Dr. Glenn Schattman, United States
Personal Statement
“My goal is to help patients build their families through personalized treatment—from the initial evaluation through whichever treatment path we choose, I am with them at every step. Patients at our center receive care tailored to their unique medical history and circumstances. Although we often see the most challenging cases, our pregnancy success rates offer a realistic opportunity for success.
Biography
With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Schattman is a renowned reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, a world-class surgeon, and a leader in assisted reproductive technology and fertility preservation.
Fertility Preservation
Women facing cancer treatment have an urgent need to preserve their fertility options. Women who are not facing cancer may also wish to preserve fertility because it naturally declines with age. Dr. Schattman has extensive expertise caring for patients considering egg or embryo freezing to preserve or extend fertility. Egg or embryo freezing is an option for women in a variety of circumstances, including those who may have difficulty conceiving after cancer treatment (oncofertility). Our center has years of experience with egg and embryo freezing—in fact, we are one of the country's pioneering centers—and we can confidently offer these treatment options to patients.
Reproductive Surgery
Dr. Schattman is a world-class reproductive surgeon and a leader in minimally invasive surgery. He was among the first gynecologic surgeons to perform robotic surgery to reverse tubal ligation and remove uterine fibroids. He is especially experienced in using advanced surgical methods to treat common causes of infertility, including blocked fallopian tubes, intrauterine adhesions, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts. In addition to infertility, Dr. Schattman uses minimally invasive techniques to treat gynecologic conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding and uterine anomalies.
Education and Experience
Dr. Schattman earned his bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, in 1983 and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, in 1987. He completed his OB/GYN residency at George Washington University Medical Center in 1991, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Weill Cornell Medical College/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 1993.
