Dr. Mohamed F Mitwally, United States
Dr. Mitwally is a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). He is triple-certified by the American Board of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and American Board of Bioanalysis. He is internationally known for developing a new infertility treatment using the aromatase inhibitor letrozole and holds several patents for its use in infertility and other reproductive conditions. In 2019, ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) selected Dr. Mitwally’s research on letrozole in fertility treatment as one of 25 landmark papers from the previous 75 years. Originally from Egypt, Dr. Mitwally operates Mitwally Fertility Clinic with his wife and four sons, with offices in San Antonio, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Mitwally completed medical school in Egypt in 1990 at the top of his class. After an obstetrics and gynecology residency, he moved to the United States in 1997 and completed another obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University at Buffalo in New York. He completed four fellowships in reproductive sciences, reproductive genetics, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility at West Virginia University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Toronto, and Wayne State University. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and reviews for several scientific journals. His honors include awards from the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Jerome J. Hoffman Award from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS) Outstanding Paper Award, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation President’s Presenter Award. Dr. Mitwally has been invited to speak at scientific meetings in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, Switzerland, India, and other countries. His expertise includes assisted reproduction (IVF), PCOS, pelvic pain and endometriosis, fertility preservation for patients with cancer, and reproductive genetics.
