I arrived on time, and everyone else involved was on the same schedule. Dr. Becker is my favorite doctor. He is easy to communicate with and a great listener. He takes excellent care of my health and shows genuine concern for it. Everyone else there was kind and efficient in their work. Thank you to all of them as well. You are the best 🙏

I had a transvaginal ultrasound on Thursday. I am in a wheelchair, have both legs amputated, and my right femur is also incomplete. In most medical settings, I have great difficulty moving and dressing or undressing. This makes me feel like a burden, and I always apologize, saying I'm sorry. But the woman who performed my ultrasound was incredibly kind, considerate, and helpful. She assisted me when I needed to get dressed. I was feeling frustrated and started apologizing repeatedly, then began to cry. She patted my shoulder, told me to stop crying, and said I was fine. She made me feel very at ease. I wish I could remember her name. Maybe you can help me find her, so you can thank her again on my behalf and express my gratitude for how she helped me.

This was the best emergency room visit I have ever experienced. Everyone was very kind and genuinely cared about the patient's well-being.

In the waiting room, there were only my husband and me, along with another elderly couple. About 15 minutes after we registered, we saw a patient come out. It took another 15 minutes or so before that couple was called in... It was absolutely outrageous that I had to wait so long for my turn, arriving an hour and a half past my appointment time, with no apology and no update on when I would be seen. Once I finally got into the consultation room, I waited another 45 minutes for the doctor to arrive. During that time, no one came to check on us at all. However, Dr. Jamil was excellent. He answered all our questions, and we felt very reassured by his diagnosis and confident in his treatment plan. Unfortunately, the clinic and the attitude of the staff left much to be desired, which is frustrating because he is truly a skilled and kind doctor.

I have always received excellent care at Edwards Cancer Center. Whether by phone or in person, the staff are always friendly, kind, and respectful. I feel very fortunate to receive care from Edwards Cancer Center and its staff.

Terrible ER service. My sister had to be rushed here for an allergic reaction and thought she wasn’t going to make it because of the lack of urgency. And when i went to go ask a group of workers for assistance they all looked in the air and acted like i wasn’t there.

Cabell Hospital's pediatric unit is wonderful. I have had serious concerns about much of the care at Cabell and have often considered seeking care elsewhere. It is frightening to have so few local options. However, the pediatric unit is truly outstanding. Everyone—from housekeeping and unit clerks to nurses, doctors, and administrators—does an excellent job.

As a hub serving patients from numerous counties across rural West Virginia, this facility carries a significant responsibility. Unfortunately, when it comes to managing Lymphedema, the hospital is falling short of modern medical expectations. Rather than employing proactive, evidence-based methods, their the approach remains reactive and outdated. It isn’t fair, especially to those newly diagnosed with the condition and unfamiliar with it, to receive inadequate care at this hospital. For a facility that rural communities depend on as their primary source of specialised care, the absence of a proactive Lymphedema program is a major oversight.

I've genuinely never had a worse healthcare experience in my entire life than from this institution. Last year in January, I slipped on ice and broke my foot. It was on a Thursday evening. I went to Cabell (specifically student health since I'm a Marshall student) and they referred me to get an x-ray. They told me it would be paid for, since student health is free for us. Spoiler alert: it was not free and I was billed hundreds upon hundreds of dollars plus mountains of fees for x-ray services. After waiting for hours and hours, I was finally called back for my x-ray. They said the x-ray couldn't be interpreted that night since the staff had already gone home for the night. They sent me home and told me they would call me with results the next day. I did not hear from them for multiple days, and they would not answer or return my phone calls asking about the result from my x-ray. My parents had to go in person Monday afternoon (because I obviously couldn't walk) and fight through many different departments to finally get my result; broken. So we did all the things, made all the appointments, bought the expensive boot, etc etc. And then came the bills. I was diligent about the medical bills I received, despite the fact that they were all extremely overpriced (thank you, American healthcare system), and paid them all on time. I called many different departments on the phone to verify all outstanding payments were paid, and that there were no more bills to pay. Now it is nearly one year later. So tell me why I just got mailed an outstanding, delinquent bill for hundreds of dollars from radiology. I do not care if I am dying. If I didn't have an option to go elsewhere, I would sooner perish than set foot in this greedy, incompetent, sorry excuse for a hospital ever again. Do not come here. Go to Ashland. Go to St. Mary's. Go to a quack doctor in a dark alley. Anywhere else would probably be better for you.

My nurse was very kind, but the emergency physician was terrible. I do not understand how a prescription can be issued without first assessing the patient. This was my first emergency department visit, and if I ever need emergency care again, I definitely will not return to Cabell.

I am extremely disappointed with the bedside manner displayed by the doctor who treated my 7-month-old baby in the ER. Despite her heart rate exceeding 200, following a cough and runny nose for a few days, the doctor seemed dismissive of her symptoms and previous diagnosis of rhinovirus. He stated that viruses are not treated, which I was already aware of, having five children. His behavior suggested a lack of interest in testing her for anything, instead opting to treat it as a cold and discharge her without inquiring about her medical history. As a preemie, I have heightened concerns. After sharing this information, he agreed to run a panel of tests, but expressed certainty that everything was fine. The nurse's method of swabbing her nose for testing was questionable, and the results came back negative. All tests were negative, but I was relieved that my baby still had a fever of 101.8 upon arrival. The doctor attributed the fever and high heart rate to a slightly red ear, prescribing antibiotics. Upon reviewing the discharge papers, I noticed an upper respiratory infection diagnosis that was not discussed with me. That night, my baby's fever spiked to 105.0. I am extremely dissatisfied with the care my baby received in the ER and am disappointed in the hospital's performance, having previously received excellent care there. The EKG and x-ray technicians provided exceptional service, and I appreciate their efforts.

I had the absolute best care at the Cabell Huntington Hospital Surgery Center. Everyone that participated in my care provided excellent care to me. They kept my husband in the loop and updated. 10/10 Would recommend!

The worst hospital experience ever. The doctor never examined me, yet they said I had been examined. They marked every examination as normal even though they never performed a physical exam. Then they said I was "beyond their capabilities," that treatment would be "futile," and that "if I wanted to stay, I could, but..." before listing every reason I should not stay. Then they said, "If you stay, I will do my best." How could that give me confidence that I would receive any treatment? I have cancer, and they knew it, but treated me like a joke. I chose to leave and was labeled as leaving against medical advice, even though they never advised me to stay. I asked them directly, "Are you recommending that I stay?" I was told, "We cannot force you," and "I cannot answer that." So tell me, how was that against medical advice? They did not recommend that I stay in any way. Do not say you examined me when you did not. I weigh only 145 pounds; do not record my weight as 319 pounds. If medication was dosed based on that weight, I would certainly have been overdosed. You know a place is bad when, as soon as you arrive, all the nurses quietly tell you to go elsewhere because the doctors there cannot treat you. I would rather die than return there for an emergency.

I went to the emergency room Monday morning and arrived at 5:58. They immediately took me back to register and began running tests to understand my condition. I was there for only two hours. All the staff treated me very well, communicated with me, did everything they could, and kept a close eye on me. This is definitely a clean hospital! I had a private room and could receive visitors if I wanted. Because I was so cold, they gave me several warm blankets. I definitely recommend this hospital!

I took my son to the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital for a psychiatric emergency, and he tested positive for RSV. He was supposed to be isolated at Cabell Huntington Hospital while they searched for psychiatric placement. The next day, another group of doctors tried to medically clear him without reviewing any psychiatric records related to his emergency. When I tried to advocate for my son's care, the staff would not listen, and the nurse was extremely rude and refused to let me explain his complex psychiatric needs. I needed the doctor to contact a specific out-of-state hospital because no in-state facility or service could provide the level of care my son required. However, they refused until I was literally crying. I left extensive documents about his intellectual and developmental needs and functioning, but they did not read them, and none of the staff or doctors communicated with one another. Because they did not review his current records or communicate, they did not recognize that he had cognitive impairments. Despite having a nurse with him, he did not bathe or change clothes during his hospitalization. When we left the hospital, they still had not refilled his medications, and I had to call to request refills. The original reason he came to the ER was that his insurance had negligently denied coverage, causing his discharge from an out-of-state residential placement. There are no services for him in the state, and the services we did receive failed him. He ran out of all his medication, stopped sleeping, and began having a manic episode. Even so, the hospital did not restart all his medications. We still do not have several prescriptions. To make matters worse, the hospital did not provide the promised referral at discharge. My son's care failed at every step. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

My 3-year-old son had his worst asthma attack—his O2 dropped to 58!!! He was rushed to the PICU at Cabell, and everyone there was amazing! They explained everything in detail. The doctor sat down, explained what was happening, discussed the plan of action with me, and made sure I understood everything! Not only the nurses, but also respiratory therapy, housekeeping, the X-ray technicians, and the kitchen staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone was wonderful during a frightening time. Thank you so much!

I was admitted and received surgical trauma care from the attending physician and surgical residents. The emergency physician was the only care provider who examined me, and it was a focused examination. No other MD performed any physical examination. In my opinion, this was poor care.

I visit the Pain Management Center beside of the ER. Ok, truthfully the scheduling part is the worst. More than likely because of insurance requirements and pre-authorizations. But once you get there you're in and out impressively quickly. Everyone is so nice. Especially my first time when my imagination had no idea what to expect and my vitals were a bit off. They offer you a pop, make sure you're not cold and they're so sweet. The first test is a straight tease. If they get the right spot it feels better for a little bit. The second test's relief will last a little longer. If test one and two go well, the third time is a charm. The third time is the radio frequency and it is amazing. This was my third time on the right side and when that pain relief spread over my hip and leg it was like cloud 9. Dr. Moufarrege is AWESOME!!
