Dr. Baker earned a Bachelor's degree in Genetics from Texas A&M University and a PhD in Reproductive Biology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He further honed his skills through intensive embryology training in Florida, where he gained a deep understanding of laboratory operations and optimized his technical proficiency.

As a certified Technical Supervisor in Embryology and High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director by the American Board of Bioanalysts, Dr. Baker upholds the highest standards in reproductive medicine. He has served as the President of the Colorado Association of Reproductive Technologists (CART), a regional professional organization committed to advancing fertility treatment across the state.

Currently, Dr. Baker serves as the laboratory director for Aspire Dallas, Aspire San Antonio, and Pacific Fertility Center. He is a key leader within Inception Fertility's laboratory steering committee and has dedicated significant effort towards the optimization of SART data reporting and the implementation of electronic laboratory witnessing across the network.

    Our experience with Aspire was not good. No one helped or guided us through our journey; we always had to pursue them for answers. For the past two months, we experienced a lack of care and communication. They also seem to have high turnover among medical coordinators. Not good.

    Disappointing. As a new patient, I was trying to make this work. They canceled my appointment the day before and asked whether I wanted to reschedule. I am a teacher and had already taken that day off. No, I cannot randomly choose another day. I will not return.

    My wife and I had a terrible experience with Aspire's financial department. After spending over £6 without success, we decided to stop. We had applied for a loan, and before my wife even became pregnant they had already taken 15 grand from LendingClub. We told them we did not want to continue, and they said they would not return the funds until we paid an outstanding balance of 3k. We paid it, and they said the money would be returned within three days, but it has now been over 3 months. I have received repeated calls from LendingClub and have kept calling Aspire to return the money because we no longer want to proceed. For a company with a close working relationship with LendingClub, this has been an ongoing nightmare. I do not understand how Aspire can be so dishonest and unprofessional toward a client who has paid and simply wants to cancel the transaction and have the funds returned to LendingClub. This is a terrible example of a company that does not care about people and has appallingly dishonest professional ethics. We will never use them again.

    I am extremely disappointed by this company's unethical and misleading financial practices. I paid the full cost of services in advance, but six months later they suddenly demanded an additional $4,000 and threatened to stop services if I did not pay. Initially, they assured me that insurance did not cover these services. Now they ask whether I had prior insurance, which they previously claimed would not help and marked as “self-pay.” Their inconsistent and deceptive practices are unacceptable and show a complete lack of professionalism and integrity. I strongly advise others to avoid this business at all costs.

    I transferred from Fertility Center of San Antonio to Aspire. Although FCSA was fine, Aspire made me feel like a real patient rather than a number. I had many questions and appreciated that my nurse and doctor took time to answer them. The only area for improvement is the phone system. Several times I missed a call and received a voicemail asking me to call back, but I could never reach anyone unless I used the new-patient line. I felt bad doing that, but it was the only option. The woman who connected my call said it was fine and that others had to do the same. I was glad they were willing to help. The same thing happened when I was running late. I was stuck in traffic and wanted to tell them I would be about 5-10 minutes late because of congestion on Highway 1604. I could not reach anyone through the current-patient line, so I had to call the new-patient line and ask them to notify my doctor.

    First, I would recommend Dr. Koone to everyone a million times over! I spent nearly a wonderful year with her. She was very patient throughout treatment and explained every process in detail. She always made sure we felt comfortable with the treatment she offered. She was there when I needed to cry and when I faced difficulties, and she always assured me that we would succeed. She and her team are the best and will always have a special place in our hearts. She is truly wonderful, and we will miss her very much. Our little miracle is on the way!!

    I highly recommend Aspire Fertility Center. They have been very kind and welcoming to both my husband and me. I have had various tests here, including lab work and a saline ultrasound, to assess our situation. We have been trying to conceive for five years and finally decided to try intrauterine insemination (IUI). Dr. Cheryle is wonderful, and she and her entire team, including Erika, made us feel comfortable and helped whenever I was nervous or anxious. They truly go out of their way to help. Although my first IUI was unsuccessful, I will soon try a second time. If you are looking for a good fertility center, consider Aspire Fertility Center ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Please pray for me 🙏, and may my testimony come to pass in Jesus' name, amen.     After going from doctor to doctor and specialist to specialist, most of whom dismissed my recurring reproductive health problems, seeing Dr. Brown was a tremendous relief. She listened carefully to my medical history and current symptoms and showed great compassion and understanding before discussing next steps in treatment. I left the office feeling hopeful for the first time in a long while. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I genuinely felt included and accepted.

    I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) at 18. After 11 years with my husband without becoming pregnant, we decided to seek help from Dr. Brown. She quickly began investigating the cause of our infertility, which was PCOS, as expected. After one medication cycle, one ovulation trigger shot, and Dr. Brown’s expert guidance, we conceived on our first cycle! I know not every couple is this fortunate, but if you are considering your next step, Dr. Brown and her team are an excellent choice!

    Their finance department is extremely corrupt and fraudulent. They will find ways to charge you without reason or evidence. When you ask to see the bill, they will not provide it. This organization needs to be shut down.

    Very disappointing experience with this company. They billed us for egg storage even though we never authorized it. Of all the eggs, only one was healthy and the other two were still defective. They asked to keep them free for only 60 days, in case something happened to the main one, and then stop storage after 60 days. Our child died, and they know it, yet months later they continued sending bills. We now know they stored them beyond 60 days without our consent. Despite our emails asking for proof of consent for this fraudulent claim, they did not provide any and instead sent us to collections, which is extremely frustrating.     Very clean, with excellent staff and a short wait. The doctor developed a plan, kept me informed at every step, and added options. They made me comfortable with the entire process of trying to conceive. Dr. Amy Brown is amazing and has a wonderful presence that put me at ease.     I like Dr. Failor and highly recommend any physician at Aspire's San Antonio office. She is an excellent, highly trained reproductive endocrinologist. I posted about billing issues earlier this year, but Aspire has corrected them. From the feedback, you can see that the staff have worked to acknowledge this at checkout and in every interaction.

    I will begin by saying that my first IVF clinic was an absolute nightmare. After that experience, I swore I would never undergo IVF again. It took four years, but we finally decided to try once more. This time I read many reviews and researched each clinic's success rates. From our first visit to Aspire, I could tell it was different. Patients returned with newborns to greet the staff, and everyone smiled and talked. I never saw anything like that during roughly 1.5 years at my first clinic. Dr. Baltazar immediately put us at ease. At our second visit, she looked up from her computer and greeted us by name when she saw us being shown to a room. At the previous clinic, the doctor would hurry past, avoiding eye contact or conversation whenever possible. Dr. B helped me become pregnant within about 1 month of treatment at Aspire, compared with around 1.5 years at my previous clinic. That pregnancy ended in miscarriage, which was not the clinic's fault. We waited several months before trying again, and Dr. B's plan succeeded once more. Our due date is only 2 months away. Dr. B performed every ultrasound, and I could ask her questions at every visit. My former clinic allowed me to speak with the doctor only at the initial appointment and on embryo-transfer day; otherwise, I would be placed in a room and usually wait more than an hour until someone was available. Dr. B was always busy but took time to answer every question carefully and never rushed out. She included me in the care plan. When I expressed how afraid I was of injections this time, she changed the plan so I could try another route. She ordered far fewer blood draws than my last clinic, and the phlebotomist never missed. Only two nurses, Amy and Michelle, worked with me, and both were wonderful. I could message them through the portal, and they always responded the same day. At my former clinic, I saw a different nurse every time, and no one knew where I was in the schedule, causing countless errors and tremendous stress. Aspire accepted my fertility insurance, so we paid only a fraction of what the first clinic charged. IVF is not enjoyable, but Dr. Baltazar and her staff made it as easy as possible. I only wish we had gone to her first.

    We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Browne and NP Koone. Nurse Christine was also very helpful. We were IVF transfer patients from TCF, and being seen by such a caring and knowledgeable team truly changed our lives. Thank you for helping us build our family.     This is a journey that is not yet over. I met Dr. Knudson a few years ago. Although my laboratory and scan results were good enough to begin treatment at the time, I had to take a break because wedding planning and living a healthy lifestyle kept me busy. Fast-forward to this year: I was ready to begin treatment, so I had a new consultation with the doctor and repeated the laboratory work. Some things had changed, and we needed a new plan for how I could conceive. I completely trust my doctor to guide me in the right direction. We just completed our first fertility treatment, and it was a wonderful experience. Now I must wait to see whether all the effort will result in a baby. To anyone undergoing fertility treatment: be kind to yourself, be patient, and have a good support system. Trust that your doctor has your best interests at heart. I am grateful that I can receive treatment and have options. My journey is not over; it is only beginning. Thank you to my doctor for always making me feel comfortable.     Dr. Brown was recommended by a family member, and I am so glad I decided to see her! I had struggled with uterine fibroids for years. Four doctors told me they would not remove them, and I remained in pain while my partner and I tried to conceive for years. Within 3 months of meeting her, she had performed surgery and removed the fibroids. After surgery, I had my first menstrual cycle, and I could not believe I had endured so much pain for so long without a doctor listening to me. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Brown for helping me!

    The IVF and surrogacy journey is not easy. Beyond the financial concerns, you must feel confident that you are making the right decisions. We evaluated several clinics and soon learned that not all follow FDA guidelines. After our first call to Aspire, it quickly became clear that they were among the best and most caring.     I came here for a second opinion. The doctor was very cold, neither welcoming nor friendly. She basically said my chances after miscarriage were low, there was nothing they could do, and because we had already been trying for 8 months, there was no real hope. It was ridiculous. She said I had only a 10% to 15% chance of becoming pregnant on my own. I went to another clinic and did not need IVF. I am now 33 weeks pregnant. This is not the right kind of doctor for someone trying to conceive. I do not recommend her. On top of that, their fees are outrageous given their success rates.

They always worked around my schedule, ensuring that the entire process was smooth and convenient. What impressed me most was their clear communication.     I wasted so much time here. When I arrived, they did not have my insurance information, so I gave it to them. They never told me whether my insurance covered the visit, so I assumed it did because they said nothing. Only after the appointment did they tell me they did not accept my insurance. They had many opportunities to tell me but waited until the end. They could simply have said, "We do not accept your insurance, but you can still be seen." Months later, they keep sending me bills. I do not mind paying and could even have paid on the spot, but the problem is that they did not inform me as the patient until after the visit. I feel deceived. If you visit or plan to visit this clinic, check your bank statements and proactively ask the front desk about your insurance, which they should tell you about without being asked. That way they cannot try to take advantage of you.

    This clinic is terrible for Hispanic women, and I strongly advise against it. My pregnancy failed because they transferred my embryo after culturing it for only one day. An embryo needs six days to develop to the fetal stage before transfer. This clinic is a complete scam. If anyone else experienced this, contact me here, review your records, and file a lawsuit, because this cannot continue happening to other women who want to become mothers. The nurse assigned to me was very incompetent and kept saying I did not become pregnant because I was too old. I remember she had her own second treatment at age 41 and became pregnant, so she was also too old. Her name was Erica, and this happened in October 2025. Do not let them transfer your embryo this early. Watch videos and educate yourself before starting treatment at this clinic that steals your dreams. This clinic will destroy your dream of becoming a mother.

    I was excited to meet them and begin my family-building journey, but they canceled my appointment and texted an unfamiliar number I had never verified. Make sure they have your own cell number, or you will not receive notice that an appointment you waited over a month for was canceled. When you contact the office manager, they only say, “We are sorry; we can schedule another appointment.” You must visit several websites to complete forms. If they assume you have information you were never given, you will never receive it. You take time off work and then have to call to learn they canceled your appointment. If they cannot manage something as simple as forms, I would never entrust my body to them. You feel like a number on an assembly line, which is unfortunate given how much money they make from each person, but that is the reality.

    This clinic is driven by money and does not care about patients. My appointment was only a 15-minute consultation with a nurse practitioner (NP), who mentioned some other fertility resources. I never heard from her again, but the clinic sent me a $400 bill. I have no insurance. I only spoke briefly with the NP; there were no tests and no medical history was taken. Do not go to this clinic! The information she gave me felt like something AI could have provided.

    The receptionist and the woman who drew my blood were the only people who made me feel welcome. They spoke with me rather than down to me and treated me like a person. The doctor and her nurse were nice, but they did not listen. It felt as though they were simply telling me what to do instead of hearing why I was there. I never had a chance to explain my actual reason for coming. The doctor immediately began prescribing medication and recommending things. They never asked why I was there or whether I agreed with what they were telling me. Overall, it was a poor experience, and I will not return.

    I have to say this place feels extremely money-driven. My first appointment with the doctor was a 20-minute virtual visit, and I was billed $1,400. I do not understand what justified that charge. Later, I transferred to another clinic, but before doing so, I had already paid a surgery deposit to them. Since then, I have not received any response regarding when I will get my surgery deposit refunded. All the message I send it out and got ignored.

    I love this place! Everyone is thoughtful and kind. It is the best IVF and IUI clinic you will find, and we have visited many clinics in Southern California and San Antonio. We recommend Aspire without hesitation. From the moment you enter until the moment you leave, the experience is unmatched. The people are what make this clinic exceptional. My friends have also had children with different doctors here and highly recommend Aspire. My doctor is Dr. Knudtson, and she is wonderful.

    I was with this clinic for three years, starting with IUI and moving to IVF after my third miscarriage. My first transfer succeeded, and the clinical staff were always warm and friendly. But the billing department was terrible. Three times they told me the procedure was covered and gave me a list of exclusions. I have complete written records showing the representatives contacted, verified dates and times, my member policy/group/ID, and the ICD and CPT codes confirming coverage. Yet seven months into pregnancy I received a bill for a remaining balance that the clinic had repeatedly said was covered. This is negligence. I repeatedly told billing that several denied claims needed to be resubmitted with the correct codes so my insurer would pay. Portal messages went unanswered, so I had to call to confirm they would resubmit corrected claims. The billing and coding problems have been the worst part of this experience. My insurer now will not pay a bill despite the clinic initially giving me a list of my plan's coverage and exclusions. Had I known their information was wrong, I would have considered other options before IVF. I accept that I had responsibilities too, but I trusted the clinic to handle the insurance process. I do not know which CPT and ICD codes they use—am I expected to do their job? Now I must correct their errors myself. I have just given birth, am recovering from years of fertility treatment and hormones, and lost my job in the process. Thank you to the clinic for helping me have my baby, but the billing department is deeply disappointing.

Dr. Amy Brown was skilled and kind, and the entire clinical and support team cared for me. They clearly explained what would happen next and patiently answered all our questions.     I recently visited Aspire Fertility in San Antonio. I had been to another clinic but felt the test results were not right, so I sought a second opinion and am very glad I did. During the consultation, Dr. Balthazar carefully reviewed my records and listened to my fertility journey. She then arranged an examination with Dr. Kostroun, which showed that the initial diagnosis from the first clinic was inaccurate. A fertility journey is never easy. Previous appointments left me confused, overwhelmed, and discouraged, but this experience was completely different. The doctors explained everything thoroughly, I felt heard, and for the first time in a long while I left with clarity, answers, and even a smile. I will soon schedule surgery and feel hopeful about the future. I sincerely appreciate the excellent care, compassion, and professional guidance.

    My recent visit left me with mixed feelings. Fertility treatment is a deeply sensitive journey, and many patients already carry considerable emotional, physical, and financial stress before entering the clinic. For that reason, small details in communication and the patient experience can have a major impact. Clinically, the clinic appeared organized and efficiently busy, but personally I did not feel that I received much individualized attention. Even though the test results were reassuring, the overall experience felt more administrative than supportive, which was especially disappointing at a facility focused on fertility care. As a self-pay patient, I also found the clinic’s pricing structure difficult to understand. The consultation fee alone was much higher than at other places I had researched, and the overall treatment costs were also substantially higher than at many other clinics. Fertility treatment already places patients under enormous emotional strain, so financial transparency and flexibility are essential for those going through it. I sincerely hope clinics continue working to balance efficiency with compassionate care, because patients seeking fertility treatment are often experiencing one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

    I am a first-time IVF patient who values collaborative, transparent care and wants to participate in decisions about my own body. Aspire Fertility San Antonio is efficient and organized, with a strong support team that includes nursing, embryology, and financial staff. However, my experience with physician communication and decision-making was disappointing. During my first stimulation cycle, the clinic changed my treatment plan without discussing alternatives, despite my clearly stated desire for shared decision-making. After egg retrieval, I was unable to schedule a follow-up for several weeks, leaving me without guidance on next steps even though I was ready to continue treatment. I was also unexpectedly informed of my genetic testing results while out of town, without any preparation. When I raised these concerns, the physician acknowledged the delay but explained that follow-ups occur only after PGT-A results are available—a fixed policy that had not been communicated in advance. Because I still valued the broader team, I later tried to switch physicians within the clinic and continue treatment. After repeated follow-up, I was told that this was not allowed. This policy had not previously been disclosed and caused further lost time in an already time-sensitive process. Overall, the clinic operates efficiently, but its model felt directive rather than collaborative. If you value participation in decisions and clear, timely communication, this clinic may not be the right fit.

    I am extremely disappointed with this company. They sent us bills for egg storage that we never authorized in the first place. Months later, they continue sending bills, and we have only now learned that they performed this service without our consent.

    To say the least, I am so disappointed. My husband and I have both been looking to come back here to inquire about IVF treatments. I called today around 2:15/2:30 and a very unfriendly lady answered the phone, I told her my first name and asked to schedule an appointment to get more information about IVF treatments and, again, general questions. The only thing she responded with is “birth date” after asking twice, she said “oh, that’s not that last name you gave me but okay..” I said I never gave you my last name but okay? She then further inquired about my insurance (which I didn’t have last time I came, which, why is that an issue) I told her I have insurance now and all I want to do is schedule an appointment to get more information and to talk to someone. She responded with “well, I can’t schedule an appointment for you without your insurance” I told her I understand but I just want more information about the process at which point I just wanted to hang up because her whole tone was so uncomfortable and made me not even want to come back here. I have NEVER felt so embarrassed, disgusting and upset to have been talked to in this condescending way as if “not having insurance and paying out of pocket” is not a thing??? In such a sensitive matter and personal situation at that, for someone to be SO condescending and just rude to say the least, we will NEVER recommend or come back to this place. Thank you for the “wonderful and kind” front desk lady today that made us NEVER want to come to this place again.

    We came in after a failed Clomid cycle and were able to see Dr. Failor. She listened and explained her concerns. We completed fertility testing, and when everything came back normal except for my PCOS, she gave us an opportunity to try timed intercourse. We were able to conceive with letrozole! We had given up hope of adding another child to our family. She listened when we said we did not want IVF or IUI and preferred to try medication. She listens to her patients and gives them advice and the best treatment options. We were fortunate to use timed intercourse, but all testing had to be normal first. She went above and beyond for us. Thank you!

    HSG (hysterosalpingogram)—0 pain I am extremely grateful to this practice and for everything they do for patients. If I could do it again, I would advise not using the restroom before going to the hospital because they will ask you to provide a urine sample in a cup. It was excellent, and I am truly happy. I took 4 ibuprofen tablets, 2 Tylenol tablets, and 3 OLLY anti-anxiety gummies. I brought sanitary pads, wipes, antibacterial wipes, and a heat pack for after the procedure. I hope my experience helps others💜. Everyone's experience is different, and you can do it too.
