adore her. Jiaqi — pro-level blood draw skills and always remembers me. Morgan — kind, attentive, and wonderful in every interaction. Cece — always smiling and so sweet. The front desk superstars: Ashlyn — the clinic’s front door couldn’t be in better hands. She sets the tone with such warmth. Cece — a checkout and billing superstar who always goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. Sharon — I can’t imagine a more perfect person to greet you at the surgery center. And the surgery center staff: Tawny — immediately eased my nerves and made me feel safe. Leann, the anesthesiologist — warm, detail-oriented, and clear about what to expect. No surprises, just reassurance. And last, but not least, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the SNACK RACK. The Cheez-Its, the Nutri-Grain bars, the popcorn. On my worst days, that snack rack is always there — and honestly, sometimes that little bit of comfort makes all the difference. I’m sure there are many more amazing people I’m forgetting, but truly, we love this clinic. We had a consultation at another clinic before finding this one, and the difference was night and day. My wife and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with our care, and we’re so grateful to be on this journey with this team.

I had my egg retrieval at the gynecologic surgery center this morning. My nurses were Amanda and Sharon. Both were very kind and patiently explained the procedure and aftercare instructions. Even the anesthesiologist was warm and friendly. Thank you, Amanda and Sharon, for your gentleness, thoughtfulness, and care. My entire IVF treatment has gone very smoothly. Sheri is my nurse coordinator and has always been professional and friendly. This clinic deserves more than five stars. They treat people with kindness and compassion, and you never feel like a number. I highly recommend this clinic!!!

My wife and I underwent egg retrievals at the same time and visited the clinic almost daily, giving us a close view of how efficiently Reproductive Partners operates over the past several weeks. The team is exceptional and impressive. From the moment you enter, the staff are warm and welcoming, especially Cece Flores, who is undoubtedly the hardest-working person there. I noticed that patients see a physician within five minutes of their appointment time, which is uncommon at most clinics. I have heard people compare this clinic to a spa, and I completely agree. We felt relaxed and comfortable at every daily visit. I cannot imagine a better atmosphere for reproductive care, or any clinic. Having the same medical technician, Taylor, care for us provided personalized attention. She made time to connect with us and understand our entire journey, making us feel valued and confident that we were receiving the best care. Taylor's blood-draw skills are remarkable—you can barely feel the needle—and after appointments, she spent a few minutes with us to help us process our thoughts, giving us reassurance and confidence in our final decisions. The care coordinators kept everything running smoothly, with Brittany skillfully overseeing the entire operation. They coordinated communication among patients, physicians, and nurses clearly and efficiently, preventing information gaps. Our coordinator, Charlene, was outstanding and responded promptly even when her out-of-office message was active. She showed genuine concern for our entire journey and even contacted us after surgery. Dr. Stanhiser is truly a superwoman. We are very grateful for her support, kindness, and clear explanations. She patiently answers questions and speaks with you in a way that makes you feel like her only patient. Dr. Lin was the surgeon on duty for our procedures. Initially, I worried that Dr. Stanhiser could not participate in part of our care, but meeting Dr. Lin put me at ease. Her extensive experience is unmatched, and her surgical skill allowed both my wife and me to feel well the day after our procedures. The La Jolla Women's Surgery team was very welcoming, and the entire team was ready when we arrived. Each team member met with us individually before surgery, making us feel that everyone understood our progress. Madison is a nurse practitioner who cared for us as a nurse on the day of surgery because she genuinely loves her work, which was evident in her skill and manner. Caitlin and Katie supported us throughout, and anesthesiologist Leanne made the experience easy, painless, and reassuring. Finally, I have never had such a clear medical billing experience. Costs were explained from the beginning, and final charges were at or below the estimates. I never felt anyone was trying to overcharge us. Everyone seemed genuinely invested in our success rather than money. As someone who saved for more than a year, I found it entirely worthwhile, with no surprise charges. I believe our excellent experience so far represents only a small part of this exceptional team's work and directly reflects how well each person performs their role. I cannot praise the San Diego Fertility Center team highly enough. As a surrogate for a close friend, I knew the process could sometimes feel overwhelming, emotional, and medically intimidating, but their team made me feel supported, encouraged, and even joyful. From the beginning, their guidance and communication were clear and organized. Every step was thoroughly explained, and they always answered my questions with patience, kindness, honesty, and professionalism. Sometimes I needed extra reassurance or support, but they never made me feel burdensome or rushed. What impressed me most was their dedication and care. They worked weekends and called on holidays when important information arose, and throughout the process they made both me and the intended parents feel genuinely cared for. We will always be grateful to RPSD for helping us welcome our three wonderful children. From the beginning, everyone we met was compassionate, professional, and genuinely caring. Special thanks to my nurse Charlene, who was exceptional throughout. She was kind, patient, and responsive and made me feel well cared for at every stage of treatment. Dr. Dubela was my primary physician, and I cannot imagine a better care provider. He is experienced and knowledgeable. Most importantly, he was always honest with me, even when the truth was difficult to hear. Over the years, I also saw several other doctors at the clinic, and all were excellent. I also thank the front desk staff, coordinators, and embryologists working behind the scenes. Everyone was welcoming and respectful, and their genuine concern for patients and outcomes was clear. Reproductive Partners is absolutely incredible. They are so kind and supportive, extremely knowledgeable. My wife had Dr. Harrison, and she is the kindest and most gentle MD I have ever met. Also, my wife had Amelia to get her prepared for the procedure, be with her during the procedure, and was with her at the end as well. Amelia was so kind, had an absolutely wonderful bedside Manner, and was exceptionally knowledgeable about all facets of my wife’s procedure. I want to specifically recognize the excellent nurses and embryology team. Aside from them, my experience here was deeply disappointing, with numerous problems involving clinicians at every stage. My primary doctor took several weeks off without sharing test results or arranging coverage. They did not create a treatment plan based on my goals, instead treating me like a routine patient or ignoring and dismissing my concerns while still charging the full consultation fee. They also scheduled more than one ineffective treatment cycle or procedure to collect payment. Staff were rude, every appointment ran very late, and visits felt rushed. Overall, they seemed to lack professional experience and often had little confidence or logic when planning next steps. I was even misdiagnosed. The financial team was also rude. I ultimately changed clinics, and the new clinic was a refreshing and far better experience. I recommend avoiding this clinic. If you do go, insist on receiving the answers and treatment you deserve and remain persistent.

We could never have imagined receiving such attentive care here. My husband and I agree that our nurse, Carly, is one of the best nurses we have ever met, if not the very best. She was not only highly professional but also kind, providing exceptional care on a day when we could easily have felt extremely anxious. Every member of the RPSD staff was friendly and considerate, going far beyond our expectations to help us. I highly recommend them to anyone undergoing fertility treatment—a perfect score of 10!

I was especially pleased by the efficiency and professionalism of Breann and the entire surgical center team on the day of my egg retrieval. The surgical center staff did an outstanding job during our egg retrieval. Sharon at the front desk was very kind. Maureen, the anesthesiologist, was attentive, considerate, highly skilled, and meticulous. Last but certainly not least, our nurse, Christine, provided exceptional care that far exceeded expectations. From start to finish, we felt very well cared for, all thanks to her.
