Robert E. Anderson, MD, is a leader in reproductive medicine with more than 30 years of experience and dual board certification in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He has practiced in Orange County longer than any other board-certified reproductive endocrinologist.

In 1992, Dr. Anderson founded the Southern California Center for Reproductive Medicine, Orange County's first independent IVF center. He also established the Southern California Institute for Reproductive Sciences, pioneering advanced techniques such as assisted hatching, blastocyst culture, and transvaginal ultrasound-guided embryo transfer. His work achieved many regional firsts, including successful births using fresh and frozen blastocysts.

Dr. Anderson collaborated with stem-cell researchers to help develop stem-cell lines for federally funded research. He also advanced preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and continues to lead discussions on its responsible use.

An active member of leading organizations including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), Dr. Anderson has published award-winning research in leading peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at international conferences.

December 15 update—this entire clinic is wonderful! All the doctors, nurses, and staff are excellent! Dr. Royster is amazing! I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Royster for IVF. We underwent two rounds, and the first transfer implanted successfully. Stay focused and believe you will succeed! The photo shows weekend nurse Joan, who is wonderful. She is gentle and caring like a grandmother, and I was overjoyed when she told me I was pregnant! Other recommendations: Marisa Peer's book Trying to Get Pregnant (and Succeeding), acupuncture, and journaling or talking to your baby as if the baby were already here. I have heard people at other clinics say they see a different doctor at each appointment, but that was not my experience. Dr. Royster saw me every time except for one Sunday check. The clinic staff are very kind and genuinely care. Once, I contacted them with a question after hours, and Dr. Royster called me back in under 10 minutes. This place is truly wonderful.

I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Royster and the entire SCCRM team. Dr. Royster is knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and compassionate. He guided me through every step of the process and answered every question. Although he is always busy, I never felt rushed, and he took time to listen to all my concerns, no matter how small. The office staff and nurses were also outstanding—friendly, professional, and available whenever I needed them. I appreciated how responsive they were by phone, which made a stressful process easier to manage. I highly recommend Dr. Royster to anyone facing fertility concerns. He is not only a first-rate doctor but also a kind, understanding person who genuinely cares about his patients.

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster are miracle workers! Now that our journey has reached a happy conclusion, I want everyone to know how wonderful it was, all thanks to everyone at SCCRM. Effective planning and communication by the office and medical staff made the entire IVF and surrogacy process very straightforward. Although we sometimes felt stressed or afraid, everyone made us feel supported. I highly recommend SCCRM. Thank you, Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster, for making our dream of having a family a reality.

Dr. Royster is wonderful. He is innovative, attentive to detail, has an excellent bedside manner, and responds to every question with patience and kindness. After each milestone in our IVF process, he took time to call us, even on weekends or in the evening. I never had to wait for an answer or wonder how things were progressing. Joan Moody is also wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at SCCRM. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable, and their approach is innovative and unique, using cutting-edge science. You will be in good hands with Dr. Royster and his team.

For years, I moved between clinics and experienced countless heartbreaks and failed IVF attempts. Finally, with Dr. Royster at SCCRM, I found hope and genuine success. From my first visit, I knew I was in the right place. The clinic is in a beautiful, peaceful area, and the entire experience was unlike anything I had encountered before. Although I live in Florida, I travel to California for every procedure because it is absolutely worth it. After years of disappointment, my first IVF cycle at this clinic gave me my first child, and now my second cycle has resulted in my second pregnancy. Two children in two attempts. That says everything. Dr. Royster is not only highly skilled but also one of the most compassionate and genuine doctors I have ever met. He is patient, explains everything clearly, and truly cares about your outcome. We formed a friendship during this experience, and I am deeply grateful for everything he has done for me and my family. If you are considering in vitro fertilization (IVF), do not hesitate—Dr. Royster is the doctor for you. This clinic gave me the family I had always dreamed of.

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Royster are amazing. I heard many people say Dr. Anderson is not warm and friendly, but I found him humorous, practical, and dependable. He has extensive experience, so his manner is serious. Nurses Joyce and Krista are very kind and understanding. They are all excellent. Thanks to them, we have a son.

Dr. Royster is truly a top doctor. This was our second IVF cycle, so we had certain expectations, and the clinic fully met them. We greatly appreciated the high-quality care and attention to detail. We would return without hesitation and hope to come back again in the future!

Dr. Royster is amazing! He is very attentive, has an excellent bedside manner, and is patient. He knows what he is doing and makes you feel comfortable. Every procedure under his care was easy and painless, and everything went smoothly. So far, we have successfully completed one uterine transfer, and now we are trying for a second.

Molly at the front desk is extremely rude. Every time I call or visit while she is working, she is impatient with me. She never lets me finish speaking and acts condescending.

We were very disappointed with Dr. Royster’s service and treatment. We spent approximately $30,000 on one unsuccessful IVF cycle. About 10 eggs were retrieved, only one reached day 5, and it was aneuploid. In addition, we transferred 3 embryos, none of which survived thawing. After extensive research, we found the reason. My wife has diminished ovarian reserve, but the doctor did not account for this. He followed a standard protocol that prioritized quantity over quality. Please do your own research before undergoing IVF. This clinic uses a robotic approach to patient treatment.

I had a wonderful experience at SCCRM with Dr. Royster! I had a new-patient consultation that included a baseline ultrasound. I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout. Appointments like this can be nerve-racking, especially when you may learn something unexpected, but the entire process was calm and supportive. Dr. Royster answered all my questions and explained everything thoroughly in clear, understandable terms, even for someone without a medical background. His kind, calm manner was reassuring and helped me relax during the visit. We found this clinic through a cousin's recommendation and are very pleased with how they work. Our physician is Dr. Royster, who is calm and kind. He personally sees us at every visit unless we need a Sunday appointment. Even then, the female doctor on Sunday duty is very friendly and funny. From consultation through treatment, he has made the entire process easy to understand. The clinic staff are also friendly, and everyone does their best to help and provide excellent service. The finance team quickly checked our insurance coverage and does everything possible to bill insurance within the plan's limits because treatment can be expensive for patients. We are still undergoing treatment but hope to have good news soon. Regardless of the outcome, this clinic is far better than the one our insurer initially recommended. Be sure to do your research and tell your primary care physician which doctor you want so they can connect you with your preferred IVF specialist. Based on my experience so far, I highly recommend SCCRM!

I have tremendous respect for Dr. Royster and the entire SCCRM team and would recommend them to any friend or relative seeking fertility treatment. I underwent two IUIs and two IVF cycles, followed by one embryo transfer that resulted in pregnancy. During those more than ten months, I felt that a supportive team was always beside me and was as committed as I was to doing whatever it took to achieve our goal of building a family. Dr. Royster is knowledgeable and professional and, most importantly, very kind. He is genuinely compassionate and was extremely helpful throughout, from ultrasounds and phone calls to every decision. I felt fully supported and that each step was tailored to my specific circumstances. I also had a wonderful relationship with the nursing team—special thanks to Daisy, Doris, and Joyce. I would almost look forward to doing it all again if it meant working with them!

Infertility treatment is extremely time-consuming, expensive, and painful, but the SCCRM team made our journey to parenthood remarkably smooth. The staff were supportive, responsive, and kind. His entire team took incredible care of us. They were thorough, timely, and made every step of the process feel seamless, from managing our testing and treatments to coordinating the donor shipment. Our experience with Dr. Royster was excellent from start to finish. One of this clinic’s greatest strengths is how caring, patient, considerate, and supportive everyone is throughout IVF treatment. Dr. Royster is knowledgeable and compassionate and always explained each step carefully, giving us confidence in the treatment plan. He created a calm, reassuring atmosphere that helped us feel at ease during what could otherwise have been a very stressful process. Nurse Joan was also wonderful. She was attentive, approachable, and always made us feel heard and supported. Her warmth and professionalism greatly eased the natural anxiety of fertility treatment. The nursing staff, Krista and Anna, deserve special recognition for making the most difficult part of IVF manageable. They thoroughly explained all medications, injections, timing, and precautions, which was extremely helpful. When I returned home, I felt prepared and confident rather than overwhelmed. Their detailed guidance and patience in answering every question made the process much easier and less stressful. Thanks to this outstanding team, our first IVF cycle was successful. We are deeply grateful for their care and expertise.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Royce. Our initial appointment was the most informative visit I have had at this clinic. We previously lived in Texas, where I received infertility treatment. During our telehealth appointment with Dr. Royce, I quickly realized that my clinic in Texas had not disclosed some information that I considered important. Needless to say, my husband and I were shocked by some of what we learned during this consultation. Unfortunately, I gave this clinic three stars not because of the clinic, doctor, or staff, but because of the laboratory they use. We are fortunate that our insurance covers most infertility treatment costs. However, when I spoke with the clinic, they told me their laboratory was out of network for my insurance. Unfortunately, although my insurance provides generous infertility benefits, it does not cover out-of-network infertility services. When we received the laboratory bill, we had to make the difficult decision to transfer to another clinic whose laboratory fees were covered by our insurance. To be clear, the clinic itself is in network. I know most people have to pay out of pocket, but that was not our situation, so I wanted others to be aware. If not for the laboratory issue, we would have continued seeing Dr. Royce. He is an excellent doctor, and we are sorry that we could not continue under his care.

Dr. Anderson is responsible for the happy family we have today, and we cannot praise him highly enough. After multiple intrauterine inseminations (IUIs), egg retrievals, and embryo transfers, we now have a toddler and are expecting our second baby. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Anderson and his team. What distinguishes Dr. Anderson is his hands-on, personalized approach. He personally conducted about 95% of my visits, which is extremely rare in fertility medicine. He is experienced, strategic, and focused, and never relies on a one-size-fits-all protocol. Every decision is carefully considered and intended to maximize our chances of success. I have seen some people criticize Dr. Anderson's bedside manner, but that misses the point. He is not there to reassure you with empty words; he is there to achieve results. He is direct, respectful, and focused on outcomes. He does not sugarcoat matters, but he is consistent, available, and fully invested in treatment. During infertility care, I wanted someone who could succeed—someone steady, decisive, and purposeful—and Dr. Anderson is exactly that doctor. The nursing staff, billing department, and reception team were equally impressive: friendly, professional, and helpful. The clinic operates efficiently and purposefully. Communication is clear, scheduling is smooth, and the entire process is organized and manageable. I never waited more than 15 minutes to see the doctor! We confidently recommend Dr. Anderson and his team to anyone on an infertility journey. Do not waste your time and money elsewhere!

I just graduated from the clinic after becoming pregnant following one round of IVF under Dr. Anderson's care. I will always be grateful to him and his team. His clinic is open seven days a week and always responded promptly to my calls and questions. I was anxious throughout the process but never felt neglected. Dr. Anderson works quickly while remaining very thorough. I felt completely confident in his technical expertise, especially during egg retrieval and transfer. Dr. Roy also performed several ultrasounds and was very kind. Even though I did not see him regularly, he made time to address my questions and concerns. Joan, the weekend nurse, was wonderful and gave me tremendous encouragement when I needed it most. Finally, I thank the entire clinical team for being knowledgeable, thoughtful, and caring. IVF is stressful, and I am very grateful to have found a team that supported me through this difficult journey. Dr. Anderson is an excellent doctor! He is direct, does not sugarcoat anything, and will certainly not be your therapist—but he is a true winner. He will do everything possible to achieve the best outcome for you. I felt fully supported by him and his team throughout the process. He is proactive and never dismissive, which was exactly what I needed. My case was difficult, with low AMH and high FSH, and he did everything possible to obtain the best result. I ultimately retrieved six eggs, which was good considering my ovarian reserve and was not a reflection of any lack of skill on his part. This was my second egg retrieval, and I can confidently say that I highly recommend Dr. Anderson. My first retrieval was with Dr. Werlin, but unfortunately I did not feel the same support and care. With Dr. Anderson, I truly felt that he cared deeply about my retrieval results and was committed to giving me the best opportunity. Overall, he is an excellent doctor—honest, perceptive, and results-focused. I absolutely recommend him!

Dr. Anderson is very honest with every new patient. He explained in great detail the genetic issue we encountered with our first child. He performed testing and, instead of wasting our time and money, carefully explained our concerns. He did not sugarcoat anything, but he was always empathetic, clear, and kind. He could easily have made us spend a great deal of money only to receive the same answer we got at the first visit, but he did not. His work is about helping families, not making money, and you can feel that. If we need IVF in the future, we will return.

He is the best doctor. I had been unable to become pregnant for 10 years, and Dr. Anderson performed a successful IVF procedure for me. His entire staff is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dr. Anderson because he is knowledgeable and genuinely dedicated to his work.
