Présentation du médecin

Dr Scott Slayden, États-Unis

Le Dr Slayden appartient à l'American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), à l'American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) et à la Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. Il possède plus de 20 années d'expérience dans l'infertilité, précédées de 10 années de soins obstétricaux et d'accouchements.

I cannot praise Reproductive Biology Associates highly enough. They have one portal containing everything needed to begin, continue, and complete your journey. Being able to email my team at any time and receive a response within hours was exceptional. Everyone was wonderful on the day of the procedure. The nurse explained the full process. The anesthesiologist reviewed my medical history and explained the sedation used. She confirmed I had no concerns and asked whether I wanted any changes to the IV medication. I appreciated this personalized attention to detail. The doctor then explained what he would do, invited questions, and answered them clearly. After the procedure, the doctor returned to explain how it went and how many eggs were retrieved. I appreciated that everyone asked about allergies while double-checking my chart. Every employee's care and attention to detail impressed me. As someone with anxiety, I was nervous about the procedure. Their patience, explanations, and attention to detail made me comfortable and reassured. From my first call until they helped me into the car after the procedure, I felt 100% cared for.

Do not go here. This clinic sees you only as a dollar sign. During our first conversation, I was told in writing that we would have 3 IUI cycles if needed. No one said the price would change. Then they suddenly raised the cost to $2,700 without telling me. When I sought answers, I was completely ignored. I called for a week asking to speak with a manager, but no one returned my calls. I finally found an email address in a review, and someone contacted me and promised to work with me—then ignored me again. Beyond the improper pricing and lack of transparency, the care was equally poor. Our third IUI failed, and no one followed up, asked what happened, or showed concern. We were simply another number on a spreadsheet. I have since transferred to Bloom Reproductive Institute, where I was truly heard. I explained everything that happened and the pain I still felt. They immediately referred me to a reproductive surgeon, who found serious issues requiring treatment—issues this place completely missed or ignored. Do not waste your time, money, or hope here. Find a clinic that truly listens and treats you like a person, not a paycheck.

I love RBA and its staff. They were professional, informative, and responsive at every step of my IVF journey. I could rely on them throughout the process. They brought me genuine joy, and I would not entrust my care to another practice. They are the best! I look forward to continuing our journey this year and crossing the finish line. Thank you, RBA 💙

I had a wonderful appointment at the fertility clinic. My nurse practitioner was warm, thoughtful, and spoke with genuine care. She made me feel like a person, not just a patient, took time to address all my needs, and explained everything clearly. She was both knowledgeable and very kind. The phlebotomist was equally lovely—gentle, professional, and kind. The office was clean and welcoming, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I felt truly heard, seen, and cared for. I feel reassured and confident about my PCOS and fertility concerns, knowing I have such compassionate support.

I was formerly a patient here and would not wish this experience on anyone. The doctors are excellent but nearly impossible to reach directly. The real problem is staff communication—there is none. Calls go unanswered, portal messages may take a full business day or longer, and replies are generic. We had to visit the office in person to speak with someone. During IVF, this lack of communication was especially stressful. A pharmacy error caused me to miss a cycle day. When I contacted them immediately, I was told to wait until the next month, essentially skipping a cycle, even though the medication was available at another local pharmacy. I did not learn until my second cycle that they could have helped if the right nurse had answered. Even after triple-checking everything for the second cycle, I was told after starting injections that I lacked a medication never mentioned in the protocol. Panicking at the airport, I was again told to cancel. I had to fight for a solution, spend hours calling, and personally push for emergency overnight delivery. It was a nightmare. They charge a nonrefundable $750 cycle-coordination fee each cycle but provide almost no coordination. No one contacted me about the second cycle's results; weeks later, I only received a message saying all embryos were abnormal after I requested an update. No explanation and no empathy. Follow-up is slow and frustrating when you are trying to schedule around your cycle. If my embryos were not frozen here, I would go elsewhere. Thankfully, our transfer succeeded and we are no longer involved with RBA. Yet I am still receiving bills from last year. My colleague even received a bill 1.5 years after her child was born. To RBA: your doctors may be excellent, but your communication and staff coordination are completely unacceptable. Patients deserve to speak with people, not seek care through an app.

We are extremely grateful to Dr. Shapiro and the entire clinic team! From our first visit, we felt warmly welcomed, supported, and genuinely cared for. Every staff member we met was kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Dr. Shapiro patiently explained each step of the process and ensured we felt comfortable and fully informed. The entire clinic runs very smoothly, and you can truly feel how much every doctor cares for their patients. It offers everything you could want in a fertility clinic: professional, warm, personalized care. We are so grateful we found them! Highly recommended to anyone beginning a fertility journey.

The doctor was wonderful and very professional. I cannot wait to see the results.

Infertility is incredibly difficult, but RBA helped us tremendously. We are so grateful for our daughter and hope she will have siblings in the future. If you need someone to talk to about infertility, follow my Instagram account @tolkiengetsasibling. I am happy to answer any questions!

I had an excellent experience here. Monica Best's staff were outstanding and made me feel comfortable while helping me understand my body and fertility. They are in the business of changing lives, so they may not be available by phone around the clock, but I found messaging through the app very convenient. Honestly, I prefer it because it saves time. You simply send a message and receive a response within a few hours. If I forget an answer or instruction, I can easily refer back to the message. Overall, I give this clinic 10/10!

They are truly exceptional. The staff are outstanding and genuinely care for their patients.

As someone currently undergoing IVF, I want to post real-time updates. I will update again when treatment is complete, hoping this helps future mothers. I can confirm that some of the negative comments are true. Communication is terrible! They use an app for everything, but apart from responses and messages, you do not know what has been posted because no one tells you it contains treatment plans, consent forms requiring signatures, or educational modules. If you are just starting, explore the app because it may answer your questions. Even with insurance, billing is not straightforward and claims may be denied. You must follow up yourself because, unlike many other clinics, they will not. They charge a coordination fee and then coordinate nothing. I understand insurance billing is complicated, but since paying and getting started, I have had to call the clinic, pharmacy, or insurer every day or nothing gets done. They also use a pharmacy liaison company, cloud RX, which sends medications to the appropriate pharmacy based on insurance or self-pay. If I had not spoken with a supervisor at cloud Rx to correct errors, their initial staff would have completely misled me. The hardest part is that you are supposed to manage your stress throughout an already stressful process. I agree that they treat you like a number. I received a PGT testing bill for more than $4000 before they explained the purpose of the test. Until the bill was paid, I could not get answers about the specimen calendar requiring me to come into town or anything else. I understand this to some extent, but I had been waiting for responses because of insurance and their billing team. Positives: nurse consultant Dr. Rubin and most nurses have been very helpful and kind. I believe Michelle at the Buckhead office who answers calls is also kind and tries to help. I do not blame them personally for poor management or communication, but communication gaps clearly exist. The clinic would benefit greatly from better patient communication. My attention to detail and follow-up may be the only reason I did not miss this cycle. P.S. In my experience, ACRM's billing and patient care are no better. I chose this practice entirely because of my experience with Dr. Rubin and her nurse. I will update again after treatment.

The receptionist was very kind, and the doctor was friendly and professional. I appreciated that.

We struggled with secondary infertility for 14 years. I consulted other doctors who recommended RBA. It was the best decision we ever made. Our miracle is about to turn 8. I highly recommend them.
17/09/2025
Dr. Erin Lewis is the best. She ensured that my husband and I were fully informed and comfortable. Her nurse followed up with me every day. Although treatment was difficult, they encouraged me to stay strong and remember the positive aspects. I absolutely love Dr. Lewis.

Same-sex couples, be aware: this place does not have your best interests at heart. I waited more than 2 years to write this review because I feared retaliation. We know many people who used RBA and had similar experiences. I want to say that we liked our clinician and ultimately succeeded. However, this place will cause considerable stress, sadness, tears, and frustration. Most importantly, they will not advocate for you and will extract every dollar they can. Problems: - Nursing staff were rude and disorganized. A nurse spoke condescendingly to our surrogate and provided poor instructions. We paid thousands of dollars extra for unnecessary procedures and medications, which our doctor confirmed. They eventually transferred the nurse to another department. Thankfully, the new nurse was much better, but the damage had been done. - Business office: terrible. They told us one thing and billed the opposite. The billing system was a mess. The app showed one amount while mailed bills showed another, and no one told us what we owed. We bought expensive packages, but they did not clearly explain what was and was not included. They assumed everyone was self-pay, yet none of the package documents stated this clearly. Their documents need itemized details for each process and clarification of what insured patients can use. This left us with thousands of dollars in extra charges. I repeatedly explained that insurance covered these costs, but they kept billing us. After we changed clinics, the new clinic worked with our insurer and advocated for us. I am glad we switched because we no longer had extra costs. - We spent more than $40,000 on a package for two surrogate pregnancies. When we prepared to begin the second journey this year, they demanded another $5,000, despite being obligated to honor last year's package. This is why we left RBA. I could no longer tolerate Prelude's lies and manipulation at RBA. They did not even notify us in advance, simply adding false fees to everything. - The specialty pharmacy they directed us to charged outrageous prices. We raised this several times. Some medications cost $700 per vial. We later learned they had an agreement with a California pharmacy offering the same medication for $200, but they never told us or offered financial assistance. - They destroyed our samples, and laboratory staff negligence forced us to return. In short, if you have enough time and money, you may succeed through RBA. I am deeply grateful for our child, but I tell everyone not to use them if you need a gestational carrier.

She was very friendly and professional, understood our needs completely, and immediately began developing a plan. I look forward to working with her again at future appointments.

Apparently, I am not the only one who has had serious problems with this clinic. Over the past 8 months, my partner and I have undergone countless tests, medical visits, and ultrasounds, spending thousands of dollars. Yet we still have no confirmed diagnosis or viable treatment plan. Communication throughout the clinic is terrible. Trying to reach anyone through the app is futile, and the staff we met at the clinic were equally unhelpful and indifferent. We are already struggling to conceive and have a child, and now we must endure all the delays and problems caused by this clinic. It is unacceptable. The ongoing poor communication and lack of progress have left us exhausted and deeply frustrated. I decided to read all the reviews, and it is heartbreaking to see so many couples experiencing the same pain. The way this clinic handles such sensitive matters is outrageous!

A very helpful and excellent visit. I appreciate her.
05/12/2025
We were very dissatisfied with this clinic! We were referred to Dr. Witt for a fertility consultation. The first consultation lasted less than five minutes, and the staff rushed us out, even turning off the lights and locking the doors so they had to unlock them when we left. After several tests, they charged $200 for a phone call lasting less than a minute. At the second visit, my husband had an ultrasound and asked the doctor several questions. After the examination, staff essentially told him that Dr. Witt was too busy to answer. Dr. Witt said he would call my husband later that day to discuss the questions. Two hours later, the front desk called my husband and said we would have to pay another $200 for a phone appointment to discuss our questions with Dr. Witt. They would not take the time to communicate with patients or answer questions and instead dismissed us yet again!
27/11/2025
Judging from other reviews, they like responding to negative feedback with the same generic “We are sorry; we will improve” message, but nothing actually changes. Communication is truly terrible. Their patient care coordinators need proper training because the entire system is a mess. Everything must be handled through the app, and getting a clear answer is nearly impossible. They answer half a question, disappear for hours, and force you to follow up for the rest. Honestly, it often feels as though someone is answering from their bedroom while watching Netflix without really reviewing my chart. Their tone is cold, mechanical, unenthusiastic, and insincere. Worst of all, every message feels like speaking with someone who has never read your chart. I requested an ultrasound, and they tried to schedule bloodwork I had already completed. It feels as though they neither review nor remember anything in the record. They forget details you have already reminded them about, and so on. There is a clear disconnect among the staff, doctors, and your actual treatment plan. During fertility treatment, this level of confusion is not merely frustrating but discouraging. Patients should not feel like items on an assembly line, handled by people who barely understand their condition.

The infertility journey is difficult, and we are very glad we chose Reproductive Biology Associates of Atlanta. Sophie is meticulous, patient, thoughtful, and highly professional. She is very knowledgeable and patiently answered all my questions. Although we are still early in the process, RBA has made everything very smooth.

I am very pleased that I chose RBA for IVF, especially Dr. Best. My experience was excellent. Many thanks to Dr. Best and his team.
03/02/2026
My appointment was at 1:00 p.m., and I arrived at 12:31 to be on time. I followed all pre-appointment instructions, including taking ibuprofen and completing bloodwork, then was told to wait. Several patients who arrived later were seen first. At 1:55, I still had not seen the doctor. The medication had worn off, and because I was told not to use the restroom so I could provide a urine sample, I had to hold my bladder for a long time. I felt that my time and comfort were not respected. If this is the standard of care, what is the point of an appointment? Update: It is now 2:17 p.m., still with no information. I appreciate the receptionist, who was very kind and thoughtful. Update: The staff were extremely nice and attentive and answered every question. I finally saw the doctor; the delay was due to technical problems, so I changed my rating from 1 star to 4.
21/01/2026
In our experience, we strongly recommend staying away from this clinic. This was a significant waste of our time, money, and emotional energy. We had a deeply disappointing experience and paid for services that did not meet our expectations. If you are considering this clinic, do yourself a favor before making a decision and read the other reviews. I am not the only one who has gone through this. Seeing the same patterns repeated by multiple patients is a major red flag and should be taken seriously before choosing to move forward with this place. Going through fertility treatment is already emotionally exhausting, and our experience here only added more stress. We felt rushed, dismissed, and unsupported throughout the process. Communication was poor, and both the medical and administrative staff made us feel like our concerns were not a priority. From our perspective, the focus appeared to be more on billing than on patient care. After payment, we felt like just another case rather than people going through a vulnerable moment. This is our honest personal experience, and we would not choose this clinic again. We strongly encourage others to carefully evaluate their options and avoid this clinic.

I had not planned to write a review because my doctor was excellent—I genuinely liked her and felt cared for. Unfortunately, during egg retrieval you see the doctor only once or twice. Everything else was among my worst healthcare experiences. Repeated requests to discuss important issues were largely ignored. Only my doctor took me seriously and said she would escalate my concerns. My experience included misrepresented services, unexpected bills, and serious HIPAA violations. An anesthesiologist confused me with another patient and then disclosed that patient's medical history while explaining the mistake. Repeated communication failures caused financial loss, needless stress, and poorer care. Once, my specialist urgently called the weekend answering service to reach my doctor. The message was neither delivered nor routed to the on-call doctor, so nobody contacted him. Doctors do not usually call on weekends unless it is urgent, and this was. I believe my doctor would have responded if informed. Other issues included: • A $280 lab charge for testing I never received, despite uploading results from my own doctor that cost about $30. I had to spend time disputing it. • Promised billing calls never occurred. • Repeated pricing errors. An FDA examination price was documented by email, yet I was overcharged and had to show staff their own email before they honored it. Some staff were pleasant, but the administrative and billing processes lacked coordination and transparency and disregarded patient safety. I may update this review, but currently cannot recommend the clinic. The quoted and actual charges differed greatly, so I paid far more than expected. Communication remained poor, my request for complete records was not fulfilled, and another doctor involved in my excision surgery seemed rushed, cold, and unethical.

So far, we have only completed the consultation and lab work. After the initial consultation, however, we knew that choosing Dr. Jamie Merkison as our physician was the right decision. She was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. We look forward to beginning this journey under her guidance.

After a terrible clinical experience and poor management at another fertility clinic, my primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Shapiro at RBA Fertility. He is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled doctors I have met, especially with complex cases. Dr. Shapiro never avoids a challenge; his clinical insight is exceptional, his decisions are clear and efficient, and he makes the entire treatment process feel smooth and thoughtful. For patients who have been told their case is “too complex” for treatment elsewhere, RBA offers customized packages that can save thousands of dollars and make care more accessible. I have just begun my treatment journey at RBA, but I feel very well cared for. I will continue to share updates.
27/03/2026
My husband and I left this appointment feeling very confident. We got really positive news and the provider we saw was excellent at giving us information we needed and helping us move forward in the right direction to get answers. Dr. Jamie was so nice and very up front with us she didn’t sugar coat anything which is what we needed. I highly recommend seeing this provider for sure she takes time with you and really hears you out.

Our relationship with RBA began with an extremely difficult and emotional egg retrieval journey marked by poor communication. However, I believe growth deserves recognition, and things have improved significantly since then. Every subsequent experience has been wonderful. Throughout three retrievals, Dr. Shapiro showed tremendous care and understanding. Although the first two failed, we are now hopefully awaiting the results of the third. Special thanks to Chloe—she is an absolute gem and handles my particular quirks and awkwardness with such grace and professionalism! All the staff are outstanding. I especially want to recognize the phlebotomist by the window; she is so thoughtful that she even considers which side to use for blood draws because I bruise easily. Even the on-call team responds promptly and professionally. As someone who works in healthcare, I know front desk staff are often recognized last—so I see you! They arrive early and have seen me disheveled after a 90-minute drive at 7 a.m., yet they are always kind, smiling, and welcoming. For anyone beginning this journey: remember that it is emotional and success is not guaranteed. You need support. RBA has been a strong partner, and we sincerely hope for a miracle! ☺️

I really like RBA so far! I visit the cumming office the most and I like the friendly atmosphere from all the staff. The IVF process is a confusing and overwhelming one but with the prelude app the team is extremely responsive and answers all of my silly questions. Dr Straub is great! He is not someone who is going to comfort you but will give you the facts and draws diagrams and charts to help you better understand. My first cycle is next month and I am confident I selected the right team to get me through this journey.
15/04/2026
Terrible experience. Their diagnoses were generic, unsupported, and ignored my individual circumstances. At the first visit they said the male-factor issue would be easy to address; at the second, they said it might not be. They ignored information that could affect treatment, such as whether testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) might reduce fertility. The doctor called after testing to discuss follow-up but did not even know the results. He said he had uploaded them and that I should review them myself. A: there were no results in the system. B: give me ten years of medical school and I can interpret them myself. What is the point of paying thousands out of pocket for this? More absurdly, children are banned from the waiting room because they might upset others. Are infertile people, including me now, expected never to leave home? They do not even discount parking, haha.
15/04/2026
RBA helped my husband and me receive life's most precious gift—our son. Everyone we met there treated us with kindness and compassion and understood the unique nature of our circumstances.
14/04/2026
Check-in at the front desk was very quick. We waited less than 5 minutes to see Dr. Jamie Merkison, which was convenient and reflected the clinic's excellent time management. Dr. Merkison was warm and friendly, listened patiently to our needs and concerns, and answered many of our questions. Thank you very much!

This review is specifically about my experience with Brittney, my X-ray ultrasound technologist. During my visit, Brittney provided exceptionally attentive, considerate, and thorough care. She was reassuring, patient, and extremely helpful, so I wanted to share my positive experience with her. I told her that RBA is fortunate to have such a caring, empathetic, and detail-oriented employee. Thank you, Brittney—I do not know her last name.

I was very nervous at my first appointment and did not know what to expect. I usually like to plan and research ahead, so I knew a little about the appointment process and what to keep in mind. I was very pleased with how attentive and thorough the staff were at my first visit. I was glad to speak with Dr. Jamie Morkinson and learn more about the process and expected outcomes. I highly recommend Dr. Morkinson.

We love Dr. Slayden. Our primary doctor is Jessica Rubin, who is also wonderful and works at the same practice. Whenever Dr. Slayden sees us, we know we are in excellent hands. Thank you so much to the RBA team for supporting our fertility journey!

I have only had one consultation so far, but he was wonderful. I appreciated that he wanted to learn about my husband and me before we began treatment. He also answered all my questions, was very helpful, and had an excellent manner.
24/06/2024
Dr. Slayden is a wonderful person overall. I enjoyed speaking with him and learning about the next steps in my fertility journey.
12/08/2024
Dr. Slayden asked all the right questions, offered excellent advice, and made my husband and me feel very comfortable during the consultation.
21/10/2024
My experience with Dr. Slayden and the outstanding RBA team has been amazing! Dr. Slayden's manner is very compassionate, making every appointment informative and reassuring. He takes time to explain each step, sincerely answers every question, and addresses concerns. Even from one conversation, you can sense his genuine dedication to his patients. You truly could not find a better doctor for this journey. I also want to mention nurses Lizzie and Dee, who were absolute gems throughout the process. I do not think they realize how much they affect people's lives. Their warmth and support created an atmosphere that eased my anxiety during such a stressful time. They were always responsive and provided help and encouragement whenever I needed it. I am currently undergoing IVF stimulation, so my journey is far from over, but I wanted to share my experience so far with this clinic and its excellent staff. I am grateful for the exceptional care I have received and highly recommend them to anyone seeking fertility assistance!

He is a very good and knowledgeable doctor. However, after countless tests and an attempted IUI that we abandoned because my body did not respond, he said, and I quote, “All you need to do is lose weight and you will get pregnant.” Since then, I have had excision surgery with a specialist, lost 105 pounds, far more than the 10% he asked me to lose and now within a healthy range, and taken all prescribed medications, but I am still not pregnant. This is not meant to discourage patients from seeing him, but he does appear to be the kind of doctor who simply blames your weight, although it clearly was not my issue.
