Emergency room review: My wife waited 5 hours just to have lab tests done and still has not been given a room. She is 21 weeks pregnant, has a high-risk pregnancy, and is experiencing some concerning symptoms. If you live off base and can go to another emergency room, go elsewhere. I worked in healthcare before joining the military, and this hospital does not care at all about its negative reviews.

Thanks to the medical staff at this hospital, I had a wonderful experience giving birth to my first child. The nurses and doctors were very kind, communicative, and respectful of all my needs. They made my delivery feel more personal and peaceful. I sincerely thank everyone who cared for us during our hospital stay. Thank you so much!

My wife was seen three times for signs of pregnancy, and we received no help whatsoever. I just want to tell Womack Army Medical Center to wake up! Many people come here with different problems and symptoms, whether from an illness, a disorder, or even pregnancy. Wake up! I can only pray for those whose nurses do not bother to do their jobs properly.

I have been trying for a week to obtain verification documents for my daughter's birth certificate!! The office is always closed—why??? I went at 3 p.m. and it was closed. I went at 2 p.m. and no one was there. Please schedule reliable staff!!

This is the worst emergency room I have ever visited. In my hometown in New Mexico, someone even died waiting in the ER, but at least they make you comfortable, give you a blanket, and test your urine for dehydration. Here, it seems they take no action unless you are actually dying. They did care for my son when he had RSV, but I will never seek care there again. I would rather go to Cape Fear Hospital.

Walmart's urgent service is terrible after 3 p.m. I was on duty at HDRS when a coworker accidentally dropped something on my ankle, leaving me shaking with pain. It took more than an hour before staff called me to check my blood pressure, height, and weight, then scheduled my visit.

The Black female doctor at station 4 is the rudest person I have ever met. With such a poor attitude, why is she at the front desk? I have interacted with her more than four times, and every experience was equally bad. Front-desk patient care requires basic courtesy, but she has none. Whenever I arrive without an appointment, even with a number, I always have to wait. She does not listen to patients, makes arbitrary decisions, and sometimes gives incorrect advice, wasting everyone's time.

This hospital is disgraceful and a complete joke. The doctor who treated my husband today was Robert A. Jones. They refused to perform a necessary blood test to determine whether he had carbon monoxide poisoning, asking him directly, “No, why would we do that?” I am not a doctor, but this makes no sense. An X-ray cannot detect carbon monoxide poisoning. In my view, this medical negligence warrants legal action. If anything happens after my husband is discharged today, I will sue this hospital for refusing the blood test he clearly needed after a workplace accident. This is absurd. People who serve the country should not be treated this way or denied health care, which this facility seems to do frequently.

They took good care of me. This is a very good hospital.

I called to schedule a mammogram. Logan asked whether I had pain or a lump. I said, “It hurts when I exercise.” He interrupted and said he could not schedule me because the order was incorrect. I explained that the order was due to my family history of breast cancer, but he insisted it was wrong because I had mentioned breast pain. When I became frustrated and asked him to schedule it, he then said he could not because the order came from a different doctor. Both doctors work at the same practice; I saw the other one for a Pap smear and normally see whichever is available. If he knew from the start that another doctor placed the order, why ask so many questions and argue that it should be changed solely because I have pain during exercise? He had no idea what I had discussed with my doctor. Logan was extremely unprofessional.

Dr. Benjamin Norton and Donna in dermatology are the most professional and caring team I have met at WAMC! Their consistent attention and genuine care for my family and me have been deeply impressive. Please keep it up!

Starting to question the point of coming to an ER if my daughter is going to spend 4+ hrs in the waiting room, and over a hour for triage. This is ridiculous. The staff tells me “you are scheduled for a bed” when? Any time Today? At that point why waste the time in a ER?

After reading other reviews, our experience was not the worst, but it was still poor. I felt I should leave a review in hopes of improvement. The woman working the emergency room night shift was arrogant and rude. She told my husband that I had to speak to her myself, even though I was standing beside him. She could simply have turned slightly toward me and asked me to step forward, but instead said, “Have her come to the front!” She then asked registration questions. When I said I came in for a cough, she responded, “A cough?” She asked what medication I had taken, and I said none, only tea. She replied, “Nothing?!” She made me feel very uncomfortable. Thank you to the man with dreadlocks at the front, the woman who took my X-ray, and the doctor. Thank you for your kindness. It meant a great deal to me, and I appreciate your hard work.

This is an update to my previous review. We can tell others about this hospital and our experiences, but what can we do to make those in charge listen and take action? I have been researching who is above the DHA (Defense Health Agency). Does anyone know who can expose the lack of staff and medical knowledge at Womack? I could not find a question section, so I am asking here. Based on my experience and other reviews, I believe Patient Advocacy, ICE, and any other office that could handle legitimate complaints have been told to ignore patients or gaslight them until they give up. I do not know whether a petition or some other action is needed to get their attention. I know formal channels are difficult and time-consuming, but I am willing to pursue them if it means we will finally be heard and conditions at this hospital will improve. They were entrusted with my life and then disregarded it. I am no longer a Womack patient; my son's healthcare and mine are too important. But something must be done. On the DHA website, I read an article published September 5, 2025, about Dr. Stephen Ferrara visiting Womack. Do we need to ask him to return and speak with current and former patients instead of staff who surely hid every scandal before his visit? I am sure someone at Womack will see this review and may click reply to suggest contacting Patient Advocacy, but that will only result in my being ignored. I have tried many approaches and know they do not work. So, Womack, how can we make your leadership actually see these reviews? This is not an ordinary coffee shop where the cream-to-sugar ratio is wrong. This is a matter of life and death. What should those of us harmed by you do next?
