Extremely Disappointing Experience 1. Lack of Communication: I did not receive any confirmation call or text regarding my appointment and had to follow up myself, which was both inconvenient and concerning. 2. Unhygienic Facilities: The restroom located across from the reception desk — near the coffee and tea bar — was in an unacceptable condition. It was not only unclean, but the toilet had been left unflushed and the door left open, which created a very unpleasant and unsanitary environment. I immediately reported this to the receptionist. A higher standard of cleanliness and facility maintenance is expected. 3. Outdated and Uncomfortable Examination Room: The room designated for the semen analysis was extremely outdated. The floor tiles appear to be decades old. Additionally, the adult content on the TV required patients to purchase viewing minutes, with only brief, silent clips available otherwise — which is inappropriate and impractical for the intended purpose. When I inquired about how the system worked, the technician was unable to assist. Due to these concerns, I chose to leave the appointment and rebook at the Basking Ridge location, which has always provided a significantly better experience. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to the Somerset branch. The contrast in quality between locations is stark, and I hope serious improvements are made.

I had an excellent experience at RMA. The doctors, nurses, and care staff are highly professional and outstanding. I received detailed explanations of every part of the process, and the nurses always kept me updated through the portal about test results, medications, and other tasks. Whenever I had questions, messages and calls were answered promptly. As this was my first pregnancy, I was initially very afraid, but RMA made my conception journey much easier. I recommend RMA to anyone seeking assisted reproductive treatment. Trust me, you will not find a better choice than RMA😊

After nearly two years as an RMA patient, I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, my time here involved disappointment, poor communication, and a serious surgical error. First, the positive: the front desk staff and phlebotomists are the heart of this institution. Their warm smiles and kindness during early-morning visits brought some comfort during a difficult journey. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end for me. The clinical care lacked a human touch and often felt robotic. I frequently contacted doctors and nurses with questions or concerns and waited weeks for a response, if I received one at all. Communication was not only frustrating but discouraging, especially during treatment as physically and emotionally draining as fertility care. The turning point was surgery at RMA that sent me to the emergency room and later required corrective surgery. I was told my fallopian tube would be cauterized to prevent hydrosalpinx, but the wrong location was cauterized. This error could have ruined my entire fertility journey. Fortunately, a referring physician—ironically, my RMA doctor—helped me find another surgeon who corrected the mistake. The new doctor also encouraged me to seek fertility treatment elsewhere, which I did. I am now 7 weeks pregnant under a completely different team, and I genuinely believe leaving RMA transformed my life. RMA is expensive, and for the price I expected better care. I strongly encourage anyone considering this clinic to research thoroughly and explore alternatives. Fertility treatment is already challenging; you deserve a communicative, caring team that, above all, treats you as a person rather than a number.

Do not waste your time, money, or energy. Infertility is stressful enough without the added burden of incompetence. 1. My bill had someone else’s name on it. I called finance three times to confirm the charges were actually mine. The woman I spoke with was one of the nastiest people I have ever encountered, and I am a nurse, which says a lot. I asked for a manager, but three days later he still had not called back. 2. Since meeting Dr. Doherty, I have been assigned three different nurses. None responded to my requests for help. You cannot reach anyone by phone. All communication is through a portal and feels entirely robotic. No one communicates by phone. 3. No one answers when you call. You can leave voicemails for days without a return call. Dr. Doherty is kind and thoughtful, but it is unfortunate that he works for such a poor organization. As a nurse, I know the standard healthcare should meet. I have not even begun treatment with them, and this has been my experience so far. It has shown me everything I need to know.

I am so glad I found a clinic like RMA and a doctor like Dr. Hock. They are the best team I have encountered. My experience was excellent, and they were very attentive. I appreciate their hours because I do not have to miss work, which is a bonus for me. Overall, I would recommend this clinic without hesitation. Thank you for everything you do.

Despite every high and low, he never let me lose faith that anything was possible. I also thank nurses Sara Friedwald and Amy Cascone for their support and ongoing communication, and the entire Freehold staff, including Melissa, Stephanie, Reni, Reena, and others. The clinic was always comfortable, friendly, and positive. No one was ever rude to patients. The women at the clinic made today's graduation bittersweet, and I greatly appreciate everyone's support. For the past eight months, I have been a patient at RMA under Dr. Doherty’s care. I underwent fertility testing and two intrauterine inseminations (IUIs) there. The care I received was outstanding. Every receptionist, phlebotomist, nurse, and doctor we encountered was compassionate and kind. During this time, I visited three RMA locations, and the standard of service was consistently high. Dr. Doherty and the entire team were always dedicated and honest. They explained every step and patiently ensured that I felt comfortable each time. When my husband and I learned that I was pregnant and would be “graduating,” we had mixed feelings because we knew we would no longer receive care there. RMA was a place of comfort for us. We will always be grateful to Dr. Doherty and the entire RMA team.

TL; DR - Dr. Doherty cares about the whole person, and the level of care he provides is unmatched. He listens, understands, and provides a great plan of care, making you feel seen, heard, valued, and comfortable. Dr. Doherty was amazing during our infertility journey. Starting with our first appointment, we sent all of our medical records, which included some traumatic past events. In that appointment, he did not make me rehash the traumatic experience. He read through our medical files thoroughly, and while he had a few questions to gain better insight, it was done with care, understanding of our emotional well-being, and with purpose. When our diagnostic tests were complete, Dr. Doherty discussed the results, his plan for our fertility journey, and genuinely wanted to know our thoughts, feelings, concerns, and any questions we had. He explains the intricacies of the science clearly in an easy-to-digest way, so you are knowledgeable about why certain treatments or decisions are made. Dr. Doherty is knowledgeable, experienced, and up to date on the latest literature and research, providing his patients with the best care. One of the biggest things that makes Dr. Doherty stand out is that when he enters the room, a sense of calm filled the air that you knew you were going to be well-cared for, your physical and emotional health were of great concern to him and what can be an anxiety-filled journey, he brings the calm needed for you to feel absolutely as comfortable as possible on this journey. Dr. Doherty made the difficult and celebratory phone calls himself, which was greatly appreciated. For instance, we technically had a positive pregnancy test; however, the number was not as high as expected, indicating a potential problem. The tenderness and clear explanation Dr. Doherty gave during that call, letting me know that while it was a positive test, he had reservations and wanted to follow up in a few days to get a clearer picture. That phone call prepared us for what potentially could be the result, which was a chemical pregnancy in this case. This is just one of many examples of how he is always considering the emotional factor of the infertility journey. For me, a doctor calling to provide this type of news speaks volumes to the kind of doctor and person he is. Dr. Doherty also called to tell us our first transfer was successful. While it is easy to call for good news, taking time to speak with patients and walk them through news that wasn’t is just as important, if not more so. One of the best things Dr. Doherty left with us as we graduated to our OBGYN was to celebrate each win and then take on the new challenge the next day. For example, when we got the positive pregnancy test from our transfer, he shared that we should celebrate today, this huge win, and tomorrow we can take on the next step in our journey. Fertility treatments are an emotional rollercoaster, and having your doctor support your want to celebrate these achievements while still understanding there are next hills to climb made me feel heard, valued, and recognized. Hearing those words has taken us through this pregnancy. The entire Freehold RMA team was incredible throughout the journey. They are just as invested in your journey as you are and are there with encouraging words, a listening ear, and support. The team is professional, skilled, and cares for their patients. Our nurse, Laura, was absolutely incredible. She was responsive, answered all of our questions with care and concern, and calmed our fears about some of the medications, including giving injections for the first time. I never felt rushed while speaking with her and could ask any question, big or small. She was clear about the timing of medications and changes, keeping me organized. Fertility treatments are trying both physically and emotionally, and I am not sure I could have stuck it out without the extremely supportive team of Dr. Doherty, Laura, and the entire Freehold RMA office.

I saw Dr. Leo Doherty at RMA, and he is a wonderful, compassionate doctor. He never makes you feel uncomfortable, and I felt I could talk to him like a friend. He is extremely knowledgeable and truly a top doctor. I feel very fortunate to have found him.

I am posting this review here because I could not leave it on another review site. Dr. D is absolutely one of my favorite doctors I have ever received treatment from. My fiancé and I had a great experience at RMA; the entire staff, including my nurse Erin, was excellent and always thoughtful. After starting treatment with Dr. D, we agreed we had made the right choice, having come from another local clinic that was not a good fit. Of all the doctors I have met, Dr. D has the most genuine, realistic perspective and manner with patients. He personally shared any important news with me and brought me great comfort throughout the process. RMA is a large facility, but we never felt like just a number. We appreciated his gentle yet direct approach to our treatment plan. We felt well cared for and had the best experience possible, even though infertility itself can be a difficult journey. Thanks to Dr. D, nurse Erin, embryology, and the entire RMA team, we welcomed our miracle baby girl this August. I have recommended Dr. D to several other couples we know who are starting fertility journeys. I am so glad I followed my friend's recommendation and chose Dr. D at RMA.
