Adina Schwartz, MD, FACOG, is a fertility specialist at Reproductive Medicine Associates (RMA) in Somerset County, New Jersey. She earned her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from the University of Maryland.
Watching her parents undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) when she was a child sparked Dr. Schwartz's interest in pregnancy and fertility at an early age. “I started medical school knowing I wanted to specialize in fertility and was willing to do whatever it took to achieve that goal,” she says. After graduating from NJMS, she completed her OB/GYN residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and served as a gynecologic clinical fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Schwartz remained at NIH to complete her reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) fellowship and received specialized training in fertility preservation.
Patients benefit from Dr. Schwartz's expertise, and she also connects with them through personal experience. Dr. Schwartz and her wife both underwent IVF, and she understands the emotional journey of fertility treatment: “Although I would never suggest that I know exactly how a patient feels, my personal experiences as both a patient and partner help me understand where their feelings come from and what support they need.”
Joining RMA to help patients build families seemed destined for Dr. Schwartz. “As someone who grew up in New Jersey and wanted to specialize in fertility, there was no question where I wanted to work,” she says. “I was drawn to RMA's commitment to patient care and to advancing the fertility field through cutting-edge research.”
Dr. Schwartz is an avid sports fan who enjoys exploring new cultures outside work. She is always looking for a new hike to explore with her wife and child. She also founded an a cappella group in college and can harmonize with almost anything.

Extremely Disappointing Experience
1. Lack of Communication: I did not receive any confirmation call or text regarding my appointment and had to follow up myself, which was both inconvenient and concerning.
2. Unhygienic Facilities: The restroom located across from the reception desk — near the coffee and tea bar — was in an unacceptable condition. It was not only unclean, but the toilet had been left unflushed and the door left open, which created a very unpleasant and unsanitary environment. I immediately reported this to the receptionist. A higher standard of cleanliness and facility maintenance is expected.
3. Outdated and Uncomfortable Examination Room: The room designated for the semen analysis was extremely outdated. The floor tiles appear to be decades old. Additionally, the adult content on the TV required patients to purchase viewing minutes, with only brief, silent clips available otherwise — which is inappropriate and impractical for the intended purpose. When I inquired about how the system worked, the technician was unable to assist.
Due to these concerns, I chose to leave the appointment and rebook at the Basking Ridge location, which has always provided a significantly better experience. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to the Somerset branch. The contrast in quality between locations is stark, and I hope serious improvements are made.

I had an excellent experience at RMA. The doctors, nurses, and care staff are highly professional and outstanding. I received detailed explanations of every part of the process, and the nurses always kept me updated through the portal about test results, medications, and other tasks. Whenever I had questions, messages and calls were answered promptly. As this was my first pregnancy, I was initially very afraid, but RMA made my conception journey much easier. I recommend RMA to anyone seeking assisted reproductive treatment. Trust me, you will not find a better choice than RMA😊

After nearly two years as an RMA patient, I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, my time here involved disappointment, poor communication, and a serious surgical error.
First, the positive: the front desk staff and phlebotomists are the heart of this institution. Their warm smiles and kindness during early-morning visits brought some comfort during a difficult journey. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end for me.
The clinical care lacked a human touch and often felt robotic. I frequently contacted doctors and nurses with questions or concerns and waited weeks for a response, if I received one at all. Communication was not only frustrating but discouraging, especially during treatment as physically and emotionally draining as fertility care.
The turning point was surgery at RMA that sent me to the emergency room and later required corrective surgery. I was told my fallopian tube would be cauterized to prevent hydrosalpinx, but the wrong location was cauterized. This error could have ruined my entire fertility journey. Fortunately, a referring physician—ironically, my RMA doctor—helped me find another surgeon who corrected the mistake.
The new doctor also encouraged me to seek fertility treatment elsewhere, which I did. I am now 7 weeks pregnant under a completely different team, and I genuinely believe leaving RMA transformed my life.
RMA is expensive, and for the price I expected better care. I strongly encourage anyone considering this clinic to research thoroughly and explore alternatives. Fertility treatment is already challenging; you deserve a communicative, caring team that, above all, treats you as a person rather than a number.

Do not waste your time, money, or energy. Infertility is stressful enough without the added burden of incompetence.
1. My bill had someone else’s name on it. I called finance three times to confirm the charges were actually mine. The woman I spoke with was one of the nastiest people I have ever encountered, and I am a nurse, which says a lot. I asked for a manager, but three days later he still had not called back.
2. Since meeting Dr. Doherty, I have been assigned three different nurses. None responded to my requests for help. You cannot reach anyone by phone. All communication is through a portal and feels entirely robotic. No one communicates by phone.
3. No one answers when you call. You can leave voicemails for days without a return call.
Dr. Doherty is kind and thoughtful, but it is unfortunate that he works for such a poor organization. As a nurse, I know the standard healthcare should meet. I have not even begun treatment with them, and this has been my experience so far. It has shown me everything I need to know.

I am so glad I found a clinic like RMA and a doctor like Dr. Hock. They are the best team I have encountered. My experience was excellent, and they were very attentive. You simply cannot reach them by phone. I tried several times and could not reach a person. I initially chose this clinic because it was close to work, but ultimately selected another solely because someone there answered the phone, was friendly, and asked how they could help. Sometimes good customer service and prompt responses truly make all the difference.

They are very responsive and helpful. No questions left unanswered especially in such an uncertain situation. Even when I ended up in the emergency room RMA drs were on the phone with me and calling the hospital directly to make sure I was comfortable and being seen and getting the proper medical treatment. There were many times we were unsure of next steps in the ER and the dr called and asked to speak with drs and nurses to give me all the answers. I knew this was the right choice from my first meeting with dr Schwartz, after first getting the news of a low chance of a natural pregnancy from my OBGYN and not getting any further details Shwarts sat down with me and my husband and gave me an overview of what’s happening in my body and every option I have. She left very little room for fear because fear comes with the unknown and she pumped us with hope and knowledge. Very grateful and excited to start our journey.

The care was perfect. On Super Bowl Sunday, I had a minor urgent issue, and she actually returned my call, apparently during the game!

Dr. Schwartz is wonderful: knowledgeable, patient, and thoughtful. She always takes time to explain the reasoning behind each step while carefully listening to your views and concerns. She genuinely cares about her patients and shares your happiness when a transfer succeeds.
My nurse Lina and acupuncturist Caroline were also wonderful. They were empathetic, professional, and patient when answering questions, and they clearly knew their work extremely well. Their support played an essential role throughout the process.
I feel very fortunate to have had this team beside me during such a challenging and stressful journey. I am sincerely grateful to RMA for its care and support.

Dr. Schwartz is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and explains everything thoroughly.
