Dr. Edward Illions, United States
Dr. Illions joined the center in 2021. Previously, he was medical director of the University of Colorado's Division of Advanced Reproductive Medicine. Before that, he served as practice director of Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also developed and led its fertility preservation program.
He completed a reproductive endocrinology fellowship through the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed Army Medical Center while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He trained in reproductive surgery, advanced reproductive technologies including in vitro fertilization, and management of complex endocrine disorders in women. He completed his Air Force medical career in 1993 with the rank of lieutenant colonel and joined the University of Florida as director of reproductive endocrinology at its Jacksonville campus.
He has a strong interest in fertility preservation, reproductive surgery, and recurrent pregnancy loss. He strives to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care in a compassionate, personalized environment. He believes physicians must listen closely to deliver the individualized care patients expect and works to help patients achieve their family-building goals.
Dr. Illions moved to South Florida to live near his family. He enjoys playing and attending sporting events and scuba diving.

I cannot speak highly enough of my wonderful experience at the Fertility Center of Miami. From the moment I entered, the entire team—the front desk, sonographers, and nurses—made me feel comfortable and supported at every step.
Special thanks to nurse Maily, whose warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made me feel very well cared for. She took time to offer reassurance during this stressful process. Dr. Zhang was very thorough during my consultation, clearly explained my options, and made sure I understood every part of the process. The procedure with Dr. Ackerman and the anesthesia team went very smoothly. The entire process was seamless, and I felt well cared for by the whole team.
I am extremely grateful for the excellent care I received at the Fertility Center of Miami. If you are looking for a team that genuinely cares about your journey and supports you every step of the way, I highly recommend them.

This clinic exemplifies the healthcare problems in this country. Everyone knows healthcare here is extremely expensive, especially fertility care, but at this clinic everything about money is vague. They never tell you the cost. Only after you begin treatment do they add new fees. Fertilization fails for no apparent reason, they do not know why, and you keep paying. The care is terrible. Our journey to parenthood was extraordinary and would not have been possible without the unmatched expertise and compassionate care of the Fertility Center of Miami team. From the moment we entered, we knew we were in the hands of true professionals.
Dr. Illions is an exceptional physician whose knowledge and dedication are second to none. He guided us confidently through every step of IVF, always taking time to explain the process and answer our many questions. His commitment to excellence was clear in every interaction, and we will always be grateful for his role in helping us bring our little miracle into the world.

I had a wonderful experience with this group. The clinical staff were excellent, and everyone was professional, friendly, and kind. The office was clean and quiet. Denise was wonderful and knowledgeable and made the experience easy and comfortable. I definitely recommend this group.

I saw Dr. Ackerman for IVF. He was very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. The nurses were lovely and always willing to help and answer any questions. I recommend this fertility clinic to anyone seeking IVF treatment.

Everyone at this clinic is wonderful! Starting with Dr. Ackerman, who is very patient and kind and takes time to explain everything throughout the process. It is reassuring to have a doctor with so much experience and knowledge. Angie, the queen of the office, always has everything under control and ensures you feel at home. Ultrasound technician Dayi and nurses Teresa, Nicole, and Joanie keep everything running smoothly and inform us at every step. They are always so sweet and kind. We apologize if we missed anyone, but the staff here are truly wonderful! Thank you for making our dream come true! Graduating is certainly bittersweet. We love you all!

Thanks to the outstanding team at Miami Fertility Center, I am now in my third trimester. I had a frozen embryo transfer with Dr. Illions, and it worked on the first attempt! He is amazing—knowledgeable, compassionate, and very thorough. The entire staff was also tremendously supportive and caring and genuinely invested throughout my pregnancy.
After overcoming cancer, experiencing this miraculous pregnancy means everything to me. I will always be grateful to Dr. Illions and his team for making my dream of becoming a mother again come true. My entire experience, from beginning to end, was extraordinary.

I had an excellent experience with my fertility clinic. Dr. Akerman and his entire team are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and professional. The nurses are absolutely spectacular, and the nurse practitioner is exceptionally skilled and caring. From the medical staff to the front desk, everyone made me feel supported and well cared for throughout the whole process. Even the on-call service was attentive and helpful whenever I had questions or concerns. Our two-year experience with this fertility clinic (2021-2023) was incredibly disappointing. Because of the sensitive nature of the services, I cannot share specific details, but the problems were consistent: repeated errors, poor communication, and disorganization that left us constantly stressed and repeatedly questioning matters that should have been handled by professionals.
After giving them more than two years to improve, we switched to CCRM, and the difference was striking.
Based on our experience, I strongly advise anyone considering this clinic to think carefully. We saw too many preventable mistakes and cannot recommend them to anyone.

I have only good things to say about this clinic. Everyone—from the front desk staff to the nurses, especially Denise, insurance specialist Marylin, financial specialist Tania, and Dr. Illions—has been very kind, supportive, and thoughtful. I am still receiving treatment, but regardless of the outcome, I will always be grateful for the care they have given me. Thank you!

I am very grateful to this clinic because it helped me have a healthy, perfect son. I appreciated that, in addition to diagnostic testing, they strongly emphasized lifestyle changes before developing a treatment plan. All the nurses were wonderful and thoughtful. Dr. Ackerman is very knowledgeable yet down-to-earth and gave us hope during our most difficult time. I had expected him to be more involved throughout the process, but after the first few consultations, we did not hear from him again. I was not an IVF patient, so perhaps that was the reason. Overall, however, my experience was positive, and they helped us build our family!

I went there for a routine examination. A year later, I received a $300 bill for a consultation. All I received was a 5-minute conversation in which I was asked only one question about my motivation. I was never told this would cost extra, and it seemed required for the routine examination—really? Most importantly, the billing department is now difficult to reach. Be careful and ask about pricing in advance at every step of the process.

I have been trying to schedule an appointment for over a week, but no one answers the phone. It cannot be done online either. I called at different times and on different days, both morning and afternoon, but no one answered. This is a red flag! I cannot reach the center and would advise anyone to be cautious!

I will not deduct a star for the medical records department, but if you do not stay on top of them, things will not get done.

Avoid this place! Dr. Joel E. Taylor is unscrupulous and motivated only by profit. My husband and I went there for some “basic testing.”
Before we had even tried to conceive naturally, she told us we should pursue IVF with an egg donor and urged us to hear their financial plan immediately!
Yesterday, we received the total invoice for the “basic testing” she ordered: $14,000.00!
She only wanted our money! This place is a scam!
