After other doctors in Glendale treated me like I was on an assembly line, Dr. Kornafel completely changed my perspective. She took time with me and treated me as a person, not just a patient. I feel that I know her and she knows me, which has given me great trust in her. We greet each other like old friends. My needs as a patient are now decreasing, thanks to her attentive care, and I am genuinely sad that I will no longer have our monthly conversations as she helps me work through different concerns. She is a direct communicator, which may be difficult for some people, but I always felt that she genuinely wanted to reduce the distance between doctor and patient. I now have a much better understanding of my body and what to expect in the future. I would schedule with Dr. Kornafel without hesitation, and if she suddenly left my network, I would gladly pay the full cost. I have read several negative reviews about her and want to clarify a few points and set expectations. 1. You can always ask your insurer and her staff for an itemized cost estimate. However, understand that it is only an estimate. If your insurance suddenly changes how or how much it reimburses for different services, that is not the fault of a doctor or provider. Unfortunately, we have to monitor these matters through insurance. 2. If you are uncomfortable with someone trying to build a genuine relationship based on mutual trust and friendship, Dr. Kornafel may not be right for you. Believe me, plenty of doctors in this town will gladly treat you like a faceless piece of meat.

I have been Dr. K's patient for over 30 years, and after seeing some critical reviews, I feel compelled to share my perspective. Dr. K is one of the most intelligent, experienced, and thorough physicians I know. Her direct, straightforward manner is precisely what makes her so effective and is something I deeply respect. Trust is essential when choosing a doctor, and Dr. K has completely earned mine. Some reviewers seem uncomfortable with her directness, but I see it as a strength, not a weakness, and a basis for genuine trust. If you want someone to sugarcoat matters or provide emotional support, a therapist may be more appropriate. Dr. K's role is not to indulge patients' insecurities. If you want a highly skilled, honest, reliable, and exceptionally capable medical professional, Dr. K is exactly whom you want. Some reviews say Dr. K is not considerate enough, but she is undeniably thorough. In my experience, her extensive knowledge—often explained proactively at the start of a consultation—creates an intellectual sense of safety. You feel that she truly knows what she is doing. Emotional reassurance is a different skill, perhaps better suited to a therapist than a diagnostician. Her role requires clarity and professionalism, not coddling. She is not insensitive—far from it. In emotionally difficult situations, she remains composed, confident, and capable. That composure should be viewed as professionalism, not lack of empathy. I personally appreciate such clarity, especially when dealing with major health concerns. Dr. K detected my cancer at the earliest stage, and thanks to her it was treated quickly and effectively. Her directness likely saved my life, and I will always be grateful. Regarding reviews criticizing her for mentioning hygiene issues: that is part of any medical professional's work. Doctors are trained to observe everything as part of a comprehensive health assessment. I am sorry some people confuse a physician's role with that of a server. Over the years, I have consistently had positive experiences with her office staff. There was one exception—a staff member whose name I cannot recall, but she was round, not very bright, lazy, and seemed always to be trying to avoid work. Thankfully, she is no longer there and was clearly not a good fit. Otherwise, the team has always been professional and helpful. Dr. K has treated thousands of patients over the years, and a few negative reviews do not reflect the quality of care she provides. I trust her completely and will continue recommending her to anyone seeking intelligent, experienced, comprehensive medical care.

I greatly appreciate her attention to detail, kindness, and genuine care at every visit. She always takes time to explain everything clearly and creates a thoughtful care plan, which gives me great confidence and peace of mind. I feel truly supported and heard.

I had my first visit with Dr. Kornafel today, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. They took me in right away after a brief nice phone call. From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease. Dr. Kornafel was kind, attentive, and made sure I felt completely comfortable throughout the appointment. She took the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed. It’s not always easy finding a gynecologist you feel truly comfortable with, but I’m so glad I found her. Highly recommend!

I went there in August 2022, and it was the worst office ever. You can never reach them. The doctor seemed unhappy with herself. I have endometriosis and ovarian cysts, and Dr. Kornafel said I was basically just unlucky—the worst thing a doctor can tell you. She then wanted to perform treatment that included bloodwork during my period to check my hormone levels. They never gave me the paperwork to have the bloodwork done. I called the office many times, spoke with the receptionists, and gave them my email, but they still never sent me the Labcorp order. To this day, I have received nothing. Do not waste your time going here. They were quick to send me a bill, however. I should not have to keep contacting an office just to make them send a lab order that was never available. Ladies, please do not go here. The doctor makes you feel terrible and is inconsiderate. No doctor should tell a patient that she is simply unlucky. Unbelievable!!!!! Terrible office.

The worst doctor. If I had listened to her, I would not be a mother today. She misdiagnosed me, had a terrible attitude, and no bedside manner at all. Run—do not walk—out of there and find someone else.

To provide a consultation, you must listen to the patient and offer advice. She is good at giving advice but not very good at listening. I feel that I wasted my time and money.

Posting on behalf of my mother: In more than 40 years of seeing doctors, I have never felt a greater need to write a review than I do now. First, I will say that I saw Dr. Katherine Kornafel for longer than I care to admit. At most, it was once a year, and I went on the instructions of my primary care provider. Dr. Kornafel has a terrible attitude and is sarcastic and rude. Although she claims to support women's rights, she is the least compassionate doctor I have ever met. If you do not want your anatomy discussed in front of office staff and patients, go elsewhere. She appears to have more bad days than good ones. I understand this is a business, but if she cannot tolerate her patients, why continue practicing? When I requested my Pap smear report, I never received a call with the results or anything by mail. It did not matter who was working in the office. Dr. Kornafel requires nearly everyone to pay $100 for an ultrasound. I never received an ultrasound report. Dr. Kornafel boasts that most women complain the ultrasound is painful. In my opinion, she seems to enjoy performing ultrasounds in an almost sadistic way. She also boasts about telling insurance companies that an ultrasound was needed because the patient was too overweight for a pelvic examination. Really? Is that not fraud? When I requested a medication that no longer requires a prescription, I was berated for no reason. When I asked where I could find the medication over the counter, she replied dismissively, “There is a thing called Google. Look it up yourself.” To this day, I still do not know what I said or did to warrant such mistreatment. I have never been rude to any of my doctors. The strange part is that I enjoyed hearing stories about her daughter and her sweet dog. Dr. Kornafel spoke about reminding her medical students always to be kind to patients. So much for kindness. Do not waste your time or money on this doctor.
