Sonia Kim, MD, is a board-certified, skilled, and experienced obstetrician-gynecologist who provides care to women at every stage of life. Dr. Kim helps women maintain their health and prepare for pregnancy through infertility consultations, preconception counseling, well-woman exams, Pap tests, breast exams, nutritional counseling, and other health services.

She guides women through the changes and challenges of menopause. After earning her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados, Dr. Kim completed an internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She then completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

    If you are interested in fertility treatment, do not walk—run here. Given the general quality and bedside manner in healthcare, my expectations were low, but everything and everyone at this location, 290 Madison Avenue, absolutely exceeded them. The office is clean and well designed without feeling cold or clinical. All the staff, including the front desk and phlebotomy staff, were so friendly and welcoming that I would invite them all to my next Thanksgiving dinner. The doctors are also knowledgeable and have an excellent bedside manner. This could not be more valuable during fertility treatment. It has only been a few weeks, so I am not pregnant yet, but after visiting this incredible place, I am confident it is just around the corner.

    I am so glad I found Dr. Sonia Kim after many years. She had been working at this facility for only 4 weeks before my appointment. My previous gynecologist was unhelpful and refused to assist with any remote fertility testing. I found Dr. Kim on zocdoc, and after seeing her, I felt relieved because she and her staff were so warm and welcoming. Thank you all very much!!!

After 5 IVF cycles at other clinics, we finally welcomed our beautiful, healthy baby girl🥰 The process was always quick and easy, and the doctor always listened patiently and took time to discuss the options with care.     This place is a complete waste of time. I went for an annual exam, and they did not even perform an HPV test. I only discovered this when I checked the results myself. I called to request the HPV test at no charge, but they said they do not test for HPV before age 30. There are many better alternatives available. Do not waste your time at Ferny clinic.

    These people had me come every week for a year and a half, yet never did anything substantive for me and even told me I had cancer. You cannot imagine how much pain that caused. I gave up on becoming a mother. Then, three years later, God sent an angel who, with God's blessing and her own skill, helped me become pregnant and have my child in only three months. I believe these people are profit-driven frauds who only want to take money from insurance companies.

    I chose this fertility clinic because of its high ratings, but quickly realized that the reviews may only reflect people’s first visits. My experience declined sharply after the initial appointment. First, the initial impression was disappointing. Jessica at the front desk and other staff openly discussed patients in an unprofessional manner. Although the clinic is near Central Park, the interior was surprisingly outdated. The first appointment itself seemed fine. The staff were friendly, and I met the doctor and nurse. They both came into the exam room, made me feel comfortable, and completed the necessary tests. The second visit was where everything fell apart. After my ultrasound, I never saw the doctor or nurse. No one discussed my laboratory or ultrasound results with me in detail. I felt ignored, and the professionalism I expected was nowhere to be found. When I asked for an explanation, I was told the doctor was busy seeing other patients, but I still received no explanation. I left that day confused, frustrated, and alone. Third, when I arrived at the clinic, they could not find my ultrasound and laboratory orders even though they had been faxed days earlier. I had to call the other clinic myself while speaking with the nurse. Meanwhile, Jessica and her colleague at the front desk were laughing and talking in the background. The other clinic had to call Ferny, ask for a manager to ensure my appointment was not canceled, and fax the orders again. The manager never answered the phone. Before leaving, I explicitly instructed them to fax the results to the other clinic as soon as they were available so I could continue treatment. I arrived there at 7:30 a.m., but by 5:30 p.m., the results still had not been faxed. It took three calls before they were finally sent. This level of disorganization and lack of care is unacceptable, especially for a fertility clinic. I strongly advise anyone considering this clinic to look elsewhere. The emotional distress, poor communication, and feeling of being treated like a number are simply not worth it.

    So grateful to have stumbled across Dr Rosalie and her team at Ferny. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Though the clinic was full, I didn’t have to wait at all. Everyone worked as a team to get to all of the patients as soon as possible! Dr Rosalie made sure I was comfortable and had all of my questions answered, and Sunita, the MA, was so kind and efficient. They got me in and out so quickly without making me feel rushed at all! 10/10 recommend!

    I do not usually write negative reviews, but this experience was a nightmare, and I deeply regret visiting this clinic. I was planning a pregnancy and chose Ferny because it was in my insurance network. The clinic was extremely unhygienic, with dust everywhere, and the staff did not follow sanitation protocols, such as touching instruments and computers with medical gloves and then touching patients during vaginal ultrasounds or blood draws. Billing was also extremely complicated. The appointment began with a urine test and preventive screening. I chose genetic testing, and they also performed a uterine ultrasound because I said I wanted to check for problems before trying to conceive. Be aware that they charge for everything, even the urine test. Although they were in-network, I was charged more than $600 for one visit. This did not include the genetic testing, and the test they offered was not even the latest version; I learned when my husband visited a hospital that its panel covered more conditions. They also would not accept payment through insurance. Why? They could have told us to pay directly instead of saying payment had not arrived. Three months later, I am still dealing with this because Ferny would not accept payment, my insurer refunded me, and Ferny now says we must pay directly. This follows countless emails and calls with Ferny’s billing department and my insurer trying to understand the charges. Ferny also keeps sending me bills. The doctor looked at my ovaries for only 10 seconds and said I would have difficulty becoming pregnant. I became pregnant two weeks later, haha. Dealing with all this during pregnancy has been a nightmare. For your own sake, please choose a hospital-affiliated clinic and carefully verify the doctor’s credentials.

    My experience with my fertility doctor has been amazing. From the first appointment, I felt heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. She patiently explained every step, from cycle monitoring to ultrasounds and bloodwork, and never made me feel rushed or dismissed. I highly recommend her.     A high-volume appointment factory. I would never come here for anything urgent or important. You receive laboratory results, but no one explains what they mean. When I went, they were so overbooked that during midwinter they were one chair short of making people stand in the cramped waiting room. They do not discuss analysis of your laboratory results; you must contact them after the visit to schedule an appointment. A simple phone call or note from the doctor in your portal becomes an additional appointment or call, apparently with an overworked PA, never the doctor. They do not even honor those appointments. They scheduled two follow-up calls and kept me waiting over an hour each time. When I called to ask what was happening, they said, ‘They are busy with other patients; the PA will call when available.’ Neither call came. They simply rescheduled for another date without my agreement.

    First, Dr. Ahluwalia is one of the most understanding and patient doctors I have had the pleasure of meeting. She communicates clearly about everything happening and is very reassuring. She made sure I was comfortable before proceeding. MA Maidah was also very helpful. The front desk staff made me feel much more at ease. I absolutely recommend Dr. Ahluwalia to anyone needing a gynecologist. She is the best!

    I wish I had read the reviews before coming here. My experience at this clinic was very disappointing and difficult. I waited an hour for the doctor after already being seated in the examination room, and they sent me an invoice with absurd charges. They charge for phone calls as doctor visits, even when the calls are recommended by them. They repeatedly ‘forget’ to call back and reschedule calls to another day, forcing me to keep changing my work schedule. When they reschedule your bloodwork, they also charge for a doctor visit even though only blood is drawn. I have never been charged for speaking with a previous doctor or for bloodwork. Even if I had, the clinic would have been transparent about the price and warned me about out-of-pocket costs. I was also charged an outrageously high care fee, even after insurance, for what should have been a standard examination fully covered by my plan. Avoid this place at all costs. I do not support practices that exploit women through inflated costs or deceptive ways of making money. The people may be nice, but they are extremely disorganized and not transparent about prices.

    I previously liked my experience, except that they only see pregnancies under 8 weeks. Then I received the bill for my recent 7-week visit, with 9 separate charges totaling more than $2,000 and over $500 out of pocket after insurance. I have no medical conditions, and the baby is healthy, so the tests should all have been routine. Now I feel I dodged a bullet because I cannot continue seeing them after 8 weeks.

    Dr. Shabani Ahluwalia does not review the chart before seeing me and repeats the same things about my endometriosis every time I see her. I remind her that we have already discussed it and reviewed my care plan, but this happened about three times. I scheduled my last annual examination with her, but she did not even come in. Someone else came instead, and after a transvaginal ultrasound, they could not answer even a simple question such as, “Is my IUD positioned correctly?” I left feeling that none of my questions had been answered. They said they would call with my complete blood count and Pap smear results, but three weeks have passed and no one has called. I just called the clinic, and they said I would need another appointment to learn the results, but Dr. Shabani is fully booked. Does that make sense? :(

    When I first met Dr. Ahluvaliya, she explained everything in great detail. When I did not understand some points, she called her mother to translate and explain them in Punjabi because I am Punjabi. After meeting her, I felt as though I was with one of my own people rather than a doctor. She is an excellent doctor, and her staff are also very good.     I highly recommend this clinic. Earlier this year, my mother had an urgent medical issue in New Jersey and could not find a doctor who could see her immediately, so I found this clinic. They saw her right away and provided excellent care. A few months later, I returned to discuss BC treatment options and am now back for my annual examination. Dr. Ahluwalia is careful and thorough, never rushed, communicates clearly, and has a very kind and calm bedside manner. The other team members, medical staff, and front desk are equally warm, friendly, and helpful.

    I am in love with this clinic!!! Everything was wonderful, from the front desk staff to the nurses and gynecologist! I found my place. Dr. Ahluwalia is amazing! She is extremely thorough and knowledgeable, listened carefully to all my concerns, and provided a variety of resources and options. I have never felt so valued and heard by a clinic. Michelle and Jocelyn were also wonderful. 10/10

    Dr. Shabani was kind and professional and immediately put me at ease. She listened patiently to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and made the visit thorough yet efficient. I greatly appreciated her approachable, considerate manner. It is not easy to find a doctor who inspires such confidence. I left feeling reassured and well cared for. Highly recommended to anyone seeking an excellent gynecologist!

    I saw Dr. Rosemary Hazoglou, and she was wonderful! Highly skilled, kind, and welcoming. I felt very comfortable in her care, and she explained everything thoroughly. She also went out of her way to arrange another appointment for me, which I greatly appreciated. There was no wait, and the other staff were very friendly. Finding a good doctor in this city is difficult, and I am glad I found Dr. Hazoglou and this clinic. Highly recommended!

    I waited 75 minutes without seeing the doctor, and someone with an appointment 15 minutes before mine waited even longer. Never book the evening clinic! There is a wait every time, and more than an hour is outrageous. No one warned me about the delay. After 20 minutes, I asked and was told the doctor would see me in 10 minutes. Another 45 minutes passed, and I was still waiting. I strongly dislike clinics that disrespect patients' time. They blamed ‘too many walk-ins,’ but I had an appointment, so why was my scheduled time not honored? I could not reschedule either. I am very disappointed. When appointments are delayed by 30 minutes, the front desk should manage the situation better. They should not remain silent while patients wait. They did say the delay ‘obviously needs to be discussed,’ but being proactive helps. At minimum, please communicate.

    If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, this clinic is an excellent choice. The staff is warm, the facility is clean, and the atmosphere is peaceful and comfortable. Everyone is kind, and you feel comfortable and well cared for from the moment you enter.

    The reception staff was amazing and very kind to me. BUT I came for an IUD, and they tried unsuccessfully to insert it twice. After the second attempt, they immediately left me alone, crying in pain, and I left without knowing what to do. I had to book an insertion at the Central Park clinic. Everything went fine under sedation. At every step, I asked whether insurance would cover everything, and each time they said yes and that I would pay nothing out of pocket. Now, a few months later, I still receive bills for $600 here and another $200 there. I do not know when this will end, and their billing department has never replied to my emails.

    Everyone here is warm and friendly and makes you feel comfortable. The staff alone deserve five stars, and they are also very efficient.

    I would not recommend Dr. Ahluwalia or her team at Forney. The doctor was difficult to reach and did not clearly explain my concerns. Her staff were often slow to return calls and emails or did not respond at all, and when they did respond, the information was often inconsistent. Even other doctors had difficulty obtaining clear records about my care from Forney, and I spent weeks trying to find the details myself. Worse, Dr. Ahluwalia’s team emailed me sensitive information that I had never requested. Overall, poor communication and administrative delays added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.

    Dr. Shabani is truly a rare gem. From the moment you meet her, you feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. She is not only incredibly kind, but unbelievably thorough. She writes everything down, asks detailed questions about every symptom, and really takes the time to dig deeper. You never feel rushed or dismissed, she makes you feel like your health truly matters. As a mom of two, I’ve had more than my fair share of OB/GYN experiences, and no one and I truly mean no one comes close to Dr. Shabani. The level of care, attention, and compassion she provides is unmatched. Her office and team are just as wonderful warm, organized, and professional. I trust her with my eyes closed, which is something I don’t say lightly. If you are looking for an OB/GYN who will advocate for you, listen to you, and provide exceptional care, Dr. Shabani is the one. I cannot recommend her enough.

    I previously struggled to find the right gynecologist, but I have now seen Dr. Ahluwalia for two consecutive years and cannot imagine going anywhere else. She always listens patiently, answers my questions, and cares deeply for her patients. Special thanks as well to my medical assistant, Nijay, who made me feel very comfortable.

    I highly recommend Dr. Shabani Ahluwalia at the Ferlini clinic in Tribeca! She is exceptional—compassionate, thorough, and very patient. She takes time to explain everything in detail, answer every question, and ensure that you truly understand your treatment plan. Her warmth and professionalism made me feel completely safe and reassured. The clinic staff are also wonderful: friendly, efficient, and helpful, making every visit pleasant. Dr. Ahluwalia is deeply dedicated, and I am very grateful to have her as my doctor!

    Their billing practices are highly questionable. Do not be surprised if a billing error leaves you with a $2,000 bill. It is criminal.

    I saw Dr. Ahluwalia, and I have never felt so valued in any of my previous gynecology visits. I have always had irregular periods, and every doctor I saw before simply prescribed birth control as a quick fix. Dr. Ahluwalia, however, is helping me find the real cause instead of merely offering a quick medication solution. Everyone at the clinic was warm and welcoming, and it was an excellent visit.
