IVF is an emotional and financial investment, so we want our laboratory to give patients the best possible chance of pregnancy.

 

When we built our laboratory from the ground up, we incorporated all available technologies designed to improve pregnancy rates. Our new laboratory opened at Merrick Park in Coral Gables in 2016, and we are very pleased with our patients’ results.

We are proud to be one of the few laboratories in Florida offering the LifeAire system. This specialized filtration system is part of a dedicated air-conditioning unit that circulates clean-room-quality air through our operating room and laboratory.

 

In a multicenter study published in 2016* (Palter S, DiPaola K, Sparks AE, Degelos S, Koulianos GT, Young J, Halicigil T, Yalcinkaya, She E, Bartolucci A. Multicenter study: Innovative control of ambient air quality in multiple IVF laboratories is associated with statistically significant improvements in clinical outcomes—analysis of 5319 cycles. Fertility and Sterility 2016 106:3 Suppl e27-28.), the system was shown to increase ongoing pregnancy rates by 14.9% across all age groups and was available in only a few laboratories nationwide. *Data published in 2016; Conceptions Florida built a new laboratory with Life Aire technology in 2017.

 

This proprietary air-filtration system took years to develop and removes nearly all contaminants known to affect pregnancy success rates among IVF patients.

My wife and I tried using this group. Although the doctor was good, the support staff were abysmal and seemed to care only about collecting a paycheck. We had to constantly supervise the team through every step of the process and eventually gave up. If you have no other options, I understand why this group might be acceptable. But do not expect any kind of "white-glove" service. You are on your own with them. Be prepared to do the work yourself.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Florida Conceptions. I chose this clinic after reading its reviews because I needed a specific fertility test. The surgical coordinator, Jackie, asked me to send my referral, which clearly stated the test my doctor had ordered. She confirmed that she had received it and scheduled my appointment. Before my appointment, I specifically asked about insurance coverage and was told the test was not covered. On the day of the appointment, I asked again at check-in because I wanted to be absolutely certain. The front-desk staff checked with several people and again told me that my insurance did not cover it. I trusted their expertise. Immediately before the procedure, the nurse practitioner asked whether I had any questions. I asked her to confirm that they were performing the exact test my OB-GYN had recommended. That was when she informed me that I was actually scheduled for a completely different test. I explained what my doctor had ordered, but I was told that although it was not the test on the schedule, this other test "needed to be done." Since this was my first experience with fertility testing and I was already nervous and overwhelmed, I trusted their medical judgment. Afterward, I called my OB-GYN, upset and believing that the referral contained an error. Instead, I learned that my referral had been correct all along. Florida Conceptions had scheduled the wrong procedure and performed the wrong test on my body. To make matters worse, after the clinic apologized for its mistake, I later learned that my insurance actually did cover the testing. I had been incorrectly told several times that it did not. Although I received a refund, this was never about the money. It was about the experience, the emotional distress, and the unnecessary anxiety I endured during an already difficult and vulnerable time. Fertility testing is stressful enough without having to worry about whether you are receiving the correct care. No patient should have to question whether the procedure being performed is even the one their doctor ordered. This was not a simple scheduling error. Several staff members had opportunities to catch these mistakes—from scheduling and insurance verification to check-in and the provider's review before the procedure—but no one did. Patients entrust fertility clinics with something deeply personal: their bodies, their health, and often their dreams of starting a family. I sincerely hope this clinic improves its scheduling, insurance verification, and patient safety procedures because I would never want anyone else to endure what I did.

I had an excellent experience at Conceptions! The physician was wonderful—professional and caring—and took the time to answer all of my questions. The staff were also extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful throughout the process. They made me feel comfortable and well cared for from beginning to end. If I could give a lower rating, I certainly would. This clinic is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Stay away! The staff appear warm and friendly but are actually dismissive. The last two times, they canceled my appointment because "Dr. Hernandez had an emergency," and coincidentally, both emergencies arose exactly two days before the appointment. It seems they need a new excuse for wasting everyone's time.

As much as I would like to keep this place to myself...haha. Just kidding. I had a wonderful experience here. Whoever handles hiring has done an excellent job. They never created panic, which I greatly appreciated, even when things did not go as we had hoped. I liked everyone I met. My IVF nurse Rachel was amazing! She is intelligent, attentive, and excellent in every way. My IUI coordinator Alex stayed by my side even after I transferred to the IVF department. I love her! Jose, Maggie, Rose, Dr. H, and the others are all wonderful people. This place felt like my second home. It was hard to graduate from the clinic, but we achieved our goal of becoming pregnant!! Choosing a clinic matters, and I could not have found a better place. Thank you all so much 🫶🥹

I am immensely grateful to this clinic because I now hold two healthy babies in my arms. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Trisha Shah, my IVF nurse Melanie, and the entire staff. IVF is challenging and exhausting, but this clinic supported and cared for me throughout. Dr. Shah is outstanding—approachable, compassionate, and highly knowledgeable. She communicates exceptionally well, clearly explaining her reasoning and the basis for decisions. My nurse Melanie was also extremely organized with scheduling and treatment plans and responded promptly to my questions. She was very considerate and put me at ease. Rose, the phlebotomist, radiated positivity, and her blood draws left almost no bruising. She is highly skilled. The operating room staff were efficient and friendly.

Terrible! Not recommended. I provided my insurance information and completed the forms several days before the appointment. When I arrived, they told me they did not accept my insurance and that I had to pay $600 out of pocket, without any advance notice. They lacked basic courtesy and professionalism and did not even try to discuss options with me. Completely unacceptable—do not trust them.

Thank God, and to the nurses and Dr. Armando Hernandez and my nurse Anay today I was discharged from the infertility clinic with my miracle in my belly. From the first day I felt It was the right place I received the best attention from everyone, every step of my process I trust that God put the right people in My life. I want to express my gratitude to Conceptions Florida for the attentive care they provided. My husband and I struggled with infertility, and that period was painful and confusing. From the beginning, the team made me feel heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. They took time to perform a comprehensive evaluation and carefully investigated possible causes of infertility. Apart from one major finding—a large uterine fibroid—my fertility was otherwise normal. Dr. Armando Rey explained everything clearly and recommended a myomectomy. I trusted his guidance and chose to have the surgery. Seven months after surgery, my husband and I tried to conceive, and fortunately we succeeded on the first attempt. After everything we had been through, it felt like a miracle. In early pregnancy, the team continued to monitor me closely until I graduated. I am now 13 weeks pregnant, and everything is progressing well. I am incredibly grateful and fortunate to have found Conceptions Florida and Dr. Rey. They helped us achieve our dream of pregnancy, and I will always appreciate their care, compassion, and professional guidance throughout the journey.

This company is completely unreliable. I scheduled an early February appointment two months in advance. The clinic called twice to confirm, and I confirmed both times. Two days before the appointment, they called again to say the doctor was unavailable and my visit had to be rescheduled. They gave me no choice, so I accepted their “earliest available appointment,” March 20, more than a month after my original date. The clinic just called again to cancel this appointment because the doctor is unavailable. What a joke and completely unprofessional. Avoid this clinic unless you want to waste your time.

This review is late, but the quality of care I received was too exceptional not to share. This was my second egg retrieval at Conceptions Florida. Before these procedures, the only surgery I had ever undergone was my first retrieval at Conceptions. Both experiences were deeply moving, and the second team was equally outstanding. This team included Dr. Trisha Shah, who ensured I understood the procedure throughout and was very considerate of my needs. My operating room nurses were Nathaly and Kristi. My embryologists were Ayme and Endya. My postoperative nurse was Rachel. Every team member went above and beyond, making me feel completely safe and relaxed throughout the process. I will always be grateful for their help and highly recommend Conceptions Florida to anyone needing IVF treatment.

I regret having to write this review, especially because we never even had the chance to meet a doctor or nurse. However, the way the front desk treated us was appalling. They completely lacked empathy, professionalism, and any willingness to help. We submitted all our information and documents and simply wanted to ask for a cost estimate before scheduling. They refused to provide any information unless we first booked a consultation and prepaid $300. I have never encountered this, and I am a doctor myself. They seriously need to reconsider who handles patient communication because this approach will undoubtedly drive many patients away.

Conceptions Florida is amazing! Dr. Hernandez Rey and his team were outstanding throughout the entire process. Our son is due in May, and we are incredibly excited to become parents. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Gables office, especially: * My amazing nurse Gina, who responded to every email and question patiently, promptly, and kindly; * Maggie and Aida, who gave us exceptional care and support during every scan; * Rosie, who drew my blood successfully on the first try every time and was always encouraging and positive; * Jose at the front desk, who always welcomed us warmly; * And all the other wonderful medical professionals whose names I do not know—from Dr. Hernandez Rey's nurses and the embryologists to the entire team. The team at Conceptions is truly amazing! My husband and I completed 6 IVF cycles at Conceptions, experienced a miscarriage after an embryo transfer, and even had a failed egg retrieval, but the Conceptions team never gave up on us. After years of trying, we are finally expecting our baby. The Conceptions team supported us through every high and low and was always a strong source of support. From the moment you enter the clinic to check in, staff members such as Josefina (Fifi) greet you warmly and make you feel at home. The nursing staff are also outstanding and full of positive energy. Our nurse, Melanie, made the entire process comfortable. We always felt safe and reassured with her. She patiently answered every question and promptly supported us whenever we had a concern. She is truly an angel with a heart of gold who consistently goes above and beyond. Because I am afraid of needles and blood draws, Rose always helped me relax, distracted me, and kept me positive. She is one of the few clinicians I have met with such a gentle touch, making the process extremely easy and smooth. The entire medical team is also wonderful—from Jackie and Maggie to Dr. Hernandez (Dr. H), the operating room staff, and the embryology team. Everyone was exceptional. They supported us throughout, and even when we did not see them daily, Dr. H and Jackie always let us know they were closely following our treatment plan and progress. We highly recommend this practice to anyone looking to build or grow their family. Thank you, Conceptions team!

I called to ask about the services they offer, but the customer service representative who answered knew nothing about them and did not even know they provide third-party reproductive services. I wanted to understand how the service works, but she said she could not tell me anything unless I scheduled an initial consultation costing $600. If you are trying to conceive, you do not want to spend $600 without knowing anything about the clinic or its services. I asked to speak with someone else, but she said no one else was available. As a surrogate, I have to deduct stars because of the nurses’ lack of professionalism and empathy. Unfortunately, they were often rude and accused me of not taking my medication as instructed, even refusing when I requested a different medication. As a first-time surrogate, it was normal for me to have many questions and concerns about the medications. In addition, because of their poor communication, I had to continue painful progesterone injections for two extra weeks. This was also very frustrating. I only wanted them to treat me with compassion and respect and offer solutions instead of blame. The doctors at this practice were wonderful, and I ultimately delivered a healthy, happy surrogate baby. I also met several medical assistants who were very kind and compassionate. If I become a surrogate again, I will choose different nurses if possible, because I was very satisfied with the professionalism of the other staff.

We had an embryo transfer in 2020, and Gina was exceptional from the beginning. Throughout the process, she was attentive, knowledgeable, patient, and highly supportive during our emotional journey. What makes Gina special is that, even years later as we continue building our family, she remains as helpful, responsive, and caring as she was at the start. Such consistent dedication and empathy are rare. The clinic is fortunate to have Gina on its team. I had an excellent experience at this clinic. From the moment I entered, I was treated with great warmth and respect. Thank God, my treatment was very successful. The staff were attentive, thoughtful, and professional. Nurse Anay was always ready to answer all my questions and concerns. Dr. Rey Hernández, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Magy were all very professional. I will certainly return for my second treatment as soon as possible.

I just completed my fifth egg donation here, and every experience has been excellent. Everyone is warm, friendly, and attentive. Gina, Rosa, the front desk staff, and all the nurses were wonderful, especially Christina, who took exceptional care of me after egg retrieval. Even the surgeon personally greets me and checks on me before and after retrieval. This is a wonderful clinic! Everyone works very hard.

Conceptions Florida gave us tremendous comfort during a very difficult time in our lives. We were preparing to begin IVF when our journey took an unexpected turn and we conceived naturally, but I genuinely believe their guidance and support helped us reach this point. Although our time with them was brief, every interaction felt sincere and caring. Their medical team was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. We always felt heard and cared for and never rushed. We are deeply grateful for everything they did and overjoyed with where we are now. I wholeheartedly recommend Conceptions Florida to anyone trying to conceive.

Their customer service is amazing! Fianna in particular, whose name I may be misspelling, was exceptional. I felt very guilty about being unable to attend my appointment, but I want to emphasize how outstanding her service was. She went above and beyond to help accommodate my paid time off. People like her make this clinic excellent. I am sorry I had to cancel, but I still recommend this fertility clinic because she was kind and compassionate and helped schedule me despite knowing how difficult it was for me to take leave. I highly recommend seeing her!

I attended Conceptions Florida for several years, from my first consultation through my recent discharge, and I highly recommend them. I visited both the Miramar and Coral Gables locations, and everyone at both clinics was wonderful. My IVF nurse, Yissell, was a gift from God. Her patience, compassion, and dedication carried me through this journey. She was always there—answering late-night emails, calming my worries during the day, and delivering both good and bad news. Her support meant more than words can express. The excellent care extended far beyond her. From the front desk staff who greeted me by name at every visit, to the phlebotomists who made countless blood draws easier, the operating room team on retrieval and transfer days, the embryologists, and even the finance staff, everyone played a vital role. I am surely forgetting some people, but every employee impressed me with their kindness and professionalism. Conceptions Florida turned one of the hardest journeys of my life into one in which I always felt supported and cared for. I will be forever grateful and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering fertility treatment.

Dr. Hernandez has poor bedside manner, makes inappropriate sexist remarks, and has terrible staff. The billing department is a nightmare. He is arrogant and makes you feel he has no time to answer questions or guide you through IVF. He commented on my appearance, saying, 'Don't take this the wrong way, but you look thin and healthy,' and, 'Your dress is beautiful. I didn't remember you at first, but now I do.' He ordered an MRI. After I waited an hour to see him, he called me into his office, but his staff had not even given him the results. Fortunately, I brought a CD with the scans. As we reviewed them, he pointed out that I had a tumor. When I asked what treatment he recommended, he said, 'Look, I really don't care what you do. It is all the same to me.' He handed back the CD and asked, 'So are you still planning to freeze your eggs?' His billing department is chaotic and repeatedly falsifies invoices. I requested additional itemized invoices, but they kept delaying and claiming they were working on them, then never sent them. I went back and forth with my insurance company while billing made everything difficult. They billed my insurer for incorrect services to profit. The waits are too long and the problems too numerous. This man only wants money and does not care about you.

Hello 👋🏻. Five stars are not enough for this clinic. I underwent IVF here for several years. I am Cuban, and after an ectopic pregnancy in 2019, I discovered I was having difficulty becoming pregnant, fortunately while in this country. I began treatment at Conceptions Florida in 2020. The process was difficult and long, but the compassion of these angels gave me hope and light. They held my hand throughout and treated me with great love. Without a doubt, if I underwent IVF again, I would choose these doctors. They are all outstanding: my nurse Yisell, Dr. Shah, my dear Maggie, the wonderful Dr. Rey, and the very kind phlebotomist. Every one of them is exceptional. From the moment you enter the clinic, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I recommend them 💯 to every woman having difficulty becoming pregnant. Honestly, IVF was one of the hardest and most heartbreaking things I have experienced. It is an extremely vulnerable process, and I am glad I chose this clinic. I felt supported and cared for from the start, and now that I am pregnant, it still feels unreal. I am so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen! Special thanks to my IVF nurse, Yissell. She was kind and friendly, patiently answered even my unusual questions, and reassured me throughout. Dr. Shah was also wonderful and knowledgeable. I felt well cared for, and everything went smoothly. The operating-room team was kind and professional. I was nervous about egg retrieval, but they made me feel safe and well cared for. Overall, the IVF process was very well organized. The app is basic, but its calendar is very useful for tracking everything. Be aware that waits can be long and it is sometimes unclear which floor to visit. I also wish they had explained ICSI and conventional fertilization earlier, such as considering planned ICSI from the start. Ultimately, this clinic gave me the greatest gift, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone undergoing fertility treatment!

A complete nightmare: chaos, poor hygiene, and no humanity. We came to this clinic after our first child died from a genetic disease. Devastated, we hoped for help, compassion, and professionalism. Instead, over nearly two months, we experienced the exact opposite. At first, they alarmed us by saying I might have an ovarian cyst when I was actually ovulating from both ovaries. Soon afterward, Dr. Jackie performed a hysteroscopy. It was terrifying: unbearably painful, handled without sensitivity, and the instruments in the room were dirty. It was a moment of absolute fear. Even worse, immediately afterward she recommended another hysterectomy, although only months earlier I had undergone a traumatic delivery and D&C. The chaos and poor hygiene continued: urine samples left in the restroom, dirty instruments, dehumanizing treatment, and extremely poor communication. One day, while we were waiting in the lobby, they called us to join a telehealth appointment! The disorder gave me nightmares that they would transfer someone else's embryo into me. We wasted almost two precious months of genetic-treatment time because no one mentioned PROBE, despite the urgency created by our genetic history. The worst problem was the genetic negligence. Although we had lost a child to a recessive condition—the very reason we came—they told us my husband was not a carrier. We contacted the genetic laboratory ourselves and requested repeat testing. Four days after the laboratory confirmed he was a carrier, the clinic finally called to give us the “good news.” It was too late and completely uncoordinated. Dr. Armando Hernández-Rey appeared only at our final consultation, when we gave him all our feedback and requested our records. At first he tried to justify the staff's conduct and errors, but after hearing everything, he ultimately apologized. We waited over an hour for our records, only for the receptionist to print them incorrectly. 45 minutes later, a woman from finance, not even patient care, printed everything correctly and apologized. After nearly four hours, we finally received the records and left feeling relieved. Choosing IVF Florida and Dr. Luis Hoyos was the best decision we ever made. There we found humanity, professionalism, and common sense. Today, a baby is growing inside me, and I know it is thanks to the timely change we made. P.S. I did not need any additional surgery or cesarean section, contrary to what Dr. Jackie insisted.

First, I apologize for writing this so late. My husband and I have been on our IVF journey for some time, and I had to review Conceptions Florida, especially after the care I received. A month ago, I had my first egg retrieval, my first medical procedure of any kind, and it went far better than expected. The operating room and embryology staff—Ayme, Kristi, and Nathaly—took excellent care of me. I was nervous, but meeting them made everything much easier. They are excellent at their work, and I am glad we chose them for our IVF journey. Our dedicated nurse, Anay, was amazing! She calmed our nerves, explained the process, and cared for me during the various tests. It was a pleasure having her with us during our visits. Thank you all so much.

Most importantly, she always took time with us, unlike other clinics where we felt rushed. Alexandra ensured we felt supported at every step, and her kindness and professionalism made an enormous difference in our journey. Beyond Alexandra, the entire Conception Florida staff were exceptional. Everyone was attentive, caring, and genuinely wanted to help us. I highly recommend Conceptions Florida to women who want to try IVF or, like me, want to understand whether their body is ready before trying to conceive. I first went to Conceptions before COVID. Over the years, they supported me as I learned I had uterine fibroids and polyps and ultimately underwent surgery confirming endometriosis. Later, they guided me through every step of two IVF cycles. It could otherwise have been a frightening and exhausting journey, but the Conceptions staff were outstanding, and everything I experienced went very smoothly. They were attentive, responsive, and caring, and my spouse and I felt looked after. Despite my many questions, they never rushed my appointments. Most importantly, they explained every step and remained very positive throughout. A positive, hopeful attitude meant everything to me. Choosing them for IVF was easy because they have the best IVF success rates in the area. Thank you to Dr. Hernandez Rey and PA Maggie Gonzalez for guiding me through it all, and to my IVF nurse Anay and natural-pregnancy nurse Alex. This is a wonderful place for fertility care!

The call center is wonderful and always helpful! I do think it needs more staff so calls are not missed, but I love this facility and everything they do. However, I dislike that during my appointments, staff whisper, laugh, and do not act serious at all.
