I do not usually write negative reviews, but I feel it is important to share the billing and refund problems I encountered at Plaza OBGYN. I previously purchased a maternity package at Plaza OBGYN, but because of repeated doctor changes and problems with follow-up care, I ultimately did not deliver there. I was also told I was too far along in my pregnancy to transfer to another doctor within the practice. Since October 2025, I have been trying to obtain the remaining refund of approximately $500. Over several months, I called repeatedly and sent a formal written email, but I still have not received a response or resolution. I understand that clinics are busy, but the prolonged lack of communication about the refund is extremely frustrating.

Good luck getting an appointment. I have been calling since last week and also completed the online appointment request form. By the way, I am an established patient. 😂 Please hire a new receptionist as soon as possible—someone who can at least answer the phone or return calls after multiple messages.

My experience at this clinic was terrible. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and have been seeing Dr. Bharat since I was 9 weeks pregnant, beginning February 20, 2026. Because this is my second pregnancy, I know how prenatal visits and ultrasounds should be conducted. I found every ultrasound extremely rushed, feeling like it lasted less than 30 seconds. The equipment was not advanced, and the images were unclear. He seemed more concerned about my fiancé than about me, the pregnant patient. He did not review my laboratory results carefully and forgot to tell me that my iron was low. Instead, as I was checking out, he sent his nurse into the hallway to tell me I needed to buy iron tablets. At my last ultrasound on April 29, 2026, I mentioned that it felt rushed. Rather than taking my concern seriously, he mocked me as though he were doing me a favor, when it seemed he only wanted money from my insurance. The nurse had just brought my blood pressure down to a normal level, but he raised it again. When he retook my blood pressure, he pinched my arm hard even though a gentle pinch would have been enough. I knew then that he was deliberately making things difficult for me. He told me that at my next follow-up he would refer me to another doctor for a “better scan.” When I told him I was already looking for another doctor, he began playing games again. Even my fiancé noticed his behavior. A follow-up appointment should have been scheduled until the referral was completed, but he refused even to schedule one. I therefore submitted a referral form immediately on May 1 and was told the referring doctor would process it within 7-10 business days. On May 4, I had a severe allergic reaction that caused extensive inflammation and swelling throughout my body, leaving me unable to walk or work for an entire week. I went to the emergency room on May 5 because my last interaction with Dr. Bharat made me very uncomfortable and I did not want to return. The issue was not resolved, and I eventually had to recover on my own and struggle back to work. On Monday, May 11, I scheduled a new-patient follow-up at Complete Women's Care Center. They arranged a follow-up to better meet my needs but also told me that my medical forms had not yet been sent to my chosen doctor. On May 12, I called Plaza Obgyn for an update and was told it would take 7 to 10 days; today, May 15, was the 10th day. I called again this afternoon and was sent to voicemail three times. Ten seconds later, I called from my work phone and someone answered immediately, making it seem as though my number had been deliberately routed to voicemail. I asked for the woman who had previously discussed the forms with me but was told she was out of the office until Tuesday. I explained that I had just experienced a medical emergency and needed to know whether my forms had been released so I could reschedule with my preferred doctor. She said she could not help and there was no one else I could ask. I deeply regret choosing this clinic. Dealing with this has caused me tremendous stress. They have no compassion for patients' needs. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I prepared for my appointment and checked in online, but the system had several bugs—do not use the back button—or it would log me out. As a new patient, I completed all the information, but I did not realize there was no parking information. No one gave me directions. You cannot park on the first floor and must park on the second. My card was charged, but I did not realize it was a parking fee because I had provided no information; the amount was automatically debited through my Metro account. I immediately reported fraud because I did not expect a charge upon entering. Otherwise, you can only park outside the building at your own risk. I am sure the doctors are skilled given their good reviews, but greater transparency and clearer guidance would help. I canceled my appointment and now have to wait 7 days for a new card.

This hospital really needs to improve its management, especially for receiving new patients, parking directions, following up on laboratory results, and overall service attitude. I had to handle matters myself that the front desk should have managed, which was frustrating. Staff members could also be somewhat rude at times.

This was the worst experience of my life! The women at the front desk were rude and hung up every time I called. The calls were not being disconnected; they repeatedly hung up. Worse, I visited on February 9, and it is now February 24. More than two weeks have passed, and no one has contacted me with my results. Whenever I call, they hang up. This is extremely unprofessional and frustrating. They were completely unhelpful, and I will never return. I just called again, and a woman named Ashley was very disrespectful and rude. I told her I had just been disconnected, and she told me to stop calling, then hung up again. Ashley, you are extremely unprofessional. Please improve and hire professional staff.

Dr. M. Barat is an excellent doctor. He is highly skilled, kind, knowledgeable, and patiently answered all my questions. He consistently went above and beyond. I will definitely return—he is the doctor I was looking for!

This clinic is wonderful! I saw both Dr. Barats, father and son, and felt very reassured by their expertise. They were both patient, knowledgeable, and kind. The clinic is also in an excellent location, right next to the Museum District.

They did not answer any of my questions, follow up with me, or return my call. When I called, no one helped resolve anything. Nothing was paid.

Alexa has always provided prompt, professional service at Plaza OB/GYN and its affiliated clinics, and I was thrilled to hear she had returned. When I contacted her today, she took time to ensure I fully understood my medications, which I greatly appreciated. Her return is wonderful news. My sincere thanks to Alexa for always following up and for being so kind, knowledgeable, prompt, and caring. I have been Dr. I. I have been a patient of Dr. Isam Balat for more than 25 years, and every visit has been very positive. He is a wonderful, highly professional doctor with an excellent bedside manner. I have seen Dr. Issam Balat for many years, and he has helped me with fibroids, fertility planning, and more. He is thorough, kind, and responsive. His patient care is unmatched. I am very grateful to him.

Dr. Anika Galagoda is the best OB-GYN I have ever met!! She is extremely thorough and listens carefully. I feel that she takes everything seriously and never dismisses concerns. She is also compassionate and understanding, and she works to find a solution to any concern. She performed my C-section three months ago and took it very seriously. She completed that major surgery perfectly and without a scar. I love this doctor and wish she could also be my primary care doctor, dentist, and everything else.

Dr. Sam Balat is professional, attentive, thorough, and an excellent person and physician. He has treated my gynecologic conditions for 35 years. He recently retired and has now returned, and I was very happy to see him. He is the best gynecologist in Texas. His staff are also professional and courteous. I am very grateful to Dr. Islam Balat. I have been his patient for 25 years. At every visit, he makes me feel comfortable and genuinely cared for. He listens without judgment, explains everything thoroughly, and always ensures I leave reassured. It is rare to find a doctor who is both so professional and compassionate. I feel very fortunate to have him as my gynecologist.

I have been treated by Dr. Balat for 37 years. Dr. Balat is what you would call an angel, an excellent doctor above the rest. I had the opportunity to meet his son, who will certainly follow in his father's footsteps. He was very pleasant and made me comfortable. Both are wonderful!

Dr. M. Balat was generally good, but he forgot to mention that I needed an injection during pregnancy, which meant my baby needed one after birth. I often had to ask for information instead of receiving it proactively, which is difficult for a first-time mother. The billing department was also a mess throughout my pregnancy and frustrating to deal with. I will not return for future pregnancies.

Two doctors canceled my appointments in a row. Why are so many doctors leaving your practice? This is my first child, and I am desperately trying to find a doctor in the area. Why is it so difficult?

Dr. Michael Balat is wonderful. He is kind, understanding, and truly listens. His calm, compassionate manner makes every visit comfortable. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend him!

This office is wonderful! All the staff are friendly and professional. I especially want to thank Dr. Balat for everything he did from my pregnancy through delivery. I recommend Anika Galagoda, MD, as an OB, 10/10. She listens and provides plenty of information. She is confident and cool. She looks young, so I was nervous at first, but she was highly professional and handled everything! My C-section scar healed seamlessly, and we delivered my daughter without any problems.
