Our medical director, Drew Tortoriello, is an accomplished, personable, and compassionate physician. He ensures that you receive advanced fertility treatment while remaining comfortable and involved throughout the process. He is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist with decades of clinical and academic experience in infertility. He has delivered numerous presentations at national and international scientific meetings, several of which received awards. The National Institutes of Health selected him as a Women's Reproductive Health Research Scholar. He has appeared in the media as a fertility specialist, published multiple articles in scientific journals, and remains active in research to advance reproductive medicine. He is a member of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Endocrine Society, and Society for the Study of Reproduction.

Dr. Drew Tortoriello earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, followed by a clinical fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a clinical and basic science fellowship in REI at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Tortoriello is wonderful. He performs every scan himself and gives you as much time as possible to ask questions and discuss whatever you need. He is positive but also realistic and honest in his assessments. He responds quickly to emails and calls and provides truly personalized care. I absolutely recommend Dr. T, 10/10.

I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was at Sher. We had the privilege of working with Dr. Drew Tortoriello. We had previously been at another clinic and were not getting the treatment we needed and had felt like the doctor never had time to address our concerns even after failed treatments. We decided to travel to NYC from Michigan to work with Dr. Tortoriello, and it was the best decision we ever made. Dr. Tortoriello was in contact with us constantly. He made us feel taken care of and listened to. He answered our emails personally and promptly, and it was always he who delivered our treatment plan and results. When we traveled to the clinic, it was the doctor who did our ultrasounds and met with us. He was kind, understanding, and really listened. The treatment was much more tailored to our needs and specialized than our previous clinic. In less than a year and on our first transfer at Sher, we became pregnant for the first time. I am currently 11 weeks. We are so grateful for Dr. Tortoriello and all the staff at Sher. They made our dreams come true. I would recommend them to everyone.

From my consultation through egg retrieval day, my experience at Sher Fertility was simply amazing. The staff/doctors accommodated my work schedule and helped me get in and out efficiently without unexpected issues. Every concern was addressed promptly. Dr. Ravikumara and Dr. Tortoriello worked together to ensure that egg retrieval took place while my family was in town to support me. I am grateful for the experience with such a wonderful clinic and even better staff/providers.

Dr. Sher is extremely knowledgeable. He has an excellent manner with patients, and his only priority is helping you with his resources, extensive experience, and kind staff. Dr. Sher is also always available to speak with you. 10 out of 10—highly recommended!

I cannot recommend Sher Fertility and Dr. Tortoriello (Dr. T!) highly enough. Doctors like Dr. T are rare, and his communication is first-rate. He may not want me to say this, but I once emailed him at 11 p.m. on a Friday and he replied before midnight. Whenever I had a question, I spoke with him directly. In four years, I never had to call another doctor or a nurse hotline. The true mark of a good doctor is that with every transfer, he changed the next one based on what he had learned. I never felt we were simply doing the same thing repeatedly. Each time, he changed or adjusted something and worked out what might succeed. It worked! I was genuinely sad when he told me my OB would take over and that it was my last appointment. We have our rainbow baby entirely because of Dr. T.

I have worked in the fertility field for several years, and after unsuccessful treatments including intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF), I am glad I found Dr. Sher and his team. They are knowledgeable, compassionate toward patients, and provide thoughtful care. They listen and consider the patient's overall situation. I have not yet undergone treatment with them, but my first impression has been very positive, and I look forward to continuing so that under their treatment plan I may receive my own gift—bringing a life into this world.

My husband and I came to Sher Fertility Solutions for fertility testing so we could understand our options for trying to have a child. I am 36, so I was concerned that my ovarian reserve and egg quality might be low. We first met Dr. Sitara Ravikumar on Zoom and then saw her each time we came to the clinic. Dr. Ravikumar explained the possible fertility options very clearly and thoroughly, in a way that made us feel calm and supported from beginning to end. She and the team at Sher Fertility Solutions were very helpful and efficient. We felt well cared for. Soon after receiving the results, we found out we were pregnant. It was a wonderful surprise because our results had shown some abnormalities. When we emailed Dr. Ravikumar to say we thought I was pregnant, she readily arranged additional bloodwork to confirm the pregnancy and reassure us that it was implanted in the correct location. She answered all our questions and was very supportive in helping us find an OB-GYN we liked. We are very pleased with the care Sher Fertility provided.

Sher Fertility will always hold a special place in my heart because of their compassion, amazing communication, and the miracle they created. From the moment I spoke with Dr. Tortoriello, he made me feel calm and that pregnancy was possible. He answered emails late at night and on weekends with the results we were anxiously awaiting. Everyone at the front desk was wonderful—Casey, I love you—and my nurse Natasha was absolutely the best! The billing department was very clear, with no last-minute surprises, and always made sure they did the legwork with the insurance company for you. Dr. T listened to all my concerns, performed every test that could help me succeed, and tried different protocols. Because of him, I am now six months pregnant. I remember how calm he was when I was panicking because I did not get many blastocysts. He told me, "It only takes one," and he was right. Sher Fertility does not feel like a factory or hospital. It is the most personalized place to go when you are at your most vulnerable. In his office is a Gandhi quote that says, "It always seems impossible until it's done." Dr. T and his team are amazing. In 2023, we traveled to New York for an egg retrieval with Dr. T and had a transfer later that year. The transfer failed, which was very upsetting, but Dr. T's thorough preparation beforehand made me feel that we had done everything possible. Dr. T and the nurses were very kind throughout, and you could feel that they cared about us. A few months later, I conceived naturally—an incredible surprise after three years of trying—just before I was due to begin another transfer. You could feel that they were genuinely happy for us. Our son is now 13 months old, and we plan to have an embryo transfer at Sher using our last frozen normal embryo. We considered shipping the embryo, but ultimately decided to return to New York because I trust no clinic more than Dr. T and his team.

I appreciate his consultation and all the information he provided. However, I was dissatisfied that he disregarded my personal wishes and insisted that certain treatments were mandatory. I had also completed half of the blood tests he recommended, yet he refused to work with me on the testing. His medical ethics are poor, and I will not work with him again.

It is rare to find someone who takes the time to listen, and Dr. Ravikumar is exceptional. She was my OB-GYN and delivered my first child, and I am deeply grateful for her warmth and expertise. Under her care, I always felt safe and supported. She makes you feel understood without judgment and cares equally about your emotional and physical well-being. When she moved into fertility medicine, I was initially sad to lose her as my regular doctor, but it turned out to be a blessing when I had difficulty trying for a second child. Her guidance was essential throughout my fertility journey. She was thorough and guided me step by step, and thanks to her expertise, we succeeded on our first attempt. As a Black woman, finding a doctor who truly understands your concerns and provides such attentive care is vital. I recommend her to everyone I know. I had a wonderful experience at Sher. Before choosing Sher, I consulted four other fertility clinics, and Sher impressed me the most. I was treated by both Dr. Tortoriello and Dr. Ravikumar. They were very thorough, answered my questions patiently at every visit, and took time to listen without making me feel rushed. I completed three egg-freezing cycles here, and each protocol felt highly personalized. They did not use the same approach every time; they adjusted it based on my response, and the results improved with each cycle. I especially appreciated that every ultrasound was performed by a doctor. They responded quickly to emails and phone questions and promptly sent ultrasound and lab results, making the process much easier. All the clinic staff were wonderful as well. You feel welcome here, not like just another patient. I also like that they use VIOLET AI, which provides not only the number of mature eggs frozen but also more information about egg quality. I am so glad I chose them :)

Thanks Patti for your knowledge and giving us hopes since our first phone conversation, after we have been already been rejected and failed at two other local IVF clinics for being in our 40s. Thank you Dr Tortoriello and team for making me one of your excellent statistics - a healthy genetically tested embryo after one egg retrieval and live birth after one transfer! In addition, even with traveling out-of-state, financially it was still affordable compared to the fees of the local clinics.

Despite costly preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) testing, Sher Fertility NYC gave us a severely disabled child and then disappeared for 12 years. We entrusted everything to Sher Fertility NYC at 425 Fifth Avenue, enduring years of painful IVF cycles and spending tens of thousands of dollars. After our healthy son was born in 2010, we returned to try for a second child and paid a substantial amount for PGD testing to screen each embryo for genetic disorders. We preferred a girl but would have been delighted with either sex. We had only one female embryo. Despite our tears and fear of twins, Dr. T insisted on transferring two embryos, saying there was less than a 2% chance both would implant. Both implanted. Our twin son was born disabled. In 2015, he was diagnosed with CTNNB1 haploinsufficiency, causing severe cerebral palsy, inability to speak, and lifelong wheelchair dependence. This is exactly the type of genetic disorder their PGD testing was supposed to detect. Afterward, there was no follow-up or contact. For years, we repeatedly emailed Dr. Geoffrey Sher and the Manhattan office in desperation. We never received a response or even an apology. If you are considering Sher Fertility Solutions, be aware that this can happen, and if it does, they may disappear completely. We wish we had chosen another provider. I have Stage IV endometriosis and immune dysregulation, making my case far from straightforward. Before Sher, I received treatment at two other highly advertised "elite" fertility clinics. After several years of IVF and exhausting two insurance plans, I turned to SIRM and Dr. Tortoriello, and also saw his colleague Dr. Wang. Both were very thoughtful and knowledgeable, and I conceived my twins, who are now 5 years old. I will always be grateful to Dr. Tortoriello for helping me overcome the poor advice from previous doctors and identify the root of the problem. He and Dr. Wang listened to me, enabling me to have the children I desperately wanted.

Dr. T is an incredible person who works diligently to achieve good outcomes for his patients. He is very candid and does not make promises or offer false hope. This doctor is extremely unprofessional and has no bedside manner. He sent me for an MRI, and when I asked about the results, he emailed them to me. After reading them, I was confused because the findings were significant and potentially life-threatening. I received no call afterward to explain the results. When I confronted him, he said he was busy caring for patients all day. It felt as though he had no time or energy after sending devastating results without an explanation. If you are looking for a compassionate doctor, he is not for you.

Dr. T is wonderful—absolutely the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth doctor I have met. He is available in person and by email. He listens and treats his patients as people, not numbers. My husband and I consider ourselves fortunate to have worked with Dr. T throughout our long and sometimes desperate journey. We know that when we achieve our miracle, he will be almost as excited as we are. I am very grateful that he is my doctor and highly recommend him to anyone considering or currently on a fertility journey.
