Medical records cannot be transferred. We completed the release forms and have an appointment tomorrow, but they still have not processed them. There are other questionable business practices. They clearly failed in their duties. We previously spent a lot with them and everything went well. We nearly missed their sudden closure.

We had difficulties at this clinic. We started IUI there several years ago without success, then chose IVF at CNY in Buffalo. It was not much farther and saved considerable money. We succeeded there. Two years later, we tried IVF again with Dr. Rios, and this experience was much better. CNY was more attentive and offered excellent advice and supplement recommendations. It did not feel like generic care for someone simply trying to conceive. Still, we saw improvements at UPMC this time.

Scammers! I was told the initial consultation cost $200. My card was charged $200 afterward, then they sent another $146 bill for the same consultation. The billing office uses automated responses, and my message has gone unanswered for a week. They eagerly called to schedule the consultation but now completely ignore me through the UPMC app and by phone.

The PCOS Center is completely unhelpful. It charges for visits without providing any advice. PCOS is frustrating enough; visiting UPMC only makes you feel worse, wastes your time, and charges you without service. Avoid the unhelpful PCOS care “experts” and go elsewhere.

Over the past six months, I have met many healthcare professionals at the Penn Hills and Hermitage clinics in Pennsylvania, including doctors, nurses, and sonographers. Every visit has been excellent. They listen carefully to concerns, and the doctors and nurses never seem rushed when answering questions. Communication is prompt, appointments are convenient, and waits are short at every stage. Even the financial team has provided detailed information throughout. So far, we have no complaints about Magee REI.

I waited four months for an appointment. I am 36 and time matters. My first appointment was canceled the day before and was difficult to reschedule. After some testing, my second appointment was also canceled the day before. They repeatedly called at 6:15 a.m. and woke me, costing me an hour and a half of sleep, which matters with two children. They do not respect patients’ time, send curt messages, and even the nurses speak like robots. I came here only because my insurance changed. I had received care elsewhere for years without a canceled appointment and was treated respectfully and politely. Their parking is also inadequate, forcing visitors to leave an extra half hour early.

The staff here mean well, but the overall experience was very poor. It is almost impossible to speak with an actual doctor, and the clinicians at most appointments seem unable or unauthorized to answer medical questions. Treatment plans are also completely inflexible. I strongly recommend avoiding Magee Hospital and going directly to a private suburban clinic.

❌Absolutely terrible experience! Dr. Esteves—stay away!!! I booked months in advance, only for the appointment to be canceled two days beforehand without even an apology. I later saw another doctor, who immediately asked why some basic, essential tests had not been done. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) simply did not care. After I told the nurse, she immediately sent me their “recommended” lab order and supplement list. They do not take their work seriously! A waste of time. The only consistent thing about this clinic is that they send bills.

Absolutely terrible. They claim they will “provide medical care” while making you wait months and delaying your future. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's (UPMC) so-called “life-changing medicine” is awful.

Many negative reviews are several years old, so I want to share my recent experience at Penn Hills Fertility and Reproductive Center. Prospective patients are likely facing a difficult, overwhelming fertility journey. This center is a caring partner as you explore options. Another major advantage is receiving care in Penn Hills without traveling downtown to Magee Hospital. Every staff member is kind, thoughtful, helpful, and knowledgeable. They take time to communicate, keep you comfortable, and explain everything promptly. Communication is excellent. Because the clinic is busy, leave a message if no one answers; they return calls quickly. New patients may wait weeks or months to establish care, but it is worth the wait!

This clinic is excellent and I recommend it. I had an in vitro procedure with good results and now have a beautiful daughter. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had a wonderful experience here.

We had an excellent experience here. The staff were attentive, there was almost no wait, and parking was convenient. I highly recommend this center for your fertility needs.

As of 2026/3, I have to say that things have not improved much, and I completely agree with all the negative reviews. For more distressing patient experiences, visit Pittsburgh’s Reddit page (r/Pittsburgh) and search for the post titled “Reproductive Endocrinologist Recommendations - UPMC.” You will understand what I mean. Stay far away from this clinic to avoid unnecessary trouble during the sensitive process of infertility treatment. Many of their doctors have less than 5 years of experience, which says enough about their staff turnover.

Without insurance, it is nearly impossible to ask how much an endocrinology visit costs. I called many times for pricing. They specifically said it would be easier if I had a doctor’s name, but I have not seen any doctor yet.

Dr. Sanfilippo is a good doctor, but you must call personally for your results and make sure you have a treatment plan. I did not receive accurate treatment-plan information. When I called to request follow-up, they gave me test results from several weeks earlier, which I also had to call to obtain, but provided no further treatment instructions. When I called again, they could not treat me and told me to follow up with my PCP for blood sugar management. This came after I had discussed next treatment steps with the doctor and nurse. If you do not obtain your own information from this office, you will be left confused or excluded. Ultimately, I was dissatisfied with the clinic’s and doctor’s overall treatment, follow-up, information, and processes.

I believe he is an excellent and caring doctor. However, his answers can be vague, and you must call to find out what is happening. I had an unsuccessful tubal reversal, and his only recommendation was IVF.

He saved my life! It has been 15 years, and I need him again! I will be there Monday morning. I will tell you then!
