Biography
Dr. Isaac Kligman is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and is an internationally recognized fertility specialist.
Dr. Kligman provides fertility preservation services for women who wish to freeze their eggs and become pregnant later in life. With advances in techniques such as oocyte vitrification, the procedure has become widely available and offers an option for addressing the effects of aging on the ovaries. He also treats a wide range of reproductive and infertility conditions. He uses advanced assisted reproductive technologies, including in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), to help patients conceive. He specializes in the minimally invasive procedures of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Through laparoscopy, he treats anatomical causes of infertility such as endometriosis, pelvic scar tissue, blocked fallopian tubes, and ovarian cysts. Through hysteroscopy, he removes polyps, fibroids, and scar tissue and corrects congenital abnormalities such as a uterine septum.
Dr. Kligman joined the Center for Reproductive Medicine in 1993 for fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility under Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, and became a full-time CRM faculty member after completing his fellowship in 1995. Before joining CRM, he completed a research fellowship in reproductive biology and endocrinology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 and an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 1992. Dr. Kligman earned his medical degree in 1981 and completed a residency at Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1987.
Dr. Kligman has given numerous presentations on reproductive medicine research and treatment to audiences in the United States, Japan, Europe, and South America. He has written and coauthored many textbook chapters and published dozens of articles in leading peer-reviewed medical journals. He also serves on the editorial boards of Fertility and Sterility and Reproducción Humana, the official journal of the Latin American Association of Reproductive Medicine (ALMER). Dr. Kligman is an active member of several professional associations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the New York Obstetrical Society.
Dr. Kligman has been listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America and Marquis Who’s Who in the World and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been named to New York Magazine’s Best Doctors and Castle & Connolly’s Top Doctors—New York Metro Area.
