Keyla is an outstanding coordinator, and Dr. Evans-Hoeker and the rest of her team are responsive, helpful, and informative!

Every interaction I have had at SGF Roanoke, from the beginning until now, has been amazing. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have found such a wonderful place filled with exceptional people. They are professional, thoughtful, and kind. No amount of gratitude could repay everything they have done for me.

I really like their virtual visits. I live in an area of southwest Virginia where you must travel to Tennessee or Roanoke for fertility care. Dr. Hoeker is wonderful; I have had only one appointment with her. She is clearly determined and will create a plan to ensure you receive the best care. Before this clinic, I attended one that felt very transactional and had no doctor-patient relationship, so I decided to switch. I gave 3 stars because communication with my care coordinator was extremely poor. I had a virtual visit two weeks ago, and she was supposed to call the same day with my lab paperwork but did not call until two days later. The doctor wanted to perform an endometrial biopsy before treatment as a precaution because I have PCOS, irregular periods, and sometimes go long periods without menstruating. During fertility treatment, it is easy to become impatient; you want everything completed promptly and do not want your care team to delay. First, I had to ask Labcore to send me the results, and then I emailed them as instructed. If I do not have a menstrual cycle, they cannot schedule from cycle day one and must rely on blood tests for timing. I called several times, and they repeatedly said they would respond but did not. I messaged her, and the system shows when your message is opened, but she did not even open mine. This is becoming ridiculous because if blood tests are being used to determine the outcome, waiting a week or longer will obviously change some results. Everyone seems to say the doctors and staff are wonderful—if you can get them to respond. When I submitted a request for appointment information, they flooded my phone with calls, but when it was time to act, they delayed. I live an hour and a half away and do not mind driving, but I need advance notice to arrange time off work, so this is frustrating. If Keyla has too many patients and is too busy, assign another coordinator. If she has too many patients to check in promptly, respond or provide updates quickly, or even answer a single message, then find someone who can schedule me.

We feel very fortunate that we chose Shady Grove to begin our fertility journey. It is a journey no one expects to experience, but at Shady Grove, my husband and I met the kindest, most caring staff. Special thanks to Amy Young! Starting each morning with her always brought a smile to my face, even while she was inserting a needle into my arm 😅. I recommend Shady Grove to anyone seeking professional fertility guidance and help!

We highly recommend Shady Grove Fertility. Our journey involved many unexpected, stressful circumstances unrelated to the clinic, and their care made all the difference. Natalie worked tirelessly through delays to ensure our medications arrived on time. Amy was supportive, kind, and genuinely caring, while Kim promptly answered portal messages and calls. Everyone was compassionate and helpful, and we are deeply grateful.

I have felt wonderful throughout my journey at Shady Grove Fertility. Nurse Terry patiently guided and reassured me at every step. Toni’s skill made ultrasounds comfortable, and Amy was the friendliest and best phlebotomist I have met. The Virginia physician team was excellent. Dr. Evans-Hooker thoroughly explained the process and kept me informed without overwhelming me. My journey continues, and they have consistently done an excellent job.

I had previously gone to another clinic, but the treatment did not work well and I felt something had been missed, so I came to Shady Grove for a second opinion. Shady Grove's testing was very thorough and ultimately identified the cause! Seeing Amy's bright smile early each morning always lifted my spirits!

On 12/30/25 I went into SGF for a Saline Sonogram. My provider Dr. Hoeker explained that there was a possibility for spotting/bleeding after this procedure and I understood that. Of course I began to spot on 12/30 but it continued to get super heavy. I contacted the staff multiple times Expressing my concerns. I was messaged back on 1/5/26 stating that cramping and Bleeding after a procedure was “normal” and if I was soaking a pad to be concerned. By 1/9/26 I was pouring blood, so bad to the point it was leaking on the carpet. I had to make an ER visit. I get a message back on 1/12/26 asking if I was okay and that they heard that I had “emergency surgery” which is the completely incorrect. I replied immediately to express that and still haven’t heard anything back. Today is 01/16/26 and still BLEEDING. It’s been 17 straight days of bleeding . That’s not normal. I haven’t got one single call, not an offer to come in and be checked, no report on lab results that I know have already came in. NOTHING. It’s a shame because I adore Dr.Hoeker. I loved her when she was at Carilion, she helped me with my daughter but I will never go back here! Ever! It’s completely unacceptable to leave a patient hanging for (now 17 days) + an ER visit. I will just have to move my fertility journey elsewhere. It makes me super sad. I’ve known Dr.H for YEARS but I’m done.

We started seeing Dr. Evans-Hoeker last year and took a break between IUIs and IVF. We just had a very successful first retrieval and I credit that to her knowledge, as well as the knowledge of her staff. The ladies at this office are magnificent and I always enjoy seeing them - even on the tough days. Cannot recommend SGF enough

I am very impressed with Emily. I finally ovulated and am still praying for our little miracle baby as we continue our journey with Emily and her CARILION team. I am very happy 😀 She is an excellent specialist.

She may be an excellent fertility doctor, but not for women experiencing surgical menopause who need hormones and help.

Does anyone know her email address? Is there any way I can find it?

Dr. Evans-Hoeker is simply the best. She is highly knowledgeable and current on the latest best practices. Her heart is in her work, and it shows at every visit. I trusted her during my infertility journey, and she and her team stayed by my side. Thank you, Dr. E-H!!

She is a good doctor, but the financial side of her practice is terrible. I have not visited their clinic for some time, yet I still receive bills from them and Labcorp that somehow were not included in the $1,200 I paid each cycle. When I call the finance department, they first say the bill was a mistake, but the bills keep coming, and then I am told that I do owe them money. At this point, continuing to deal with the financial trouble is not worthwhile.
