Dr. JENNIFER SHINNERS, United States
“My mother taught me to enjoy life and never give up—I credit her for my perseverance and positive attitude. Most importantly, she taught me to be kind.
Undergraduate: Brandeis University
Medical School: University of Vermont
Internship and Residency: SUNY Upstate Medical University
Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and affiliated with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Growing up in Augusta, Maine, Dr. Shinners developed an interest in medicine through a high school cancer research project. After studying female endocrinology in college, she decided to become an OB/GYN. Following in the footsteps of her artist mother, she also studied painting in college. She enjoys combining her creative and intellectual interests in obstetrics and gynecology by working with her hands in surgery and offering patients sophisticated new treatments. Dr. Shinners is particularly optimistic about today's options that “truly change people's quality of life.” She hopes to continue helping patients find healthcare solutions and says, “There are many remarkable new treatments and technologies that can help.”
Dr. Shinners
lives in Scarborough, Maine, with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, skiing, playing tennis, and enjoying Maine's lakes and ocean.
