Dr. Tran graduated first in his medical school class, then completed his OB/GYN residency and reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

After fellowship, Dr. Tran joined UCSF as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Principal Investigator at the Center for Regenerative Medicine, becoming a leading clinical researcher in ovarian insufficiency, endometriosis, and stem-cell research. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.


An award-winning physician-scientist with numerous grants, publications, and discoveries, Dr. Tran's clinical research interests include premature ovarian insufficiency, endometriosis, and azoospermia. He was the first to isolate primordial germ cells from patients with germ-cell failure to explore potential treatments. He also holds a first-of-its-kind patent for treating male infertility with spermatogonial stem cells, recognized with the 2015 Society for Male Reproduction and Urology Scholar Award and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Scientific Paper Award.

Unless you are healthy, have no prior medical history, and are willing to let recent graduates practice drawing blood, this may not be the place for you. It is also expensive, and reaching anyone by phone is nearly impossible. All communication is through their app, so when you have questions or concerns, you are left hoping for a response. They are not easy to contact. Learn to advocate for yourself. I did not give one star because the initial onboarding process was good. The medications are expensive, but insurance made them easy to obtain, so you need coverage. My egg retrieval was the most painful experience of my life, and post-procedure communication and support were almost nonexistent. My severe pain, which felt like my femoral head was shattered, was dismissed with, 'Your ovaries are the size of grapefruits, so you will be in pain.' I understand, but what can I do? Please help me. My husband could not sit beside me because even slight movement hurt, and I could not walk. I understand these were effects of my procedure. I only wanted communication, acknowledgment of how I felt, and perhaps a little kindness and compassion.

My experience at Spring was exceptionally positive. The team communicated well and was empathetic, upbeat, and patient. The app made communication fast and efficient. Multiple San Francisco locations made early-morning monitoring easy and convenient. They went above and beyond at every step. For example, they sent me flowers during the week of my FET, and I could not stop crying. They turned a distressing, challenging journey into one filled with hope and a clear plan. I am extremely grateful and would recommend them to everyone!

We asked them not to disclose the baby's sex, but they told us twice, once in writing and once verbally. If they cannot manage something so simple, how can we trust them with anything else? They also do not allow both intended parents to be present, even during preparation, unlike RMA, which is very frustrating. I complained about both issues and was told I could speak with a supervisor, but no one appeared after 20 minutes, so I left.

I highly recommend Dr. Zore. As a patient over 40, I came to her hopeful but uncertain about the road ahead. Dr. Zore patiently explained every approach and option, enabling me to make an informed decision based on my circumstances and family. Her modified natural-cycle protocol ultimately helped me conceive two babies. I also want to highlight her team's exceptional organization throughout the process. They gave us a detailed schedule clearly listing the medications and timing for each frozen embryo transfer. This careful planning gave my partner and me tremendous peace of mind during what could have been a stressful time. Incompetent staff - the doctors may be experienced, but most of the time you're dealing with the staff members and they are just not competent or remotely helpful. Often results in a lot of frustration. It makes us feel their job is to make our lives harder. And consider the money we’re spending with them! We've worked with 4 fertility clinics in SF now, this is by far the worst! Save your money and frustration and go somewhere else

This is a great company that does excellent work helping people build families in difficult circumstances. My only complaint is their inflated embryo storage prices. Our fee rose from $300 to $475 per year, with virtually no way to appeal or choose another option. It increased by more than $75 last year alone, with no reasonable explanation. Such steep increases for something as personal as embryo storage are unacceptable when we have no alternative. This is classic private-equity-style price gouging, and applying it to embryo storage is sickening. At best it is questionable; at worst it is unethical.

At 37, newly single and burdened by San Francisco rent and costly bad dates, I decided to freeze my eggs at Spring Fertility. After all, I may not have found a husband, but I had met about 47 men who "were not looking for anything serious right now." So I decided to take control of the one thing in my life that would not let me down. I expected a stressful medical process. Instead, I found a clinic that communicated better than most of the people I had dated. Appointments were well organized, questions were answered, and calls were returned promptly. No one sent mixed messages or disappeared for three days, only to return and say, "Sorry, I've been so busy lately." Special thanks to Dr. Zore, who was knowledgeable and reassuring and somehow made this complicated process feel entirely manageable. Every interaction left me informed and confident rather than overwhelmed. Michelle, the anesthesiologist, was exactly the person I wanted caring for me on retrieval day: kind, calm, funny, and reassuring. I arrived bloated and uncomfortable and had even started questioning my life choices. Within minutes, I went from an anxious patient to peacefully unconscious. It was an impressive skill. One moment we were talking, and the next I was waking up from what may have been my best sleep in years. The entire process was unexpectedly easy. The injections were not as frightening as I had imagined, the staff were wonderful, and the side effects were minimal. As a healthcare professional, I can confidently say that Spring Fertility has an excellent reputation among healthcare workers, including many physicians and nurses at UCSF. That was one reason I chose them. For anyone still unsure: • "It is too expensive." (Think less than 1 ten thousand dollars, excluding medication costs.) — It was actually more affordable than many other clinics I researched. • "I cannot take time off work." — I work full time, and they accommodated my schedule. • "I will do it later." — The younger you are when you freeze your eggs, the better. My only regret is not doing it sooner. • "The medication side effects will be terrible." — For me, it was only mild bloating. Most importantly, remember that this is a medical procedure. Do your research, ask plenty of questions, and stay actively involved in your treatment. The Spring Fertility team did an excellent job explaining everything patiently and answering every question I asked. Thank you to Dr. Zore, Michelle, and the entire Spring Fertility team for making what could have been a daunting process unexpectedly smooth, supportive, and even enjoyable. Thank you for helping me preserve my options while I continue looking for a partner who communicates as well as a fertility clinic. At this point, Spring Fertility has set an impressively high standard.

Dr. Temeka Zaire ruined my career. After I expressed concerns about medication side effects, she still prescribed the medication and told me it would be fine. I later learned during my next visit with another doctor that the medication did not have the side effects she had claimed when prescribing it. If I could give zero stars, I would. I would never recommend this fertility clinic or Dr. Zaire to anyone. If I could, I would sue them.

Dr. Zore is great, but operations—especially the nursing team and billing department—are terrible. Once you become a patient, you must go through the nursing team, which never answers the phone. Scheduling or speaking with them is nearly impossible unless you keep your calendar open for a callback whenever it suits them. The billing department used incorrect billing codes, resulting in large charges. I spent a year going back and forth before they took any action, while continuing collection efforts against me. Again, terrible operations.

I recently went through IVF at Spring Fertility with Dr. Zore, and I had an incredibly positive experience. Dr. Zore is both highly professional and deeply compassionate - I felt genuinely cared for and well-informed every step of the way. I truly can’t speak highly enough of her. I spent a fair amount of time researching to find the right doctor, and I’m so glad I did. Choosing Dr. Zore made all the difference, and my experience exceeded expectations. As for Spring Fertility overall, everything ran very smoothly - from scheduling appointments to nurse follow-ups and updates. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, and aside from a couple of minor delays, appointments were generally on time.

My doctor performed an egg retrieval while I had an 11.4 cm cyst in my abdomen, without telling me beforehand. I attached my MRI image so you can see for yourself. That white mass you see is my cyst. It occupied my entire lower abdomen, yet despite daily ultrasounds, they performed the egg retrieval without knowing it was there. After the retrieval, I was initially in unbearable pain. Walking, sleeping, and other activities were extremely painful. I called, and they told me to take Tylenol. It felt as though a bowling ball were pressing on my pelvis, and I cried almost every day. The pain continued until I had surgery to remove the cyst several months later. After the retrieval, my doctor casually mentioned that I had a cyst, said it was not a major issue, and encouraged me to undergo another retrieval. She had me spend thousands of dollars on medications and come to the clinic, only to finally tell me that I actually needed surgery first and could not proceed with a second retrieval. I had to discard all the medications. They should never have performed the first retrieval, much less encouraged a second. Because of this experience, I now question all medical advice. Use caution when seeking fertility treatment here. The images speak for themselves.

Dr. Zore is an exceptional clinician, and I highly recommend her and her entire team. Before this, my partner and I had undergone several rounds of IVF at another well-known San Francisco clinic, so we were familiar with the challenges of the process. My partner and I underwent approximately one year of IVF treatment with Dr. Zore. My partner had about 5 egg retrievals, and I had 2. Every visit made us more certain that we had found the best doctor. Dr. Zore is thorough, kind, thoughtful, and highly knowledgeable. Before every visit, she was fully prepared, understood our prior history in detail, and patiently explained our situation so we felt reassured, supported, and empowered. What impressed me most was our first meeting. I initially attended only to support my partner because I was already receiving care at another fertility clinic. But after seeing how attentively Dr. Zore cared for my partner, how thoroughly prepared she was, how deeply she understood the case, and how thoughtful and compassionate she was, I immediately asked to transfer my own care to her, even though it was Friday and I was scheduled to begin hormone treatment at another clinic on Monday. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Her team was equally outstanding. Every staff member was professional, warm, and organized. They anticipated needs before you even recognized them and guided you through every step of what can be an overwhelming process. The nurses in particular were very kind and genuinely cared about our treatment journey; we always felt they were cheering us on. After a long and difficult process, my partner and I finally succeeded, and we truly believe this result would not have been possible without Dr. Zore’s wisdom, expertise, and persistence. On our final day of treatment, the entire team celebrated with us, cheering in the hallway and giving us a small baby bodysuit. It was a deeply meaningful and moving moment. Honestly, leaving the clinic was difficult because we had received such attentive care. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Zore and her team and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone seeking fertility treatment.

The frustrating part is that the doctors and staff are wonderful when you are physically in the clinic—they genuinely care, provide support, explain everything, and make sure you are comfortable. But once you leave, it feels like dealing with a completely different organization, and the experience becomes a nightmare. **Communication is extremely poor.** Urgent questions take days to receive a response, and even then the answer rarely addresses what I actually asked. Trying to reach them by phone? Good luck. They do everything possible to avoid real-time communication and force everything through a messaging system. **There is no guidance during this emotionally difficult treatment.** When we scheduled treatment, no one called to explain what to expect. They simply sent forms for different protocols to sign without explaining why one might be chosen or how the medications work. When my wife developed severe side effects, they left her without guidance for days until she had to stop the medication herself. **The disorganization is shocking.** After our cycle failed, we needed follow-up tests that should have been prioritized so we could decide on the next treatment. Despite messaging every week for a month, we discovered they had not even started because the financial department never contacted us about payment. When we first asked about cost, they quoted one price, but the actual amount was four times higher. Such a large difference could completely change a treatment decision. **You truly feel like a walking wallet.** You pay astronomical fees for treatment with no personal care or support. They show no understanding of how sensitive and time-critical this journey is. Their delays and poor communication do more than waste time; they harm relationships and mental health during an already difficult process. Save yourself the heartbreak and choose a clinic that truly values patients rather than profit. During one of life's most challenging periods, you deserve compassionate and organized care.

Our infertility journey over the past five years has been long and challenging, but Spring's support made it easier. The nurses and doctors communicated promptly, everyone treated us warmly, and they even provided heated blankets that made difficult in-office procedures a little easier. An absolute nightmare. They provided no treatment plan or timeline and there was no communication. Month after month passed, and we still did not know what to do. The app is a joke, and you cannot contact the doctor directly. They sent treatment consent forms two months ago; we told them certain fields needed correction before we could sign, but they still have not responded. If you want IVF, go elsewhere.

First, I am very grateful to have met Dr. Murugappan and gone through this journey with her. I believe she set appropriate expectations while remaining very kind. Her team took excellent care during the egg retrieval. Special recognition goes to Nurse May, who explained the process carefully and slowly and guided me through injections and supplements. Communication through the Salve app was an added benefit because even if they missed a call, they responded later in Salve. After the retrieval, they continued checking on my health, listened to all my questions and concerns, and helped with postoperative care. I would recommend Dr. Murugappan without hesitation.

I knew very little about IVF, egg freezing, or embryo freezing. I met with Dr. Murugappan, who was knowledgeable and thoughtful and gave me enough information during the consultation. Special thanks to her. Throughout the process, she was supportive and kind and made me feel at ease. The nursing team and doctors I saw this week were also friendly and welcoming. I like the app they use for communication. It was confusing at first, but became easy after exploring it. I am not a phone person because I spend all day on calls, so I liked being able to reach nurses and administrators easily through the app. They responded promptly within 24 hours, even on weekends when I contacted them with concerns. The process was smooth, and the staff followed up attentively. I know the reviews are mixed, but ask questions, be patient, and speak up if you are unhappy. The process is physically and mentally stressful; the last thing you need is more stress.

The clinic has modern facilities and professional physicians, but the overall process felt highly standardized and lacked individualized care. After my embryo transfer, I received no progesterone or other medical support, and they did not subsequently check my progesterone level, even though current research considers progesterone monitoring an important part of IVF management. Communication was also difficult. My messages through the patient portal often went unanswered, and I received only a brief notice that my result was negative, with no explanation or follow-up. On the same day I received the negative result, a nurse immediately asked whether I wanted to begin another cycle, without suggesting a break or evaluation, and the doctor was completely unavailable. When I asked about individualized treatment, the nurse gave a very standardized response and told me that they generally do not provide personalized care. Reaching the doctor was also extremely difficult. I lost confidence in the physician because my treatment felt poorly managed and lacked appropriate medical oversight. IVF is an emotional and expensive journey, and patients deserve empathy, communication, and treatment plans tailored to their specific needs. I sincerely hope the clinic improves its quality of care, follow-up, and ability to provide more individualized and compassionate treatment.

I had an excellent experience at Spring Fertility Sunnyvale with Dr. Murugappan! I completed four egg-freezing cycles at Spring, all with good results. From the beginning, Dr. Murugappan carefully tailored my treatment plan to my age and fertility markers. Throughout the process, she was honest, positive, and reassuring. I also found the nurses very friendly, and communication was excellent, with consistently quick replies through the app. The clinic facilities are new and modern. By the end, after four egg-freezing cycles, I even began to enjoy the process =) Overall, I highly recommend Spring and Dr. Murugappan!

I am deeply grateful to Spring for helping me become a mother. Before coming here, I completed three IVF cycles at two other very well-known clinics. Those experiences were terrible; treatment failed and made my health worse. Honestly, I hated those clinics. More than two years ago, I came to Spring and met Dr. Tran. He was very confident and genuinely willing to listen to patients. His protocol worked extremely well for me. The entire IVF process went smoothly, and Dr. Tran and Dr. Debra carefully monitored every step. Dr. Debra performed the egg retrieval with great care and success. Before the embryo transfer, nurse Ursula completed a thorough assessment, and Dr. Tran personally performed the FET. My medication nurse was Julie, who was also outstanding. The entire process was smooth and efficient, and I am very pleased with the outcome. My baby is now over a year old. Thank you again, Spring, for making my dream come true.

I had an excellent experience working with Dr. Gayu Murugappan and her team. I completed a procedure several years ago, but later developed a medical condition that delayed our family plans and created a great deal of uncertainty. I met with Dr. Murugappan to discuss the situation. She was very understanding and helped me make an informed decision focused on supporting my recovery while preparing alternative options until my procedure could be completed. This led to another round of treatment earlier this year. I encountered an insurance issue that left me overwhelmed. The office helped me resolve the complex situation efficiently through the app, allowing me to begin and successfully complete the procedure. The office may not always be reachable by phone, but they consistently responded through the app or platform the same day. Sometimes several messages were needed, but I found them professional and thoughtful. Throughout the procedure, everyone I met showed care and attention despite managing many patients each day. They made me feel heard, seen, and understood. The doctor was willing to review medications prescribed by my functional medicine physician and confirm which were safe to use. She did not criticize or comment on my plan to use alternative medications, which made me feel exceptionally supported during an at times overwhelming and emotional treatment process.

I am very pleased with the care and outcome of my egg freezing. Appointments were scheduled promptly, and the nurses’ follow-up was extremely helpful in keeping me on schedule. Every staff member, nurse, and doctor was helpful, thoughtful, and patient. Highly recommended; the entire process went very smoothly. One minor issue was that I independently read supplemental AI materials and adjusted my diet and fluid/electrolyte intake. The clinic did not provide this kind of comprehensive information, although they did an excellent job with medications, medication information, recovery checks, and related matters.

The staff at this clinic are extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Minor paperwork errors delayed my procedure for several weeks, then on the day of my final appointment they suddenly required me to pay $349 out of pocket. They had my insurance information well in advance, and this lack of transparency is inexcusable. Their behavior was rude and felt like a tactic to pressure me into paying. I would not recommend this clinic.

The entire Spring team made what could have been a stressful and emotional process feel easy, manageable, and reassuring. From ultrasounds to blood draws, every visit was efficient, comfortable, and professional. As monitoring appointments became more frequent later in treatment, I continued to feel warmly welcomed and genuinely cared for. The laboratory technicians were friendly and kind, and the nursing staff in both the clinic and the preoperative and recovery areas were attentive, thoughtful, and highly skilled. Special thanks to my coordinator, Safa, who kept everything extremely well organized. Scheduling, financial follow-up, instructions, and expectations were all communicated very clearly. The patient app was also easy to use, and I was impressed by how quickly every question I asked was answered. Knowing there was also an emergency contact number gave me additional peace of mind throughout the process. I would also like to thank my nurse, May. The medication plan and dosage instructions were always clear. She not only sent detailed messages but also called to confirm that I understood everything and to answer any questions. That level of attentive care meant so much to me. Finally, thank you to my procedure team, including my anesthesiologist, for making the egg retrieval smooth and comfortable. Most of all, thank you, Dr. Murugappan, for making me feel safe during such a vulnerable and important time in my life. Your compassion, professionalism, and genuine care for your patients are admirable, and I am sincerely grateful. My experience as a gestational carrier with Spring Fertility was extremely disappointing and distressing. Unfortunately, communication, responsiveness, and coordination fell far below my expectations throughout the process. One of the main problems was poor communication through the patient portal. My messages often went unanswered, and even when I received a response, it was frequently delayed. As a gestational carrier following a strict medication protocol, timely and accurate information was essential. Instead, I often felt left to find answers on my own. The medication process was also not explained adequately. I repeatedly had questions about the medications, timing, and next steps, but the clinic team did not provide enough assistance. Gestational carriers devote significant time, energy, and physical effort to the process, and clear communication should be a top priority. The most distressing part of my experience occurred during the embryo transfer cycle. The day before the scheduled transfer, I personally confirmed the appointment with the clinic, including my arrival time, required documents, and medications I needed to continue. Based on that confirmation, I flew to California, arranged childcare, took time off work, and continued following the clinic's instructions. Despite this, after I arrived in California and prepared for the transfer, I was told about an hour before the scheduled time that the embryo transfer cycle had been canceled. After weeks of medication, injections, monitoring appointments, travel arrangements, and personal sacrifices, this last-minute cancellation was devastating. The canceled cycle caused unnecessary emotional distress, financial loss, travel and childcare expenses, and lost wages. It was even more frustrating because the clinic had confirmed the appointment only the previous day, giving me no reason to suspect the transfer would be canceled. Throughout the process, I also found much of the clinic's communication cold and insensitive rather than supportive. Gestational carriers deserve to be treated with respect, compassion, and professionalism throughout the process. Unfortunately, I did not receive that level of support at Spring Fertility. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Spring Fertility to other gestational carriers. Poor communication, slow responses, inadequate medication support, and canceling the procedure after I had already traveled to the clinic and prepared for the transfer caused tremendous stress and disappointment.
