Présentation du médecin

Arlene J. Morales, États-Unis

I do not recommend it.
14/11/2024
FSMG is a compassionate, responsive, patient-centered clinic. I felt the care I received was first-rate. Dr. Médica in particular was very kind and considerate. I am extremely anxious about medical issues, and because of her, I felt confident undergoing the retrieval procedure. She is highly capable and understanding. She answered all my questions kindly and clearly. We delayed the egg-retrieval process because I was anxious about it, and she was very patient and never pressured me. I made mistakes with my medication, and the pharmacy had several delays—FSMG always had a solution and tried to help me. All the nurses, coordinators, receptionists, other doctors, and staff were helpful, responsive, and kind. I am very grateful that FSMG prioritized my care and safety and sincerely recommend them. If I am successful, I wish Dr. Médica could be my obstetrician—that is how much I appreciate her. Thank you, FSMG!

Not a good company. Their paperwork, which repeats several questions in a lengthy form and wastes clients' time, and their financial disclosures and customer service are very unprofessional. Dee and Denise, I believe those were their names, were very unprofessional with me on the phone. Dee repeatedly interrupted me and told me all their patients understand their insurance coverage. They are neither kind nor professional. Avoid them.

I strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to reconsider carefully. My experience was very disappointing, and genuine, personalized care is essential. Although Dr. Shelly was polite, it was clear that her engagement lacked sincerity and commitment. This facility does not prioritize meaningful interaction or individualized support. For your well-being and satisfaction, find a provider truly committed to listening and meeting your needs. Your time and resources are valuable—invest them where people genuinely care and support you.

I am truly disappointed with my experience at this location. I will start by saying that my initial consultation and first in-person appointment with Dr. Shelly went well. She was kind. However, this was my recent experience: During my initial consultation and ultrasound appointments on May 17 and May 28, I told Dr. Shelly that my husband and I would be moving to the East Coast on July 1, so this was essentially our one opportunity before leaving. During the ultrasound, she assured me that everything looked good and that all I needed was updated blood work and to call when my period began, or, if it did not begin, still call for blood work to check for pregnancy. On June 17, I called to tell them my period had started on June 16. Since the office was closed Sunday, I called Monday. The front desk informed me that they “saw I had canceled the follow-up virtual meeting required to begin an IUI cycle.” I explained that I had not been told this; otherwise, I would have kept the follow-up. I was then told my doctor was on vacation for three weeks and would not return until July 5. I was shocked because this had never been mentioned when I told her on two separate occasions that we were moving July 1 and wanted to complete a cycle before leaving. After hearing this very disappointing news, I was told they would try to arrange for me to see another doctor and that I should expect a call from a coordinator within an hour. They also said to call if I had not heard from them by 1 p.m. At around 1 p.m., there had been no call, so I called them. Their machine answered, and I had to leave a voicemail. Because of the disorganized information and lack of urgency in correcting the situation, I will have to miss this cycle and entrust this sensitive matter to someone else. Very disappointed.

I have worked in healthcare for many years and have never experienced such poor service. The only kind person here is Dr. Sherry, but Dr. Morales is purely money-driven and lacks empathy. She refuses direct contact and will not respond to any patient without an additional payment. I paid for a misleading consultation, and when I asked the front desk a follow-up question about the same appointment, I was told I needed to book and pay for another consultation. (If any medical malpractice attorneys are reading this, please investigate this clinic.) This is by far the worst clinic I have visited. They lure you in with treatment, and once you have invested time, you become trapped with a provider who continually takes and gives nothing back. The reviews speak for themselves—this place is terrible. The receptionist, Irene, may be the worst of them. She deliberately says things that upset patients. For example: Me: One of my consultations was interrupted because the call disconnected. Can you help me reschedule and waive the payment? Irene: No, you have to pay again. The second time, I called about another issue: Me: I had a follicle count last year, but your practice never responded. Can someone help me? I do not want to pay twice because of your company's negligence. Irene: You have to start over because it has been a year. She then mentioned that she could transfer me to finance for more information, but that had nothing to do with my concern. My call with Dr. Morales was also disconnected because of poor reception. When I rescheduled, they billed my insurance twice for more than $100 and required me to pay the deposit twice. On top of that, they were undergoing internal changes but failed to inform me of my results. I eventually went to another fertility clinic, where things were much better, but they advised me to stay with one provider because several procedures had already been performed. So I reluctantly returned here, only to be told that because it had been almost a year, and because of their lack of organization, I needed to repeat all the procedures and pay the original amount again. At this point, I may gather other patients to share their experiences and explore possible action, because this clinic should not treat customers this way. Even worse, I had been communicating with Keila, who sent me information and answered emails until she suddenly stopped without warning. There was not even an automated message informing me of her absence. After a month without a response, I contacted the clinic again, and Irene told me: “You should only use our general email because you will not get a response when employees are out of the office.” This is not an acceptable way to handle customer service. When an employee is away, an automatic email should tell patients whom else to contact. Keila was initially handling my case, so how was I supposed to know I needed to switch to the general email? This clinic is disorganized, unethical, and focused only on profit. Avoid it at all costs.

My wife and I have had only one consultation so far, but Dr. Shelly is already one of our favorite specialists. She is highly attentive to detail, understands the specifics of our situation, and communicates details clearly without making them feel overwhelming. We are fortunate to have her as an in-network option!

Stay away from this clinic! I noticed red flags from the beginning and wish I had not ignored them. Go somewhere else covered by your insurance; if you are not using insurance, that is even more reason to avoid this clinic. We had an incident where my partner and another patient received an erroneous email about an appointment we did not actually have (I assume the clinic scheduled it without consulting us, since I could not get off work). The email was sent to my partner and another patient. This serious privacy breach makes me deeply concerned about their overall professionalism and protection of personal health information. We will pursue legal action over this blatant HIPAA violation. I am a healthcare provider myself, so this mistake sickens me. I feel sorry for the patient whose email address, containing her first and last name, was disclosed to my partner. Also, before we completed any testing recommended by Dr. Medica, she told us at our first appointment that “we may need IUI for our first pregnancy,” despite having no test results to support that recommendation. I have read many negative reviews of this clinic that resemble our experience. Do not ignore the warning signs; go elsewhere.

I do not understand the negative reviews of this clinic. I found them after an absolutely terrible experience at UC San Diego, and I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Shelly and her entire team. They supported us through three miscarriages and one pregnancy, and we are now working with them toward #2. Everyone is compassionate and caring, and I have never been asked to pay an unexpected extra fee. I pay once at the start of a cycle, and Dr. Shelly sees me as often as needed. That number varies by cycle, and I do not pay extra for additional ultrasounds or visits. Dr. Shelly and her team respond quickly and thoroughly to every email and call. They are the best team I have ever had. When I cried after learning I had miscarried, they cared for my 5-year-old in the waiting room so he would not have to see me; they wrote him notes and drew pictures for him when I came in for surgery; they hugged me when I was discouraged and sad; and they laughed with me when I was excited and hopeful. I cannot speak for anyone else's experience, and fertility treatment is difficult, but Dr. Shelly and her care team changed everything for us. Please do not let negative reviews sway you. In all my years as their patient, I have never received poor care. Give this team a chance; they truly do wonderful work.

Six years ago, after multiple unsuccessful attempts to conceive naturally, we began our fertility journey. We found Dr. Shelly through our employer benefits, and from our first visit, we knew she would take care of us. She always helped us navigate the weight of the process with ease, and her sense of humor, much like my husband's, always helped us relax. The support team was equally exceptional. Every nurse and staff member made me feel cared for and always encouraged me during blood draws and follow-up visits. That encouragement meant so much during such a difficult process. Today, we have two wonderful children, ages 5 and 18 months. We will always be grateful to Dr. Shelly and her team for giving us the chance to build our family. This clinic will always hold a special place in our hearts!

I have been working with Dr. Shirley for some time, and she is both attentive and kind. This journey has not gone as smoothly as I hoped, but I have always felt seen, cared for, and supported.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Medica and her team. From the moment I entered the clinic, I felt comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for. Her calm, professional manner immediately put me at ease. She explained every step of the process carefully, patiently answered all my questions, and ensured I was fully informed and confident moving forward. Beyond her expertise, what impressed me most was her kindness and genuine compassion. Fertility treatment can feel overwhelming, but she made me feel that I was not facing it alone. The entire staff were equally outstanding—warm, attentive, and highly supportive. Whether at the front desk, with the nurses, or during follow-up, every interaction was positive and reassuring. It is clear that they genuinely care about their patients and work together to provide the best possible experience. I am very grateful to have found Dr. Medica and her excellent team. They made this journey much easier, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking fertility care.

It was our first visit, and it is rare to actually see a doctor. Usually the providers have master's degrees and technician qualifications, but we met Dr. Shirley, who was warm and friendly. She greeted us with a hug, was funny, and truly felt like a friend. I am glad we found her.

I would not recommend this clinic—proceed at your own risk! We underwent IVF with Dr. Morales this April. Her waiting area displays many awards. Throughout treatment, we told her we wanted a fresh embryo transfer because it was included in the package, which could not be customized. She scheduled another appointment to discuss it and ensure we understood the process. We also worked with IVF nurse Alexa. After I confirmed that her instructions differed from what the doctor had told us, she still gave me incorrect directions for a medication and insisted I continue taking it. At my next follow-up, after I had taken it for several days, Dr. Morales said I should not have taken it, but assured me it was fine and that they could correct the issue with a different medication. They prescribed several medications but never told me to take them. I eventually came to the clinic daily, sometimes at any available time because Dr. Morales was fully booked. I saw her only twice during IVF; another doctor handled the rest. Neither would answer follow-up questions, and they rushed us out after at most five minutes before bloodwork. They also performed a saline ultrasound to ensure my uterus was clear for a fresh transfer. They found two small polyps and “adhesions.” We recorded the ultrasound, and at home the “adhesions” appeared to be caused by the injected saline. At my second visit with Dr. Morales, I had to ask about the results because she did not intend to discuss them. She said we needed another appointment to confirm the findings. My progesterone level was also not good, making a fresh transfer unlikely. At the next appointment, she explained that, due to the two small polyps, adhesions, and progesterone level, she would not perform the transfer. I asked what the point of prescribing progesterone suppositories was and whether they could maintain my progesterone to support pregnancy, but she did not answer. She did everything possible to prevent our desired fresh transfer. We therefore had to pay another $3,000–$5,000 for a frozen embryo transfer. If you are ineligible for a fresh transfer, you receive no refund and must pay more for a frozen transfer. This seemed absurd and made no sense, but it was too late to back out. On egg-retrieval day, we met the embryologist and retrieval doctor, who was not Dr. Morales, in the preoperative room. Before even receiving my eggs or my partner's sperm, the embryologist said, “You will be lucky to get one embryo; you will probably get none.” It felt as if they had already planned for our cycle to fail. They retrieved 10 eggs; 9 were mature and 5 fertilized. Development slowed on day 3. After more than 7 days, we received a call saying they had discarded the fertilized eggs because none developed into blastocysts. They did not offer to investigate why, and I do not even know whether testing was possible. In short, we felt deceived. It is unbelievable that none of five fertilized eggs developed fully and that the embryologist predicted before the procedure that we would get none or, if lucky, one. They do not listen. They only follow protocols and do not tailor care to individual needs. Like everyone else, they only want your money. We are devastated.

Dr. Medica provided exceptional care and advice throughout my fertility treatment, and the support team was consistently responsive, efficient, and dedicated. Scheduling and communication by email and phone were seamless. I have only praise for the entire team. If you are unsure, start here—you will be glad you did. Thank you, Dr. Shelley!

Dr. Wendy Shelly has been such an important part of my IVF journey over the past two years. I truly can’t say enough about how much she means to me and my family. She listens so carefully, always makes sure I feel heard, and isn’t afraid to guide me in a different direction when needed. I really respect how she balances compassion with honesty. She delivers news in a way that makes me feel safe and supported, no matter what the update is. My husband is just as big of a fan of hers as I am, which says a lot about the kind of care she provides. One of my favorite things about Dr. Shelly is her constant communication. She is always present, responsive, and fully invested, and she has truly never let me down. If you’re looking for a doctor who will work incredibly hard for you and stand by you through every step of your fertility journey, she is absolutely that person. I’m so grateful for everything she does and hope she continues this important, life-changing work for so many other women like me.

We cannot say enough good things about FSMG! We had the privilege of working with Dr. Morales, and our daughter is due sometime in 2026, during 12. We are deeply grateful to her. Dr. Morales is exceptionally knowledgeable and dedicated to her work. After meeting with her, you immediately recognize her expertise in the field. At times, I would mention a new IVF study I had read about during an appointment, and she was already thoroughly familiar with it—from the researchers to an in-depth interpretation of the findings. Dr. Morales is candid about your specific situation and recommends the best next steps. We once gave her feedback about how some difficult news was delivered. She welcomed our feedback and made adjustments at every subsequent appointment. Everyone has a different communication style, and what could be more reassuring than a doctor who responds to your feedback with an open mind and makes improvements? Throughout the IVF process, the nursing team was extremely supportive and attentive. We are very grateful for their care and for the time they spent ensuring that we understood the next steps, how to measure and inject medications, and what to expect during follow-up. They were all very warm, making the process feel less clinical and more personal. Overall, if you are looking for fertility treatment, we highly recommend FSMG—not only for its excellent team, but also for its treatment outcomes!

I have worked in healthcare for many years and have never experienced such terrible service. The only kind person here is Dr. Shirley, while Dr. Morales is driven by profit and lacks empathy. She refuses to communicate directly with patients and will not respond to them without charging an additional fee. I paid for a consultation but received incorrect information. When I contacted the front desk with a follow-up question related to that appointment, they told me I would need to schedule and pay for another consultation. If any medical malpractice attorneys are reading this, please investigate this clinic. This is absolutely the worst clinic I have ever visited. They draw you in with different treatment plans, but once you have invested your time, you are stuck with a doctor who only takes and gives nothing in return. The reviews say it all—this place is awful. The receptionist, Eileen, may be the worst of all. She deliberately says things to provoke patients. For example: Me: One of my consultations was cut short because of a connection problem. Could you help me reschedule it and waive the fee? Eileen: No, you need to pay again. The second time, I called with another question: Me: I had an antral follicle count last year, but your clinic never followed up with me. Can someone please help me? I do not want to pay twice because of your company's negligence. Eileen: Since a year has passed, you need to do it again. She then offered to transfer me to the finance department for more information, which had nothing to do with my question. A previous appointment with Dr. Morales was disconnected because of poor reception. After I rescheduled, they billed my insurance company more than 100 dollars again and required me to pay the deposit twice. Even worse, they were undergoing internal changes at the time but never informed me of my test results. I eventually went to another fertility clinic that was much better, but they advised me to stay with one doctor because I had already undergone multiple tests. I therefore returned here very reluctantly, only to be told that because nearly a year had passed, I needed to repeat the entire process and pay all the previous fees again due to their lack of organization. At this point, I may gather other patients to share their experiences and discuss possible action, because this clinic should not be allowed to treat clients this way. Even worse, I had been in regular contact with Kayla, who sent me messages and replied to my emails, until she suddenly stopped communicating without warning. The clinic did not even set up an automatic email response to let me know she was unavailable. A month later, I still had not received a response, so I contacted the clinic again, and Eileen told me: "You should email our general inbox directly, because when an employee is away, you will not receive a response." This approach to customer service is unacceptable. If an employee is unavailable, an automatic reply should tell patients to contact someone else. Kayla was handling my case, so how could I have known that I needed to use the general inbox instead? This clinic is disorganized, unethical, and focused solely on profit. Stay away.

She seemed to lack empathy and appeared genuinely tired of her job. It felt like she dismissed my concerns as unreasonable and treated everything as simple.

Like the others said, do not come here. The experience was terrible from first to last. No answers and old-fashioned thinking. Dr. Morales and the team treated me disrespectfully, charged my card, and never responded. We spent $825 and received no answers. This is only the tip of the iceberg of our experience. Avoid this place if possible.

I would not recommend this clinic; proceed at your own risk! We underwent IVF with Dr. Morales in April. Many awards hang in the clinic's waiting area. Throughout treatment, we told her we wanted a fresh embryo transfer because it was included in the package. The package cannot be customized. She scheduled another appointment because we wanted a fresh transfer and needed to discuss the process with us. We also worked with Alexa, the IVF nurse. After I confirmed that her instructions differed from what the doctor had told us at the appointment, she still gave me incorrect medication instructions and insisted I continue taking it. At my next follow-up after several days on the medication, Dr. Morales said I should not have taken it. She assured me that starting another medication at the wrong time was fine and could be corrected with different medication. They prescribed several medications but never told me to take them. I eventually came to the clinic every day. Sometimes I had to accept any available time because Dr. Morales was fully booked. I saw her only twice during IVF treatment; another doctor saw me the rest of the time. Whenever I asked follow-up questions, neither doctor engaged. They rushed us out. Visits lasted at most 5 minutes before bloodwork. They also performed a saline ultrasound to ensure my uterus was clear before a fresh transfer. They found two small polyps and “adhesions.” We recorded the entire ultrasound, and the “adhesions” appeared to be caused by the saline being injected before they took a screenshot. I swear we did not question her during the examination; we only reviewed the video at home. My second visit with Dr. Morales was supposed to discuss the ultrasound results, but she had no intention of discussing them until I asked. She said we needed another appointment to confirm the findings. My progesterone level was also poor, making a fresh transfer unlikely. At another appointment, she explained that based on her ethics, she did not want to transfer an embryo because of the two small polyps, adhesions, and low progesterone. I asked what the point of prescribing progesterone suppositories was. Would they not maintain progesterone to support pregnancy? She did not answer. She did everything possible to prevent our desired fresh embryo transfer. We therefore had to pay another $3-5 thousand for a frozen embryo transfer. If you do not qualify for a fresh transfer, you receive no refund and must pay more for a frozen transfer. I think that is absurd and makes no sense. It was too late for us to back out. On egg retrieval day, we met the embryologist and the retrieval doctor, who was not Dr. Morales, in the preoperative room. The embryologist told us, “You will be lucky to get one embryo, and you may get none.” I wondered why she would say that before they had even collected my eggs or his sperm. It felt as though they had already planned for our cycle to fail. They retrieved 10 eggs; 9 were mature and 5 fertilized and were monitored. Development slowed on day 3, but we did not receive a call until after day 7, when they said they had discarded the fertilized eggs because none developed into blastocysts. They did not offer to investigate why they failed to reach the blastocyst stage so we could understand the reason, and I do not even know whether testing could have identified the issue. In short, we were scammed. It is hard to believe that none of five fertilized eggs developed fully, especially after the embryologist told us before the procedure that we would get no embryos or would be lucky to get one. They do not listen to you. They only follow standard protocols and do not tailor treatment to individual needs. Like everyone else, they only want your money. We are devastated.

We had a very positive experience with Dr. Morales, and I am surprised by some of the negative reviews. After recurrent miscarriages and visits to several hospitals, we finally decided to see a reproductive specialist. She was very understanding and had clearly reviewed my entire medical history carefully before my appointment. She knew exactly which tests we had already completed and which were still needed. She explained everything thoroughly, told us what additional testing was required, and her office helped schedule all our appointments. She tested for issues other doctors had missed, and we ultimately discovered an autoimmune disorder. After receiving the results, she encouraged us to continue trying naturally before proceeding with IUI/IVF because she believed we could conceive again. I was surprised by reviews suggesting she was motivated by money, because our experience was the opposite. She even said, "From a financial standpoint, continuing to try naturally is in your best interest."... After 4 months of trying, we became pregnant. Her clinic did an excellent job arranging early ultrasounds to confirm the pregnancy. When my OB-GYN's office could not schedule me at 10 weeks, I called Dr. Morales, and her team said I could have the 10-week scan there. Ultrasounds after a miscarriage are truly frightening, and Dr. Morales was very supportive and understanding. She is direct, but when it comes to fertility, I want someone who will be honest. We are very grateful to her and her team and would definitely recommend them.

I cannot believe the 2 one-star reviews I read here. The way they describe Dr. Morales is the complete opposite of my two-year experience with her and her staff. She was very kind, had a sense of humor, was helpful, and explained everything to us in detail. We went through 3 IVF cycles, and she and her staff did everything they could to help us obtain the medications we needed. She also directed us to the least expensive pharmacy for costly medications, and her staff told us the cost of each next step before we proceeded. So I do not understand anyone who says she is money-hungry. Perhaps those one-star reviewers do not understand how much IVF costs. My husband and I are so glad we were referred to Dr. Morales! Without her, we would not have our one-year-old baby girl!

Thank you, Dr. Morales and team. Our children are now 14 and 11, and I still think of you often with love and gratitude. We were late to parenthood and almost missed our chance, but you changed that. The past 14 years have been the best years of our lives.

I have worked in healthcare for many years and have never experienced service this poor. The only kind person here is Dr. Shelly, but Dr. Morales is purely motivated by money and lacks empathy. She refuses direct contact and will not respond to any patient without an additional fee. I paid for a consultation that was cut short, and when I asked the front desk a follow-up question related to that same appointment, I was told I had to book and pay for another consultation. If any medical malpractice attorneys are reading this, please investigate this clinic. This is by far the worst clinic I have visited. They draw you in with treatment, and once you have invested time, you are trapped with a provider who keeps taking and gives nothing in return. The reviews speak for themselves—this place is terrible. The receptionist Irene may be the worst of them. She deliberately says things that upset patients. For example: Me: One of my consultations was interrupted because the connection dropped. Can you help me reschedule and waive the charge? Irene: No, you have to pay again. The second time, I called with another issue: Me: I had a follicle count last year, but your practice never followed up. Can someone help me? I do not want to pay twice because of your company's negligence. Irene: You have to start over because it has been a year. She then said she could transfer me to finance for more information, but that had nothing to do with my concern. My meeting with Dr. Morales was also disconnected because of poor reception. When I rescheduled, they billed my insurance twice for more than $100 and required me to pay two deposits. On top of that, they were undergoing internal changes but failed to inform me of my results. I eventually went to another fertility clinic that was much better, but they recommended staying with one provider because several procedures had already been performed. I reluctantly returned here, only to be told that nearly a year had passed and, because of their disorganization, I had to repeat all the paperwork and pay the original amount again. At this point, I may gather other patients to share their experiences and explore possible action, because this clinic should not treat clients this way. Even worse, I had been communicating with Keila, who sent me messages and replied to emails until she suddenly stopped without warning. There was not even an automated message saying she was unavailable. After a month with no reply, I contacted the clinic again, and Irene told me: 'You should only email our general address because you will not get a reply when an employee is out of the office.' This is not an acceptable way to handle customer service. If an employee is away, an automatic email should tell patients to contact someone else. Keila initially handled my case, so how was I supposed to know I needed to switch to the general email? This clinic is disorganized, unethical, and focused only on profit. Avoid it at all costs.
